Vegas is kind of shit and they just ran Mania there last year. Now we have the news of watchalongs being cancelled all over Vegas. HHH deserves a lot of the blame but not all of it. Indies are down too. Part of the fun of Mania weekend is traveling to a new city (or one you haven't visited in a while) and I think a lot of the people who traditionally fly in are staying home this year in part because of that. It doesn't help that Vegas is obscenely expensive (airfare, hotels, food, etc.).

I went last year with my brother and we thought about going again this year but figured the experience would be mostly the exact same and we would rather use the money to travel somewhere new

Except unlike Disney who can build a new park or buy a new media franchise, WWE is trading on its brand name and nostalgia. People will spend tens of thousands to go see legends,the total weekend experience with the podcasts,etc. They won't do it twice. They are running out of upper middle class millennials and they priced out actual current product fans.
