Rikishi's babyface character would never have lasted. That's why he turned heel. His character was essentially a comedy gimmick, given his whole thing was being a fat ass wearing a thong that dances to hip hop. The thinking was to turn him heel and give his character some depth before turning him face again. He even got to work a program with Stone Cold, which was huge for anybody. But yes, WWE writers fumbled him. They had to risk it though.
