I don't know about Shota. I absolutely believe he's gonna go far, but I feel like they've correctly reevaluated him with the reactions he's been getting. I have him losing to Oiwa in quarters, but now that I say that out loud that feels like total mark booking. My """dark horse""", using that term very lightly, is Newman. I feel like it's a semi-expected push given that he's coming off a Finlay win and all, it's more a dark horse in the "I don't want this to happen" way.

Honestly, his reign was all you need to convince me there's money in Goto. That was booked so strangely. I'd happily see it, the issue is I think now is the time to elevate more young guys. Tsuji being a clear top guy is great, but he needs more guys from his generation to feud with.

Yeah, that's a totally fair point and something I wasn't considering. I think that can potentially do great things for him, too. I still don't love the way he wrestles and I don't think he's very good at character work yet, but I think him turning heel has added some spice that he was lacking and I actually really did like the Ospreay interaction, as overdramatic as it was. I don't actually want this to happen, but I think him challenging Ospreay after a NJC win would be neat. One time, just once, I'd like to see a tournament winner challenge anyone except the top belt holder, since in kayfabe they technically have a right to ANY match, not just the IWGP. I guess "any match" technically wouldn't count people under non-NJPW contracts, but still. I like the idea of someone being so worked that they forgo a championship opportunity just to get the match they want.

Match was fine. Zoltan is like n early Tihany (his trainer) or even an early Will Ospreay. All style and flips and not really that smooth with it yet or able to tie it back together. And BUSHI is a safe opponent to make a young wrestler look good. He's safe but clearly holds back. The fact that it's just t-shirt BUSHI tells me how interested I'm going to be in the match.

It's just strange how some people get popular. Shire is 37 and has been wrestling for 18 years (he has one AJPW tour. AJPW Anniversary Tour 2008, 17.10.2008-03.11.2008 as Elvis Sharp if any AJPW connoisseurs).
But I only think he really started getting really noticed in 2021 when he wrestled for AAW. Then i 2022 he was brought in for one match at wXw's Wild Card show and they've been booking him more than any promotion since then.
