Here’s a overview of Japanese promotions in 2025, including December results, full-year totals, and a Korakuen Hall breakdown.Attendance figures are based on publicly available data (Cagematch, Purolove, Weekly Pro Wrestling, promotion releases). Only shows held in Japan are included. Promotions like DDT, Marvelous and Sendai Girls sadly don't reliable release any attendance numbers. >>19762099Stardom's moved into a strong second position, not surprising given their current momentum.
>>19762099Some notes and tidbits>NJPW & Stardom are pretty much neck to neck based on average attendance and number of shows>All Japan got blasted all year by online fans but attendance is pretty much the same. They have changed course this year so far again and are going in heavier on hard hitting wrestling with less comedy, let's see how it works out this year. >NOAH has a big uptrend in Tokyo and need to find a way to extend that to other regions. >In terms of the differences between TJPW and Marigold and Sendai Girls. TJPW starts the year full blast with big guests, getting Mirai to participate and a big marketing push while Marigold did a 10 day winter holiday right before their first Korakuen and Sendai are only doing 5 small shows in two months>DG lost the Fukuoka International Centre for December that would be the Final Gate show, that's why there's the huge drop.
>>19762099Marigold shouldn't be in this list, they constantly lie about their attendance in such a blatantly fashion it's funny. You will see 400 people at most at Korakuen Hall and they will report 1100
Cut the Marigold numbers in half.
>>19762164Same for Dragongate, they'll run venues at half capacity but claim they packed the whole place. You can comfortably half their attendance
Dragon Gate running more Korakuen shows than AJPW or BJPW when the latter two are Kanto-based and DG is Kansai-based is wild.
>>19762164
>>19762099ummm Dragongate, Big Japan, GLEAT sisters?
>>19762099>BJW - 21,546 - 87 - 248 - –20%Keep in mind these numbers are also inflated. Just fucking close already, man.
>>19762099>Promotions like DDT, Marvelous and Sendai Girls sadly don't reliable release any attendance numbers. In a old /puro/ thread someone posted this: it's the number show for each promotion that also included DDT (not marvelous or sendai if im not wrong)>https://x.com/puwota/status/2004723458366943518
>>19762107AJPW has been in a decent direction since Kento got the belt off Saito, they signed Go Shiozaki, and Havoc found their footing as a team. Plus they're trying to build Talos as another Joe Doering and I think that'll work well for them. Miyahara vs Anzai was even a better match than Tsuji vs Takeshita or Ozawa vs Inamura. There's still plenty of comedy, especially on the smaller shows, but I'm noticing they're also trying to throw in more hoss fights with guys like Sekimoto which is helping a lot.
>>19763153AJPW is probably in my watch hierarchy at the moment, after Stardom and New Japan. I like the main event scene but lower card matches can be a slog sometimes.
>>19763161*is probably third in my watch hierarchy, I meant to say. I watch it when I don't have anything to watch from the other two but want to watch more wrestling.
>>19762099>DDT hides their attendance numbers out of shamedaaaamn they really are the Japanese version of GCW
So the joshi feds are all dimeless and like 500 horny fatasses attend their shows on average??
>>19763176>Stardom is #2
>>19763181>837 people on averageThis is supposed to be impressive?
>>19763184No one said you had to be impressed, but given that it's women's wrestling and there are better ways to see cute chicks than going to a wrestling show with mid-looking performers...
>>19762099From what I'm reading here, it looks like Sports Entertainment and Family Get-Together styles of wrestling are improving in Japan. While hardcore and shoot style is dying.
>>19763161If you want to save time usually you can focus on the Triple Crown defenses and Tag Title defenses though the Gaora TV match between Ashino vs Sekimoto was a fun hoss match. The last Junior match between Atsuki vs Seigo easily delivered more than I expected but the Junior scene in AJPW can vary a bit since while AJPW has great Juniors it's a really small division.
>>19763189Japs have a lot of pedos/creeps so I'd expect them to sellout 10k arenas
>>19762099>>Dragongate - 7,417 - 16 -464 - –24%how does this happeni never hear ANYTHING about dragongate
>>19763213Their streaming service is more expensive than NJPW World plus things get taken on and off the service a lot due to Gaora. Dragon Gate went through a rough patch but they're doing good now with guys like Shun Skywalker. While they definitely fudge their numbers I'd still say they're smaller than NJPW but a hair bigger than NOAH or AJPW.
>>19763196Why would pedos go to watch 20 and 30 year old women wrestle.Stardom used to have that vibe but Bushiroad moved it away from that. It's now mostly a New Japan vibe but with women. It's got a solid roster top-to-bottom with a number of wrestlers who have been doing this for a while now but are still young. You guys trash it but it's a shame you never give it an honest shot because it's some of the best stuff going right now at a time when you're all bitching about how much wrestling sucks.
>>19763239>why would pedos go watch little girls in cute outfits act sexual
>>19763261They're not little girls, they're literally in their 20s and 30s. And there are plenty of women and families with kids in those crowds. But I get it. You're just bad faith nitpicking because you know you don't have a real argument and the idea that it could actually be good makes ya feel icky. You're just arguing from feelings, not reason. Which is feminine behavior but you do you man.
>bad faithit's this fatass again
>>19763213Why is DG essentially number 3 promotion despite not hearing about them>Based in Kobe, Hyogo as probably the only bigger puro promotion. NJPW, Tokyo. Stardom, Tokyo. NOAH, Tokyo. AJPW, Tokyo. DDT, Tokyo. Zero1, Tokyo. >DG holds small shows everywhere, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. They're probably the only promotion outside of NJPW (maybe Stardom at this point idk) that tours the entirety of Japan and doesn't just stick to their home region. >They're essentially an island on their own. NJPW/NOAH/AJPW all each has somewhat part of the history, legacy, money, and modernization of puroresu. Stardom has the benefit of being a Joshi promotion and doesn't need to compete with the 3 Legacy promotions.>A big part of the appeal of Dragongate domestically is the small scale of the shows. For example, the roster members at DG man their own merch booths, which is normal for freelancers and for very tiny promotions, but isn’t the norm at NJPW, NOAH, or DDT. Combine this with the large number of small arena shows and fans end up feeling individually connected to the wrestlers. So you've got a promotion that's essentially build their fans on people who aren't necessarily fans of wrestling but more just fans of Dragongate and thus the number 3-4 ranked promotion is underrepresented even in Japanese wrestling media because their fans simply aren't buying magazines of news media other than what Dragongate itself puts out. Why don't you hear much about DG in the US>Meltzer used to tout about Dragongate in the 2009-2012 period, before NJPW blew up again >Dragongate was the first puro promotion that tried to get a foothold in the US with DGUSA, but that folded >Fucking Gaora (their owners). The network sucks. They keep shutting down people spreading GIFs on twitter and other platforms. They're making it hard for anyone to get in.
>meanwhile Rizin draws 40k averagekek wrestlingetty is dead everywhere
>>19763290next you'll tell me that white people wearing blackface aren't actually black people and are only doing it to get a racist response
>>19763295>doubles down on bad faith argumentsOof, good job. Really got me there ya homo.
>>19763317
>>19763321>can't argue like a man with real arguments so has to resort to greentext and picrelsWhatever chief
>MarigoldAttendance figures for this promotion are for entertainment purposes only.
>>19763306One additional note separate from this anon - after the folding of DGUSA into Evolve, they opted to stop trying to reach a western audience. Their English commentator is a fanboy that used to run a site with results and histories, but he eventually killed it and begged them to become commentator. Horiguchi agreed, but only part-time, so the guy has a day job as a salaryman. They care more about going places in Japan that doesn’t get wrestling and endearing themselves to the rural areas of the country.
>>19763171No. They started to not release because they don't want to see the discourse about numbers that also plague japanese fans and want people to talk about the content of the shows..Last year they had several fully booked Korakuen and in house shows, the Ryogoku show went very well.
>>19763611I think calling J*e just a fanboy is underselling it. I mean I guess he is pretty much a DG fanboy. But iheartdg is pretty much the sole source of news that western audiences got from DG. Not only results, but he summed up all the promos of the shows and what was happening, with DG being a promotion that is much more promo heavy than the rest.Originally he was just going to run the official english facebook/twitter pages for DG which is why he closed down his site and DG was going to use Lenny Leonard, who used to commentate the DGUSA shows, and they did for two months or so until Covid and Lenny couldn't travel to Japan. But J*e was already living there so he made the most sense as a replacement English commentator.
Slow and steady wins the race, teej-bros...
>>19762308Do the country bumpkins really like flippy shit that much?
>>19763881Rae Lil Black, or whatever Muslim name she goes by now, is a big wrestling fan by now but she used to only wtahc Dragongate. She had a twitch back in 2020-2021 where she was pretty active and she would regularly stream wrestling. Usually Dragongate. She's from some bumfuck Japanese town and she explained it that the only promotion that bothered to visit near her bumfuck town was Dragongate so that was pretty much the only wrestling she was exposed to live until she moved to Tokyo and got exposed to NJPW, BJW and the like. She got really sad when the DG fujoshi fanbase rejected and bullied her.https://www.twitch.tv/raelilblack/clip/NicePlacidEelJonCarnage?filter=clips&range=all&sort=time
>>19763947Terrible boobs but great taste in Jimmyz
Dragon Gate attracts lonely women like Joshi does for men. They should do collab shows and partner off the fans.
>>19762099It all looks incredibly grim
>>19764301it was a travisty when she got her boobjob, nose job as well
>>19763872Once Arai gets the strap it's gonna be bang boom straight to the moon. Or at least a tick up from where they are currently
