I met Bryce at a PWG show, I don’t even remember if he reffed, I think he was just there to sell Hero and Claudio’s merch. Nice guy, was a lot of fun in Chikara. That said I don’t think AEW has ever done a ref spot, be it a bump or a just being distracted that didn’t look like total shit.
MJF kicking the ref might have been done too subtly for a live crowd even if it looked fine enough for the TV angles. Given a climb to the top rope is typically done in a way to draw and hold attention, it's easy to miss and have the spot imply the ref simply tripped getting out of the way of the move.The little frog hops on the count are laughable. I would assume this was done just to keep the heat down on the chick ref that's always trying to upstage the wrestlers. If there all clowns, you can't get mad at just one.
