Shawn is beloved because he is an undeniable, once in a lifetime talent. The world watched him grow up from his early years straight to the top of the industry. There is a begrudging respect he gets out of even his detractors that he is a very talented and great in ring performer. He had rockstar good looks to boot.Shawn is despised and rightfully so for his influence over the industry, his despicable behaviour towards the company and the profession as a a whole, his derailing and destroying of careers by those who he felt threatened by or simply did for his own amusement, and for getting away with what others would have long been fired for because it is highly alluded to if not a forgone conclusion at this point that he had more than just a professional relationship with the boss. Its not undeserved of course what with him at one point being the smallest world champion they ever had post-Hogan, but Shawn did nothing but toss stones down the mountain he had climbed. His redemption arc and post-injury comeback is no doubt admirable.
