Why am I not supposed to be ashamed of being publicly known as a wrestling fan?
I've been a huge wrestling fan my entire life, I grew up around a family friend who was a wrestler, I've been inside his ring, I've had a handprint on my chest for days, all that mark stuff, but I have always known from the age of 5 that your wrestling fandom is something to be shamefully hidden from others unless they are the immediate family or close people who know you intimately and already know.
It's always been so weird to me to be 'outed' as a wrestling fan. If the subject comes up I immediately get the cringing embarrassment feeling because when the vast majority of people speak about wrestling it's about how dumb and fake and stupid it is, with connotations that the fanbase is made up mostly of "gay retards" as the zoomers or other vulgar types may say.
Personally I find that kind of language distasteful and I'd never say it but hey, you do you.

If you are over the age of 16 and still care what other people think, you are doing it wrong.
