Why does a wrestling slop channel need 7 fucking editors? Most of their videos are basically power points and podcasts
hampage was too
>>20461297Are you thinking of whatculture?
>>20461337>Why does a wrestling slop channel need 7 fucking editors? Most of their videos are basically power points and podcastsSo they don't have to pay any of them full-time wages, benefit, equity, etc. Keep all of them on contracts or part-time, giving them one video to do a week so they don't get too uppity. One might do translations into other languages or shorts or something but eh
>>20461460Maybe? I always thought they were the same thing. Or at least affiliated.
>>20461486Britslop Yewchoob is basically a hydra. One Britslop wrestling channel dies and two more annoying Bongoloid faggots replace it.
>>20461270>Cultaholic says WWE is dying>Cultaholic diesLOL
(repost from /pw/ archive)So let's see. In the span of about two weeks>Bodyslam which panders to AEW just gutted its staff>Cultaholic which panders to AEW just gutted its staff>ProWrestlingTees who had a merchandising license with AEW just gutted its staff>Jazzwares who had a merchandising license with AEW just gutted its staffEven if you want to claim it's all coincidence or that what was reported about WBD and AEW isn't true, it's funny how you won't see a single dirtsheet name even questioning the timing of this all
>>20462006Why are bongs the most obnoxious smarks on the planet?
>>20462472Mostly the rotten teeth and annoying voices
>>20462471seems like doing business with tony khan is basically a death sentence
>>20461270It’s still on. I’m watching a video they just made today
>>20462472As a bong myself I'm not sure. I think a lot of it is a reaction to wwes jingoism they had going on in the 2000s.
>>20461270Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of these fuckin British wrestling YouTubers.
No seriously, why is every popular wrestling channel ran by a bong? Is it confluence of niche autism?
Edited for WhatCulture in college for a couple of months back in the late 2010's. Business model only works if you have a consistent stream of bullshit>The website pays writers peanuts (with the promise of ad-rev) to shit out whatever list form content, because lists (in the 2010's) used to be easy web traffic>They'd than hire broke cunts like me to edit the video, with the promise of cash-in-hand, no questions asked (it's a gift, don't tell the tax man) if you can get it done in a swift manner. Most of the time the editing itself had rigid rules>Videos had to be at 25FPS, no EasyEase motion allowed in AE or Premier and you gotta source everything.>However they'd typically dump videos onto us nobodies that in-house staff didn't want to touch because of the sourcing issues. For example, "10 WRESTLERS YOU NEVER KNEW WHO WRESTLED ON NXT" and at best, you've got two pictures from a wayback machine from the FCW website to use for them.>The payment itself would vary between £150 to £300. Great for a student who wants to get drunk and fuck the exchange student from Dallas. But than you remember that these cunts are likely earning £1000+ per-video due to the clickbait nature of them in this timeframe. They don't do outsourcing like this anymore ever since Future publishing brought them out. As for my interactions?>Ben was always great to work with, easy to pitch gags to the guy. If you needed VO amended, he'd have it with you in hours. Professional to a tee.>Austin was a passive aggressive spaz if you went over his preferred timing of edits.>Adam P handled the transactions. So he'd try and limit communication unless told too. You had to email him to be paid>Jack was hyper autistic about edits, yet wouldn't take accountability over his own tech fuck ups. His audio was always a mess to clean>Jules was a right cunt to deal with. Beanie isn't to cover his bald head but the sheer ego he had.Ultimately this model has been killed by A.I, Twitter, TikTok and Shorts.
(NWA theme starts playing)
>>20462696Accessibility to the medium is vast:>World of Sport style wrestling is still done in working class beach towns as a mid-day attraction for old grans and kids>Multiple indies that maintain the mat-tech style, which workrate smarks eat up>WWE has even held shows at Butlins, which is basically a NORF FC holiday camp>Progress, Rev:Pro, EVE, RIOT (tho it's mostly Irish) and other indies still pull in big international actsOn a historical level:>Channel 4 had broadcasting rights to heat for a year or so in 2000/2001. They also broadcast some of the PPV's. Amusingly the deal died because the suits at 4 thought it was more akin to World of the Sport than the chair swinging woman beating fun it was at the time>WCW would air on Channel 5, however it was a heavily edited format. They'd take Nitro and Thunder and cut it down to almost exclusively the wrestling. No promos or anything>Sky (Rupert Murdoch cable service) would air WWE on it's Sports platform, but also rebroadcast RAW, Smackdown, ECW and NXT all for free on Sky Entertainment or whatever it's name was at the time during the school periods.>CHALLANGE was a free channel that aired TNA Impact and Xplosion as one mega show since ad-breaks are much shorter in the UK. They'd also air every PPV for free.As of today:>ITV has AEW programming for free on it's side channels>Netflix has every WWE show, atop of it also being on BT/TNT related services
>>20461270This is why YouTube companies are stupid
>>20462696Brian Zane is from OregonAlthough he is also autistic lmao
>>20462472Because they're obnoxious in every other facet of existence so why not wrestling too?
>>20462679It would be different if the UK actually contributed to prowrestling but the only wrestler out of that shithole worth a fuck was British Bulldog

In between this modern era and the PG era, there were a large amount of fans who kept up with the storylines and shows but only by listening to recaps that someone else did that night or the next day.Gradually, that type of fan stopped caring about what even happens and has checked out entirely. This is why people like Cornette are huge now, they shit all over the modern product while talking about the fun times.
>>20465600why does he look so happy about it?
>>20465600Del Rio-esque
>>20462696Wrestling in america was watched by lower class rednecks on free TV because they thought the stories were real.Wrestling in Britain was watched by middle class on a premium cable service as a quirky American thing like The Simpsons.
>>20462696>>20466526America's shit is Britain's gold
>>20466526This is false. Americans knew wrestling was a work even back in the 1970s, and it was common knowledge in the mid 1980s too. John Stossel literally got his ass kicked by David Schultz because he called wrestling fake during a live broadcast back in 1985. And the steroid trials happened in the early '90s and Vince even admitted on the stand that wrestling is a work, and did so in interviews years before the trial in the buildup to the case. The only people that thought pro wrestling was real in the mid to late 1980s were young children. And even many young kids knew it was a work (myself included).
>>20466946American Fans got invested enough to stab and attack wrestlers, even if they didn't think it was all real they got genuinely worked up about heelish activity. British fans in the Big Daddy times were kind of like that but they were also elderly people so weren't much of a threat. By the time American wrestling hit the UK the Daddy generation were literally dead and WWF/WCW was seen as some Harlem Globetrotters gimmicky novelty.
>>20465294>GO AEW, GO BROKEtruer words have never been posted
>>20461270>>20461460I don't know the difference between any of these. There's like 5 more that are all the same in my mind.>>20466514Kek
>>20466974>American Fans got invested enough to stab and attack wrestlers, even if they didn't think it was all real they got genuinely worked up about heelish activity.Yes, because of alcohol and because it was common, especially in the south, to go to wrestling shows specifically to get into fights. This was back in the 80s and I heard it was the same in the 70s too.
