We all know and agree that early ECW is kino and late ECW (Original, not WWE) is proto-ROH slop for nerds, but when does this change occur? Help me out scholars of /pw/

Tell me you don’t early roh without telling me you don’t know early roh. ROH wasn’t just wwe counter programming it was counter programming to every other north east indie that was trying to be the next ECW.
ECW was actually always bad. You’ve never watched the 92 and 93 stuff. It’s bad. No one needs to watch Jimmy snuka and Tommy Cairo. The raven dreamer stuff is really over rated, and not even that violent compared to the bad breed feud that was happening at the same time. Dreamer for all the talk about is just a really boring babyface. By 2000 there aren’t really any storylines anymore, there are feuds in the since that there are guys who just wrestle each other non stop. That said I think there are some gems. No one talks about it but balls and Tanaka vs the Dudley boys is a real treat, feels like an 80s WWF tag match where the steroids are replaced with brain damage.

I suspect they were closer to a wwe developmental promotion than either party will ever admit. Paul cause he wants credit and wwe cause they don’t want to be liable for all the people Paul owes money to. Like Justin credible was probably under a wwe contract his whole run.

They had a partnership even having talent arrangements like Van Dam working Raw and ECW had some music licensing agreement (yes, they actually had one) they let WWF use Scorpio for.
