PR is a very small place and is smaller than New Jersey.

Carlos Colon's WWC was the only major promotion there until the 90's. Carlos was the biggest wrestling star there. Like all promoters, he pushed himself and his kids as the top stars to protect the company. The AWF and later the IWA became competition in the 1990's. IWA-PR still exists today and is the 2nd major promotion. They are basically the WWF/WCW of Puerto Rico. GZW, which is also owned by a Colon, is like the 3rd biggest promotion and there's some smaller indies there as well. I have some reviews up on my site if you want to get an idea about them.

They have their own unique style. It's a basic American style and they brawl and bleed a lot. Most of the wrestlers are pretty solid workers who know how to throw a punch and know how to be faces or heels Most feds also have an Attitude Era style booking to them with owners/GM's fighting the main heel or face. There's a lot of talking, but thanks to youtube's subtitles, we can get translations.

You can only watch WWC in the US if you buy the cable package for it. WWC used to upload it on their youtube but their TV network told them to stop. IWA and the other feds air on Saturday's and Sundays on youtube for free.

The IWC never really cared about PR because Meltzer never talked about it. Even though it's mostly fully available, nobody watches it or talks about it in English IWC circles. I want to cover it regularly, just I'm very short on time and it's tough because nobody else watches it.

PR's size is the main thing that holds it back. There's not enough towns or people to make it bigger than it is.
