Is he ever going back to DDT?
>>
>>19783166
Until he gets a belt, I guess? But as long as he's fine in NOAH don't think his fans will complain especially after DDT got Junta.
>>
>>19783036
The only DG x DDT match i want to see is still Shun vs Ueno but I have no hope
But I imagine the tag from DDT will be Iino&Naya or MAO with another guy.

He was mainly working on that Evolution Indie he made. That's how we got Chi Chi and ZONES.

Suwama technically never left. He just backed off to focus on his indie. He's being more active now at least to work towards that Go Shiozaki feud that was teased earlier in the year but hard to say if Suwama stays active after that.

>[NOAH] Aiki Inamura licks his chops for a defense against “Godfather” Takashi Sugiura: “I’ll make it my experience”

>NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Champion Yoshiki Inamura (Aiki Inamura, 33) spoke candidly about his fourth title defense against Takashi Sugiura (55) on February 11 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Inamura still holds deep respect for Sugiura, having received countless pieces of advice from him as a young trainee—but how does he plan to confront a challenger who, as the “Godfather” of the black unit TEAM 2000 X (T2KX), has embraced villainy without restraint?

>With the Sugiura match looming, Inamura didn’t hide his conflicted feelings. His first words were a sigh-laced murmur: “I don’t think a clean fight is going to be easy.”

>In previous defenses against OZAWA and Masa Kitamiya—both fellow members of T2KX—Inamura had called for them to “repent.” This time, though, his expression hardened: “Mr. Sugiura is a wrestler with chivalry and strong convictions. You can’t just casually tell a man who knows both the sour and the sweet—who’s gained an outrageous amount of experience—‘wake up.’” He then stated flatly: “It’s very sad, but I’m resolved to fight ‘Mr. Sugiura of T2KX.’”

>Inamura also confessed that he had admired Sugiura since he was a boy. “Back then I was in junior high school, and I thought, ‘Is there really a man this cool?’” After joining NOAH and debuting, Sugiura began inviting him out to meals. “I started pro wrestling late by industry standards—I was 25. But Mr. Sugiura started at 30, so he told me, ‘Compared to me, you’re still young…’ He’s my mentor. In every respect he influenced me and had an impact on me.” That’s why, he recalled, he couldn’t hide his shock when he heard in the U.S. that Sugiura had joined T2KX.
>>
>>19784463
>At the same time, Inamura’s eyes sharpened. “But honestly, there’s also something rare about being able to fight the black Mr. Sugiura at this moment.” Sugiura has repeatedly walked the dark path before, including his sudden 2015 entry into Suzuki-gun, who were then running roughshod over NOAH.

>As for this “black Sugiura,” Inamura said, “In times like that, Mr. Sugiura’s scary side—his harshness—stands out even more. He really is the Godfather.” And then, licking his chops, he added: “I’m going to make this fight with the rare, black Mr. Sugiura my experience.”

>Regarding Kenoh—whom he continues to name as the next challenger, only for T2KX’s interference to keep the match from happening—Inamura gave a wry smile: “Honestly, I do want to fight Mr. Kenoh.” Even so, he continued: “But after I defend this time, I won’t be surprised no matter who interferes. If I didn’t think that way, my heart couldn’t take it. If I win this one, next I’ll fight the opponent who’s right in front of me. I’m saying that now.” Not only the outcome of this defense, but what comes after it, will be closely watched.

>[AJPW] Jun Saito aims for the full revival of the “Saito Brothers” — condemns Triple Crown champion Kento Miyahara’s reluctance as “simply uncool”

>Jun Saito (39) of All Japan Pro Wrestling wants to defeat the “challenge-refusing” Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, Kento Miyahara, and fully revive the “Saito Brothers” tag team with his younger brother Rei Saito, who is set to return.

>Jun is scheduled to challenge Miyahara at the Ota City event on February 23. On the same day, Rei—who has been out with a right-shoulder injury—is also slated to have his return match. Jun revealed that his feelings for his brother are the driving force behind the challenge: “As Rei’s big brother, I want to be standing next to him holding the Triple Crown belt.”

>After winning the Triple Crown, Jun also hinted at challenging for the World Tag Team Titles with Rei (the current champions are Ren Ayabe & Talos), raising his voice: “Lately we’ve inevitably faded into the background, but I want to say it loud and clear: ‘When you talk tag teams, you talk the Saito Brothers.’” He added, “Even as we move forward as a tag team, I’m going to firmly take the Triple Crown belt for myself,” vowing that this challenge will be the springboard for the complete revival of the “strongest twins.”
>>
>>19785668
>On the other hand, Jun had plenty to say about his opponent Miyahara. While the title match was formally announced on the 26th, when Jun declared his intention to challenge at the Chiba–Makuhari event on the 25th—taking into account Rei’s return match as well—Miyahara refused, saying, “I won’t do it in enemy territory.” He also insisted to reporters, “A champion has the right to choose the situation.”

>Jun condemned the hesitant champion as “simply uncool.” “You shouldn’t say that out loud. If I were the champion, it’d be ‘whoever comes, I won’t refuse.’ No matter how big the opponent is, or how unfavorable the situation is for me, I wouldn’t turn it down. What do you think the fans and the other wrestlers feel when they hear that?” he said, calling it out.

>As a post-title roadmap, Jun is eager to hold a Triple Crown title match against Rei at the postponed Kakuda City, Miyagi event. The brothers had a title match at last June’s Sendai event, but Jun insisted, “It wasn’t satisfying at all. That was never the best match between me and Rei. We can have a far, far greater match.” Can February 23 become “Saito Brothers Day”?

>I've been living in Osaka for 14 years! It's my favorite city! I like it more than New York (lol). But in Japan, most pro wrestling organizations are based in Tokyo. Everyone often tells me, "You should move to Tokyo," but I haven't left Osaka. Right now, it's becoming a difficult situation to stay in Osaka. I love Osaka, but I love pro wrestling even more.

Just finished the 2/1 AJPW show. It was fine but nothing too noteworthy. The main event was serviceable but I've seen better out of Titans of Calamity and Hokuto-gun. I am a little curious about Hideki Suzuki challenging for the tag belts with a mystery partner though. The obvious answer would probably be his stablemates in Evolution but which one is hard to say. What did surprise me though is AJPW had a pretty decent sized crowd for this show. They seem to do really good in Okinawa every time they go over there.

I forgot to add in my last post that Kuma is out of Hokuto-gun. Not sure if that's a sign Hokuto-gun is on the verge of disbanding. That only really leaves Omori and Cyrus as the only members of the faction who appear pretty often to shows and aren't complete comedy jobbers.

It's wild how dominant they are despite almost nobody being happy with the product right now. The obvious comparison is with WWE in the US but I don't think New Japan has the same cultural saturation. They're certainly not synonymous with wrestling in Japan, the way an Ameican casual or non-fan will call all wrestling "WWE" regardless of what company it is. I wish at least one of other feds would look at that number and see it as market share that's potentially there for the taking instead of all the gay kumbaya shit like All Together and UJPW. AJPW is on the outs with the others now, maybe they'll give it a shot.

AJPW doesn't have the big money NJPW and NOAH has. They've seen a little growth this year so far but AJPW is going to be pretty capped in many regards. For example NJPW and NOAH are starting to turn out a pretty decent number of guys from their dojos while the AJPW dojo is still struggling to produce much talent. It isn't an immediate issue for AJPW since so many guys on their roster are young and have much they can still do but they need to figure something out sooner rather than later in that regard. On the other hand though AJPW has been taking a Japan-centric focus over the global growth NJPW and NOAH are chasing and they've been getting along with Big Japan and Dragon Gate so they have some extra hands for their cards which seems to be working well.

With Kuma out of Hokuto-gun AJPW should probably consider either phasing the faction out or revamping it somehow. The crowd clearly loved Omori as an underdog in his match with Kento. I think they should consider letting him ease out of the comedy a bit and lean heavier into that. They can start small too by incorporating him into the Gaora belt scene with guys like Ashino and Sekimoto who can bully him around a bit to emphasize that more.
>>
>>19834218
it's because of DGeneration tournament. so they just put people together until shit is done. the six man tag was fine, even if Iino and Naya added to MAO's stable is quite random, the build up to that was quite lame considered their last title match was mediocre.

is he shoot mochizuki's son?
>>
>>19839972
As far as I'm aware
>>
>>19839972
Yes. Here's some lore
>On May 11, 2022, Ryoto made his main roster debut, then-known as Masaharu Eto, saving Masaaki Mochizuki from a pre-match assault from H.Y.O
>the name 'Masaharu Eto' was a clever reference to to the (Masaaki) Mochizuki contra (Susumu) Mochizuki feud of 2002. Masaaki was going to have to rename himself Masaaki Eto if he lost as a reference to his home neighborhood in Tokyo (he obviously couldn’t be Masaaki Tokyo with Magnum around). The second syllable in Masaaki, 'Aki', means Fall, where 'Haru' in Masaharu means spring.
>On June 3, Mochizuki confessed that Eto was promised to be a big rookie, due to him being his own son "Ryoto Mochizuki" who had just recently turned 20 years.
He sometimes posts stuff from his childhood when the DG wrestlers would entertain him backstage at shows

>[NOAH] KENTA demands that Tetsuya Naito “cut his hair”: “I’ve been saying it since the New Japan days…”

>KENTA (44), who will challenge for the GHC Tag Team Titles at NOAH’s February 11 Korakuen Hall show in Tokyo, demanded that Tetsuya Naito (43) of “Los Tranquilos de Japon (LTJ)” cut his hair.

>Teaming with HAYATA to challenge the belts held by Naito and BUSHI, KENTA competed in a six-man tag preview match this day. As soon as the opening bell rang, loud “Naito!” chants erupted throughout the venue. Not to be outdone, cheers for KENTA also flew in, sending the building into a frenzy.

>The match turned into a heated back-and-forth, but in the closing stretch KENTA succeeded in catching LTJ’s young gun RYUSEI. He cinched in GAME OVER and forced a submission, then smirked: “Back in New Japan you really gave me a lot of it. Don’t forget, okay? This is my home.” He also went after Naito for stepping into the ring without a belt, and the two traded barbs.

>In the comment area, KENTA spat: “This isn’t even your home, and you went and started Naito chants—pisses me off. This is my home.” He then acknowledged in a renewed interview: “I could really feel that there are a lot of fans who want to see Naito.” Even so, he didn’t miss a chance to talk him down: “There are hardly any people overseas who want to see Naito. Maybe he finally realized that, because he was saying this year he’s going to increase the number of matches (in Japan). But you should’ve been doing that from the start!”

>KENTA emphasized that the crowd’s support for Naito was “not a threat at all,” adding, “This is already my home, so it’s not a threat—none of that.” He finished with a declaration: “I’ve been saying it since the New Japan days—cut your hair. Start there, at least. That’s it. The number one thing I thought after wrestling today: cut your hair!”

>Where will this title match, fueled by veteran pride, end up?

"Nisei" on Mua's YouTube:

>Some of you may already know this, but I’m a second-generation.

>I wrote only one chorus of this song, and then years passed with it left as-is, but I was finally able to give it proper shape. The reason I couldn’t write it for so long was… fear. Fear that what I said might hurt someone, or become a trigger for something to take on a life of its own.

>I grew up receiving plenty of love—both from my parents and from the people around me. I have nothing but gratitude. Because these lyrics feel lonely, I think some people may misunderstand. But I wanted to convey that I also carry these feelings that appear in the lyrics.

every company if it's not a friendly match doesn't want to do something more serious. but no one thought that the universe cup was g1, but getting a decent booking would be nice
if this is handled by nosawa like the rest of "magic" he lost a bit of touch. this season of monday magic was boring

NOAH shouldn't be worried about being competitive with NJPW but instead trying to grow their audience by having a consistent product. NOAH has a huge issue with keeping things consistent so you have a constant wave of highs and lows. I suspect part of it is due to having so many people backstage wanting NOAH to do different things that sometimes clash and that's part of the reason why Shiozaki tapped out and went to AJPW instead.
>>
>>19875117
This. The Bushiroad funded promotions are too far ahead. They should focus on making a consistent identity. The main problems I have seen from them has been the over saturation of Team 2000X, and the top stars being made into bitches to everyone else.

That lineup is ancient. Kikuta is still champ, but he could lose it to Yoshioka on 2/23, which would make his inclusion slightly less interesting.

I would've left off one gaijin and put in Omori instead but otherwise it's a lineup I expected for the most part. I wonder if leaving Omori means they'll be having him do stuff in Dragon Gate during the Carnival.
>>
>>19897035
Unless they'll be going to Dragon Gate as part of the deal I'm a little confused why they were left off in favor in Odyssey or Cyrus who aren't going to be able to do a whole lot in singles. Guys like them tend to do better in tag when they don't have to be in the ring for a long time.

I see the final four being Honda, Anzai, Miyahara, and Kikuta so other than Miyahara who is in his 30s that's not bad. I would think AJPW would want to prioritize keeping the Saitos in tag matches this year since fans will be happy to see Rei back and they'll need credible teams to fight the Titans of Calamity. Havoc and Evolution may have a faction war this year that'll keep Shiozaki and Suzuki busy. As for guys like Kengo, Kuma, and Sekimoto they'll make solid guys for the Gaora belt scene but I don't see AJPW making them a Carnival winner. My theory is this will be Honda's year but it's hard to say.

That's what I think too but I wonder how' they'll present him. They're clearly trying to tone down the comedy and that's a big part of his schtick. He needs a couple matches at least in the tournament that are some real wars, show a different side.

Just finished the 2/15 AJPW show. Pretty good show for the most part. Evolution vs Titans of Calamity onward was all pretty solid matches. I wasn't really expecting much from this Junior Tag tournament but actually both matches were pretty good and I'm starting to think the AJPW junior division might actually be pretty underrated right now because some of the matches out of the division are easily competing in quality with some of the best AJPW heavyweight matches right now.

Posting this here as well as its own threads on /pw/ and /wsr/, because I know a large amount of people never leave their generals. I'm looking for the other part of this prank show featuring Minoru Suzuki and Masakatsu Funaki. The subtitled portion features Suzuki, but I know there is another part where Funaki slaps the shit out of some poor guy. If you could provide either the full show or just the part with Funaki I'd appreciate it:

>[AJPW] Suwama confident about toppling Talos in World Tag Title challenge: “Big guys usually have weak legs”

>Suwama (49), who will challenge for the World Tag Team Championship at All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Ota Ward event on the 23rd, went wild at a press conference.

>Suwama, together with Hideki Suzuki of the revived rampaging unit “Evolution,” will challenge the champion team of Ren Ayabe & Talos. At a press conference held in Tokyo on the 17th, he clenched his fist and said: “I was surprised to see the belts had been updated. Some people might have thoughts about an old guy stepping up to challenge, but I think I’ve still got plenty left.”

>After that, Suwama traded barbs with Talos, but things stayed sloppy throughout. It nearly escalated into a brawl when Talos stood up, but Suwama held it back, saying, “Stop it — it’ll turn into a police matter.”

>As a unit, Evolution revived at the Korakuen Hall show on the 15th for the first time in about a year and seven months. Suwama fired up, saying: “(AJPW these days) isn’t doing it tight. Are you rolling your eyes back? On the day of the (title match), let’s go for real. We’re going to make everyone think, ‘I hate this.’” He also reminisced about long-time members like Joe Doering and the late Atsushi Aoki, then vowed a war: “To the extent we don’t become ‘old-man nuisances,’ I want Evolution to run wild.”

>Talos stands 213 cm tall. Suwama expressed confidence about bringing him down: “Big guys usually have weak legs. That’s basically a given.” He added, “On top of that, we’ve got throws. We’re the ones who are going to win,” thumping his chest.

AJPW is willing to use him as an upper midcarder that puts over the younger guys. Plus he's actually getting to be in the Champion Carnival while NOAH said he was too washed to do the N1 but they ran Marufuji who is in way worse shape. I think Shiozaki's chill with the role AJPW has given him and he isn't having to fight with people backstage anymore.
