Banished from the capital by your elder half-brothers. There fight over the throne was paused over you gaining recognition by your father. Mother was a maid that father fell in love with. The Emperess did not find out about the pregnancy until you were born. 5 years behind her 2nd born she thought you wouldn't pose much of a threat. You got education from royal tutors but what caught your father's attention was.

>Combat- Top of your class in the royal academy for arms. You won an advanced tournament for your age bracket country level.

>Stewardship- You became student president as a second year. Your thesis on how and why the sewage system in the capital needed updates that the city council has started implementing.

>Mage- You solved famous riddle from Merlin. You can cast all four elements which is rare.

Framed for poisoning a royal official at a party. The trail was farce but with the Empress' backing the punishment was still forced onto you. You and a few guards reach your destination. You can see breath dismounting your horse ice crushed under boots. The journey here was demanding testing your constitution. The town, if one would call it that, of Jern an iron mine on the norther frontier. A large wall of spiked logs a figure appears atop the structure.

"Who goes there!"

Your head guard responds "We accompany your new lord Ramza"

"I welcome my lord" The figure waves his hand and the gate is opened.

You are escorted by the guard to the manor he salutes you and heads back to the gates. Entering the manor, you find two men at a table one looking over paperwork stacked high the other overlooking a map of the territory. They both get up to greet you.

"Are you the new lord?"

"Yes, and you two are?"

The bigger man approaches, and you shake hands. "I'm the head of the guards, Sid"

The other bows. "I'm Alfred, the layer of the estate."

"Glad we have a lord now last one died to a pack of frost wolfs." Says Sid him walking over to a hanger pulling a cape from it. He hands it to you. "It's the lord's cape."

"Introductions out of the way, can we have a meeting." Alfred asks.

You put the cape light but warm.

What in this meeting do you focus on?

I like logistics more.

>Ask if there are immediate threats to safety/life. If not, Ask about Alfrid

I like it when the intelligent guy tries to be a fighter or the fighter tried to be an intelligent guy, so I'll +1 to this

Sitting down at the table your and look to Sid. "Any threats?"

"Hmmmmmm" Sid kicks back in his chair. "We got beasts attacking our supply line. Mostly frost wolves they watch the gate and ambush the caravans down the road during blizzards. The local tribes attacked us a few times until we got the walls up. That was about 5 years ago we still see them from time to time they maybe plotting a something."

You nod letting his words simmer for a bit. Then ask Alfred. "How is the estate."

"In shambles." He says searching the stack of papers and hand you one. "The previous Lord was funneling most of the mine's profits into his family's estate. Most of the lump sum we could have used to build infrastructure was sent there too. Our guards are at least being payed by the Crown from the royal assent for expanding the norther frontier.

You look over the paper he handed you and see an order of rations at an outrageous price with the stamp of the previous Lord. "Is the mine turning a profit?" You ask.

Yes, we run off of prisoner labor, so our only cost is food, and we make money for keeping the prisoners. After the Lord died, we used the money to hire extra guards to protect the caravans about the only thing we could do as Sid has the power to send for more reinforcements from the capital. But with my Lord we have a seal now we can now order more than basic supplies and food. It will be a few months before we have enough coin for a big project.

"We won't have to wait that long." You pull a bag from your person and set it down on the table with a nice cling. Before you were banished your mother gave you her jewelry about of pound of precious gems and crafted gold. Pouring it on the table Sid gives a long whistle.

"Outstanding my Lord" Alfed rubbing his hand together. "We hoped you wouldn't be like the last Lord."

With great excitement your trio begins to plan what to do with little slice of snow.

>You've study that towns become richer by not selling raw resources but by transforming raw goods into refined goods. We need a forge and craftsmen to at least make ingots. It would make transporting better not have to lug the heavy bulk ore down the mountain.

>Hire more guards make the frost wolves attempts at attacking caravans a lot harder and punishing. Make them learn man is not prey anymore.

>Write in

In your personal time what do you do?

>Study the books that you brought about the mountain you've been banished to.

>Martial Practice

"We need more steady income to increase opportunities. If we had an operational forge our profits would increase significantly, we'd need less carts in the caravan. Lowering our surface area we would need to guard." You explain.

"Sounds like a good plan less carts means we can have more men on horses." Says Sid.

"We had a few plans drafted by an engineer, one for our current output and the other accounting for future growth. We are close to the ore output we had 5 years ago so the former still work." Alfred explains as he looks though a cabinet of files and hands you a few semantics.

You look over the papers weighing your options. The large forge would be 3X as efficient as the smaller one. The large costs about half your jewels and the standard would be about 1/3.

>Build the standard forge.

>Build the larger forge.

After the meeting you look to deal with the pile of paperwork that was making you sick at the sight of. Alfred said he they need the Lord's seal for them to be processed. You pull out your stamp. After your banishment you got a new family still royal as you have the blood of the king. With a family name you got to pick your own crest.

>Vulture- Patience, resourcefulness and renewal

>Butterfly- Hope, growth and transformation

>Grasshopper- Leap of faith, luck and audacity

>Write in

Processing the paperwork, you find an offer stuck to another piece of the handwriting is and child level, but it looks like they are trying to sell a service for hunting frost wolves. The names seem to be symbols rather than spelled. They seem to be based in the frontier right at the edge of the where the foothills lead turn into the harsh mountains. The sum for a kill looks a bit high but you never experienced this animal.

>Inquire about this and send a letter.

>Ignore

Powering into the work reading pages some are predatory loans to be thrown out others being decrees needing to be stamped for acknowledgment. You find a few better deal for town supplies a better hay deal for your horses and weed out the nepotistic trade agreements the old Lord made. He was a baron it seems, and his father was a count that most of the deals were in or near his territory. You may be able to sue but the royal court is in the capital where you are banished. By the end of the week, you have all the backlog completed.

>Build the larger forge.
Build it and they will come, no? This is our lot now and we might as well invest in it.
>Vulture- Patience, resourcefulness and renewal
A bit morbid an animal but the meaning suits what we seem to be going for.
>Inquire about this and send a letter.
Might as well see what the frontier tribes are up to (at least if I'm right about that being the source). If this is a genuine offer in good faith then we can build relations with them, if this is part of a plot...

I mean if we are paying for the pelts, that's a luxury item
