Black John Cena always pops me
>>
>>20359442
The N shirts and armbands were massive draws
>>

Sheffield went on to become Ryback and draw millions.

came here to say this
>>
>>20359442
No draws after 2004. Don't know why and I don't know how, but we all know it's true.
>>
Smarks whining about Cena squashing them was hilarious. No dude, Michael Tarver wasn’t going to be a star.
This was Cena’s spirit squad, and that was the best program for them.
>>
>8 man stable
dimes
>>
>>20359917
i was a mark for justin gabriel and even before the cena squash i knew deep down that dude would never be above the mid card

>>20359442
Woi was always the only one with any potential

The Nexus invasion angle was the hottest thing WWE had going in 2010, and they constantly fumbled it because they wouldn't let them get meaningful wins over Cena or Orton. Sure, not all 8 of them were going to be stars, but you had at least two sure-fire future stars there in Barrett and Ryback and WWE managed to fumble them both, some of the other guys might have managed to get over like Bryan eventually did, if they weren't getting buried by Cena, who did have a weird history of going out of his way to bury undercard and midcard guys who were no threat to him at all, which is harder to understand than the usual politicking of top guys trying to maintain their spot.

Tarver though, that guy seemed like he had something but he hadn't put it all together yet, like maybe they brought him out of developmental years too soon.

>>20359982
Gabriel was a talented worker who could have a good match with just about anyone, and his finisher was used as the finisher for the whole Nexus as a group, which made him look like a big deal, but the guy just couldn't talk, he was DOA as soon as he was out on his own, and ended up being very injury prone too. It didn't help that he was one of the only singings from the indies who didn't bring a fanbase with him because he'd been competing in South Africa and nobody had heard of him.
>>
>guys get buried to the center of the Earth in the most important match of their careers

no shit they never became draws

International Airstrike were dimes

Thanks John

Wade should have beat Blandy for the title.

In retrospect did anyone think anyone else besides Bryan Danielson was getting over in this group? I never did.
>>
>>20364031
Ryback if he changed up his look (which he did)
>>
>>20364031
Barret and Ryback
Tarver as a dark horse pick
Between the other ones I expected Otunga or Gabriel to succeed as a mid/lower carder but Heath somehow got a clue and outlasted them
>>
>>20360430
This was when we were 2 years in to them turning WWE into The John Cena Show.
>>
>>20364031
People were very into Wade

One of them headlined multiple stadium shows tee bee Haitch
>>
>>20359442
I thought Justin Gabriel and Evan Bourne were the future in the summer of 2010. I’m a fucking idiot.
>>
Bad News Barrett was pretty fucking based. Shame they pulled the plug.
>>
>>20364031
I thought Wade had a much higher ceiling than Bryan, who I figured as a mid-card technical gatekeeper type.
>>
>>20362701
>International Airstrike were dimes
I really thought they were going to be, but at least one of them was usually injured. I knew it was over when they turned heel on NXT but it got ignored next time they appeared on a main roster show.

>>20364286
Slater was one of those guys who worked equally well as an annoying heel the audience wanted to see beaten up, and as an underdog babyface, and he was one of those guys whose in-ring skills were more about selling for his opponent than about his own moveset. It's probably no surprise Vince kept around a guy who could make his opponents look good, and that time when he was jobbing to all those returning legends probably helped get him kept around for years.
>>
I bet Cena wouldn't have buried Wade if he had the beard during Nexus
>>
>>20359442
only Wade, Ryback, and black Cena had potential
>>
>>20366061
Commentator wade is dimes tho
>>
>>20359442
Punk was great on I Love New York season 2. He came in third, basically got the wwe job because of it, is a lawyer was married to jennifer hudson for awhile and was drinking from thermals before the Stanley cup craze was a thing.
>>
>>20364019
that first theme song that they butchered 5 or 6 times was dimes
>>
>>20366063
I think the ceiling for Darren Young was always the lower-midcard tag guy he ended up being, but the fact that he was Black Cena really should've earned him at least one serious feud with Cena instead of just getting beaten up by him a lot.

>>20366595
Otunga basically had everything except being good in the ring, he had the look, he could talk, he had the gimmick built on his pre-WWE life, but he was just green as hell, and he was one of those undercard guys Cena had beef with for reasons only he knows.

From his Youtube videos, it sounds like they put him on the main roster well before he was ready just in the hope of getting his wife to appear on something.

Why did he agree to win the tag belts with him then?

Slater was actually entertaining while he was mid-card or lower for life he had his place
>>
>>20367238
>Why did he agree to win the tag belts with him then?
>in a match where Cena did all the work
>and Otunga had to lay down and let the Nexus move the tag titles on to Slater and Gabriel on the next Raw
Otunga said Cena got mad at him backstage for just laying down like that and arguing he'd never ever do something like that, as if it wasn't a scripted show where Otunga was doing what the script said.

The Nexus angle was one of the first times I remember thinking edrones will guzzle straight up slop and tell you it's great. Maybe if Bryan was kept around and Ryback and Tarver didn't get injured they might have gone somewhere, but it was just Wade and a bunch of jobbers. Like I'm supposed to believe the likes of Cena would struggle against a bunch of guys fresh out of wrestling school? Justin Gabriel looked like he came from hairdressing school and Darren Young would be lucky to carry Orlando Jordan's bags. Just a complete gaggle of fucking GEEKS that is one of the worst things WWE has ever done.
>>
Otunga was perfect for a supporting role, guy could have been a manager for for everyone and could spout legit legal knowledge in his promos and be a serious looking threat ringside.
I would have used him as the lawyer for any top heel champ that gets his ass beat along the way.
Hell I would have some how convinced him and Abyss into a match somehow
>>
>>20368455
No draw.
>>
They draw more dimes than today jobbers like Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns or that Green Black guy who beat Lesnar in Wrestlemania
>>
Cena buried like two generations of wrestlers thats why WWE is in a critical situation and without stars because Cena buried all the potential candidates to be future stars
>>
>>20359442
Slater was unironically the biggest draw.
>>
>>20367353
The Slater free agent/Slater and Rhyno angle and tag run is unironically one of the best angles of the last 25 years. It was perfect and WWE somehow didn't fuck it up.
>>
>>20369848
true, people talk about hogan allegedly being a gloryhog but cena was much worse. people still managed to get over and become stars when hogan was on top, whereas cena just buried everyone

It was a better angle than anything going today.
>>
>>20369977
Nexus should have been the start of another Attitude Era with Wade as the face of WWE but Vince was a pussy i dont understand why some people worship Vince his last run as boss in WWE was a cancer like burying the Nexus or the Roman Reigns era
