It's not so much about Kairi as it is a big portion of the story being thrown out, that shit upsets people. Imagine if Maina 5, Miss Elizabeth just vanished before the match and they never mentioned her or why she's gone. Now those two aren't nearly on the same level, but people were into that angle.
