so of all wrestlers active from his rookie year until now and their accomplishments in that time
I think he'd be somewhere near the tail end pretty likely, wouldn't be a stretch.
>>
>>20203860
Gimmick & entertainment value wise? Goldust is easy top 100
Dustin Rhodes? probably top 1000 if generous.
>>
>>20203860
Goldust is a top 10 gimmick. Dustin isn't in my top 500 though. Or maybe he is. I don't know. I don't have the time to come up with a top 500.
>>
>>20203875
Genuinely interested in seeing who's on your 500 all time. When you start really thinking about it you start getting some dreadful works around 150
>>
>>20203875
can you even name 500 decent wrestlers?
I'm completely indifferent to him but he would make my top 200 or 300 just for lack of competition

In terms of how much entertainment wrestlers have actually provided me Goldust is definitely up there. Top 100 for sure, maybe even top 50.
>>
>>20203860
I don't think I could name 500 wrestlers, so by virtue of knowing who Golddust is he would make it.
>>
>>20203860
I'm pretty sure with Goldust and other work he'd be in the 200. Don't actually want to spend time making that list though
>>
>>20203860
Gimmick vs wrestler are two different categories. The gimmick is easily in the top 50.

Goldust was awesome. His Parking Lot Brawl against Roddy Piper at WM 12 was an early catalyst for the "attitude" era.

There are more normies/casual wrestling fans today who know who Goldust is than those who know some of today's top wrestlers
I'd put him somewhere in the top 150

Top 10.
If I had to make a neutral list considering all factors usually used to make list of the top wrestlers?
50-100.

Having Goldust as your favourite isn't even crazy so why would top 10 be?
>>
>>20204349
Nah it definitely sounds a little bit crazy if Goldust is in your top 10, let alone #1
>>
>>20204349
Yes, yes it is bro. If you watched wrestling when Goldie was active there are so many others that should be in your top 20,50,100 before him. Not saying Dustin is some complete shitter back then but holy fuck top 10? Come on now.
This is a time when Jericho, Malenko, Benoit, Disco Inferno, Alex Wright, Rey Mysterio, DDP, Scott Steiner and Rick Steiner, and and and were considered lower midcard guys.
Dustin doesn't rate in those waters.
>>
>>20203860
Goldust? Like Top 200.
Dustin? Not even Top 500.
>>
>>20203915
There's been a hundred+ years of wrestling. I'm sure it's possible.
>>
>>20203860
Somewhere between 50-150
>>
>>20204586
Not them but I think a lot of people don't understand scale and would start getting it quickly if you started naming off wrestlers.
Ok he's top 10? Really? Over Hogan? Over Macho Man? etc.
>>
>>20203860
I'm not going to come up with 500 wrestlers and compare them. He's definitely not in my top 10 or 50. He probably wouldn't be any higher than 250
>>
Somewhere in the mid 400s. There haven’t been that many really good wrestlers but he’s barely in the top 500
>>
I like him well enough. I don't think he places in the top 50 though, there are just too many I'd rate over him in one way or another. Goldie is solid in the ring, he played his gimmick very well and I've had some laughs from him. His promos are fine. He sells fine. He is just all around okay. Somewhere in the mid to bottom 100?
>>
Goldust Gimmick? Top 70. It was super unique. Dustin Rhodes? Top kek.
>>
>>20204631
Black Reign? Top 30 tho.

Why would you even separate the two? Dustin is much Goldust, og American nightmare, Se7en etc as the Rock is Rocky Mavia
>>
I think he would be Top 150 at worst
>memorable gimmick
>royal family of wrestling
>wrestled on TV for 3 decades
>>
Honestly I think he's top 100 all time. If you're able to make goldust get over and become beloved, you are beyond great.
>>
>>20204701
Try 5 decades.

Buddy just admit that larping as a tranny in a wig and a one piece suit in the 90s was the only reason you got any traction.
>>
>>20204658
i agree with this, me and my friends enjoyed heckling goldust and calling him a faggot at WWF shows. that gimmick ruined him forever. he disgraced his father, his family, and himself.
>>
>>20203860
Unironically love this nigga, he's top 50 for me for sure idk where exactly.
Even the Artist Formerly Known as Goldust was fucking KINO
>>
Probably not in the top 500. I don’t think you make it out of the 80s stars and regulars before your top 500 are full. 90s and later guys just can’t hack it.
>>
okay I’m gonna start, you guys can fill in until we get to Dustin

Goldust as a whole easy top 9 wrestler of all time
>>

>that gimmick ruined him forever. he disgraced his father, his family, and himself.
If it wasn't for that gimmick we'd be talking about Dustin Rhodes the same way we talk about Curtis Axel.....which is hardly ever
>>
>>20204586
And the vast majority of people have seen very little of it outside of AE, RA, PG, some WCW, some ECW, and AEW. And that would be one the high end of most modern fans, alot of modern smarks started watching around 2011 or 2012. The 'puro' smarks would probably have an easier time filling up a list as that group is more likely to actually go back and watch matches
>>
>>20204359
>>20204371
That's crazy to write that actually. Dustin was always a great worker, tall, and the Goldust character entertaining whether it was the androgenous character in the 90s or the comedy character in the 2000s.
>>
>>20204727
And has never drew a dime
>>
I don't think I could name 500 pro wrestlers so I'd put him at 200 or so.
>>
>>20206913
But enough about Shawn Michaels
>>
probably around 60-70. really good in early 90s wcw. good in wwe when feuding with jerry lawler, then later teaming with booker t, and good in aew. on the other hand, he has plenty of down periods when he was fat, bloated and full of drugs; he was god awful in tna. feel like he was someone who had all the right tools but just hit that "very good" ceiling and only had fleetings of greatness.
>>
Old fucks among us will remember when DVDVR, in between having the world's creepiest porn forum, embarked on a mission to find 100 Dustin Rhodes matches better than the best Triple H match.

His gimmick alone was influential, and referenced in other media. He's somewhere in the top 100. Not sure if it's the top 50, but in terms of looks, and standing out? Might be in the top 10.
>>
>>20203860
Probably like 92
>>
Dustin overall, pretty middling. Goldust? Definitely one of the most iconic characters WWE ever had alongside the Undertaker (Kurt and Hogan did their stuff in other companies so they're not solely WWE characters).
>>
If you can name 500 wrestlers I need you to question your life.
>>
>>20206452
bullshit, he was already way more over than curtis axel before they turned him into a painted buttfucker
>>
>>20203860
#100
i'm certain can come up with 99 better wrestlers than him but i can also come up with 99 worse than him. he's very even, a solid hand with ups and downs during a long career.
>>
>>20207442
I think this assumes you are giving a list of names, but yeah, if you can recognize 500 of those names you failed as a human
>>
>>20204631
Yeah something like that. Even casuals remember that gimmick even if they don't remember a single Goldust match. That has to count for something I guess.
>>
abu zago clears
>>
>>20203891
I liked it because it was fun to see this faggot get beaten like the "guatemala gay boy" that he was!
>>
Honestly think he's a better worker than Dusty or Cody. It's too bad he was the least successful among them.
>>
>>20203860
I think he did a great job being sandbagged with the worst non-Moppy gimmick in WWE history. Great character work.
Had he not spent his prime serving as a comedy character, I think people would respect him as one of the goats.

Overall though, I think his work is extremely solid and his love for the industry shows in every match he puts on.

I think if I made a real, unironic list he might settle for ~65-80ish.
>>
>>20210777
>Honestly think he's a better worker than Dusty or Cody.
Absolutely, by orders of magnitude.
>>
>>20210777
He just wasn't a smarter worker. Cody couldn't handle being Stardust for two years. Dustin kept the gimmick his whole life, and it kept him a permanent mid-carder.

If I had to think of guys that popped my ass (be it because they were cool at wrestling or because the character was funny) Goldust would be somewhere in the 20-30 range. There are a lot of BETTER wrestlers like Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, El Santo, Riki Choshu, or Jumbo Tsuruta but I'd put Goldust over them because he was a funny fag

And Dustin was a better in-ring performer than all of them except Benoit. The more you think about his work, the more you have to put respect on his name.
