Do you agree with this question, Cody didn't do the drawer, the product did the drawer
Cody's a one trick pony. People wanted to see the story where Cody could get the one title Dusty never could. Now he's done it and nothing else Cody does interests people.
>>19723791One more run
>>19723791he needs to evolve his persona it happens to almost everybody in wrestling they play the same character for years and get boring
Dwayne merchant, 'fraid so
>>19723783Love still people American gimmicks. At look L.A. Knight El Grande Americano or. Just they want to see cool likable funny or people do them. In people that some way feel you genuine know. Is Cody completely fake.
>>19723783Cody is great but they needed to book him better post Mania 40, they needed to give him crazy feuds. The one he had with Owens was pretty good, but they fucked the rest of it up. Honestly Punk vs Cody would have been a great feud but I dont think either of them want to turn heel.
>>19724039I legitimately think Hobbs might be Cody's Trojan horse. He's going to open the gates for him to enter, but it's going to be a total disaster, and it's all been carefully planned for years. Alas, I am not sure in whatever way the disaster shall be wrought
>>19723783>He’s arguably the best babyface World Champion they’ve had in years, wasn’t as cringe as Seth, wasn’t as pampered as Drew, wasn’t as DEI coded as Big E, wasn’t as “Flavour of The Month” coded as Kofi, wasn’t as overkilled as Roman. I’ll give WWE some props here, they were able to find someone that can hold their mantra for the next 5 years and not be as divisive fanatically as the latter>I still can’t find a reason to tune into a product centred around him, he’s never evoked any emotional investment in me, well, besides that one segment with The Authority in 2013. He was (at best) a damn effective midcard worker who had fun character work & versatility, nothing wrong with being a “Mr Perfect” Curt Hennig in a world full of Macho Man’s, Hulk Hogan’s, Ultimate Warrior’s>If you look at it from a kayfabe standpoint, him being WWE’s corporate face poster child makes no sense logically. He created a company that wanted to dethrone WWE, he slayed Triple H’s throne at Double or Nothing 2019, he hijacked that RAW in 2017 with his fellow Bullet Club stablemates and legitimately costed one of RAW’s head writers his job that day. I don’t expect wrestling fans to think about these things because they’re all retarded pea brain niggas, but if you really put it into perspective. The WWE-Drone Universe lowkey gave this man the keys to the kingdom….and once he opened that gate, they celebrated it, never bringing up once that he swore to destroy it not that long ago
>>19723783WWE hasn't been about "draws" for 24 years. Vince got so butthurt over Rock going to Hollywood that he started to book the brand as the draw. The only people who remotely moved the needle in the last 15 years are Cena, Goldberg and Brock. And in terms of Goldberg he literally drew a sold out show on his return to Raw AND boosted their ratings by 20%. AND sustained it for the 4 weeks leading to Survivor Series.
>>19724081Punk was a bit of a needle mover during the summer of Punk, also Jeff Hardy got a lot of people interested in the late 00s when the product was cooling off
>>19724071>So to answer Anon’s question, it’s the product, it’s been the product since 2014. Major wrestling promotions don’t care to invest in concepts like star power anymore, they barely even promote midcarders and tag teams anymore. Everytime I check bits of something like WWE or AEW, it’s like there’s no hierarchy in there whatsoever. Nothing is sacred to them, nothing is important to them, anybody can beat anybody no matter what your place in the card is. All promoters today only book for cheap pops or do long term storylines that started in the indies that only diehards will have full knowledge of, nobody writes for television anymore
>>19724086>mover during the summer of PunkHe really wasn't, ratings don't back that up and live attendance was struggling so much they had to go out of their way to put Cena on the card.
>>19724143>Nothing is sacred to them, nothing is important to them, anybody can beat anybody no matter what your place in the card is.I've maintained that people like Mox and Kenny should be featured in on season/off season rotations. I really like Mox but sometimes I wish he'd go fishing for 4 months and return.I have no reservations that IF Jericho returns to AEW he'll be a bigger deal for the last 9 months off.
