Most of LU's matches had a point and if they didn't, it was because they were a new talent and the point of the match was for you to learn about them. AEW assumes you know everyone coming in already and there is no intent of trying to get you to learn their back story. LU was story/ angle heavy too obviously. Something Tony can't do outside of "we used to be friends" or "im the best wrestler, no i am" or "this show sucks and we are here to change that."
