It actually says a lot of talent were asked to take a 50% pay cut, not that 50% of the talent got a pay cut.

So the average main roster contract is like $350k. So a lot of talent signed a contract where they are now getting 175k a year.

Brutal

Punk was fired "with cause" to avoid paying him severance or any further monies he may have been owned after Sept.1 2023. He lost several millions he was contractually guaranteed as a result. It was the reason for the whole Tony Khan "feared for my life" public statement damage control theey put out. Onw day the truth will come out of how badly they railroaded Punk there because they wanted him gone permanently and didnt want to pay hima dollar extra he couldm have potentially sued for. They did a real good number on him locking his hands legally on the way out the door so he couldn't sue them over it.

Stock buybacks are a symptom of our sick economy based on a central bank. Artificially low interest rates make it cheaper for companies to borrow money than it is to earn money through production. Companies, instead of investing in their own products, will just take out low interest loans to buy back their own shares. This technically increases earnings per share, without actually growing the business or increasing productivity.

In a healthy economy with a truly free market, profits would be reinvested into the business, or paid out to shareholders in the form of dividends, instead of this focus on short term stock price growth and bonuses for the executives.

Companies operating in this way is a symptom of the sick intermingling between government and big business. Ron Paul was right when he prophetically wrote End the Fed.
>>
>>20397590
Tony is a sperg, but he's not retarded. The only thing he offers any prospective employee is money, he's not going to fuck that up. The second he would try fucking someone over with money, he loses any ability to get talent, because WWE barely has a harder schedule anymore , and has the advantage in exposure, merch, and production.

>>
>>20397638
I mean specifically being able to fire him in a manner where he couldn't sue for breach of contract/ monies owed/guaranteed in the original contract. I know 'railroad' has a negative connotation to it but Punk very much deserved to be fucked over in that manner for being such a piece of shit in his final 9 months there. There is a good reason why he skply walked away with his tail tucked between his legs and made no noise publi3xly about it or tried to sue then for lost earnings/future guaranteed earnings etc. His one win was the no non-compete. Had they trued to slap that on him they wouldn't have gotten away with firing him with cause & $0 compensation/severance settlement.
To reiterate, he completely deserved it

Depends on how bad they try to lowball, and what they do with merch. Wrestlers make exponentially more money off merch than UFC guys do, so if they leave that alone guys might be ok paycuts as a trade off for the bigger star power WWE provides, which in turn lets them sell more merch. That's exactly how Vince survived in the late 90s where like 80% of the money guys were making was merch sales since he couldnt compete straight up with Turner's contracts.

>They paid him during that run
UFC fighters pay for their own training camps/fight camps and medical. UFC did not pay Punk monthly for 3 years while he trained at Duke Roufus learning how to punch for real. UFC paid Punk exactly 2 times: Once for UFC 203 and again for the second fight vs the photographer at UFC 218. That's it. There is 0% chance that thise 2 paydays were even close to covering the amount of costs Punk had to pay out of pocket for literal years of training and the many injuries/surgeries he got along the way. That whole UFC run and the Amaan lawsuit drained him of his previous WWE fortune he had built up.

The amount of money UFC paid Punk for his 2 PPV fights (those are the only 2 times he was paid, UFC fighters are not paid a monthly salary or downside guarantee like WWE wrestlers get, you dont seem to understand that) is nowhere close to being able to cover the literal years of training at Roufus sport dojo, one of the most expensive MMA training camps on Earth.
He made a net loss on the UFC run. The Amaan Lawsuit also drained him. His w UFC payoffs were not enough to cover those monumental losses either.
You are extremely stupid
>>
>>20397636
>>20397767
Indeed, this is likely why you're paying $30 a month for ESPN Unlimited, and why there's so many commercials during WrestleMania. Again because of these artificially low interest rates, a company like ESPN is able to take on debt in order to bid for sports broadcasting rights. This artificially drives prices up for these rights, and they pass those costs onto you. They load the shows with commercials to make back the money they spent, even though they know it's costing them goodwill and probably some viewers.

People don't even realize how much harm the Federal Reserve is doing in their daily lives.

A lot of the broadcasters will take on debt in order to bid for these sports rights. If they have access to easy money, it drives up the prices of these sports, which means that you'll have to pay more to cover that cost.

For Wrestlemania Night 2, WWE got like 1.5 million for the first hour of Wrestlemania which featured Brock Lesnar. I think TKO realized at that point that they got sold a lemon.

You think UFC pays fighters salaries to do training camps and covers medical costs. The only money UFC ever pays guys is when they fight. UFC fighters pay for their own training camps, cover their own medical and travel expenses, ams are mever paid back enough to cover those costs. Even Jon Jones and Daniel Comier and Conor McGregor spend more money peparing for fights than they get paid to actually fight. Punk took a HUGE loss on the UFC vanity run. His UFC 203 payoff and the 218 payoff combined do not xover the cost of 3 years of training at Duke Roufus+ all the surgeries he had ib that time+ moving to Milwaukee for that period.
These are all facts and your tears dont mean shit to me. You know nothing about pro MMA or how the payscale works. Stop embarrassing yourself like this

It's hard to comment without knowing who got asked to take cuts. The New Day making what they made was probably more of a courtesy thing since they are older and basically on the downside of their careers. Even if the talent was still there, there's just no universe where they were getting major pushes anytime soon.

UFC can get away with paying less a lot easier than wrestling can. They are the only game in town and there's not much of an indy MMA scene. WWE has AEW to deal with and AEW overpays big time. WWE cannot play games with top guys salaries when they really only have 4 guys who are worth something right now (Cody, Roman, Seth and Punk).

Go look at what that cocksucker Mitt Romney did to Toys R Us and Remington. We had a thread up last week with the SEC filings for Ari and Nick and some of those other cocksucker's compensations. The majority of their compensation is by a combination of bonuses (likely tied to stock price/growth) and stock options. by operating the fed in the most disgusting way possible where they are jacking up ticket and streaming prices, filling everything with ads and cutting the payroll/employee costs for the workers and wrestlers (they cut benefits for the nonwrestler workers last year) they are causing the stock prices to go up and Nick sold off like $2 milly in stock or something last year. Nick and Ari are trying to to the WWE what Romney did to Toys R Us and Remington where they extract every last dime they can with the higher prices and shittier product before letting the debt consume the corpse of the WWE and writing it off as bankrupt.
And gaych is helping them do it

I'm sure the issue is that the top guys like Cawdy, seff, phil, ect don't want a union because they don't want to pay into the union and it could potentially affect their pay. It's weird how in wrestling top guys like hogan have always been anti union, where as in the MLB Harper is one of the highest paid guys and also one of the biggest pro union guys, but maybe he just really fucking hates the owners or some shit for some reason.

WWE right now currently reminds me of how Disney is doing with their parks right now. I'm a big theme park guy so I keep up with how things are going. There is a lot of negativity going on now about Disney's parks from their fans and former fans. The prices have gone up, hotel benefits have been cut back, classic rides are being made worse with new additions or destroyed entirely to make room for worse attractions. I recently took a trip to Disney World myself, and while I had a good time, I couldn't help but think it should be better. The classic rides should still be there, I should've gotten more value for the price I paid. Just this niggling feeling where I could just focus on the fun that I did indeed have. There was always this little bit of a negative feeling in the back of my mind.

Then you have Universal, the AEW of theme parks, where the feeling from park fans is generally really positive. They're cheaper than Disney, a lot of people tend to like their rides more, and they have a more fan friendly reputation these days. Some people are choosing to stop going to Disney and go to Universal instead, but some people never will. Because some people just don't care for Universal. The vibe isn't right for them, maybe they don't care for the IPs, or they just like Disney more. Even if Disney is frustrating them, they still prefer Disney to Universal. But Universal is definitely gaining.

And, the true Disney fans know that the best Disney resort in the world is Tokyo Disney, because it's owned by a different company that just licenses the IPs from Disney. Tokyo Disney is a better product for less money than you get in America, that gives you that ultra high quality Disney flavor you're craving if you're willing to look at another country. That's AAA in this scenario.
