This one tweet explains why WWE perpetually shatters records and AEW is withering
>>19789491Does anyone even watch AEW outside of trannies?
>>19789491That's only true if you've never heard of Verne Gagne. Verne would admit Hulk Hogan was a huge draw but he felt the need to let you know that Hogan didn't know a wristlock from a wristwatch.
>>19789597By the 80s Verne was a pretty shit promoter desu
So you'd rather watch a Jey Uso match over Chris Benoit? Cool bro. Have fun.
>twitter screencap threadinto the trash it goes
>>19789597Ideally I'd imagine you'd want a combination of both. But if I had to give weight to one or the other, it would be in favor of the guy who sells tickets and draws money. That implies a connection with the audience on some level. He's entertaining fans to a degree that they want to pay money to see him. And entertaining fans is the name of the game.Oddly enough, I say that as someone who prefers sports-presentation and only watches Japanese wrestling these days. But great matches by themselves ain't shit - people have to want to see you put them on.
>>19789628Yes, and judging by WWE breaking records, millions of other people around the world would rather, too.
>>19789628This is from a promoter perspective. Business-wise, a promoter would rather have someone that is tolerable in the ring and can sell merch like Jey rather than an amazing wrestler that doesn't draw much money like Benoit
>>19789628Chris Benoit held the world title longer than Jey
>>19789722Yeah but he's not a promoter. He's a fan. "Actually I'd rather watch the guy who sells the most tshirts" is a gay take.
love hearing opinions on how business should work from terminally only NEET e-drones
>>19789693I'll add that part of the problem is the way people are booked as faces and heels.Obviously, there are exceptions, but got a charismatic guy who plays well to the crowd? Traditionally, you make him a face. Got a guy who can go but does fuck-all in terms of winning the crowd over? Make him a heel and have him do bad guy shit - if he can't win fans over, at the very least he can be a good in-ring foil against wrestlers who can.Not a hard rule, of course - there have been some hyper-charismatic heels all throughout history (Gorgeous George wasn't a face). But people should be coming to see your faces, and uncharismatic babyface who can put on really good matches has a very low ceiling.
>>19789767>no, you can't share your opinions about pro-wrestling on the pro-wrestling board!
>>19789781>x guy is a better wrestler because he sells more tickets and a promoter would like him more!!!>do you have any business experience to back that up?>no but->do you have a job?>no but->do you live in your mothers basement?>yes but->we're through here
>>19789781WWE isn't pro wrestling. Additionally, you can't have an opinion on business of any kind if you've never held a job.
>>19789802>>19789806You're seething because you know I'm right.
>>19789802cooked that pig>>19789817get a job
And he goes on seething.
>>19789802You don't need any business experience to note certain observational truthsThat said it's all kind of a pointless discussion because it's used to prong at what's popular as low-quality and them doing business isn't indicative of being good when all the shitters that don't draw are usually trash too
>>19789597Because Verne was salty over losing Hulk and Gene and went out of business.
>>19789628In a vacuum I'd rather watch Benoit, but wrestling doesn't consist entirely of heatless bangers. Jey has added to a lot more programs of interest than Benoit ever did.
WWE have zero draws and zero talented wrestlers. They win
>>19789515Afraid not
>>19789491Okay, then how come Vince chose to take the belt off the proven draw of Superstar Billy Graham to put the belt on Bob Backlund? Warrior drew lots of money but no sane person would say he was better than, say, Bret Hart and that includes every booker who ever drew a dime.
>>19789491Carnies didn't travel the country putting up tents just to rassle for the fun of it.Ok, I'm sure some of them did, but not too many that stayed open for long.Cash generation was a top priority to anyone wanting to be in the wrestling business.Kids of billionaires don't have to worry about selling tickets because they have unlimited funds.
>>19789491this tweet made the pedocord aka the woodditard discord server fucking seethe
>>19791017Elaborate
>>19789802he (the pig) is melting down in the cord about this one
I’m not a promoter so why should I give a single iota of a fuck who makes money for other people and use it as a measure for my enjoyment?
AEW lost over half its viewers, WWE used to get 6-8 milly every week and can’t even get 1 now. The new way Nielsen calculates ratings has led to record high ratings for every other live sport on television but it’s caused wrestling ratings to crater. Safe to say “wrestling” is for retarded brown faggots since WCW closed down and arguing over which irrelevant sports entertainment crap gets more jeets and faggots tuning in is deranged.
>>19790171>C>O>C>K
>>19791083Wrestling today exclusively appeals to Reddit and Twitter
>>19789491high work rate means they work while high?
>>19789628chris benoit was a bigger draw than jey
