When he turned heelThat was the real problemThe goatee was undeniable, a huge part of himHe should’ve changed his look to just about anything elseSubconsciously it would’ve worked better
>>20422107Turning him heel was never going to work, not instantly like they did anyways. He should’ve turned at 18 instead of 17. They already set up during the build to 17 Austin was getting increasingly desperate and paranoid to get the belt back and keep it after he had missed so much time in 1999, they should’ve just slowly leaned into that instead of doing some gay swerve. He wins at 17 without Vince then gets more and more viscous and heelish, cheating to win etc before sealing it by joining up with Vince. If during that year the fans weren’t buying it you could always pivot but the way they did was retarded.
OP is correct. He also should have dropped the breaking glass theme song. People were conditioned for years to cheer like mad when that glass broke.
I thought being a heel meant doing actual heel things like beating the ever loving shit out of people you can beat up like the hardys and lita and little spike dudley. Beating them up but going too far and enjoying it. Messing those sonsabitches up bad and just generally doing your best to make the audience think the worst. Instead, well.. comedy 'tweener sing-a -long Steve while funny which isnt the point of a top heel ultimately didnt see out the year.

>>20422123>>20422145The fans in 2001 would have cheered harder the more vicious he got.
