Savage was nowhere near as popular as Hogan. He had fans and so did the Ultimate Warrior but Hogan was the Optimus Prime of WWF, the Duke, the Lion-O, the Pikachu, the franchise. Hogan was more of a brand than a wrestler. Grown ups though, they really liked Savage. Hulk Hogan was for the children.
