>Trish Stratus believes that everything happens for a reason, so when the World Wrestling Federation signed her to a contract last March, she reasoned that it was her opportunity to shine. Now, one year later, Trish’s star is burning brighter than ever and World Wrestling Federation Magazine’s 2000 Diva of the Year appears poised to re-define the very definition of the term “Diva.” Yet for all her success, Trish is far from content, and as every Federation fan knows, she’ll stop at nothing to achieve her goals. >Fiercely protective of both her personal life and professional goals, Trish agreed in this exclusive interview to discuss her feelings about other Divas and Superstars as well as provide some insights into her life away from the ring.
>WWF Magazine: Do you participate in any other sports besides wrestling?>Trish Stratus: I weight train regularly and play soccer and field hockey.>WWF: If you weren’t in the WWF right now what would you be doing?>Trish: I’d be in the middle of med school on my way to becoming a doctor. You know a lot people don’t realize that there is more to me than just beauty and brawn. I also have brains.>WWF: You were a fitness model before coming to the World Wrestling Federation. What’s the biggest difference between wrestling and being a fitness model?>Trish: The biggest difference is that it’s much more challenging to entertain live crowds and television audiences than it is to pose in front of a camera. You have to constantly be on top of your game, but it’s something that I relish. I love the challenge.>WWF: You certainly seem to have a distinct fashion sense. How would you characterize your style?>Trish: My style reflects who I am. If you want to see it, I’ll show you—that is, if I want to.>WWF: What was it about Test & Albert that drew you to them?>Trish: They are powerful, strong guys, probably two of the biggest and strongest in the Federation. At the time, I thought they would be the perfect foundation for T&A, and that they would be able to help me achieve my goals.>WWF: Would you like to be more active in the ring?>Trish: I am comfortable in any role that I need to assume in order to achieve my goals.>WWF: What are your goals?>Trish: Keep watching…>WWF: Can you see yourself as the Federation Women’s Champion?>Trish: Yes. I think that gold would look good on me, don’t you? I realize that there are a lot of good athletes here, but I’m ready to take on anyone.>WWF: Are there any women who you fear?>Trish: Trish Stratus fears no one.>WWF: Are other women in the Federation threatened or intimidated by you?>Trish: I think all the women know there are serious consequences to crossing me.
>Trish: I also think that they are threatened by the fact that I have beauty, brains and brawn. Some might be jealous and others just plain scared, but I can assure you that there are more than a few Divas who are intimidated by me.>WWF: What do you think of Americans?>Trish: Second to Canadians.>WWF: Skirts or pants?>Trish: Depends on what job I’ve got to get done.>WWF: Is Trish looking for love?
