I haven't regularly watched.pro wrestling in like a decade at this point, but I watched both WWE and NJPW religiously in the late '00s through mid '10s. And it was glaringly obvious that WWE ultimately signed Finn because some retarded WWE producer with enough stroke saw his Wrestle Kingdom 8 entrance because it got big on Twitter and, NJPW and Bullet Club were "hot" according to influential wrestling dorks. And no one with creative say understood what Prince Devitt was in the slightest. The entrance only worked because it was 100% ironic. Finn's character was a half autistic / half retarded himbo athlete who (with the rest of the Bullet Club) spammed references and taunts from turn-of-the-century boom period American wrestling. It was a goofy retard doing an imitation of Undertaker shit,. helped along by NJPW Wrestle Kingdom production that punched way above his weight. "The Demon" was never a character that was meant to be taken seriously. It was a guy who talked about being a "reeeaaaal fookin' shoootah" aping the most cartoony shit from the Monday Night Wars.
