why are some fans so upset if a wrestler jumps ship? i've heard some call out people like cawdy for "using" tony khan/the aew guys as if that's a bad thing? Why SHOULD someone be loyal to a company and not just go to the best offer at the time especially in such a risky and body-destroying career as wrestling?
because internet wrestling fans are parasocial weirdos
>>19864832Pretty much this, also some tribalism thing. You don't want a top player for your favorite team to go somewhere else.
>>19864896The companies down to the local shindie level are also not very distinct from each other these days. Even with the WWE/AEW console war, I think we don't get the "you sold out" toxicity anymore because it's obvious the guy is just going to do the same shit
>>19863759It makes sense to want your favorite wrestlers to wrestle in your favorite company. What's weird about the occasional seethe over Cody is that the fans literally booed him out of the company.
>>19863759I've mentioned this before but the Elite have the weirdest fans who think they are friends with kenny and the bucks and have hated cody for ages for 'ruining' the friendship or whatever. People think aew fans turned on cody but they already hated him from the new japan days
>>19863759the fans are loyal to the company and expect the wrestlers to also be
>>19866175t. Still calls Danielson ungrateful & disloyal because he went to AEW
