PWInsider is reporting that AJ is retiring (or leaving) after the Rumble
>>
>>19758555
AJ ia getting his proper retirement match/ceremony at WrestleKingdom next year. Will spend the next 12 months touring AEW/NJPW/CMLL doing the one last dream match thing, we'll get the Omega vs Styles match finally (bit late). Then AJ retires at WrestleKingdom Jan 4. 2027.
And this time Nakamura will be there cos contract is coming due soon as well.

He outright implied here that he isn't ending his career in WWE
>>
>told months ago
>doesn't say anything about it until nakamura spills the tea
>>
aj said he wants to do backstage work at wwe when he retires, he's not going anywhere
>>
>>19758555
How much they're rushing this feels very much like they know he's going straight to AEW, like what happened with Edge.
>>
>>19758555
That's the feeling I got from his match last night. Mentioned in another thread there was an odd sense of finality to it. They could've used it to further his story with Gunther and get him some heat by robbing fans of the ending, but instead they let AJ and Nakamura go out there and have the match everyone had been wanting from them in WWE. And it actually saw a real finish. WWE may want Gunther to be the one who retires him on paper but last night felt like his proper retirement match
>>
>>19758616
He can still do that
>>
>>19758621
Not really. In either case
>>
>>19758555
If you're doing well in wwe, you never leave
>>
>>19758735
This part. Which is why I think Edge going to AEW was the surprise it was, because he's so far the only exception there. But it turns out he wasn't happy with how often they'd let him wrestle
>>
>>19758555
>or leaving
gAyEWtists will never let go of their dream of having him work their toybox fed so he can have shitty matches with a broken down Kenny.
>>
>>19758630
I like Gunther and all but not even retiring Cena has gotten him more heat. He's never going to be the big bad final boss of wrestling that Gaytch wants him to be.
>>
We got him, TK does not fumble

I don't know what to feel about AJ Styles
>>
eliteGODS, finna we do be eatin' goodly?
>>

Taking Cena down might have worked if Cena's last year was different. A lot of fans had a lot of critique of his retirement tour so to end it that way only made it worse for them. That does not generate heat it kills it.
>>

I am praying for this

AJ leaves, but he doesn't go to any promotion instead it's time for another one of these
>>
>>19758600
>Should've finished it in AEW
He called that dumb
>>
>>19758555
And she just returned going to miss that philopino granny
>>
>>19758990
that guy is saying that aj is saying that he chose the wwe money is dumb. imo he could see both things as dumb, he didn't pick the wwe money and keep wrestling until the wheels fell off and he doesn't go to aew. it's rare but he could actually just retire. I'm certain wwe would've given him another contract if he wanted one which is why saying that he picked the wwe money is dumb
>>
>>19759026
whatever WWE would give AJ, tony would probably double it, frankly maybe even quadruple it

Going out to The Gunt is going to be shit but I'm praying somebody gives him a proper send-off.
