Punk has been creatively effective in directing his own feuds since returning, against McIntyre and Seth especially, but his face-to-face promo battles are wearing thin at this point. He just did another one with Balor, and apparently they struggled to sell out Chicago (the basis for a Roman verbal jab tonight, lost on most of the audience so it didn't land). So we're being given a main event program that is following the same basic formula Punk has followed for short-term builds, and worst of all, he's following this now-tired formula against a guy who apparently refuses to work more than two dates a month. Roman's promo the night after Rumble was the best thing on Raw in ages, but both of their promos tonight were so bad that I'd like to see them both squashed by Trick Willy. It was the same material, delivered with less emotion and shittier lines. Roman's mic drop and walk off moment before being interrupted got no reaction, and Punk's closing line about Sika confused everyone. It sucked.
