Luchabros make a /lucha/ general please. It's the perfect time for it, with Fantastica Mania going on with CMLL and AAA all over WWE. I want to watch more lucha but I need a general to lurk in so I can figure out what the fuck is going on.

You can't call AAA "lucha" anymore if 85% of its roster is WWE crap. And the few mexican luchadores they have are trash. What WWE fans who claim to love AAA are currently watching is not AAA, but WWE (in a cheap version with some mexican shitters as guests).

The real AAA was still great 10 years ago when it started to die, but what people know as AAA today has nothing to do with AAA.
>>
>>19896574
that is unironically the type of thing I want to lurk in a /lucha/ general to learn more about
>>
>>19896688
CMLL could make so much more money if they just hired two guys who can speak english. theyre leaving huge amounts of money on the table by not doing so.
>>
>>19896688
The problem is that outside of CMLL, and the Taco Bell-style abomination that is now AAA, the rest of mexican lucha is very dispersed. It's an extremely active but very dispersed scene. You could say that the third "important" company in Mexico is IWRG, which is another breeding ground for talent but is very little known (the curious thing is that, unlike AAA, IWRG also has its own arena). IWRG is funny because is a game of russian roulette; in the same show it can offer truly awful shitty dimeless matches followed by true gems out of nowhere. That's where some luchadores develop who later become big stars in the world, such as Dragon Bane and Alpha Wolf (Los Golpeadores), or Daga and Galeno del Mal, who triumphed in Japan. Furthermore, it's the only promotion that interacts with both AAA and CMLL.

The fourth company might be "The Crash," but they only put on one show a month. Their strength lies in bringing in famous wrestlers from all over the world and putting on amazing dream matches alongside mexican luchadores.

Aside from that, everything else is an independent scene. Very active, as I said, but it's hard to keep track of everything because there's just too much. Currently, the most talked-about rivalry is between Demonio Infernal and Fresero Jr., who used to be friends but are now enemies. LA Park and his sons vs La Puerkiza Extrema (3 big, obese guys with sadistic pig masks who like to fight in extreme style). There are too many wrestlers who will probably not be known internationally, but in Mexico they are very loved. And in the independent scene, so many things are happening that I can't even name them all.

But yeah, maybe a /lucha/ would be good just so we could talk about all that, even though most of the people here are just WWE-addicted s.i.m.p. pigs that what interests them least is the wrestling.

I can make do a schedule/cards like in the >>19896064 OP if it helps. I'll need some critique from luchabros about doing it properly and what to include. Also I don't know where AAA's schedule is. I googled it and WWE lists results and AAA lists a stuffed iguana for sale.

AAA’s new format under WWE is that they film in blocks, so the card for 2/21 was shot and you can find results for it. Next live show is 2/28, which they will film matches to show on 3/7 as well. 3/14 is Rey De Reyes 2026 which has Dominik Mysterio defending the Mega Championship against Vikingo. I can share further details when the thread is made.
>>
>>19896833
I don't think it's going to work, first you need many mexicans here because nobody here cares about lucha tbqh. The piggies pretend to LARP that they love AAA, but that's because it's now a sub-brand of WWE. Nobody here knows or is interested in knowing who Hellboy, or Caballero de Plata, or Tonalli, or Charro Negro, or Emperador Azteca or DMT Azul or Demonio Infernal are. Mexican lucha fans are usually in Facebook or Discord groups, not here.

>>
>>19911209
Basically, talent on excursion in Mexico are sent to live with Okamura and his wife, who have long lived in Mexico and worked in CMLL. With Hiromu, he took to Mexico very well and got over with his Dragon Lee feud quickly. Kawato on the other hand was completely lost and couldn’t perform to expectations initially, so he phoned in matches and spent his days being combative about his excursion. The New Japan office was not sympathetic to his attitude, and told Okamura to be tougher on him, resulting in a brief solid streak for him in 2019. Unfortunately he suffered a knee injury, came back to feud with an exótico, lost his hair and only got called back to do the Master Wato gimmick because COVID hit. Honestly a terrible excursion for a lion who was cooking when he left on a tag win.

>However, isn't it too sentimental to view this phenomenon solely as a "tragedy"?
>What is happening in the world of professional wrestling right now is no different from the "MLB (Major League Baseball) challenge" in the world of baseball; it is a legitimate career choice for professionals.
>I would like to take another look at the shock of the "exodus of key players" that hit New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the cold-hearted business reality behind it, and the life of a professional wrestler today.
>>
>>19912111
>Strong Style" Crosses the Ocean: The Pro Wrestling Market is "Moving Like MLB"

>In the past, when a Japanese professional wrestler left a promotion, it was often accompanied by complicated interpersonal relationships and political conflicts, such as being "expelled," "poached," or "betrayed."
>The history of professional wrestling in the Showa era was exactly that history.

>However, things are different now. When Shinsuke Nakamura left for WWE , or Kazuchika Okada chose AEW , was there any bitterness about the two teams parting ways?
>What was there must have been a genuine desire to "step up" as an athlete.
>I want you to think about this in terms of baseball.
>When Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto left Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and moved to Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States, did we call them "traitors"?

>No, the whole country would have cheered on a player who had achieved overwhelming success in Japan as he took on the world in search of a higher level and a bigger market.

>What is happening in New Japan Pro-Wrestling today is essentially the same thing. Former wrestlers like Shinsuke Nakamura and Kazuchika Okada, as well as Tetsuya Naito, Hiromu Takahashi, and EVIL.

>After reaching the pinnacle of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the "Japanese major league," he declared free agency in search of the next battlefield or the next stage in life.
>Isn't that the most natural and respectful way to look at it?

>A professional wrestler's career is short. You never know when you might suffer a serious injury and be unable to step back into the ring.
>As an artist and as a self-employed person, it is an extremely healthy desire to seek a place where you can maximize your value within that limited time, a place where you can see exciting new scenery.
>>
>>19912114
>The biggest factor accelerating this "exodus" is the unavoidable reality of the crucial difference in business scale between Japan and the United States, namely the issue of "money."
>Due in part to the weak yen, the economic gap between Japan and the United States is widening.

>Huge American organizations like WWE and AEW are expanding their businesses on a global scale, backed by huge broadcasting rights fees. The market size is on a completely different level from that of Japanese professional wrestling organizations.

>As can be seen from the rumored annual salary of Kazuchika Okada when he transferred and Shohei Ohtani's signing bonus, the current situation is that the amount of compensation paid to top athletes far exceeds the limit that can be paid in Japan.
>New Japan Pro-Wrestling boasts an overwhelming scale in Japan, but it is obvious that it cannot compete in a "money game" with the huge American capital that is developing a global strategy.
>Some wrestlers say, "I don't do professional wrestling for the money." That's a noble goal.

>However, as a "professional," who can blame him for choosing a place where the value of his body is evaluated in monetary terms?
>Raising a family, thinking about life after retirement, and above all, wanting to be "the best in the world."
>This is also the driving force for professional wrestlers, who are full of a hungry spirit.

>There was a time when the pride that "Japan is the pinnacle of professional wrestling" kept wrestlers engaged.

>However, with the spread of the Internet, professional wrestling from all over the world can now be viewed in real time, and American rings are also continuing to evolve in terms of technology, production, and entertainment.

>In addition to making money, players can also become known around the world. With such attractive offers, it is no longer possible to tie players down based on obligation or personal feelings alone.
>>
>>19912118
>Of all the mass exoduses, the one that has most affected fans is the mass departure of members from Los Ingobernables de Japon (L.I.J.).

>Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, BUSHI, and Hiromu Takahashi. SANADA is absent from the series with an "undecided return date."
>However, it would be premature to call this a "sad ending." L.I.J. was a collection of uncontrollable individuals.
>They are a group that dislikes getting too close to each other and each strives to be the best. This is what makes them shine.

>Tetsuya Naito won every belt in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and fulfilled his dream of singing along at the Tokyo Dome.

>Hiromu Takahashi broke the boundaries of the junior heavyweight division and established an era as the absolute champion.

>EVIL took the powerful drug of betrayal with his own hands and reached the pinnacle of heeldom.
>They painted the canvas of New Japan Pro-Wrestling with their own colors to the point that there was no more room left to paint.

>Some felt they had nothing left to do, some left with mixed feelings, and some were in search of a new frontier - each with their own thoughts as they set off.

>Just as a rock band at the height of its popularity might disband due to differences in musical style or new challenges, L.I.J. too has gone their separate ways, each with their own memories of their most beautiful moments still intact.

>Tetsuya Naito's departure from the organization means that the story of "Tetsuya Naito of New Japan Pro-Wrestling" has come to an end.

>Hiromu Takahashi's departure means that "TIME BOMB" has found a bigger target to explode.

>Their choice is not a letter of severance from New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
>It is an expression of his gratitude to the ring that raised him and his sense of responsibility for his own life as a wrestler.
>>
>>19912133
>New Japan Pro-Wrestling has seen Hiroshi Tanahashi retire and Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito leave.

>Some people lament that it's all over, but I want you to look back at history.
>Antonio Inoki left, Riki Choshu left, the Three Musketeers left, Shinsuke Nakamura left, and each time, it was said that New Japan Pro-Wrestling was over.
>However, each time, a new star is born and weaves the era. Who will be next?

>Right now, in the center of the ring is Yota Tsuji, who has regained the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

>It's not just his rivals of the same generation who are after Tsuji's head.
>Their contemporaries, Umino Shota, Narita Ren, and Uemura Yuya, do not hide their burning jealousy, while the dominating Great-O-Khan, the monstrous Voltin Oleg, and young talents such as Oiwa Ryohei and Yuto-Ice are all eyeing the top spot.

>Furthermore, KONOSUKE TAKESHITA (AEW/DDT), a man who knows the world, will show off strength on a different level, while Jake Lee, who is aiming for a "grand slam" of complete domination of the domestic majors, will also exude an eerie presence.
>The icing on the cake is the participation of judo gold medalist Wolf Aaron in professional wrestling. The participation of the Olympic champion will bring an unpredictable chemical reaction to the IWGP front.

>Of course, New Japan's gatekeepers are not going to just sit back and watch.
>Veterans such as "Wild Warrior" Goto Hirooki and "Energetic Uncle" Takagi Shingo are standing in the way of the younger competitors with their skilled techniques and determination, and have not given up on the chance to win the championship in one go.
>Looking at the foreign wrestlers, Zack Sabre Jr. stands in the way of the new generation as the "strongest foreigner," while Gabe Kidd rampages around carrying the hottest "New Japan spirit" of all.
>The battle for the revived IWGP Heavyweight Championship ushered in an unprecedented era of "warring states," centered around Yota Tsuji.
>>
>>19912145
>Just as Hiroshi Tanahashi once put his body on the line despite booing and led the organization to a V-shaped recovery, now it's Yota Tsuji and his team's turn to create a new New Japan Pro-Wrestling with their own hands.
>Just as the NPB, which sends players to the Major Leagues, has never declined, New Japan Pro-Wrestling will continue to be the top ring that produces talent for the world.
>And from this, another monster is born that will astonish the world. This cycle is the source of Lion Mark's strength, which has continued for over 50 years.

>The enthusiasm, emotion, and courage they left behind for New Japan Pro-Wrestling will never fade, even though they have left the company.

>Professional wrestlers are travelers. Staying in one place is not the answer. They have chosen to leave the company or transfer to another company.

>If you think of it this way, rather than "abandoning New Japan Pro-Wrestling," you'll feel a sense of pride rather than loneliness.

>The wrestlers nurtured by Japanese professional wrestling are now highly regarded and sought after around the world, which is also a victory for the entire Japanese professional wrestling world.

>That's why a somber farewell doesn't suit them. As they depart, I want to send them words of gratitude and the biggest round of applause, rather than shouting abuse.
>And we would like to continue to cheer on the remaining fighters who will grit their teeth and fight in the ring now that they are gone.

>Times change. Wrestlers change. But the power of the professional wrestling genre to stir human emotions never changes.

>New Japan Pro-Wrestling is currently at a major turning point, but beyond that lies a new landscape that no one has ever seen before.

>Good luck to those who leave and those who stay

He keeps saying in the media that he wants to make 100 million yen.

Getting tired about reading how broke and/or stingy the company has been lately, at the end of the day there needs to be some fucking money. nobody respects yota tsuji. he's a pampered tanahashi guy leeching off of naito cutting half hearted "shoot" promos right after having the most mediocre performances you've ever seen. just give yuya the cup and the title already

They never ever market it efficiently. No commercials, Aew doesn't promote, no flyers. Gonna be depressing when G1 gets 1500
>>

The lack of AEW promotion seems downright spiteful or at least wholly ignorant. I remember when Mox was IWGP champ they never talked about anything going on in NJPW (while having title matches on Dynamite).

remember when everyone was pointing out how little AEW was promoting Wrestle Dynasty and some stooge tried to push a story about how they were blocked from promoting it, even though Mercedes had a whole segment talking about facing Mina Shirakawa on that show?

oh and Mina signed less than half a year later for AEW, imagine that

Japanese wrestling is not strong enough to demand equality.
Make your product better and bigger, and then you will be in a better position.

>The reason Mr. Chono didn't give President Tanahashi a bouquet
Apparently, he got a bit annoyed when TV staff or someone from NJPW casually asked him, "Since you're doing commentary, should we give him a bouquet?" and he declined.
Then rumors started spreading within NJPW that Mr. Chono dislikes Tanahashi.
