Can Triple H stop booking US Champs to always declare an open challenge, it makes title defenses and reigns meaningless without a story. John Cena did the open challenge because he was all about providing opportunity, and now that he was bumped down to the mid card he wanted to put over fresh faces. Now whoever holds the belt has been kneecapped to be “Le anti Brock Lesnar I love sharing” guyAlso, side note: does anyone actually like the IC belt because it’s the “workhorse” belt. I hear guys in the business and online say they love it because of Shawn and guys like that, but as a kid watching did you really go as far as to say you prefer the IC belt to the World Title because the guys had better work rate?

there was never any need for Carmelo Hayes to be doing the Open Challenge title defenses for the US Belt.Giulia would've benefitted from doing at least 3 episodes of opening the show with Open Challenge title defenses for the Women's US Belt, but in all actuality, Alexa Bliss should've taken it off of Giulia.

>>19744069storywise, it made sense for sami to take it over from cena and was a good way to send cena off from smackdown, and sami had a good reign. it fits with ilja's character that he did the same thing. it doesn't really fit with melo's character, even as a babyface, that he'd do that. but in practical terms, it was a huge part in getting ilja over and they really needed to get melo over by this point, so they tried it and it worked. so in some sense, the effects are still trickling down from cena's original open challenge.i don't think a babyface is going to take it off of melo. i think a heel is gonna do it, don't know which one but that's not important, and a heel obviously won't take the challenges, it's a very face gimmick.
