Brock's career has been defined by his remarkably imposing physique and his physical dominance over most of his opponents. It makes more sense utilizing the retirement match of a monster for the purpose of building up another monster. It also helps that Oba is a babyface. The storyline of a Brock versus Gunther retirement match would place both performers in a dynamic that would be difficult to navigate. Gunther is normally the imposing bully in his matches, but he'd most likely have to play the role of wily technician against the Beast, unless he decided to take another approach (and perhaps he would, Gunther knows what he's doing). The real issue would be the lasting image of a slightly smaller guy retiring the combat sports legend to a chokehold and the question of how damaging this would be to Lesnar's reputation. It would've been a bad look and a stain on the legacy of an all-time great. I'm glad they decided to go with what they did.
