>Yes, I called it a pay-per-view. I refuse to say PLE.
Why are smarks like this? Why is "PPV" so important to them? WWE's events don't use the pay-per-view model anymore? They're part of streaming subscription services. Calling them pay-per-views is not accurate.
>>
Do you pay to use a streaming service or not?

>Calling them pay-per-views is not accurate.

>>
only fags care about being 100% accurate with meaningless shit
>>
>>20371193
You pay for cable TV. Is every episode of SmackDown a PPV?
>>
>>20371197
But cable operators carrying a PPV are a thing of the past old man, get on with the times it's PLE.
>>
>>20371198
Yes.
>>
I don't use acronyms.
>>
>>20371197
It's not about that, it's about how smarks act superior because they insist on using the older and outdated name for them.
>>
>>20371198
Cable is a subscription service, is every episode of SmackDown a "Premium Live Event"?
>>
>>20371214
No, that's why they created the term premium live event. It specifically describes the major events that are a bigger deal than a weekly episode of the shows.
>>
>>20371205
I want to know if it's going to rain tomorrow. I'll turn on the Weather Channel pay-per-view.
>>
>>20371188
I pronounce them like "Pleh".
>Damn that was one hell of a pleh.
>>
PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV PPV
>>
>>20371198
>>20371219
then why is are NXT PLE's called premium live events if they're on free TV?
>>
>>20371290
because e-drones are fucking stupid
>>
>>20371293
oh yeah that part
>>
>>20371290
>It specifically describes the major events that are a bigger deal than a weekly episode of the shows.
>>
>>20371204
nah. it's just like how when a band came out with a CD everyone always still called it a record. even when no one existed when records were being released. it's like bandaid or whiteout. that's just what ppl call it
>>
>>20371293
WWE makes you angry. We get it. But at least tried to follow along with the posts before you irrationally seethe for no reason.
>>
>>20371297
but you want to take the term Pay Per View literally, why are you making exceptions for Premium Live Event?
I thought you wanted to be accurate.
>>
>>20371209
You have it backwards. SMARKS are the ones who always insist on using the current names. Like calling it WWE even when it's an old clip of WWF

That's fine, but if someone was like "I refuse to call them CDs, they're records!" That would be pretty stupid.
>>
>>20371326
who has said that in regards to PLE/PPV?
>>
>>20371309
A premium live event would be
>major events that are a bigger deal than a weekly episode of the shows.
That describes the NXT shows whether they're on Peacock, YouTube, or CW. The term pay-per-view describes a specific method of watching the show, which WWE hasn't used in a very long time.
>>
>>20371341
that's not what premium means
>>
>>20371340
Many people in this thread and within the IWC.
>>
>>20371188
PLE is a stupid term, thats why its never caught on. it is true that the term "pay-per-view" is outdated but nobody has come up with a replacement term that fans actually like. they should just do like PVE and call it a gigashow or something similar.
>>
>>20371188
They're boomer manchildren refusing to let go of the past.
>>
>>20371188
>Why are smarks like this? Why is "PPV" so important to them?
It's not that we're smarks it's that we're old. And after calling it PPV for decades it's hard to change. I still call it the WWF as well cause that's what I grew up watching.
>>
>>20371341
>pay-per-view describes a specific method of watching the show

The method can be cable, satellite or internet. The difference is you are purchasing to watch individual events.

"Pay-per-view (PPV) is a type of pay television or webcast service that enables a viewer to pay to watch individual events via private telecast."

>which WWE hasn't used in a very long time.

Jim Cornette insisted on still the purchasing the individual PPVs via cable TV up until around 2020, and using the expense as a tax writeoff. It was an option longer than people realize.
>>
>>20371299
The "record" in "vinyl record" is short for recording. There's technically nothing wrong with saying cassette record or compact disc record, and that's part of the reason modern collectors just say "vinyl" to refer to the older format.
>>
>>20371188
premium live event cheapens it, sounds like an off brand version
luckily i don't watch wwe so it doesn't affect me but i can imagine why people don't want to use that dumbass vinceism

I’ve been calling them “PPVs” longer than you have been alive. I’m not gonna suddenly shift because we have netflix and ESPN now

Why would I let WWE define my language choices?
>>
>>20371198
No, because you arent paying for a specific episode of Smackdown. You are paying a basic fee to access the network that Smackdown airs on. Hope this helps.
>>
>>20371812
what's premium about a premium live event that airs on free TV?
>>
>>20371822
Think you responded to the wrong person
>>
I don't let WWE dictate the way I speak, simple as
Do you call wrestlers "superstars"? Did you ask janny to rename this board to "sports entertainment", anon?
>>
>>20371188
I'm just used to calling them ppvs, not everything is a statement.
>>
>>20371188
It’s just 'contrarian theater' at this point, if WWE does it, the smarks reflexively hate it.
>>
>>20371832
>WWF and PPV
>WWE and PLE
>>
>>20371812
That is exactly how the PLEs work on ESPN, and how they worked on Peacock and the WWE Network.
>>
>>20371829
answer me
>>
>>20371840
no, it's been called WWE since 2002
the PLE thing started when? last year? that's 23 years of still being called PPVs
>>
>>20371865
3 years, 23 years, distinction without difference unc

they had no answer for this one

The fact that you're obsessing over something as insignificant as this sort of indicates that you're the smark, friend.

you're fucking dumb

this is a shit thread.
but, it is still better than ANY simp thread.
>>
>>20371188
I think it's fine. Its mostly habit for a lot of people unless they're going out of their way to put down the PLE title. Otherwise I know what they mean so who cares.
>>
>>20371188
The switch to PLEs was solely done to try to market it as something other than 'just combat sports'
