this one's for you buddybro :)

>Swerve Strickland is a big believer in his AEW colleague Buddy Matthews.

>Since February 2025, Matthews has been out of action due to an ankle injury that did not heal properly and ended up requiring surgery. He is still working through the recovery process, and it’s not known when he’ll be back in the ring. But Strickland told the Battleground Podcast that he’s looking forward to Matthews’ return and would like to have a match against him.

>“Honestly, I’m waiting for probably one of the best talents, like, all around in the business to come back. Hopefully he’s healthy and hopefully he can do even better than what he was giving before — Buddy Matthews, shout out to him,” Strickland responded when asked if there are any first-time opponents he’s eyeing.

>“He’s one of those guys that’s just like a dawg in the ring. I think me and him could do some great work, and I look forward to seeing him back doing his own thing. I think he has a lot to offer in the wrestling world, and I would like to see him back healthy again.”

I just posted this you fraud.

>"Buddy Matthews has ‘a lot to offer’ AEW"
Yeah like the full remainder of his 30s with all the injury time Tony is going to tack on
>>
>>20040765
Buddy was one of the few Gaytch guys who chose to re-sign with AEW instead of going back to WWE when he had the option and that means a lot to Tony, who is very paranoid and insecure about that stuff.
>>
>>20040790
To be fair he had to pay him double to stay
>>
>>20040631
>says Swerve Strickland
no one asked
>>
>>20040914
I did.
>>
>>20040807
Which doesn't always work. Considering ex-AEW people who hadn't even been in WWE before were starting to take (admittedly embarrassing) pay cuts to go to NXT at the time, successfully overpaying a talent to stay is a victory in Tony's mind.

>>20040920
Because those guys want to be stars. Buddy is “kind of” well known and presumably thinks he has a spot in wwe anyways and wants to have a cushy spot losing to Daniel Garcia weekly until he decides to come back(will probably be in rusevs position but he never cried about jobbing). Tell Tony to pay him double, his wife makes millions, boom.

Ryback 2.0
>>
>>20040938
I don’t think he’s that bad.
>>
>>20040631
So many people saying this!!!
>>
>>20040631
Buddy has a great look but he's all flash no psychology. His matches are like someone spamming Kenny Omega moves in a video game.
>>
>>20042343
He’s better than Kenny and that’s a SHOOOOOOT BROTHER
>>
>>20040631
Brody is a huge star now, Tony hiring that Malamar faggot ruined years of both Buddy and his careers. Every single Cody hire fucking sucked.
