I think WWE and AEW would benefit from one night tournaments. Sure, the world famous King of The Ring and whatever copycat thing AEW has are fine, but the Deadly game was awesome and we need more

Also, just an all around awesome entrance setup

yeah 1 night tournaments are sick, gauntlet matches don't really compare imo

I prefer the round robin format (like the G1) over elimination tournaments as a storytelling device because you get to have everyone interact with each other and set up future feuds and shit, but it has to be done right.
The problem with AEW's C2 is that it's AEW, so you only ever get like one actual storyline/angle between 12 different guys. Last year's had two at least (Mox slow face turn and Callis Family infighting) but one of them went nowhere so it doesn't count.

>I watch wrestling for the storylines
go watch Gilmore Girls you faggot

Shoot style died off 20 years ago, unless we start getting guys who are that good in the ring again, I can't be sold on just worked matches. Give me the whole circus brother
>>
>>20147763
Yes? That's how wrestling has always been? No one cared about 'work rate' in the fucking 60s.
>>
One night tournaments suck because all of a sudden a match that would usually be 15-20 minutes is now 5-10, in order to get all the matches in. It's like Survivor Series where wrestlers get pinned after taking a dropkick.
>>
>>20147837
That's an issue of the bracket being too large. You can do plenty of good matches with an 8 man bracket and a 3-4 hour show
>>
>>20147837
Then the tournament should be booked around its limitations. If you know some matches will need to be shorter to fit the time constraints, then you take advantage of it. Like a shocking upset, a crazy 5 minute sprint to wake up the crowd, a squash to get a monster heel over as a threat, etc.
Especially if it happens in an earlier round, then it heats up the longer matches later on the card because the crowd might have just seen the same wrestlers doing some crazy surprise shit that left them wanting more.

>i watch wrestling for the matches

you should watch ufc since you like gay porn

>BYE had two chances in the first round and lost both matches
KWAB what a Jobbing bitch this BYE guy was

Why not. The fed would benefit from a little personality injected into its corpse

If you wanna watch Bi Guys, you've gotta watch AEW.

AAA somehow has an openly gay character, but has significantly less gay face fucking spots than AEW. It's almost as if Tony gets off on it or something.

This was Russo’s only coherent booking in his career that wasn’t just shock value car crash bullshit.
>>
You're right a tournament would be cool, but only if the world title is vacant. I like seeing countouts and draws actually matter
>>
>>20147609
1 night tournaments are great, and what made King of the Ring cool was the endurance factor of the winner having to win 3 matches on the same night, but I can understand that audiences aren't going to be into seeing the same midcarders having multiple matches on a show unless they're really popular rising stars. A one night tournament full of top-tier stars like Wrestlemania 4 or the Survivor Series 98 is always cool, it's weird it never happened more.

A gauntlet match or tag-team turmoil match really needs to be built around a popular babyface being in at the start and trying to go the distance, if you don't have that kind of narrative, or if they go out too soon, it's just a bunch of back-to-back matches with nothing for the audience to get invested in.
