No Mercy 2004 has a notoriously stupid ending
>>
>>20304189
>Undertaker chokeslammed JBL through a broadcast table. The Undertaker carried JBL to the hearse but Heidenreich came out of the hearse and covered his mouth with a soaked rag filled with chloroform. Heidenreich placed The Undertaker into the hearse and drove off. Inside the hearse, The Undertaker jumped out and attacked Heidenreich. JBL executed a Clothesline from Hell and helped Heidenreich place The Undertaker back into the hearse. Backstage, Paul Heyman drove the hearse to the parking lot, where Heidenreich drove a car into it, causing an inexplicable explosion, meaning JBL retained the title.
lmao, wtf
>>
>>20304268
Yeah, it was wacky. 2004 Smackdown was pretty weird.
>>
>Eddie vs Luther Reigns
>Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki as tag champs
>big show got shot with a tranquilizer gun and got his head shaved
>charlie haas & rico tag team
>that main event
Vince lost the plot badly.
>>
Look up Armageddon 2004, it's Vince autism kino.
>>
>>20304519
>charlie haas & rico tag team
They were a fake-ass Booker T & Goldust but I still liked them
>>

2004 WWE is the equivalent of 1999 WCW where there's still some good stuff, but it's just after the boom period and right before it becomes horrible.
>>
2004 SD was based

I think this unedited picture perfectly sums up Smackdown in 2004
>>
>>20304587
I'm sorry, they sold this on PPV? For money?
>>
>>20304519
>Rene Dupree & Kenzo Suzuki as tag champs
They were actually great. The only time that could ever be said about Kenso.
>>
>>20304787
Was 2004 the one where they did the Smackdow in Tokyo and JBL got zonked up on a tranq dart and fought an inflatable dinosaur thinking it was Godzlla?
>>
>>20304787
Jesus, SD was thoroughly fucked after Brock left
>>
>>20304189
That once again proved that the appeal of wrestling wasn't so much what was on the card as much as the atmosphere and the ''feel'' of the show itself. The production, the look, the vignettes, the music, the posters, the pacing, and the overall absurd nature of Vince's vision of wrestling are still the main ingredients that zapped people's subconscious into having a fondness for WWE as entertainment. It had a good baseline, no matter how stupid and downright insulting it might have gotten at times. By the time they started fucking with said baseline by 2007, you could start pinpointing why people started jumping ship from wrestling to everything else that was on TV, UFC included. Compared to now, the wrestling is ''technically better'', the storylines make a little more sense, but it's a completely different feel, hence why everybody talks about it being soulless. We can look back on random Smackdown PPV from 2006 and be like look at how much this sucks, but you'd be doing it with a laugh. Not sure anybody will say the same about anything that's been on WWE TV from 2021 onwards 10 years from now.

>>20304268
For someone they claim is an icon carder was involved in a lot of dimeless tv
>>
>>20306548
That's how became an icon. He was willing to be involved into dumb shit while playing it straight so he was always on screen is one of the reason he became an icon.
>>
>>20304587
What was Vince's obsession with having evil Santas, wrestlers beating up Santas, Santa vs Santa matches etc?
>>
>>20305835
Yea
>>
>>20306598
Vince is a retard with an abnormal brain and he doesn't understand anything about what children like or family enteirtainment beyond visual cliches he saw in a sitcom back in the day. It's why every time he's tried booking wrestling for "families" it's the most retarded shit ever
>>
>>20305821
to think he was supposed to the 4th pillar to Tanahashi, Nakamura and Shibata
>>
>>20304587
>Kurt Angle defeated Santa Claus
kek
>>
the solo-brand PPVs were fucking horrible.
>>
For me it's Undertaker vs. Dudleys main eventing a PPV in a "if Dudleys win Paul Bearer gets drowned in concrete" match.
>>
>>20308164
Then Taker won and drowned him anyway and stayed face while the whole thing was quickly forgotten.
>>
>>20304189
I liked JBL's fuckery finishes. Beating Big Show in the barbedwire cage match because Big Show chokeslammed him through the ring so he touched the floor.

Granted I didn't watch them as they happened and only went through them borrowing a cousin's DVDs so I could only imagine how pissed I'd be watching that bullshit in real time. But hey it made Cena's win all the more important.
>>
>>20304698
2004 RAW was good. Smackdown was only interesting when Cena was on.
>>
>>20308220
One of the most retarded matches in existence.

>unforgiving barbedwire steel cage with absolutely no way out
>except the door lol, you can just walk out of the door
>>
>>20304587
>Dixie Dog Fight
>Kurt Angle defeated Santa Claus by submission Singles match 0:25
Dimes
>>
>>20308235
cage matches were originally meant as "I'm trapping you in this cage and beating the fuck out of you until I'm finished and I will walk away while you won't be able to."

Being forced to climb up the cage makes the babyface look chickenshit.

I miss 04 Smackdown

>Big Show interferes because he’s a Golem for the Authority
>knocks Bryan out
>Brad Maddox calls out crooked ref
>Big Show breaks up pin
>Big Show knocks out ref, and Orton
>show ends with Big Shows music playing as he poses and there’s no official victor declared
This was a PPV
>>
>>20308250
I don't know what century of matches you're talking about but the first ever matches in the WWWF back in the 70s were for Bruno who always won by walking out the door
>>
>>20306424
Anon, stop tip-toeing around what you wanna say. Wrestling is White Trash at the core and switching out butt rock for rap is what has killed it
>>
>>20306424
There wasn't any appeal to this bullshit it was one of the biggest downfalls in TV and live attendance WWE had lmao
>>
>>20308333
The Authority era was one of the worst eras in WWE history because it was Vince and Hunter actively fighting the fans the pop themselves
>>
>>20308345
Yes, thanks for proving my point you fucking retard. You must be brown as shit to not understand that's exactly what I was saying.
