This is the destination for all based webms, brotherOn tonight's docket: NJPW Road to the New Beginning, Dragon Gate, GLEAT and more!
>>19846907Blessed thread. Also what a rough bump for a dude Hartley's size.
Such a good spot.>>19846916Yeah, absolutely insane. I don't expect to be blown away by anything Hartley does, but a hoss match in Korakuen is always going to be fun as a baseline. I feel like they went above and beyond, with the brawling in it. Fun stuff.
It's kind of the bare minimum, but I really liked the ultra-simple story they told of Kato's arm offense vs. Murashima's power. You don't need much more.
>>19846954feel like 'above and beyond' can be applied to boltin on at least a weekly basis. Almost like they have some gold there and better treat it with care using it for its value
Really nice conversion work here. I'll be honest, I was going into this tournament thinking of Nagai as Murashima's generational rival and, while I still sort of do, Kato looked really good in his matches.>>19847028I agree. I'm still a bit salty over his treatment in the HoT NEVER feud. My personal wish is that Goto-gun takes off as a proper stable and he can be in a strong second position there.
I like the detail of Kato going to pull Murashima's arm away but the grip being too strong.
>>19846916>>19846954Hartley is actually surprisingly good, but I can never really get into his matches because I just start worrying about him because he looks like he's on the verge of death.
GO MURASHIMA GOReally well-deserved win. Still feels like it should've been over Nagai to me, but it makes sense that the finals would be between the two seniors who have no faction alignment. Really good stuff, I would love if every generation of Young Lions got a proper tournament like this.>>19847174I will say, while I still won't call him good, I have been very pleasantly surprised by him in NJPW coming off watching him in GLEAT. They know what they're doing when presenting him.
God forgive a guy has hobbies.
>guy competes in hole digging one (1) time>alright so you're gonna enter with a shovel and do a shovel pose and then we'll do a spot where you dig in a guy's ass using your fingers
DIMES AS FUCK
I'm all for Henare getting more pins, especially with some more heel flair in there. I don't really see what was wrong with Streets of Rage, though. This feels a little too "clean" for what he's doing, if that makes sense.
>>19846954>>19846994>>19847034>>19847078>>19847138>>19847159I'm fucking all in on Murashima ladsI love him. He oozes IT, whatever IT is
>>19847585100% same. He was absolutely the correct choice to win the Young Lion cup. I hope he gets sent on an excursion to somewhere that understands his strengths and builds on them. I'd hate to see him come back doing moonsaults. He should capitalize on being 5'4 and 240 pounds and just run over niggas.
>>19847612He should get the Oiwa excursion to be honest, I think it'd help him the most
>>19847631Yeah, I think NOAH would do the most for him too. Just throw him in a cage with Yone and have them do hoss-offs for eight months then bring him back.
>>19847612>>19847631I say 'fuck it' send him around the world Tiger Mask style.
>>19847709I do really like this finisher, it's a great combo.
>>19847721The issue with this is finding enough places that are good enough for it. WXW worked great for Oskar and Ice and probably would work great for Murashima too. Mexico seems to have good results, but he's not exactly a lucha guy and there's the coinflip chance of him coming back mindbroken after being molested by the cartel. The UK has >britwres and aside from that there's what, the US?>>19847734I think it helps that everyone bumps like crazy for it. Ishii landed directly on his skull for it.
>>19847807>I think it helps that everyone bumps like crazy for it. Ishii landed directly on his skull for it.honestly it's probably hard to control your bump when you're also taking a lariat at the same time
>>19846907Hell of a bump
It immediately made a lot of sense to me to let Zane get over with moves given his in-ring experience. It felt like he wasn't really connecting as a barebones Young Lion, and I say that as someone who loves the stripped-down style AND liked him pre-debut.
EATING it. Can't tell if the Young Lion at the barricade was selling for it or actually went down. Owns either way.
>>19847807>NOAH>WXW>Softground>CMLL>JCW
HUGE
>>19848330impressive
BOING
huh what u mean
>tfw people consider Saturn mediocre but when you compare him to today's wrestlers he's literally on the Mt. Rushmoore.
>>19848703Fucked up the aspect ratio on this.>>19848707I can't claim to be super familiar, but I've really liked what little I've seen of Saturn. He's charismatic and his moveset rocks.
>>19848753He never got pushed because, y'know, he's only like 5'10". And then Vince saddled him with a joke gimmick because "lol short" wcw guy"
>>19848770Could just be because I got into wrestling through Japanese stuff, but the heightism thing is so fucking weird. Like yeah, I get that to an extent your look defines what you should do in the ring, but Saturn is in no way visually small enough to be restricted in that way. There's also a degree of Vince being Vince in that, I get that, but still.
I'm not sure what to call this but I like it. Helps that Zack cranks it on like crazy.
>>19848910He definitely had an interesting moveset. Dude would drop high flying lucha moves, do a ton of suplexes, and some karate stuff. Had a great workrate.
>>19846907that bump is the coolest thing i've seen in wrestling about a week. incredible sequence there.
REAL SHIT. More of this in my NJPW please.
HOLY FUCKING YEN
I really love this over-animated chop and block sequence.
Next up's GLEAT ver. 22!
>>19849535...And that webm is from G-Pro 101! My bad. THis is Ver. 22!
Owns
Ow.
Ow. (1)
>>19846907Haha time for the best thread of the week
>>19849802Happy to have you here, brother.
>>19849404NJPW has a lot really promising young guys.
>>19849816I agree. Oiwa's especially great in my opinion, but he's sort of undersold by the company. I really wish he'd have won that match.
>>19849844>>19849404that match was a window into his futureOiwa will be the Goto of his generation: always the guy they overcome, never on top until way too late
What a fucking opening. I hope it's not too smarky to say that this opening feels like a direct homage to Shibata vs. Akiyama.>>19849887I fear you might be right, but I really do hope they learned from the Goto reign and they give it to him in his 30s instead of his mid-40s.
>>19849891With this paired with it, especially.
>>19849887Don't you put this evil on us>>19849809Y-you too>>19847585>>19847612Based little niBBa bros
God damn.
BIG suplexes.
This lead to, as I'm sure some of you know, a very unfortunate medical stoppage. I felt bad about how much I liked this match, espectially given Funaki's age and all, but he was discharged from the hospital the same day and is already wrestling again.
>selling the hand after the chopAlways yen
Damn.
This move really deserves a revival. It's so sick.
>>19850451These last few are from G-Pro 101.
>>19850766Luigi Primo is still a thing? When is this from?
>>19850789He's been in GLEAT on and off, this is his third or fourth appearance for them I believe. He's not as blacklisted as you think, it's just the major American companies that said no-no, the Japs don't give a shit about that. This show's from the 20th of January this year.
Fucking Christ, man.
>>19850806I didn't necessarily think he was blacklisted. Just that he was a meme and his 15 minutes were up
What a weird way to debut your heel persona. I get that this is more of a Kawakami title match build-squash than it is a JD Lee showcase, and also that Anti-GLE far outrank BGI on the heel power rankings, but still, both of them could've just wrestled someone else. Such a weird choice.>>19850918That's totally fair and I am personally pretty over it. You kinda get all there is to it after one match, but the GLEAT crowd are still popping for it so I get why he gets to come back. Granted, that's the same crowd that pops like crazy for Kotaro Suzuki of all people, so take it with a grain of salt.
That's all for me for today! Tomorrow I'm going to have parts of Dragongate's Open the New Year Gate tour for you all, and we'll probably close out with a stroll down the King's Road as well, so stay tuned! Thanks to everyone who popped in, lurked and posted. I'll see you all tomorrow. Goodnight, bros.
what if i were to bump the webm thread tho
>>19846907can you do both table spots please?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3Fvs2eHRIA
33:45 - the northern lights suplex from here?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx32-ERY2MM
I once posted some European stuff (I think it was Germany's wXw, Finland's FCF and maybe some of Belgium's Bodyzoi) Hoping to pop in with some more wXw and maybe some other European wrestling
I'm back! Thank you all for keeping us bumped. I'm starting back up with Dragon Gate!>>19851664But first, your requests! Here you go.>>19852332Any OC is good OC, but I'd love to see more WXW.
>opponent so fat you can't even bridgeJej>>19851935And this, just in case you're not the same guy.
This is DragonGate's Open the New Year Gate show from 10.01.2026, the evening show. Unfortunately I could only find the DG Network rip of this show, so it's a little crusty at parts.
CHOPPA
Really animated, but in a good way.
I'm willing to say that the "best worked knee" crown should now officially be passed to Mochi Jr. Goddamn.
Bases
I really like how this is shot, feels like you're wtahcing a bar fight break out with the staredown in the foreground and the mayhem behind them.
>genuine tekken anti-airDimes as fuck
I wonder why more heels don't do the frustrated strikes after breaking out of a submission. Fits the persona so well.
SLAPPA
>>19854551Cut this down a little too just because I found the spot funny.
God damn. Grandpa in the first row catching strays.
These past two are from night 4 of the tour, from 11.01.2026.
SMJ's powerslams are so beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful.
God this suplex owns.
WEE
God this facebreaker leg lariat combo is so sick.
HUGE POP
I fucking love a good worked haraigoshi.>>19855518Finally onto the January 18th show! I've got the GAORA rip of this one, so the webms look a lot better.
FROM DOWNTOWN
Whatever the fuck this slam variation is, it rocks. Not sure what it's called, or if it's even named yet.
He tried so hard...
MEOW MEOW SHOT DEAD IN TOKYO
GO MOCHI GO
HUGE Boss. What an insane transformation, holy shit. He looks like a Tekken character in the best way.
Just downright silly. Rocks.
I really like the "well, what is it" before he goes down. Fits the character super well.
Crazy that Kzy manages to do all this flailing and still bumps perfectly safely. So impressive.
>>19853987thought I'd see if I could find some puro imports. Journey took me to Scandinavia in 2021 when Francesco Akira (AJPW/NJPW) faced off against Ender Kara (BJW/GLEAT)
So much fucking weight on these musous, god DAMN.
Christ this is scary.>>19856093Hell yeah, I love to see the OC, been a while since we had some. This webm looks great, by the way! Nice work.
>>19855802>>19856163Maybe it's the powerbomb. But this is the transformation Gunther wishes he had
folded!
Sure, pop-out seat and all, but this has to fucking RUIN your shoulders. Look at the force on that.>>19856182Damn, what a Slingblade. He's around him before you can blink.>>19856206Kinda wish they'd left that on the dropkick. Good shit though.
>>19856224Yeah they tend to overdo some stuff. But this is also 2021, so Akira just before him entering NJPW and Kara just finished his wXw year and is back to Scandinavian purgatory. So I guess its just two young guys showing what they can do and hoping some promoters take notice
I honestly kind of liked the double-tap on this, but the double pose takes away from it. I'm fine with the single one.>>19856241I think Akira got a lot better about that in NJPW. Kara's one of those guys that really suffer from the more-moves-more-faster-more-often curse from what I've seen of him, which admittedly isn't much. His sells are surprisingly good for a guy like that, though.
I had to clip this when I was watching
I'll close out with some quick King's Road strolls! This is Kobashi/Akiyama vs. Takayama/Kakihara from 28.02.1998, part of the UWF-i semi-invasion in AJPW you'll see much more of as I continue covering '98. It's really fun stuff.>>19856256God I love Suzuki so much.
>>19856252Yeah, great crumple physics. I think that's the problem of being a wrestler from a country where the wrestling scene isn't even small, but tiny. You are stuck wrestling the same 10-20 people unless your promoters are bringing in quality imports. The only way to really improve is to break out into another wrestling scene. But how do you break out when your wrestling scene is largely ignored? I've seen some Scandinavian wrestlers break into the Japanese scene recently, so there is some growth happening in the scene. Like Ender Kara in BJW/GLEAT, and some of the women in Stardom, TJPW, SEAdLINNNG. But most of Jap excursions results in basics & smoothness and general more-moves-more-faster-more-often. I think they'd benefit by some UK or US excursions.
Aaaaaaand away you go!
Third one right to the jaw, ouch.
Kakihara's got such a vibe to him, he's got this awesome "cocky jobber with too much confidence" thig I love. Also, what a suplex.
that's the match
AKIYAMA WITH THE FUJITA SPECIAL>>19856382Sick buzzsaw sell there.
The lift on this is so awesome.
That's all for me for this week! Next week you can expect highlights from NJPW The New Beginning, NOAH's Tag League, GLEAT and maybe more! It's been a pleasure having you all in my thread. Thank you all for taking some time out of your weekends to pop in, and a special thank you to the anon who made OCs! I'd love to see more of that. I'll see you all next week. Goodnight, bros.
>>19853987>>19854025thank you bro
