The problem I have is not the commercials themselves, but what the commercials replaced: the video packages. WWE's video packages are always top notch, and since I paid for the ad free tier of Peacock, instead of commercials, I'd see a video package for every match, that kept me super invested in the show and got me excited for each match. It was also great for casual fans who could get a recap of the story before the match.

ESPN doesn't have an ad free tier so you get the commercials, and usually the only match that gets a video package is the main event. I do think it breaks up the flow of the show, and it feels like something is missing without these great videos. I wish ESPN would take this criticism because, while I think some of the criticism WWE gets is not coming from a good faith place, I do think there are too many commercials, and the show suffers for losing the video packages.

When's the last time WWE produced a legitimately good video package?

Wrestlemania 30?

The one from Elimination Chamber last year where they introduce all the competitors and say which of the seven deadly sins they represent was great. I remember the 2024 Summerslam match between Punk and Drew also had a fantastic hype package.
