Welcome back.

Rules are simple: Votes are tallied every hour, with whatever course of action being the most popular being the course of action taken. Write ins are encouraged and non-mutually exclusive votes will be combined if possible.

When a roll is called for, roll however many D100 are specified. 5- is a 'crit fail' and generally means something bad is about to happen. 95+ is a 'crit success' and generally means something good just happened. a 'crit success' trumps a crit fail. User input on both will be taken into consideration.

Once per thread, if three or more people invoke it, a single roll may be re-rolled.

For a short summary for the new and to recap:

You are Alex. A newly minted trainer and camping enthusiast just starting out on your journey at the age of seventeen after your father lost his job in order to help pay the bills. On the road, you met Fie, the Fire Gym Leader, Gareth a novice Aura Guardian on pilgrimage and Holly, a runaway heiress using a pseudonym. You've also made enemies of Team Green a group of violent, radical activists looking to abolish pokemon training.

For the time being, Fie returned to her gym for the time being.

Last thread, you beat Daniel, the Greenshoot Gym Leader, evolved Coolie into a Hydrapple, trained a whole lot, prepared to head out in the morning, had some friendly battles with Sarah and Tom which you lost and groomed your team...

"Nah." You shake your head, then clap your hands. "Let's just give our guys some TLC."

Sarah brightens and to your satisfaction, Tom nods, rather than raising a fuss.

It seems like now he’s got Sobble, he’s actually beginning to understand the importance of taking proper care of pokemon, where before, he was more likely to just want to play.

You break out your grooming kit and get to work. Sarah and Tom already know the basics of grooming.

Helping your mum and dad with their pokemon means you all at least know what you’re doing and with plenty of time on your hands, nothing else you really need to do right now and some pointers you’ve picked up from Holly, you quickly get into a rhythm cleaning everyone up, whether that involves brushing, polishing or preening, to the great delight of all your pokemon.

Part of you wishes you could give Kay O-o this treatment right now, but he’s still going to be out for a day or two, by your mother’s reckoning.

You make a note to yourself to treat him when he’s better. He damn well deserves a reward for what he did in keeping Latias, Sarah and Tom out of harm’s way and fighting off a Tyranitar with more experience than him the way he did.

Quicker than you’d have credited, you find that you’ve finished grooming everyone, Euphrates stretching languidly as she walks off after you finish lightly oiling her hide, before Sage approaches again, paws clasped hopefully as she stands in front of you.

It’s easy to see why she wants the extra attention though: she’s developed a thick ‘cloak’ of red fur, what the pokedex refers to as ‘felting fur’, meant for creating the distinctive ‘robe’ that Delphox are known for and her present batch is coming away in clumps.

You pat the ground next to you and once Sage has sat down, you start brushing out her coat.

She really needed it, with all the fur that comes away even on this first brush stroke.

The fur's not matted, but it's thick and loose, coming out in long, thick strands - perfect for felting, hence the name - and you can only imagine how itchy Sage has been getting while this fur grows.

In short order, Syurm's bustled over and gathered up what you've brushed out of Sage's overcoat, before waiting attentively for you to brush out the last of her loose coat, whereupon Sage turns around and hugs you briefly, before walking off with a spring in her step as Syurm gathers up this second batch of fur and bustles off to add the fur to the other pile, which she's diligently arranged and appears to be fashioning into cloth, presumably so she can sow a robe for Sage when she evolves.

It's not long before the others return and you head in to help Sarah and Tom with their homework before dinner - a simple, but hearty stew which is just the sort of food for cold, rainy weather like this.

You wake up early the next morning and see Holly and Martha stirring as your alarm goes off. Predictably, Gareth is still asleep.

Martha remedies this by kicking Gareth - gently - until he finally wakes up.

You dress quickly and pack your bags, before heading back to the house to have a quick breakfast with Jackie before you head outside.

Rascal (Braviary)
Fluffy (Eevee) (Everstone)
Coolie (Applin)
Nika (Riolu)
Piker (Feebas)

Companion slot: Latias

In that case I'll change my vote to switch Piker to Euphrates, Ayumi to Volta, and Coolie to Sage.
Sage probably needs the grooming care, Volta cause I feel like we haven't had her in a while, and Euphrates because I wanna get a Swampert.

"Any last things you want to do before we go?" Jacky asks.

"Yeah, just one." You confirm. "Going to switch up my team." You reply.

Jacky nods, before you head back out to the shed and trade out Piker, Ayumi and Coolie for Euphrates, Volta and Sage.

If things were less hectic, you'd have liked to keep your team as it was and focus on raising your less experienced pokemon more, but considering you're going to be chasing Team Green out of Redmont, you decide to go with some more experienced pokemon, since Team Green like to use numbers and their pokemon on South Crescent Island were quite powerful.

"Sorry guys." You say to the three staying back regretfully. "You'll get to come with me soon, I promise." You add, before you head out to where the others are saddling up their own pokemon.

You release Rascal and get him saddled up and don your helmet and goggles, stow your bags and mount up, before following Jacky aloft along with the others, Jacky taking the lead on her Staraptor, before the wind picks up behind you.

You just barely hear Jacky order Staraptor to use Tailwind beforehand, before you're away, heading northward in the chill morning air on a beautiful, sunny winter morning.

Successes to completion: 0 of 3

You've been flying for maybe an hour when you begin running into a cross-wind and see off to the east a thunderhead forming.

It doesn't take a psychic to figure out what's going on and you head downward, following Jacky's lead as she angles down towards Route 2 and to your private joy, you see she's angling for your old campsite.

When you land and head inside, you find it more or less how you left it, the fire pit burned out, but there's a pile of wood put up against one of the sides and you see some carelessly discarded wrappers off to the other side of the shelter.

Clearly, Syurm's handiwork is seeing some use by other trainers and generally, they're taking care of it.

"That Leavanny of yours did some real good work." Martha admits.

"She was a Sewaddle when she did this." You reply, before Jacky swears.

You turn to see her looking at her phone.

"This isn't a natural storm." She said tiredly. "It's a Thundurus."

You don't know too much about this pokemon, besides it having a reputation for making a nuisance of itself by summoning up actual thunderstorms wherever it goes, but you have Martha and Jacky here and your team aren't exactly slouches either, not to mention Gareth and Holly being competent in their own right in your estimation.

"Right then." You say as you stretch and limber up, before releasing Latias. "Let's get this sorted."

"What?" Martha says, taken aback, having just put her bags down.

"There's five of us, one of it and we're in a hurry." You say, simply. "We don't really have time to be waiting around while this pokemon screws around and there's no telling how long it's going to keep this storm going, is there?" You ask Jacky.

"There's not." She concedes. "But... Alex, Thundurus isn't a pokemon we should take lightly." She warns. "It's powerful. Summoning up localised storms isn't something just any pokemon can do.

"Fie would call this crazy." Martha says seriously. "Hell, I think it's crazy. Even if the others were here, we'd just wait this out than try taking Thundurus on directly. Do you even have a plan?" She asks.

"I figure we ambush it and go from there." You reply. "We're not necessarily looking to capture it, we just need it to go away." You add reasonably.

"Ugh." Martha pinches the bridge of her nose and Jacky sighs.

"That doesn't sound too bad..." Holly offers.

"He is right that any delay in getting to Redmont if Team Green is trying to get into the depths of the mine could be a disaster." Gareth admits, then sighs. "This is risky, but the potential risk in delaying could be disastrous."

"You really do have guts." Jacky admits with a wry smile. "And no sense of danger." She adds. "Let's go and don't say I didn't warn you." She adds.

"Okay, Latias. I want you to lead us to the strongest pokemon you can sense flying around out there." You say.

Latias gives you a doubtful look, but nods as you head out through the awning into the long grass.

It provides good cover and you stay low as you creep along, ignoring the thunder as Latias turns invisible and nudges you forward mentally.

You're creeping along deeper into the grassland for about five minutes before ahead of you, you see an area of grass that's been flattened and flitting around the edge is a blue and purple pokemon, its lower body seemingly missing in a wisp of cloud.

It's riding the wind through the trees and grass, seemingly enjoying the chaotic environment its created amongst the scrub.

And it's frightened all the pokemon in the area into shelter with its antics.

You can see an Arcanine sheltering its pups with its body under one large grevillea and a Rufflet sheltering in the hollow of a ghost gum.

This is rather sobering when you consider how your Rufflet was, but it just makes you more determined to see Thundurus gone.

If it's going to be a bully, it can go be a bully somewhere else where there're more pokemon that can stand up to it.

Fortunately, it's got its back to you right now and doesn't seem to have the slightest inkling you're here.

You look to the others and signal them as best you can to spread out as you creep forward and they all break off, Martha and Jacky going furthest afield, while Holly and Gareth break off from you as you creep closer, picking their own poke balls until you stop.

There's a beat, before Martha and Jacky rise and release Dragonair and a Krookodile respectively.

Then, your nerves get the better of you and you throw the poke ball you've been clutching as Holly sends in Checkers and Gareth releases Mien, resulting in Thundurus disappearing inside for a beat, then the ball explodes and it's facing you, specifically, as it cloaks itself in a Protect barrier and intercepting the attacks of your companions' pokemon.

Shit. And what's worse is, this Protect barrier seems to be lingering, as the attacks thrown against it peter out, but the barrier doesn't.

"Volta, Go! Fire Fang!" You order.

She appears in a flash and bounds at Thundurus as a bolt of lightning flashes down and slams down ahead of her, a wave of energy arcing out from the point of impact, rolling over Volta, before it washes back over Mien, Checkers, Dragonair and Krookodile, leaving the former three paralysed.

Then, Volta has dashed in, leapt up and bitten down hard on Thundurus's arm, shattering its lingering Protect barrier like cheap glass, leaving it burned and open to follow-up attacks by the others.

Unfortunately, Martha and Gareth let the opportunity pass by, ordering Dragon Dance and Sword's Dance respectively, which while still the right play usually, means that they can't capitalise on the opportunity that Volta just opened up.

Jacky and Holly meanwhile, waited a moment to see what Volta's attack would do to this extended Protect and seeing that she tore right through it, they're quick to capitalise, Jacky ordering Krookodile to use Smack Down, which deals another heavy blow to the Bolt Strike pokemon and sends it crashing to the ground in time for Checkers to follow it up with a Psybeam, which sends it skidding back across the ground to fetch up in a sprawl in a callistemon bush.

Despite all the trouble Thundurus has caused, you have to wince.

Negotiating bottlebrush sucks at the best of times, thanks to how sharp and prickly their leaves are, but falling into one is a distinctly uncomfortable experience. Even being able to fly, you're pretty sure Thundurus is going to be stuck for a bit.

Ominously, while its aura had dropped to bruised orange, it's already returning back to the green of health.

You definitely hurt it and it doesn't seem to be using a move or pulling an item trick like Darren's Aron did, which means this thing has some serious stamina.

This is too good an opportunity to pass up - Thundurus is stuck and is having trouble getting free of the bottlebrush and it's taken a pounding. Even if it's rapidly recovering from it, there's an opportunity here.

You throw another poke ball at the thrashing legendary. Hopefully, this time it's in rough enough shape you can capture it.

To your annoyance however, as the ball gets close, Thundurus bats it away into the scrub in its thrashing without it activating, which you suppose is a mixed blessing as it can't see anyone right now-

BOOOOM!

You're momentarily blinded as a lightning bolt strikes off to your right, where Jacky and Gareth went and are left deafened by the strike - probably a Thunder, if you were to guess.

You look over in alarm, but they're both still standing, looking dazzled and dazed, but not like they just got struck by lightning. There is a small circle of scorched grass around Krookodile, though.

It seems like Thundurus blindly used Thunder and hoped for the best and by some miracle, hit the one pokemon out at present that is Ground type.

In response, Thundurus is hit with what you identify as a Dragon Pulse and a Psybeam from Dragonair and Checkers respectively, before Mien darts in and lands a Power-Up Punch before Krookodile hits Thundurus with a move you don't recognise - it looks like a torrent of fine, shimmering sand which does a number on Thundurus as it tears itself free of the now withered and broken bottlebrush.

It looks around at all of you as it trembles as its strength is sapped from its burn, which looks to have been exaserbated by whatever Krookodile did, slowing its evident recovery.

Abruptly, you realise the burn that Volta left it with must already have been stymieing whatever 'second wind' it was getting before, leaving it looking decidedly bruised now, but it doesn't seem inclined to flee, either.

In fact, it seems like the storm is getting worse...
