Did I fall asleep?

She opens her eyes and turns her head.

Is this a themed room?

Her eyes go wide.

Did someone at the con give me a date-rape drug and bring me to a room for weird role-playing? Oh, God, I hope it didn't happen when I was asleep!

She lurches off the mattress, almost hitting her head, and looks around the small mostly-white room. Suddenly she stops and stares at a small table. Lying on top of a metal tablet is a flashlight-sized object that she immediately recognizes. She grabs it with both hands, then turns it over a few times and fumbles for the best way to hold it.

(It's a lightsaber.)

"It's so realistic!"

(The scene changes to an image of Mark Hamill holding a lightsaber, a determined expression on his face.)

The lightsaber is the iconic weapon of the Jedi, a noble order of warrior-monks in the Star Wars setting who use an invisible power called the Force to perform seemingly magical feats. A lightsaber is essentially a laser sword that can cut through almost anything. This lightsaber hilt looks like a high-quality replica movie prop. It's definitely not made of plastic.

The familiar buzzing sound of a lightsaber activating is heard.

This effect is amazing! It even sounds like the noise is coming from the blade!

A knock on the door surprises her. There's another loud buzzing and suddenly there's an explosion of sparks and the table is sliced in half. The metal tablet tumbles to the floor and she almost drops the lightsaber before she finally manages to turn it off.

"THIS IS A REAL LIGHTSABER!"

She looks at the door and says "Be right there!" but then she looks back at the lightsaber hilt in her hands. "This is a real lightsaber?"

Her hands are shaking and she squats down on the ground and carefully sets it on the floor as far away from her as she can reach.

The knocking on the door is louder and whoever's on the other side is making muffled concerned noises. There's no handle or anywhere to grab so she starts to poke at the blinking panel next to the doorframe. Suddenly the door slides open and she gasps in surprise and stands up straight.

"Princess, are you alright?"

She sticks her head past the man and looks up and down the corridor. "Guh?"

(She was expecting a convention center lobby.)

The man looks at her and clears his throat. When she looks down she sees her hand on the man's shoulder and stares at it for a moment, then she yelps and jumps back and the man takes a quick step back into the hallway and salutes. "I just stopped by your cabin to report on our progress."

Did he just call me "princess?"

Now that she's looking at the man, there's a hologram in front of his chest. The words are out before she realizes she's speaking. "Toban Tol?"

"Oh!" The man's face lights up. "You remembered my name!"

Can he not see that nametag?

The man is nodding sagely. "They say the Jedi can know everything about someone just by looking at him!"

He really can't see it! Is this one of those situations where an ordinary girl wakes up in another world as a beautiful princess with an overpowered cheat ability?!

Toban's starting to look worried again. "Princess?"

There's only one way to find out! Yes! I'm going to do it!

"Um, where are we?"

Toban straightens up. "We're about to exit hyperspace. We should be landing on Amantes within the hour."

There's something in the upper range of her vision that moves into view as she notices it.

Stalwart Loreek? That must be the name of this spaceship! So that shows the name of my current location? Another useful cheat ability, as expected of my first isekai experience!

"If there's anything else I can..." Toban sees something and stops and she follows his gaze downward and behind her to the still-smoking chunk of tabletop lying on the floor.

I should say something responsible!

"Lightsaber practice!" She's giving him her best smile and standing with her arm out of view behind the doorframe.

(She's trying to find the button that closes the door.)

"Let me know when we're about to land!" Toban is about to say something but then the door slides closed in front of him. As soon as she's alone she collapses on the floor but then she looks at the lightsaber lying on the floor next to her and she leaps backward to the far wall.

She sniffs and her nose wrinkles at the fumes from the charred metal and plastic. When she puts her hand against the floor there's a faint constant rumbling.

This isn't a dream! I'm really on a spaceship! A real spaceship! The last thing I can remember was being at the Star Wars fan convention, but then...

She looks at the door and then looks at the smoldering section of table and the lightsaber.

...I woke up as a Jedi princess?

That guy, Toban, he was definitely calling me a Jedi! And the lightsaber, the spaceship... There's no doubt about it. I really did get isekai'd into the Star Wars setting! And that means there's one thing I need to do right away!

She nods and gives herself a short fist-pump.

Yes!

(This is the most determined she's ever looked.)

I need to figure out which canon I'm in!

(The scene changes to an image from the original Star Wars movie, then the Star Wars Holiday Special, joined by the cover of a Marvel Star Wars comic book, then next to it cover of the novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye, images from the Ewoks cartoon and made-for-television Ewoks movies, the West End Games and Wizards of the Coast role-playing books, the Kevin J. Anderson collections, and finally joined by an image from the movie The Force Awakens.)

After the original Star Wars movie debuted in 1977, a flood of official supplementary material was created without the direct oversight of George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, and contradictory information soon began to appear. This led to everything licensed by his company Lucasfilm to be categorized into various levels of canon. The movies themselves were assigned the highest level, and other products such as comic books and role-playing games were assigned correspondingly lower levels in order of their perceived importance. However, in 2012, the Disney corporation purchased Lucasfilm, and reassigned all the preexisting canons to the "Legends" status separate from Disney's new movies and associated products.

She looks at the door and then closes her eyes and puts her fingertips on her temples, deep in concentration.

Toban said we were headed for the planet Amantes. Where have I heard that name before?

Suddenly her eyes spring open.

Wait a second! If this is an isekai situation, that means I must have a status window that shows my class and level and all my attributes! Maybe that will give me a clue!

(Nothing happened.)

She leaps to her feet and takes a deep breath and then shouts as loud as she can. "I demand what's owed to me as the protagonist!"

(The status window just appeared.)

"I knew it!" She jabs an accusatory finger at the glowing area in front of her and looks over the text.

Cady Omega? That name sounds really familiar. Three different Force powers to start with? And...

(She's looking at the bottom of the status window.)

Is that seriously the only skill I get?!

When Cady looks at the piece of table on the floor she notices the datapad and then she carefully walks in a circle around the lightsaber hilt and picks up the dark gray slate.

A datapad is essentially a computer tablet, only more durable. It's typically used in Star Wars media when characters need to read information.

(The words are written in Aurebesh.)

"I can't read this!"
>>
File: hotel room.jpg (219 KB, 1536x768)
219 KB
219 KB JPG
(The scene changes to the Aurabesh characters arranged in a grid, superimposed over an image of an X-Wing cockpit.)

This is Aurebesh, an alphabet created for the Star Wars setting and often seen in the movies when the actors look at computer displays.

(The Aurebesh characters changed into a familiar language.)

Oh? I can read this! Another convenient isekai protagonist cheat ability! 'Princess Omega would make a competent addition to any organization...' Wait, is this a letter of recommendation? They're completely phoning it in! These are the kind of back-handed compliments you give someone when you're trying to get rid of them!

The text flashes one screen at a time as she holds it closer and closer to her nose.

I've been admitted to a Jedi academy on planet Amantes. Oh, I'm going to a Jedi academy?

Cady lowers the datapad and looks around the room.

(Her eyes just got wider.)

"Love and Lightsabers!"

(The scene changes to a small hotel room, recognizable by its mundane fixtures and the honking of automobiles in the distance.)

How could I forget about that?

(The scene changes to a title screen with the 'New Game' and 'Resume Game' options.)

Love and Lightsabers, known to the fanbase as "L+L", is a Star Wars-themed otome game, where the player takes on the role of a beautiful Jedi princess and interacts with other Force users. The game officially launches next week, but advance copies were being sold at the con. Even though I had to stand in line the entire first day to get a copy, I started playing it as soon as I got back to my hotel room!

(She didn't want to open it because she only bought one copy.)

L+L is set during the High Republic, a vaguely-defined period of time prior to the Clone Wars era of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. The High Republic era was created for two reasons: to re-canonize certain parts of Lucasfilm's Old Republic setting, and to avoid canon conflicts with the eras depicted in the theatrical films. But that means I know about things like the forest moon of Endor from Return of the Jedi, even though its existence isn't widely known at this time! Another overpowered cheat ability!

Cady is grinning.

L+L takes place at a Jedi academy on a remote planet. Like most otome games, the player can meet and socialize with several other characters, and has a variety of endings depending on how you interact with the non-player characters. L+L is notorious for having a lot of death flags, and it's almost impossible to clear the game without anyone being killed. Even the player character, Princess Cady Omega, can easily die in a variety of horrible ways, making it one of the most difficult otome games ever!

(It looks like she's still grinning but now she's gritting her teeth.)

If I'm on a spaceship going to Amantes, that means the events of the game haven't happened yet. Cady is going to the Jedi academy to learn how to use her Force abilities. Usually, a novice Force-user would be called a "padawan," and would be the follower of an more powerful member of the Jedi Order called a "Jedi Master." According to this datapad, Cady's parents were the rulers of Sigis but they both died when she was an infant. The planet's government wanted Cady to remain on her homeworld instead of being taken in by the Jedi Order, so they hired a series of supposedly Force-sensitive tutors, but some of them were frauds and none of them were much help. That explains why I don't have a Jedi Master of my own. Wow, this is a lot of lore that wasn't in the game intro. I suppose you would learn most of this over the course of the story during gameplay. I should make a point of reading all this in case I meet someone who knows Cady. It would look suspicious if I don't know this character's history well enough. I wonder if anyone else aboard this spaceship is attending the Jedi acada-

She hears a muffled explosion and the floor and wall shudder, and then a second explosion shakes the room enough to knock her against the wall. The datapad goes sailing and the lightsaber rolls across the floor away from her and bounces under a chair. She squats down to retrieve it and falls over when the floor shakes again and as she's feeling around for the lightsaber someone starts knocking on her cabin door. She finally feels the lightsaber hilt and stands up to attach it to her belt.

(She can't figure out how to attach it to her belt.)

She pokes at the blinking panel of lights with the lightsaber hilt held in her other hand. "Yes?"

The cabin door slides open and Toban grabs the doorframe when the ship shudders. "Princess! We're being boarded by pirates!" Behind him, the other passengers are screaming and frantically shoving their way down the hall.

That's definitely a death flag! I should stay as far away as possible and let Toban two deal with the pirates. Or does that mean the pirates will kill him and then kill everyone else? Am I supposed to stop them myself? That's the choice the player would be expected to make, right?

"Princess?"

Wait a second, I can just run away, can't I?

Cady looks at Tobin confidently. "Let's get to the escape pods!"

"The pirates will scoop us up before planetary security can get here." Toban glances down at the lightsaber hilt in Cady's hand. "If only we could hold them off for a few more minutes..."

Aaaah! He's still looking at me! Okay, this is it! Yes! Time to be a real Jedi!

Cady looks down and Toban takes a step back away from the doorway and then she steps out into the hall next to him, still looking downward. "I'll hold them back."

(She's still looking downward.)

Aaaah! Why did I volunteer?

Cady swallows and grips the lightsaber hilt tightly. "Protect the other passengers."

Toban isn't convinced. "You can't take them all on by yourself!"

Now's the perfect time to say something deep and profound!

"I'm not alone." Cady activates her lightsaber. The pink glowing blade lights up in front of her face and she finally looks up. "The Force is with me."

Nailed it! This guy is probably...

(Toban seems less convinced than before.)

Cady looks back down the hallway. "Get going!" She shifts her position to a fighting pose.

(It sort of looks like she's trying to hit a baseball.)

"Alright, good luck!" Toban is already running the other direction.

As soon as he's gone, Cady's expression shifts to panic. "This is stupid, I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know how to fight with a lightsaber! I've never even held a sword before!" She takes a step forward. "This is stupid, this is stupid!" She takes another step forward and realizes she has her eyes closed and a terrified grimace. She opens her eyes and looks behind her at the empty hallway and then takes another step forward.

An astromech droid whirs around the corner, making her shriek and leap on one leg. The droid honks and beeps at her and spins its dome head around as "RT-33 (Droid) FP: 0" glides past.

She steps around the corner and immediately recognizes the blast door. There's a loud bang on the other side and she makes a short squeak. "I wish I didn't have to do this by myself!"

"Want some help?"

This time Cady makes a full scream and whips her lightsaber around behind her like a baseball bat and hits a blue lightsaber before she realizes what she's doing.

The young man on the other side of their sparking lightsabers grins and takes a step backward. "You must be the princess. I'm Jax."

"Sorry! Sorry, sorry, sorry!" Cady fumbles to turn off the lightsaber. The blade waves around wildly when suddenly a large hand is on top of hers and another large hand cups her palms. The glowing pink blade disappears.

Aaaah! Jax Ronan is one of the capture targets in L+L! Tall and handsome, with a red design theme and blue lightsaber, he's totally the "warrior" character! And he has 40 Force Points?! Is that amazing or am I just terrible?

She looks up at Jax's face but he's just looking intently at her lightsaber. "This is an uncommon design."

This is the closest I've ever been to a guy before but right now he's giving off a completely innocent and helpful vibe!

(She's still staring at Jax.)

Golden retriever energy!

Jax looks up and the eye contact makes Cady gasp, but then he lets go of her hands and looks toward the blast doors. "We should compare designs after this."

Aaaah! What is this awkward silence? I need to say something!

"You can watch my lightsaber while we fight!"

That's totally something a hero character would say!

Cady re-ignites her lightsaber and the pink glowing blade springs up in front of her face as she holds it horizontally, poised to strike toward the blast doors as she grits her teeth.

(She's mostly nervous because it's so close to her face.)

She can't help glancing at Jax to see if he's appreciating her battle pose but when she does his expression changes and he shouts "Look out!"

A panel next to the doorframe explodes and Cady squeaks in surprise as the blast doors bang open and smoke roils into the room, obscuring everything, and then a hail of glowing streaks fly out of the smoke in all directions. Jax's lightsaber blade twirls back and forth in a fan-shaped blur, knocking the blaster bolts away. One flies past Cady close enough to heat the skin on her shoulder.

Aaaah! They're really shooting at us with blasters!

(The scene changes to an image of Harrison Ford crouched behind a corner as he aims a modified vintage pistol at an unseen enemy.)

A blaster is a type of firearm that shoots superheated clouds of gas called "bolts" with enough force to destroy metal. Jedi are supposed to be able to use their lightsabers to deflect blaster bolts, but... aaah! Now isn't the time for this!

Cady opens her eyes and Jax glances through the encroaching smoke and gives a silent nod as he raises his own lightsaber.

(She's too nervous to speak anyway.)

The second round of blaster fire cuts holes in the smoke and then three familiar shapes appear bobbing up and down in front of the haze.

Are those nametags?

"Over there!" Cady shouts at Jax before she realizes what she's doing and the smoke lights up with glowing points all aiming toward the sound of her voice.

Panic makes her fling her lightsaber around and terror keeps her hands tightly gripped around the hilt. Every time she peeks open one eye, the sparks and flashes along her lightsaber blade make her squeeze her eyes closed again. She swings the blade back and forth wildly, too terrified to do anything else.

This is definitely a death flag!

"Princess!"

She can hear Jax shouting but her life depends on swinging her lightsaber as much as she can. Suddenly a gust of air knocks against her side and she swings her lightsaber around trying to steady herself.

"Princess!"

This time she opens her eyes and the lack of blaster explosions in front of her face jolts her into halting mid-swing. The smoke is pushed up to the far corners of the room. The owners of the nametags materialize in front of them in the center. At their feet are clumps of black smoking metal.

No way, are those their blasters? That's impossible!

There's a metallic click and then the tall gray bipedal droid's monotone voice declares "Life signs detected, Captain. Two organics."

"I can see that for myself, Enkay!" The human huddled in the middle raises his hands and pushes back further as the tip of Cady's humming lightsaber blade almost slices his chest.

"I thought you said there would only be one kid with a lightsaber!"

That's a Devaronian! My first meeting with an alien species! One of the most well-known aspects of the Star Wars setting is its wide variety of aliens! He looks a little too young to be a pirate! I don't know if he should really be calling me a kid! Is he even older than Cady?

"Princess?" She realizes Jax is talking to her and she looks up, as the three pirates take another step back away from her pink lightsaber blade. "It seems like we won." When Jax raises his own lightsaber's blue blade toward the three disarmed pirates, they cluster tighter against one another. "Now, the question is, who did we beat?"

"I'll never talk!" The human man's eyes dart toward the droid. "Don't tell them anything, Enkay. Not even your model name."

Cady waves her lightsaber blade toward him. "That's Mako Rake. And that's a Devaronian named Beldar Fazz. The droid is Five-El-En-Kay."

The droid makes a click. "I was loyal to the end, Captain."

The Devaronian's eyes widen when he hears his name. "They're not really Jedi, are they?"

"Mako?" Jax tilts his head at Cady and looks back across his lightsaber's blade at their captives. "Are you sure?"

He's never going to believe any of this isekai stuff!

"Um..." Cady glances down at the pirates' nametags. "That's what the Force is telling me?"

Jax gives a satisfied nod. "I knew you were strong in the Force!"

The adrenaline rushing through her veins has run its course. Her lightsaber blade dips toward the floor and she takes a step backward to steady herself.

I almost died! And I used up almost all of my Force points! Will I still be able to see my status window if I run out of Force points?

"Princess?" Jax is looking at her when she lifts her head. "Are you alright?"

(She just noticed Jax's nametag.)

How does he still have so many Force points?!

She flinches as the door slides open behind them. Toban's head peeks out from behind the doorframe. When he sees the wrecked blasters on the floor he stands up and clutches the blaster pistol in one hand as he feels his way forward, eyes locked on the pirates. "Princess! Did you..."

That's right! I used my Force abilities to knock their blasters out of their hands without hurting them! I'm practically a Jedi Master! This should make you change your opinion about-

"...did you get in Mister Ronan's way?"

What.

"Thank you for saving us, Mister Ronan! I was so relieved when the captain told us you were aboard!" When Jax lowers his lightsaber and deactivates the blade, Toban steps into the room, holstering his own blaster as he stands up from his crouching scuttle. "Knowing you were here to help really calmed the passengers!"

He's got his back to the pirates! He's completely at ease now that he sees Jax!

"Cady and I both fought our hardest. Your captain was nice enough to agree to letting me secretly come aboard at your last port. I got a tip that someone might try to board this ship." Jax grins at Mako. "Looks like I caught more than I was expecting."

"We were double-crossed!" Mako closes his mouth and sulks. "Taken down by a pair of kids..."

"By the way, how close are we to Amantes?" A look from Jax freezes the three captive pirates and Cady realizes they've slowly crept halfway toward the open blast doors.

"We should be landing soon." Toban is as oblivious as before. "Your father has mobilized an escort. They're already in sensor range."

"Your father?" Cady blushes at blurting out the question.

"I guess you're not from this system." Jax flashes an embarrassed grin at Cady. "My father is the head of planetary security, so everyone around here knows me."

Is he seriously also famous? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all, the noble son of the knight who serves the king is a classic background for a "warrior hero" like Jax!

Toban is nodding happily. "Mister Ronan and his father are both very popular with the people of Amantes!"

The door behind them slides open again and more men wearing the same familiar uniform as Toban hesitantly enter behind, their blasters drawn. As soon as they see Jax, their attention shifts from the pirates and their blasters droop as they excitedly crowd around him.

"Mister Ronan! I didn't think you were really aboard!"

"Mister Ronan! What are you doing after we land?"

Or maybe they're more like local celebrities?

One of the other guards notices Cady. "Mister Ronan, are you and this girl a couple?"

We are not!

Toban raises his blaster and waves it at the pirates. "We'll take it from here, Mister Ronan." The other uniformed men lift up their own blasters toward the disarmed pirates. Toban dares a look over his shoulder at Jax and Cady. "I'm sorry to bother you, but would you mind taking Princess Omega back to her cabin?"

Like baggage!

"Princess Omega?" Jax clips his lightsaber hilt to his side and watches the guards press the pirates out through the door. He gestures at the doorway to Cady and when it slides closed after them, his attention turns back to her and then he drops to one knee in the hallway and bows his head.

Aaah! He's even kneeling like a prince!

"I guess I never formally introduced myself." Jax holds out his hand. "I'm Jax Ronan."

Cady reflexively holds out her own shaking hand. "I'm, um..."

What is this? Did I actually get hit by a blaster bolt? All of a sudden I can't feel my legs!

Jax stands up. Cady's head barely comes up to his chest. He's still holding her hand. "Princess?"

Cady squeaks out "Here!" and glances around the room and then looks at Jax's hand as it completely envelops hers.

This feels like he's cheating somehow!

She snatches her hand away and turns her back to Jax. "Princess Cady Omega of Sigis."

Was that too formal?

Her head inclines on its own and she looks at Jax from over her shoulder. "You... you can call me Cady."

Jax gives her his hero grin. "Princess Cady, then."

"Just... just Cady."

I don't think I can handle him calling me Princess all the time. Or is that a breach of social etiquette? Is that going to make hims suspicious of me?

Toban clears his throat behind Jax. "Mister Ronan, your father is waiting at the spaceport."

"I guess I couldn't have kept this secret from him forever..." Jax guiltily holds one arm behind his head. "He's probably really going to let me have it."

Even though Jax Ronan is one of the capture targets in L+L, his father is only briefly mentioned during one scene, and definitely doesn't appear in the story! If Cady never meets him in the game, does that mean that the sequence of events is different now? Is it because of something I did?

Toban gives Cady a diplomatic bow. "Princess Omega, your things are being delivered to your residence."

"Guh?"

(She didn't realized they already landed.)

"I'll show you to the academy when we're done. Come on, let's go!" Jax folds his arm around her and steers her through the crowd of passengers and down the exit ramp with his palm against her side. "Have you traveled to many planets?"

Isn't he being way too handsy?!

Cady has to squint as they step out into the bright sunlight. The sky is the expected shade of blue, but then she sees the spaceport's enormous control tower.

It didn't quite seem real inside the Stalwart Loreek because I was just inside hallways and rooms, but this really is a galaxy far, far away! Amantes is described in L+L as a remote planet in the Outer Rim, a relatively unpopulated and lawless backwater, but megastructures like this are a common sight on almost every planet in the Star Wars setting!

"Pretty nice, isn't it?" Jax's grin is contagious. "The rest of Amantes is even nicer!"

"Jax." Something in the voice makes Cady tense up like she's getting lectured by a teacher. The arm around her side disappears as they both turn in unison.

The man standing in front of them is a taller, more rugged version of Jax, and Cady instantly knows who she's looking at.

"Dad!"

His name is Jett? The game just calls him Commander Ronan! And he doesn't have any Force Points? I suppose that's not too strange. After all, Star Wars stories are full of characters with Force abilities whose parents don't know anything about the Force. It's one of the main in-setting reasons why Force-sensitive children often leave their families to be raised by the Jedi Order.

"That's a fine greeting after ignoring my orders and going off on your own. If events had gone otherwise, someone could have been injured." Jett turns his attention toward Cady and her face gets hot.

Jax notices the man's attention move away from him and shifts to the other foot. "Dad... Father. This is-"

"Princess Cady Omega." He bows his head and looks at her from under the fringe of hair in front of his steely eyes. "I am Commander Ronan. I must apologize for not having an escort ready when you arrived at the edge of the system."

Cady's eyes dart back and forth between the two and she holds up both hands and waves them frantically. "No, no, I'm sorry I caused so much trouble for you!

Oh God, he's a DILF!

"I wasn't expecting your ship to arrive until tomorrow..." Jett lifts his head back up and looks at Jax. "...and I wasn't expecting my son to be aboard. Even if he can claim success over those pirates."

"You could hardly even call them pirates!" Jax's grin is so broad he's squinting. "Well, anyway, we should really be-"

Jett's gaze falls on Cady again. "I'd like you to come with me to the guard post."

I mean, mentally I'm older than Cady, but are we really ready for an age-gap relationship?

"I should show Cady to her dormitory before it gets dark!" Jax is undeterred.

Cady can't suppress a swallow when Jett Ronan's eyes look downward at her. "Princess Omega, if you would come with me."

What should I say? Should I play hard to get?

"I suppose I can spare a few minutes."

"My landspeeder is right over there." Cady follows Jett's nod to a sleek floating open-top vehicle with bench seating and a low windshield.

(The scene changes to a close-up of a red plastic lunchbox with a full-side decal of Mark Hamill and Alec Guinness riding inside the Lars family landspeeder.)

A landspeeder! Even compared to all the famous spaceships, the landspeeder is one of the most iconic vehicles in the Star Wars setting, first seen during the beginning of the original Star Wars movie! Even though they can't fly very high, it's amazing to be able to see a real hovercar!

"Princess Omega?" When Cady looks down she sees Jett's hand wrap around hers. His other hand is holding the landspeeder's front door panel open.

Isn't this is too much formality?!

Jett leans in until his mustache is almost brushing against her cheek. "Are you feeling alright, Princess Omega? You look flushed."

"I'm fine!" Cady snatches her hand away like it's been burned and lunges past Jett onto the landspeeder's front seat. The hovering machine dips and rocks slightly as Jax vaults over the back panel and thumps into the seat behind her. When Jett sits next to her she looks away at the spaceport tower but then the landspeeder lurches forward and she can't help giving an excited squeak at the scenery blurring past.

Cady catches herself smiling as Jax leans forward over the seat and points at the buildings ahead of them. "The spaceport is on this edge of town. The Jedi academy is on the far edge, next to the forest."

She glances up at the words in the corner of her vision. "This town is Calor?"

"You're very well-informed, Princess Omega." Jett steers the landspeeder toward the open hangar doorway of a low boxy building and slows it to a stop alongside one wall next to a tall blue bipedal droid. "Here we are, the Calor Guard Post."

(It's really just a jail.)

"Welcome back, Commander Ronan. The three prisoners are securely locked up." The droid's head pivots toward Cady. "I see you located your son. Is this his new girlfriend?"

I am not!

Jett coughs and holds his fist over his mouth when he looks at Cady. "This is Emmo-Wunwun. Emmo, this is Princess Omega, one of the new students at the Jedi academy."

The droid's head pivots between the three and settles on Jett. "Is she your mistress?"

Was it really that easy?!

"Dad... I mean, father... you didn't bring us here just to introduce Cady to Emmo, did you?"

Jett clears his throat and nods. "You're right, I'm sure Princess Omega has had a tiring experience. Emmo, could you go check on the prisoners again?"

"Of course, Commander." Emmo tromps away down the hall and Jett watches before turning back to Cady and Jax.

"There's an organized group of criminals operating out of this system, your highness. Smuggling, slavery, anything for a credit. It's gotten to the point that I can't trust anyone except Jax. Not even Emmo."

"You really think Emmo might be part of it?" Jax glances up the hall in the direction the droid went and looks at his father.

"I think the spaceport arrival schedule for Princess Omega's ship was altered so it could be attacked." Jett looks at Cady and then Jax. "That reminds me, how did you know about all this?"

Jax fidgets with the back of his head for a few seconds. "I... got an anonymous tip that it would be attacked when it arrived a day early. I didn't want to tell anyone else in case the wrong beings heard about it."

Is someone seriously plotting behind the scenes to have me killed?!

Cady can't help looking up at Jax. "What do you mean, an anonymous tip?"

"I was at the town café a week ago when I noticed a datacard under my lunch." He reaches into the seam of his jacket and pulls out a small square black card. "I don't know who put it there, but it seems like they knew exactly what was going to happen."

This is too much! I need to get away from all these death flags as fast as possible!

"Well, I should really get to the aca..."

When she looks down, Jett is holding her hand again. "Princess Omega, I need your help against these vile, reprehensible criminals. I want you to go undercover for me."

Is he serious? Going undercover to infiltrate a den of lawless criminal scum? I wonder if he'll make me wear the iconic metal bikini made famous by Carrie Fisher in Return of the Jedi! Getting ogled by a crowd of vicious alien criminals in the den of a crime lord only to spring a surprise attack is a perfect plan for-

"I want you to go on a date with Jax to the café."

"What?!"

(Cady and Jax said it at the same time.)

Jett points a finger at Cady and taps the air, turning away as he does. "You may still be marked for death. If there's a connection to the café, this might provoke whoever's responsible into acting rashly."

This just sounds like he's using me as live bait!

"Prisoners still secured, Commander." Emmo trods up the hallway toward them.

"Emmo! Perfect timing, you can drive the landspeeder." Jax steps between Cady and Jett and clears his throat. "We really should get to the academy!"

Jett looks back over his shoulder at Jax and nods. "I expect an update on the undercover assignment by the end of the week!"

(The landspeeder ride across town was completely silent.)

Cady looks up from her lap when she feels the motion of the landspeeder under her start to slow, and then Emmo maneuvers it to a stop near a cluster of trees.

"Jax!" A tall girl in yellow armor steps away from the trees. When she gets closer a nametag appears and Cady's eyes go wide when she notices the number underneath Deline Elaas's name.

Does she seriously have more Force points than Jax?! I definitely have a super-low amount!

"Jax, you disappeared a week ago without telling anyone where you were going!" Deline puts her hands on her hips, one hand above a lightsaber hilt. "Where were you?"

"Sorry if I worried you." Jax climbs over the side of the landspeeder. As Cady steps out he adjusts his jacket. "The ship we were on just landed."

"Good luck with your café date, sir." Emmo steers the landspeeder away from the plaza and disappears.

"Jaaa-ax? Who's this?"

She finally noticed me! I'm getting serious alpha female vibes from her! Do I seriously have to go through the first day of high school again?

"This is Cady..." Jax puts a fist over his mouth. "I mean..."

Cady steps back and looks around and then holds her hands past her sides in an invisible curtsy. "Princess Cady Omega of Sigis."

"Princess Cady, this is Deline Elaas, my ex-girlfriend. She-"

"EX-ex-girlfriend!" Deline leans against Jax and he stumbles back a step.

Jax starts to say "We both agreed..." when Deline gives Cady an icy glare.

"I am Deline of Mandalorian Clan Elaas."

Did she just say she's a Mandalorian? First popularized by the character Boba Fett, a ruthless bounty hunter, the Mandalorians are a group of martial experts known to rival the Jedi in battle skill even without Force powers! And she has a crazy high number of Force points!

"Jax, what did Emmo mean about a café date?" Deline grins up at Jax and flashes a quick glance at Cady.

She wants to kill me!

"My father wants us to go undercover there, in case whoever tried to kill Cady reveals themselves."

"What? An undercover mission?" Deline closes her mouth and looks at Cady and then looks back at Jax. "I should be the one to perform an important mission like this!"

That doesn't even make sense!

"Well, it was my father's idea, so..." Jax takes another step backward away from Deline.

Without looking back she follows his backstep and locks eyes with Cady. "We'll have a sparring match to find out who's more competent at defending herself."

This girl is insane! And this is obviously a death flag!

Deline ignites her lightsaber and the yellow blade crackles as it rises up past her eyes. "Take up your lightsaber, princess."

She literally has ten times as many Force points as me!

"I thought Mandalorians had helmets..."

Oh, God, did I just say that out loud? She's going to kill me for sure!

"Huh? You want to know about my helmet?"

Cady takes an involuntary step backward under Deline's unflinching gaze. "I didn't mean to-"

Deline looks up at Jax and her face softens into a grin. "Jax, did you hear that? She wants to know about my helmet!"

"Ahhhh... here we go..." Jax closes his eyes and takes another step sideways and back.

This time Deline doesn't follow. Instead her lightsaber blade shrinks to a spark and vanishes and her beaming smile turns back toward Cady as she clips the hilt to her side. "What else do you know about Mandalorians?"

"Um... they have lots of weapons? Like, um... blasters?"

"Eeee!"

That was a squeal!

Deline clasps her hands together. "How do you know so much about Mandalorians?"

"I, um..." Cady swallows and looks at Jax slinking away. Suddenly Deline is closer than a second ago.

Force Teleport!

Deline grips Cady's hand. "Come on, I'll show you around the academy. All the classes are finished for the day. Did you really just land?"

She just flipped from murderous to besties!

"Come on, hurry!" Deline is giggling as she drags Cady up the stone steps and into the huge arched hallway. "The dormitories are this way!"

Cady looks up at the skylight dome and suddenly collides with something buoyant and short and loud. "Hey, watch it!"

The first thing she sees when she looks down is a pair of big red eyes staring up at her and Cady stumbles back with a yelp.

"Huhhh? Not even an apology?" The girl bats at one of her thick locks of hair.

"Sorry! I just..." Cady looks at the nametag in front of the girl.

Lyra Tarkin? One of the 'Tarkin Twins!'

(The scene changes to Peter Cushing sneering downward at Carrie Fisher.)

Even though it's never been officially confirmed, the L+L fanbase is in near-unanimous agreement that the Tarkin Twins are related to Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, one of the antagonist characters in the original Star Wars movie! Even though Grand Moff Tarkin was presented in the movie as a cruel villain, the Tarkin Twins are two of the most popular L+L characters! And of course they both have way more Force points than me! Am I really the class delinquent?

"Well?" Lyra squishes her fists against her hips and leans forward.

"Sorry! I've... um, I've never met a human with red eyes before."

Lyra turns her head sideways as far as it will go. "Hmph. Where are you from?"

"Jap- I mean..., um..."

"This is Princess Cady of Sigis. Her ship just landed!"

Nice save, Deline!

Lyra leans in close to Cady's face. "Ohhhh-? I've never met anyone from Sigis before." She leans away and stands back up straight and bats at her hair. "And anyway, on our home planet, lots of people have red eyes. Right, Obi?"

Oberon Tarken! He's the second capture target in L+L! Oberon is the classic 'cool guy with glasses.' He's known as one of the most difficult capture targets in the game.

"Please don't call me Obi." Oberon pokes at the center of his optics with one finger.

Lyra beams at Oberon and tilts her face toward Cady. "Obi has the most beautiful eyes but I never get to see them because he never takes off his optics!"

Lyra is the biggest obstacle to the player's relationship with Oberon because she has a brother complex. It's almost impossible to get her to leave Oberon's side in order to have "alone time" with him. Most players ignore Oberon completely because the methods to separate the Tarkin Twins can be hard to accomplish based on the game's randomization.

"Well, we're going to the commissary. See ya, Princess Sigis!" Lyra wraps her arm around her brother's elbow and skips in a half-circle until their backs are to Cady.

She's like a human sheepdog!

"Princess Cady, this way!" Deline's grin is as big as ever.

Cady has to hurry to catch up to her. "You can just call me Cady. It's what I told Ja- I mean, I don't mind."

"It's more fun to call you Princess Cady!"

So chivalrous!

Deline stops in front of a door and Cady leans back and squints over the other girl's shoulder at which button she's supposed to push. The door slides open silently and Deline steps inside without waiting. "It looks like you got one of the small rooms."

This room is bigger than my apartment!

Cady steps inside and looks around the high-ceiling room before she's drawn to the windows overlooking the forest beyond Calor.

What a view! Is this really where I get to live? I can't imagine what the big rooms look like!

"Deline, is your... huh?" She turns around expecting the other girl and the sudden solitude is unnerving. "Deline?" Cady takes a step toward the doorway and puts one hand on her lightsaber as she steps into the hall.

"Here it is!" Deline's voice behind her makes Cady squeak. "This is my helmet! Every Mandalorian has one... you probably already know that! And this is my birthday rifle! Isn't it amazing? It's my favorite blaster even though I've only had it for a few months! Do you like blasters, Princess Cady? We should go out to the scrap fields by the spaceport sometime and shoot at targets! You can borrow one of mine! It'll be fun to figure out which one suits you the most!"

She's a blaster otaku!

"Do you have any interests, Princess Cady?"

"Me? Oh, um..."

Is there anything I'm good at that Deline will understand? Most of my knowledge is based on Earth, after all!

(She just remembered something.)

"...Meal preparation?"

"Really?" Deline sets her helmet and blaster rifle on the bed. "Maybe we should go for a walk into town! There are lots of shops in the market! I'm sure you can find lots of ingredients."

"Um, well, you know, it's already late in the day..."

"Oh!" Deline claps her hands. "I should sleep here in your room with you tonight! Then we can keep chatting all through the night!"

We've gone from high school to middle school!

"I never got to see you use your lightsaber." Deline pouts for a moment and then she grins. "We should trade lightsabers!"

Are we going to make friendship bracelets too?!

"Maybe!" Cady looks around the room and back toward Deline grinning at her. "Um, you know, I've never slept well on a spaceship."

Technically not a lie!

"Oh! You're probably tired from your trip!" Deline scoops up her blaster rifle and juggles it against her arm as she grabs the helmet. "My room is just down the hall. I'll come get you tomorrow morning!"

Cady drops back on the bed, too exhausted to keep her eyes open.

When she opens her eyes, only the lighting has changed.

I guess that settles it. This really isn't a dream!

Cady shifts and tucks her hands behind her head as she watches the ceiling.

I wonder what time it is. It seems late. If this really is like Love and Lightsabers, does that mean this is the window for a nighttime encounter? L+L penalizes your performance in front of the academy's Jedi Masters if you don't get enough rest. Maybe the other Jedi Masters can help me increase my total number of Force points. On the other hand, there are lots of encounters that only occur at night. Now that I'm thinking about it, there's supposed to be an entire optional subplot that culminates in Princess Cady getting a cute pet. The trigger encounter only happens at night, and only on certain nights. I can't remember which characters the player supposedly needs to have already met to trigger the event flag.

Suddenly Cady's stomach rumbles.

(She just realized she didn't eat anything since she woke up on the spaceship.)

All of a sudden I'm starving! Let's see... my Force points are all refreshed! Does that mean I recover Force points from sleeping, or do they just come back after a set period of-

(Her stomach just rumbled again.)

The Tarkin Twins said there was a commissary. That means lunchroom, right? It's definitely the most likely place to find something to eat!

Cady sits up and stands next to the bed.

Yes! I will venture to the commissary! But it feels like I'm forgetting something...

(She just remembered her lightsaber.)

Never leave your lightsaber unattended!

Cady fumbles at the wall panel until the door slides open and then she carefully shuffles forward until she recognizes the domed skylight in the central hall.

This place is huge! I should have followed the Tarkin Twins. I can't remember which way they went because I was so focused on keeping Deline from switching back to murder mode.

She looks back and doesn't recognize which passageway she came out of to get to this point.

Would it be disrespectful to use my lightsaber as a torch? I really hope they have leftovers, or maybe a vending machine...

Cady turns around and starts to retrace her steps but then she realizes she's in an unfamiliar part of the hallway. She turns the other direction and something is floating in the shadow beyond the moonlight.

Is that a nametag?

The shadow seems to recognize it's been noticed and Cady goes speechless when she notices what's underneath Jorma Gon's name.

THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FORCE POINTS?!

The shadow shifts position and ignites a red lightsaber.

Are we seriously having a combat event?! Red lightsabers are one of the most well-known visual cues of villains in the Star Wars setting!

The shadow takes another step closer to Cady.

I'm dead!

She hears the hum of the lightsaber blade getting closer, when suddenly it's snatched away and she can hear footsteps retreating.

Thank you, God!

When she opens her eyes the hallway is empty, but then her eyes catch a flutter of movement disappear around a corner.

Wait, is this actually a chase event and not a combat event?

There's no way I can fight someone like that! I should really just stay here and call for help...

(She's gritting her teeth.)

But I really want that pet!

Cady's first step is halting but then the adrenaline kicks in and she lunges forward sprinting down the hallway behind the shadow. "You're not getting away that easily!"

Yes! I just have to stay behind them and I won't have to fight anyone!

As soon as Cady runs out the front door of the Jedi Academy and onto the first wide stone step, she stumbles to a halt and stares out at the dark plaza until she sees a nametag bobbing up the side of a wall.

There! I can follow someone in the dark with perfect accuracy as long as I keep looking in their direction! Another overpowered isekai cheat ability!

Cady runs across the center of the plaza between the two ancient statues with her head tilted sideways as she follows the nametag through the night sky above her. The nametag leaps across a narrow alley and drops down out of view.

I lost it! Maybe I can find the nametag again before they get too far away...

She leans forward and sprints up the sloped cobblestone path, nearly out of breath. When she reaches the top Cady sees the nametag disappear around the corner and she slows to a jog, but then she sees another nametag floating motionless in the alley.

GNK-E? That sounds like a "gonk" droid, otherwise known as a power droid! They're slow, they don't say much, but their indomitable spirit and their tendency to show up in the background of important scenes has made them one of the most popular kinds of droids among the fanbase! It doesn't seem to be doing anything, though. Is it even on?

Cady walks up the last few steps to the top of the alleyway and sees Jorma's nametag closer than she expected and she stops at the same instant a red lightsaber ignites in front of her neck.

Too close! If I hadn't seen that nametag-

A voice behind them says "Alright, Gonky, here we go. Tell me if you see anyone."

Three lights blink on and a metallic warble replies "Gonk." As it does, Jorma's lightsaber blade disappears. Cady, too exhausted to continue the chase, can only watch as the shadowy figure leaps upward and out of sight.

The droid's lights flicker again. "Gonk."

"A lightsaber? What are you talking about?"

The droid waddles forward a step and its lights flicker in Cady's direction. "Gonk." From behind it, the young man crouched down next to a panel of lights on the wall stands up and sees Cady. As he comes into view from behind the droid, so does his nametag.

"Ren Starbreaker!"

"Huh? Do I know you?"

It's Ren Starbreaker, the fourth capture target! It's hard to even get Ren to show up in the first place because his event windows are so limited! He's not one of the Jedi Academy students, so his storyline is entirely optional and easy to miss. And he doesn't have a ridiculous number of Force points! Finally, someone I can feel superior to!

Ren glances down at the lightsaber on Cady's hip. "Are you one of those kids from the Jedi school?"

I definitely need to introduce myself! Even if this doesn't go anywhere, I need a relationship with Ren in order to start the series of events that leads to getting a pet! I just have to be charming to get him to like me a little, right?

"Yes."

(She's just smiling.)

Aaaah! I can't think of anything to say! He's too good-looking, I just want to watch him while he sneers at me!

"Um... I'm Cady Omega. Actually, today is my first day at the Jedi Academy. I haven't really done anything, except sleep." Cady looks away and puffs out her cheek and mutters "...and watch a blaster rifle get disassembled and reassembled four times..."

"Uh-huh." Ren pats the droid on its head and glances away at the mouth of the alley. "Well, Cady, it was nice to meet you, but we're really busy at the moment, so why don't you hurry back to school before you get in trouble? Gonky here has some important business to take care of. Right, Gonky?"

The droid's lights flicker again. "Gonk."

Ren glances at the power droid and frowns. "Huh? She's not a droid, she's a human."

"If it isn't Ren Starbreaker." Cady's head turns at the sound and sees Emmo tromping up the alley mouth toward them. "What offense are you committing tonight?"

"Emmo, what a coincidence seeing you here!" Ren takes a step backward and bumps against the power droid. "How long's it been?"

"You were last incarcerated eight weeks ago."

As expected of the bad-boy character!

The police droid's head begins to pivot toward Cady but then it spins back around the other direction toward the blinking lights on the wall behind them. "That panel has been tampered with."

"A wall panel? Where?" Ren makes a show of looking toward the far wall of the alley. "It's too dark for organics like me to see anything."

Emmo is undeterred. "It appears someone was trying to gain access to the back entrance of this establishment."

At the edge of Cady's vision, GNK-E begins to slowly crab-walk sideways away from the others.

That droid is making a run for it!

Suddenly a warm weight wraps around Cady's midsection as Ren puts his arm around her and gives a gentle squeeze. "Couldn't have been me, Emmo. I just got here to pick Cady up for our date!" Ren tilts his face toward Cady until their heads touch. "Right, lover?"

Aaaah! He smells so good! And he's so warm! My heart is about to explode! I'm not ready for this even if it's just pretend!

Emmo's head pivots from Ren and stops aimed at Cady. "Is that true, Princess Omega?"

Cady's face turns bright red as Ren's lips brush against her ear. "You're a princess?"

Too much!

Emmo raises his blaster. "If he's bothering you, please allow me to assist."

Emmo's optics whir as the droid scrutinizes her. Ren's arm around her waist has paralyzed her lungs. All she can hear is the pounding of her pulse inside her ears. Ren begins to whisper something against her neck and she blurts out "I'm really on a date with Ren!"

"Very suspicious." Emmo's head spins around and clicks at Ren and then rotates toward Cady. "Your profile depicts you as a dilettante wastrel. Not someone I'd expect to socialize with petty criminals."

Too harsh!

The power droid rocks sideways. "Gonk."

"Yeah, who are you calling petty?" Ren puts a hand on Gonky's top surface.

Emmo ignores them both, focusing and refocusing its optics on Cady. "What's the real reason you're in a dark alley this late at night, Princess Omega?"

(She was looking around for Jorma Gon but it just looks suspicious to Emmo.)

I can't say anything about Jorma Gon in front of Emmo in case Jorma is still hiding close by. I guess I don't want Ren to get in Jorma's way, either. As long as Jorma doesn't think they saw anything, they should be safe, right?

Cady swallows and nods her head against Ren's shoulder. "He's... we..." She swallows again and looks up at Ren as he glances down at her and then she grins at the police droid. "It was love at first sight!"

Ren coughs in surprise and Emmo's optics whir again as Cady grins and sweats, but then the droid's head spins to face the mouth of the alley. "I've heard enough. All of you, go loiter somewhere else."

The gentle pressure of Ren's arm around her midsection disappears and Cady takes a breath of cool night air but then Ren seizes her hand in his and she halts mid-breath as he grins. "Let's not disappoint Emmo, right, Princess?"

Did he have to phrase it that way?!

Ren leads Cady by the hand back down the cobbled slope while the power droid shuffles behind.

Power droids are so slow!

She glances back between them at Gonky and slows her own footsteps. As she looks forward she catches herself beginning to smile and straightens her face but then she glances down at her fingers entwined in Ren's hand and allows her mouth to arc back up again.

But I guess I don't mind...

Ren looks back at the droid and squeezes her hand. "We were lucky the Princess showed up!"

He has no idea I almost got beheaded by a lightsaber! What were they doing there anyway? Was he really going to commit burglary?

"Um, by the way..."

Before Cady can ask anything, her stomach interrupts with a loud gurgling and she snatches her hand out of Ren's grasp and covers her mouth. "I should get back to the academy, um... in case they do a room check!"

"Wait!" Ren holds out his hand toward Cady. "How about something to eat? It's the least I can do."

Now that he knows I'm a princess his attitude has totally changed! I can use this to my advantage!

"I..." Cady turns her side to Ren and looks at the power droid's flickering lights.

What's with this weird sense of hesitation? It's a free meal, right?

"Princess?"

Cady pivots in place toward Ren and crosses her arms. "I will allow you to dine with me!"

(She just realized everything around them is dark.)

"Um... is any restaurant even open?"

"Relax, Princess. I know where to get some food. It's close, too. Just follow me." He thumps the power droid's top surface. "Come on, Gonky." The power droid turns and follows Ren as he leads Cady past a cluster of closed market stalls. The piles of stock cast deep shadows on the moonlit ground. A loose piece of canvas flaps in the breeze. Cady gives a startled flinch and glances behind them.

Are we going to get jumped by Jorma Gon? This feels like the setup to a combat scene!

"We can come back here tomorrow if you want to go shopping." Ren's grin catches her off-guard. "Here it is. Wait one second." Ren stops in front of a building door and pries open the panel of blinking lights next to the doorframe. The wires behind the panel casing spark and the door haltingly slides open halfway.

He's just breaking into this place!

Cady allows Ren to take her hand and lead her through the narrow gap. "Are we allowed to be here?" The panel sparks again, making her flinch and squeeze his hand tighter. The air inside is heady with a mix of floral scents. As her eyes adjust to the dim glow from the wall lights, she can see unfamiliar flowers everywhere. "This is a flower shop!"

Ren lets go of her hand. "It's fine, this is my place."

The location tag never lies!

The flowers nearest her are too enticing to ignore, and she sniffs and looks up as Ren turns toward an interior doorway, but then Ren freezes as the barrel of a blaster pistol emerges from the darkness.

"Ren!"

Cady shouts his name and the blaster pistol wavers and droops down as an old woman peers into the room. "Oh, it's just you, Ren." The old woman looks down as she stuffs the blaster into her apron pocket. "How long have you been out of jail?"

"Uh..." Ren's hand drifts up to nervously rub the back of his head. "Eight weeks?"

"You're out for eight weeks and this is the first time you-"

They both stop and turn as Cady's stomach gurgles again.

"A-ha-ha! Granny Parn, this is Princess Cady Omega." Ren has suddenly appeared at Cady's side, her hand held in his own at chest level.

Zero-cost Force teleport!

"The truth is, she was lost and hungry, so I told her you might be able to give her a meal."

That's thirty percent truth at best!

"Oh, a princess? You can call me Winda." She smiles at Ren and says "Ren only calls me 'Granny' when he wants something." Winda turns and shuffles back through the doorway. "I'm sure I can find something for you. Just wait here."

Did he really just break into his grandmother's house and wake her up to make me a late-night meal?!

Cady looks pointedly at Ren as he fidgets with adjusting a flowerpot. Ren notices her looking and grins. "I told you I'd get you something to eat!"

He doesn't feel guilty about any of this!

Cady's head drifts up as she realizes she's smelling something delicious. "Here we are!" Winda shuffles back into the room carrying a plate stacked with sizzling blue lumps and jutting bones.

What kind of animal turns blue when it's cooked?!

(The scene changes to a group of excited people in t-shirts seated at a table, as servers in Star Wars-themed costumes serve them large platters of food. The expressions of excitement quickly turn to disgust as they see the blue shrimp.)

One of Disney's most notable failures after acquiring Lucasfilm was the Galaxy's Edge themed hotel, an indoor resort intended to make guests feel as though they were actually on a spaceship taking part in exciting adventures. Among other things, the hotel was criticized for the heavily-dyed food served at meals. Even though characters in the Star Wars movies are often shown eating unnatural-colored foods, real-world humans can't enjoy the sight of food that looks like it's completely rotted!

"Um, you know, I actually..." Cady looks up at Winda's smiling face.

(She just realized Winda is waiting for her to take a bite.)

Cady glances back down at the greasy blue lump.

This is probably safe to eat, right? After all, her nametag says she's a human. And I guess it smells alright...

She can't help holding her breath as she wills her jaw to bite into the hardened skin, but then the savory juices hit her tongue and her eyes widen in surprise.

It's delicious! Aaah! I don't care how weird it looks!

Cady finally looks up as she realizes she's gnawing on the bone. Winda smiles and giggles. "My, you really were hungry!"

Ren grins behind his half-eaten piece. She looks at the power droid and Gonky's lights flicker.

Even the droid thinks I'm a pig!

"Since you brought Gonky, would you mind charging the cooling unit in the back?" Winda smiles at Ren and adds "You can fix my door later."

"You heard Granny." Ren stands up and Winda watches the power droid follow him out of the room.

The old woman's attention turns back to Cady. "If he isn't kept busy, he gets into trouble."

The silence is getting awkward!

"Um..." Cady looks down at her plate and back up at Winda. "Is Ren really a criminal?"

"If you want to know about Ren, you should visit the café."

When did this café date become an unskippable event?

She looks up as Ren steps back through the doorway and then stands up and bows her head at Winda. "Thank you for the meal! I really should go."

Ren mumbles "Goodnight, Granny." When they're both outside Ren clears his throat. "Um, Princess, about before..."

Cady can't help glancing past Ren at the dark street.

I can't see a nametag unless the character is in my line of sight! Jorma Gon could be anywhere in a crowded place like this! The sooner I get Ren away from me, the safer he'll be.

"Didn't you offer to take me shopping?" Cady steps back until she's out of reach and looks up at Ren. "You can pick us up tomorrow afternoon."

"'Us?'"

"You didn't think I'd go somewhere alone with you, did you?"

"Uh, no, I... I mean-" Ren scratches the back of his head.

He's too cute when his tough-guy defenses are down!

(She's still looking at Ren.)

That doesn't matter though, right? I'm only pursuing this route long enough to get to the pet acquisition scene!

Ren finally looks back at Cady and grins as he reaches for her hand. "Come on, I'll walk you back to your school."

I should probably avoid any more hand-holding!

Cady snatches her hand back and covers it with her other hand and then smiles up at Ren. "I can get there just fine! After all, I live there!"

(She has no idea which direction it is.)

"That street."

"Huh?" Cady looks in the direction Ren's pointing and then back at him.

"That's the street that leads to your school." She can see Ren grinning even in the dark.

"I know!" Cady's steps are awkwardly long as she corrects her path.

"Sure you don't want me to escort you?"

Cady breaks into a jog. "I'll see you tomorrow!"

(She's glad it's too dark to see her blushing.)

For a few minutes she doesn't think she's going the right way but then she sees the dome of the Jedi Academy silhouetted against the night sky and she stops and pants until she catches her breath and then walks across the plaza.

That was a little too much to take! I don't know how I'm going to handle being out with Ren in public, even if Deline is with me!

Cady's mind is too occupied to notice the nametags floating out of the dark until the two lightsaber blades snap into existence in front of her.

Oh God, it's a death flag!

A woman with blue skin holds up her lightsaber and blinks at Cady. "You must be the new student who arrived this afternoon."

A Pantoran! One of the many "near-human" races in Star Wars that's essentially just a palette swap of a normal human, but it's still amazing to see her in person!

(She's looking downward.

Was she taking a bath?!

I'm Jedi Master Fili Cynto." The blue-skinned woman deactivates her lightsaber. "This is Jedi Master Harn Myzer."

"Prin- Um, I mean, Cady Omega, of Sigis." Cady bows her head and glances up at the huge man.

Harn shifts his posture but his own lightsaber remains ignited. "I sense much potential in you, but also-"

Oh God, he's a hunk! I can't focus on anything he's saying! Did L+L actually have this many hot older men? Look at his neck! It's like a tree stump! I can't even see his lightsaber hilt because his hands are so big! Is he really human?!

"Cady, are you alright?" She looks down at the warm blue softness enveloping her shoulder. Fili wraps an arm around Cady, pulling her even further into the blue bosom.

How does that robe not come open when she swings a lightsaber?!

"Someone had been inside the academy who wasn't supposed to be there." Fili slips her lightsaber hilt into a pocket and embraces Cady from behind.

(It looks like she's wearing a neck pillow.)

Before Cady knows what's happening, Fili grabs her shoulders and spins her around and Cady's face plunges into the blue chest. "Everything is fine now."

Is this really just a cultural misunderstanding?

Fili lets go and grabs Cady's wrist, dragging her behind Harn's back. "I'll make sure Cady gets to her room!"

Cady sits up in bed, eyes half-closed, and blinks at the light for a second before she realizes it's morning.

I never told the Jedi Masters about Jorma Gon because I got too distracted!

Still bleary-eyed, Cady waddles toward the door, fumbling to clip her lightsaber to the low-slung belt. She swats and the blinking panel until the door slides open and then takes another step forward, but then she stops in the doorway and looks down at Deline doing push-ups in full armor outside her door.

She's one of those early-morning workout buffs who makes everyone else look bad!

Deline stands up panting and gives Cady a wide smile. "Ready for breakfast?" She bounces as she turns and skips up the hall. "I remember you said you know how to cook, but I thought I could make us breakfast today!" When they reach the empty commissary Deline pushes Cady down on one of the stone benches and disappears into another room. "I'll be right back!"

When Deline returns, Cady's stomach has gurgled enough to make her ready to eat anything, but what the other girl returns with defies classification. It looks like dirty snow, or maybe old roofing insulation. Deline grins at her and holds up the tray toward Cady.

(She's having flashbacks of last night.)

This is just like the blue meat Winda served us, right? I'm sure it tastes amazing, like American-style mashed potatoes, or maybe a traditional scrambled egg omelette! Yes! Let's take the first bite with a positive mindset!

Cady grins happily at Deline and dips her spoon into the lumpy gray pile and then she pops the entire spoonful into her mouth and her face puckers.

It's like eating sandy glue!

"What do you think?" Deline takes a bite and blinks and then swallows and grins. "I made plenty for both of us!"

I don't know if I can refuse without Deline switching back into murder mode! Is this seriously what I'm going to have to eat every day?

Cady nods and pretends to swallow. "Mmmm!"

(She just noticed Deline is almost finished eating.)

There's only one thing to do! Yes!

(She looks really determined again.)

After classes today, I'm going to find the best ingredients in Calor and make a meal worthy of an isekai protagonist, even if I have to hold hands with Ren the entire time!

Cady holds her breath and quickly shovels the rest of her portion into her mouth. Before Deline can offer seconds, she stands up. "Let's get to class!"

When they get back into the main hallway Deline points toward a side door. "There are really only two main classrooms, an indoor one and an outdoor one." Behind her, Cady scrapes a clump of Deline's breakfast out of her mouth and follows the other girl into a large open room with two rings of bench seating surrounding a sandy pit. "This is the indoor classroom."

It looks more like a fighting ring!

The Tarkin Twins and Jax Ronan are already inside. "Hey, Princess Sigis!" Lyra Tarkin kicks her feet and waves at Cady from across the room.

"Now that you two are here, that's everyone." Fili claps her hands. "Everyone, please pair up with a partner."

Lyra grabs Oberon's arm and leans into his shoulder. "I pick Obi!"

"Jax and I will be partners!" Deline sits down next to Jax and scoots closer. Jax leans in the opposite direction and Deline encroaches even more.

"Cady, you can partner with Triss." Fili moves aside and Cady sees a brown-haired girl in a silver vest shyly turn toward her.

Triss Nodat? I don't remember this character at all! Did I just not play the route where she appears?

(She just noticed Triss's FP total.)

Triple digits! She's practically one of the teachers!

"Um..." Cady can't help herself. "Are you a student here?"

The other girl bashfully looks down.

Did I say something to upset her? Is she here on a scholarship or something?

"It's my first day of class!" Cady blurts out something hoping it will put the other girl at ease.

It works. Triss grins and looks back up at Cady. "Not officially. I'm just the assistant Jedi Librarian, but everyone here is so nice to me and they said I could sit in."

Is Jedi Librarian listed as a support class or what? Do they not understand how powerful she is?

"Wait, librarian?"

Triss nods and looks at her feet. "I usually spend every afternoon helping Master Izer in the academy's library. It's always so cool down there, even on hot days like today!"

That's right! The Jedi Academy in L+L is quite a large campus, but many areas are inaccessible unless you go there with a specific "key" character! I bet Triss is the key character for the academy library! Gaining entrance to the academy library in L+L is necessary to acquire the Jedi Holocron that's stored in the academy basement.

(She just realized what she remembered.)

The Jedi Holocron! First introduced in Dark Empire, a comic book published as a sequel to the original trilogy, holocrons were later re-canonized by Disney, making them an indisputable part of the setting. A holocron is usually a palm-sized crystal shaped like a cube or pyramid and stores holographic copies of ancient Jedi Masters. They're filled with all sorts of useful secret knowledge! Maybe the ancient Jedi Masters can tell me how to increase my Force points!

Cady realizes everyone else is silent and she looks up as Fili stands at the edge of the sand pit. "The Force is always powerful. It's our connection to the Force that allows us to perform great things." She holds out one hand in front of her and the sand in the pit starts to rise up until she's looking at a life-sized statue of herself. "But maintaining a powerful connection is difficult, and usually takes practice." The sand statue collapses back into the pit. "Does anyone want to volunteer to try this?"

Finally, a chance for me to try out my Force Move ability!

Cady raises her hand and stands up confidently. "I will!" As she approaches the sand pit she glances at Fili's nametag and sees 190 has changed to 185.

Yes! I have just enough Force points to do this!

She takes a deep breath and holds out one hand over the sand pit just like Fili did.

Force Move!

At her feet, a spiral of grit spins into the air like a miniature tornado and Cady giggles but then sand explodes everywhere and the hazy room fills with coughing.

(She just checked her status window.)

Did that really cost an entire Force point?!

Fili giggles and pats the sand from her robe. "Experience is the best teacher!" She walks toward the doorway and glances over her shoulder at Cady. "You can all spend the rest of the morning practicing." As she disappears through the doorway she calls out "I want to see results by tomorrow!"

Does that even count as teaching?!

Cady looks at the doorway for a moment and then her eyes widen.

I never talked to the Jedi Masters about Jorma Gon!

"Cady?" Triss is leaning forward into her vision. "Is something wrong?"

When Cady turns back she sees the other students laughing and making the sand float and she looks at the door again and then blinks at Triss.

"Oh, I see..." Triss follows Cady's gaze and watches Lyra squatting on the other side of the sand pit with her hands outstretched as an uneven hill slowly rises up. "You're probably embarrassed to be partnered with me."

Where did that come from?

Triss looks back to Cady and smiles. "Now that Master Cynto is gone, it's fine if you don't talk to me anymore."

Her self-esteem is even lower than mine!

"No, no, no! That's not it at all! Let me introduce you to my friends!" Cady grabs Triss's hand and walks her around the center to the other students. "Does everybody know Triss?"

Lyra looks up, still squatting in front of the sand pit. "You're the girl from the commissary!"

Oberon crosses his arms. "I believe she's the assistant Jedi Librarian."

"Um, Triss, this is Lyra and her brother Oberon, and that's Deline and Jax."

"Are you a student here?" Deline frowns in concentration as she holds her hand outstretched above the rising column of sand.

"She must be, right?" The column of sand collapses when Deline looks up at Jax and catches him looking at Triss.

"Hey, Princess Sigis!" Lyra pops up in front of Cady's face. "What do people do for fun at school on your home planet?"

Cady glances around the expectant faces. "Um..."

(She didn't participate in any clubs.)

"I guess... around this time of year would be a school festival?"

"A school festival?" Deline leans in. "What's that?"

Lyra's hair bobs as she nods. "Yeah, sounds fun!"

"The students sell food and compete with the other classes to see who can earn the most money, and the clubs have exhibit booths with information about what they do." Cady grins at the other girls.

(They don't look as excited anymore.)

"That doesn't sound very fun," Lyra mutters.

I'm losing the crowd!

"Well, um... sometimes there's a twist, you know? Like a crossplay maid café or something."

Deline and Lyra glance at one another and then Deline begins to sound it out. "Cross...?"

"Uh, you know, the female students dress in long pants and crisp vests tailored to look like men, and the male students wear short frilly dresses tailored to look like women."

Lyra grips her hands together. "If we did that, everyone would want to go to Obi's café!"

Deline and Triss give a simultaneous squeal and Oberon stammers "H-hey!" and then adjusts his posture and repositions his optics. "Why am I the one you're talking about?"

"Is that really something they do on your home planet, Cady?" Triss's eyes are sparkling.

They say it's always the librarian-types!

Jax clears his throat. "What else do students do on your home planet?"

Nice save, Jax!

"When it's hot out? Class hikes, I suppose."

"Hikes?" Deline perks up.

"Really, everyone just walks around in a natural area like a forest, and observe the plants and animals. It's supposed to help develop a better understanding of the world..."

Most students just see it as a chance to goof off outside with their friends!

"That still sounds like fun!" Deline is grinning again.

"Yeah, we could see lots of animals!" Lyra grabs Oberon's arm. "You'll protect me if something scary attacks us, right, Obi?"

Oberon's head tilts downward. "They say you only have to outrun the other person."

As Lyra pouts, Jax grins at Oberon. "Remind me to never get lost in the forest with you."

"We can use the forest on the edge of Calor." Triss smiles at Cady. "Let's do a class hike like they do on Cady's home planet!"

Cady follows the other students up the hallway and through a door and then another door opens into bright sunlight. Beyond is a field ringed with tall gouged stone blocks. and a round line of stone benches on either side of a grassy pit. Jax looks back at Cady as she steps through the doorway. "They call this the outdoor classroom."

This is clearly a fighting ring!

"Obi, turn around!" Lyra leans into Oberon and shoves him in a half-circle until he's facing the academy doorway. "And count from ten!" Before her brother can turn around, Lyra bounds over the stone bench and behind one of the tall blocks and shouts "Guess which one I'm behind!"

Oberon turns around and scans the field for a moment and then stops. "That one."

Lyra's hair bobs as her head lunges into view. "No fair using your optics!"

"Fine, fine." Oberon waves a dismissive hand. "But I might lose you in the forest."

Lyra frowns in irritation but then squeals in surprise as Deline leaps out at her from behind another stone block. Triss makes a quick joyful giggle and stops herself.

"I found a path!" Jax waves and points at his feet. "We can follow this."

Cady turns to follow them between the stone blocks when she notices a nametag in the corner of her vision that makes her swallow and begin to sweat.

Aaaah! Just when I got over last night, Harn Myzer is here! And he's looking at me!

(She just realized they're alone.)

Aaaah! I wish Master Cynto was here too, but at the same time I really don't!

Cady swallows again and the green-robed man turns toward her. "My class isn't until the afternoon." Before she can say anything, he leans down and grasps the edges of one of the stone block seats to adjust it. Cady glances toward where the students have disappeared into the hazy treeline beyond the stones. She hears Harn grunt and when she looks back he lifts up the stone.

He didn't even need to use Force Move!

Harn lowers it back into place and repositions it, and then looks up at Cady staring at him. "Is there something on your mind?"

He could fit one hand completely around my neck!

Cady pivots toward the building, her face even redder.

I can't look in that direction right now!

"Um..." Cady can't help glancing at him and immediately regrets it. She turns her back and coughs. "Can we go somewhere private and talk?"

"Private?" She hears his robe rustle and his presence looming behind her makes her knees bump together.

Aaaah! His voice is so deep my muscles are getting a massage!

She repositions her feet and freezes as her hood brushes against something. "Then you can accompany me to the dungeon."

"D-d-d-"

"It's what we call the storeroom."

Bait and switch!

"This way." Harn walks past as Cady furtively sniffs the air in his wake.

Is this what cavewomen got to have every day?!

Harn stops and tilts his head and Cady stumbles back as they lock eyes and she stammers "Right behind you!" His gaze lingers long enough to force Cady's own gaze down onto the grass. When he takes a step forward she follows without looking up until they're back inside the main hallway.

Past the door to the commissary Harn unexpectedly turns toward the wall. There's an alcove Cady didn't notice before, and once inside she can see a narrow stairwell leading down into darkness. "Go ahead," Harn rumbles behind her.

Cady lobs a hesitant glance backward but he's blocking the alcove mouth so she looks down into the dark and takes a step. After twenty-odd steps she reaches a carved cavern room. An ancient and corroded light array on the far wall flickers steadily.

"Those need to be moved upstairs." Harn stoops his head to fit through the doorway and Cady turns her head to follow his nod and sees a pile of crates shadowed in the corner.

(She's glad there's a small crate on top.)

Cady reaches for the crate when a thick arm slams past her and she jolts upright and spins around to face Harn, bumping her back against the rough stone wall as he leans forward toward her. "Now that we're alone..."

Oh God, he's going to kiss me!

His eyes narrow and she can see a glint of teeth. "Why don't you tell me what you're really thinking?"

Cady licks her lips and glances down. "Um... I thought first we could-"

"You have something to do with that intruder, don't you? Are there more of you?"

What.

"On the same day you arrive, someone is able to evade all the academy's defenses, then you both leave together? It doesn't take much to piece that together."

Oh God, he's going to kill me! He has the completely wrong idea about everything!

Cady blurts out "I know the intruder's name!" For a second she feels like the storm has passed but then Harn's mouth twists down and he leans in with his other side until his forearm is pressing against the wall alongside Cady and his face is so close their foreheads are almost touching. "It's Jean... Jorts... George-" Her eyes are squeezed tightly closed. Her heart is pounding. An involuntary gasp gives her lungs the air to belt out two more sounds.

"Jorma Gon!"

Cady timidly peeks her eyes open.

Harn hasn't moved. "I don't know that name."

"I ran into them in the hallway last night! I tried to chase them, but I lost them."

"Them?"

"Um..." Cady looks down at Harn's robe. "It was too dark to see what they looked like."

There's no way he'll believe me about the nametags!

Harn opens his mouth when an unfamiliar voice preempts him. "Eh? What's all the fuss in here?" Harn shifts his shoulder enough for Cady to see a pair of long green rabbit ears and a nametag. "Oh? This one of the new students?"

A Lepi! First introduced in one of the earliest Star Wars comic books, their existence predates most of the well-known aliens in the setting! Enja Izer? Then this must be the Jedi Librarian! And she's a bunnygirl! As expected of my first isekai experience!

Harn is still looking away and Cady thinks she might have an opening to escape but then his hard glance pins her back down.

"You were making so much noise, I had to come over and see what's happening." Enja grins at Harn and Cady. "Kinda cramped for a sparring session, innit?"

"If no one is in the vault, then no one is guarding the-"

"Ah! I had a better idea!" Enja lifts her arms and a blue cube floats into the air in front of her. "I figured this way whoever tried to take it won't know where it is!"

That has to be the holocron! Wait, is she saying Jorma Gon tried to steal the holocron last night?

"Um..." Cady leans against Harn's corded arm until Enja can see her.

Before Cady can react, Enja leans in and narrows her eyes. "Oh? I can see why you want this one all to yourself. Even I can tell she's cute for your species." Cady stands up and Enja grins. "She's turning red. What does that mean?"

"Jedi Master Librarian Enja Izer, this is Cady Omega." Harn turns away toward the stack of crates as he grips the bottom crate and lifts the entire stack. "Cady was just telling me the name of the intruder."

One of Enja's ears twitches as she eyes Cady. "Yeah?"

The pressure in Cady's chest releases as Harn moves away and she can finally speak. "J-Jorma Gon."

Enja scratches her cheek tuft. "Never heard it."

Should I tell them more? I can't tell if I'm digging myself into a deeper hole! Wait a second, withholding vital information out of a misplaced sense of hesitation is one of those tropes I hate! Yes! I need to tell them about Jorma Gon's Force points even if it gets me in trouble!

"You probably wouldn't believe me, but..." Cady steels herself and looks up at Harn and Enja. "They're more powerful than either of you." Cady glances between their nametags. "Maybe... not quite as powerful as both of you together?"

"I believe you." Harn's eyes are closed. "The presence I sensed was extremely dangerous." Cady gasps when his eyes open already looking at her. "The other students are probably wondering where you are."

I need to make Harn realize I'm not an enemy!

Cady sees Enja still smirking at her.

I need to keep up the pretense for why we're down here in the first place!

Before Harn can turn toward the stairwell, Cady steps alongside. "Can I help carry those?"

"Ha!" Ejna pops up on the other side of the crates. "Maybe she's a good match for you after all." Enja smirks at Cady and crinkles her nose. "Harn likes to use his muscles for everything, y'know."

Did she have to phrase it like that?!

Cady forces out a laugh and stands on her tip-toes to grab the top crate. "I volunteered to help Master Harn move these!" She tugs the small crate off the stack but it's heavier than she expects and she stumbles backward cradling it.

Is this solid metal? My arms are already shaking!

Cady lurches sideways as she trails up the stairs and into the commissary. "Wh... where..."

"On that table is fine." Harn lowers his stack of crates to the floor and Cady feels the thud in her feet.

How much did that weigh?!

She has to heave the crate onto the table and once she's rid of it she stoops forward panting. "What... what's in that?"

"Ration tanks."

Is this the horrible slop that Deline made me eat?

"I see you've already had some." Cady looks up at Harn and he closes his eyes. "It's not expensive, but I wouldn't mind something else every now and then."

Now I have a second reason to get some quality ingredients! They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, after all!

Cady takes another breath to slow her breathing and then stands up straight but Harn is standing in front of her so close she almost loses her footing. She looks up from his chest to his chin to his eyes as he gazes down at her. "Your feelings are obvious."

"Guh?"

Does he know I'm crushing on him?

"You don't seem to have anything to do with last night's guest." Harn crosses his arms without breaking eye contact. "But it's clear you wish to hide your own talent." She starts to stammer when Harn leans forward until Cady's head is tilted completely back and a strand of his hair brushes her cheek. "Perhaps I can draw it out of you and into the open."

We can absolutely do it right here in the commissary in front of everyone!

The sound of a door sliding open makes Cady squeak and she looks behind her as Deline hurries across the room toward them.

"Princess Cady!"

"I must go prepare for class." Harn walks toward the doorway and nods at Deline as she bows hurriedly on her way past him.

"Princess Cady!" Deline skids to a halt in front of the crates. "Everyone was worried when you didn't come with! Oberon found some old ruins!" Deline glances at the door as it closes behind Harn and looks back at Cady. "You and Master Harn didn't-"

"You can't rush these things!"

"-have a sparring match, did y... huh?"

"Um... forget it, what were you saying about ruins?"

Nice save, me!

Deline picks up the crate from the table and turns it over. "Oh, yum!"

How is she so strong?! She's wearing Mandalorian power armor, right?

She sets it back down with a thud and grins. "Come on, I told the others I'd come back as soon as I found you."

I wouldn't mind some alone time in my room right now...

Deline drags her through the doorway into the bright sun and Cady can't suppress a giggle of her own.

But I guess it's not good to be too much of an introvert!

The two of them race across the lawn to the forest edge and up the dirt trail where they slow to a walk. Cady looks up at the sunlight dappling through the canopy. Deline forges ahead and after a few minutes they hear someone laughing. Cady follows Deline off the path down into the trees. The two girls walk down the gentle slope into the deeper woods and then they step into a clearing. A group of square stone pillars on the far side lean crookedly in all directions. Past the pillars, a rock-walled ravine bends out of view around a corner.

Triss is the first to see them. "Cady!"

"Princess Sigis!" Lyra waves as she looks up. "Look at what Obi found!"

"Sigis is her home planet, not her family name." Oberon pokes the middle of his optics with one finger. "You really need to pay more attention to detail, Lyra."

Lyra tilts her head sideways and grins up at Oberon as she lunges herself into his chest. "You can handle the details and I'll just pay attention to you!"

"That's where the problem lies..." Oberon mutters. "Princess Omega, Jax was telling us about your shared encounter with pirates. Did you really reflect all their blaster bolts to disarm them while fighting in a smoke-filled room?"

"Um... that makes it sound a lot more impressive than it really was!" Cady holds up her palms and waves them back and forth. "Jax did most of the fighting."

"Are you a real princess?" Lyra's expression is somewhere between incredulous and hopeful.

I don't know anything about Cady Omega's life beyond the blurb I read on the datapad when I first woke up here! I need to give Lyra some vague noncommittal responses to make sure I don't trip myself up!

"I guess there are probably lots of princesses, huh?" Lyra pushes forward oblivious to Cady's lack of response. "I've never met a prince before. At least I don't think I have."

Triss giggles. "Maybe Jax could marry Cady and become a prince!"

(Cady just noticed Deline's face.)

Suddenly she's in murder mode! This is looking like a death flag for Triss!

"Yeah, Cady!" Lyra squeezes Oberon's arm gleefully. "Jax already likes you, right?"

This is a death flag for everybody!

You know, back on Sigis we have the saying, quiet on the streets but freak in the sheets! Um, the force is telling her that it totally applies to Oberon too!

But really since I don't think anyone really calling for the Oberon route might as well piss off the brocon instead of the mandalorian. Maybe we can get away with framing it as a general compliment to her brother's prowess kek

...and given that I might vote for our girl to become a Jax-kisser in the future might as well try to keep Deline inert for as long as possible.

Plus I'd rather Miss Brocon Jedi out wanting to kill us than the actual force using mandalorian.

Honestly even saying Cady has no feelings for this red headed man will sound like an admission of guilt to Deline right now rip

One thing no one has mentioned in Lyra vs Deline is that Deline would 1000% be right there fighting alongside her bestie if the lightsabers came out. The same cannot be said for Lyra "my brother is my whole world" Tarkin.

Lyra seems like the type who responds well to jokes! I have the perfect solution to redirect this conversation before we reach the nuclear PK death flag!

Cady grins at Lyra. "Don't you think Oberon's a better kisser?"

Lyra freezes on the spot and stammers "H-how would I know?" She gives Oberon a quick reflexive glance and frowns at Cady. "How would YOU know? You never kissed Obi!"

"Well, not yet anyway." Cady punctuates her teasing with a smirk at Oberon.

"If anyone's going to kiss Obi, it's..." Lyra bursts out her exclamation with a sob. "It's not going to be a princess!"

"I don't know about that." Oberon tilts his head and Cady sees herself reflected in his optics. "Becoming a prince might prove advantageous."

"Um-" Cady is the one stammering now.

Was he always this tall?

The sound of a sniffle makes Cady blink and break her gaze. Lyra's eyes are shiny with tears. "This is all your fault, you... you kisser!"

Cady looks down and mumbles "I've never kissed anybody."

Why did I tell them that?

She looks up at Oberon and Jax as they both awkwardly look around the edges of the clearing. Jax cautiously turns his eyes back to Cady but then glances away again. "We should keep walking. That path has to lead somewhere, right?"

"Let's see what's up that ravine!" Deline's armor glints as she walks past the edge of the shade with Jax following.

"What about afternoon class?" Triss looks up and shields her eyes at the midday sun.

Oberon taps his optics. "We still have an hour." He looks at Deline and Jax as they pass between two of the pillars. "Maybe we'll find more ruins."

Triss follows Jax and Deline past Oberon as he turns and steps into the sunlight.

This is my chance to smooth things over! It's just me and Lyra now!

"Um, Lyra-"

"I don't have anything to say to you!"

Shot down immediately!

Cady stands motionless as Lyra stomps up the ravine after Oberon.

I need to smooth things over with Lyra before this gets out of hand! Even if she seems harmless, she still has six times as many Force points!

The ravine twists back and forth, walls rising on both sides as the cliff edges get higher and higher. The hot sun is inescapable. Suddenly Cady hears a shriek. Her heart is pounding as she looks ahead and sprints around a corner.

She's expecting a monster, or maybe something human-shaped. One hand bounces against her jostling lightsaber hilt.

She's not expecting what she sees.

The ravine opens into an oasis of paradise. The other students are standing on the shore of a clear pool, their backs to Cady, but past them, the waterfall on the far side catches her attention. All along the cliff face beneath the torrent of water, the rock is glowing and sparkling with a rainbow of stars.

Oberon's impassive face is already turned toward the waterfall. "It appears this is a natural deposit of kyber crystals."

Every hardcore Star Wars fan knows that kyber crystals are the most important component of lightsabers! There must be hundreds of crystals behind that waterfall! Is that why the Jedi built the academy here on Amantes?

(She just noticed her status window.)

Even though I've been hiking and not resting, my Force points are refreshed! Does that mean I can come here whenever I need to regain my Force points?

"We still have an hour, right?" Lyra squats on the shore and scoops a handful of water through her fingers. "Let's go swimming!"

Triss protectively grabs the hems of her vest like a winter coat. "Won't our clothes get wet?"

Lyra springs to her feet and bumps against the other girl and giggles. "You don't need your clothes to swim!"

Is she really this casual about public nudity?!

"A swim would feel really good in this heat." Deline hooks one finger on her armored collar and tilts it away from her neck.

Is she really a Mandalorian?!

Triss clutches her vest and looks at the pool again. "I don't know if we should. What if we get in trouble?"

So innocent!

(Cady just realized they're all looking at her.)

How did I get put in charge?

"Um..."

Cady's bashful glance over her shoulder catches Jax and Oberon looking at the group of girls before they both quickly turn their heads away.

Yes! This is the kind of thing that makes an isekai experience worthwhile!

When she turns back to the other girls, Cady is grinning. "Tell Jax and Oberon to turn around!"

"You heard Princess Cady!" Deline stands with her fist on one jutting hip as she stares Jax and Oberon into compliance and they both slowly pivot around until their backs are to the water. "And no peeking!"

The sound of fabric dropping catches Cady's attention. Lyra kicks her boots onto the pile of her clothes and bounds into the water with a giggle. "Last one in has to kiss a bantha!"

She's already naked! At least she doesn't have to worry about drowning...

Cady flinches at the clank of metal on stone and realizes she was staring at Lyra. Deline's chestplate armor is lying at her feet. Deline stands up and grips the hem of her undershirt and rolls it upward over her head.

(Cady is still staring at Deline's abs.)

Musclegirl!

"Can- can someone help me?" Triss has managed to snag her tangled undershirt to one raised ankle behind her back, arms crossed above her head and bent backward like a bow, somehow exposing her back and front at the same time.

It's always the librarian-types!

Deline stops on her way to the water's edge to untether Triss from her clothing and the two girls shriek as they splash into the pond together.

"Are you girls all in the water yet?" Jax's foot shifts and the gravel crunching makes Cady's heart race.

Oberon tugs at the side of his jacket. "The sun isn't getting any cooler."

This is it! No more stalling!

(She's not moving at all.)

Cady turns her back to Oberon and Jax. "Um... just wait one second!"

I can't do it if I'm looking at them!

They're all panting by the time they reach the path they followed from the academy. Deline is in the lead. Behind her, Jax calls back "How much time do we have?"

Oberon reaches up and grabs his optics as he runs. "Two minutes."

Triss stumbles forward and gasps "We can't be late on our first day!"

Lyra is still trying to fasten her top as she jogs behind them. "It's not Obi's fault his optics got wet!"

"There it is!" Deline calls. "I can see the academy building!

Cady reaches the crest of the rise and passes between two of the tall stone blocks but then she sees Harn standing in the center of the stone ring and her legs go rubbery.

"In the future, I'll expect to begin at the appointed time." Harn folds his arms over his chest and glances at Cady. "I'm going to start by inspecting your lightsabers. After you're ready, pair up and I'll see your understanding of forms."

Cady is the last to have her lightsaber inspected. Harn passes Triss her lightsaber hilt and turns as Cady struggles to clip her lightsaber back to her belt.

(She couldn't decide whether to have it in her hands or on her belt.)

"It won't be of much use in that position." Harn's voice makes Cady bump into him and she takes a quick step back. Her hands are suddenly uncomfortably damp when she holds her lightsaber hilt out in front of her in both hands like an offering.

Harn turns her lightsaber hilt over and flicks it on, his gaze never leaving the hilt. The blade shrinks and vanishes and he hands it back to Cady.

"Now, show me your natural form."

This is my chance to impress him!

Cady takes a deep breath and clutches her lightsaber hilt tightly with both hands and then turns sideways and raises her arms.

(It still looks like she's holding a baseball bat.)

Harn watches for a moment as Cady sweats before he closes his eyes. "They did say your tutors were incompetent."

Too harsh!

She can't stifle a gasp as his immense hands fold around her own. "Don't squeeze the base so tightly. Use a relaxed grip."

Did he have to phrase it like that?!

"Your arms are shaking." Harn pivots himself to stand with Cady half-cradled inside his own stance. Her chest is pounding. Harn's palm is unexpectedly smooth as he repositions it along the back of Cady's hand. "Focus on your surroundings."

That's just making it worse!

(She just realized Harn isn't behind her anymore.)

"All your lightsabers seem to be soundly built. Begin sparring with your partner."

The sounds of lightsabers buzzing fills the air. Lyra and Deline have already paired with Oberon and Jax.

Triss holds up her own lightsaber hilt and hesitantly ignites it. "I don't use my lightsaber very often!"

Triss giggles and waves her lightsaber blade in front of her. "I don't even remember how to hold it!" She waves it again, then pivots and spins it like a parade baton. Her hand is suddenly surrounded by a whirring blue fan that cuts the air above her head and scrapes against the grass. She halts as quickly as she began with a stab straight forward in front of Cady's astonished face.

She's completely out of my league!

"Um..." Cady can't help glancing at Triss's motionless lightsaber blade. "Why don't we just practice our forms?"

Triss stands up and her lightsaber blade disappears. "Are you sure? I don't want to be a bad partner!"

"No, no, it's really fine!" Cady glances at Jax and Deline sparring on the far side of the ring. "I haven't used my lightsaber much lately either!"

Almost entirely the truth!

"Let's go over there where we have more room!" Triss giggles again as she looks back at Cady. "I'm so bad at using my lightsaber, I was afraid I might get hurt!"

"I should... um..." Cady's lightsaber is suddenly too heavy. "Warm up with some stretches!"

Triss holds up her lightsaber hilt to ignite it but pauses and looks at Cady. "Stretches?"

"You should always do some light stretches before physical exercise!" Cady makes a cheerful grin as she turns her waist side to side with her fists held in front of her chest.

(She's really just stalling.)

Triss joins in and copies Cady's improvised moves but then the other girl's infectious giggle catches Harn's attention and Cady freezes mid-stretch. "That's probably good enough."

Alright, this is no problem! I've already fought space pirates using my lightsaber! Even if I make a mistake, it's not like anyone will put this on the internet!

Next to her, Triss shouts "Hya!" and gives a two-handed overhead downward chop.

That would have sliced me in half!

Cady reluctantly ignites her own lightsaber and waves it back and forth until her shoulders are aching. Cady glances up just in time to see Triss do a combination backflip and midair strike. Cady is still staring when Triss lands and with another swing of Triss's lightsaber the two girls accidentally make eye contact.

"By the way, Cady..." Triss deactivates her lightsaber. "I shouldn't have joked about Jax marrying you. I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable."

That's what she's worried about?!

Cady shuts off her own lightsaber and reaches down to clip it to her belt. "It's fine, everybody was just being silly and having fun."

I should invite her to come shopping with us!

"Hey, after class, why don't you come shopping with me and Deline? I want to try making a meal for everyone."

"I'd love to come with!" Triss grins but then she shakes her head. "But I have to help Master Izer in the library after this class."

She's like the classic hardworking student with a part-time job!

Suddenly Triss's smile brightens again. "I can't wait to eat whatever you make!"

"I've seen enough for now." Harn's voice is louder than the clashing lightsabers and after a moment the lawn is silent. "Tomorrow's lesson will begin at the correct time." Cady notices Harn looking at her when he adds "In the future, wait until after class to go swimming." The other students look around with embarrassed downcast eyes.

(They all had wet hair at the beginning of class.)

"Princess Cady!" Deline's voice behind her makes Cady flinch as her attention is jolted away from Harn. "Jax didn't tell me your lightsaber was pink!"

Jax holds the back of his head with one hand. "I didn't think it was important..."

"I'll see you later!" Triss takes a step back away from the others and turns away but then she looks back and waves.

Cady waves and watches Triss hurry into the academy building. "Deline, I'm meeting someone in the plaza to go shopping for meal ingredients. Do you want to come with?"

"Of course!" Deline bounces ahead of Cady through the academy hallway and into the plaza. "Who are you meeting?"

Cady turns and looks across the empty plaza "His name is-"

"Ren Starbreaker!" Jax's hand is on his lightsaber. "What are you doing here?"

Cady and Deline both turn as Jax advances toward Ren at the edge of the plaza. Ren takes a step back but only to take a fighting stance. Cady holds up her hands and runs forward. "Wait, Jax, Ren, stop!"

Hearing his name makes Jax pause and look over his shoulder. "You know Ren?"

"Um..." Cady stumbles to a stop in front of the two boys. "We met last night. Ren offered to take me shopping."

"Nice to see you again, Princess." Ren grins at Cady and smiles at Deline. "This must be the beautiful friend you mentioned." He nods and looks up at her through his hair. "My name is Ren Starbreaker."

I never said she was beautiful! I mean, she is, but-

Cady clears her throat. "Ren, this is Deline Elaas."

Deline giggles in delight but then Jax positions himself between them. "I just remembered I need to go shopping too!"

Somehow this became a double date!

The four of them walk away from the academy and into town, Ren in the lead. He turns around and walks backward, grining at Jax hovering protectively behind the two girls. "So, Princess, what are you shopping for, anyway? A new crown?"

Deline claps her hands. "Princess Cady is making a meal!"

"But I don't know what to make." Cady looks up at the sky. "I don't know what kinds of ingredients people on Amantes use."

I's all riding on my Meal Preparation skill!

"I know a merchant who sells raw ingredients." Ren turns back around and points at a woman in an orange hood. "Zafron, this is Princess Cady Omega."

The woman looks up and frowns. "How long have you been out of jail?"

Ren coughs as Cady glances down at an open crate next to Zafron. Inside is a transparent canister filled with white grains.

Cady picks up the canister and a nametag "White Rice" appears.

It really is rice! And I see a lot of other traditional Japanese ingredients! As expected of my first isekai experience!

The counter between them is full by the time Cady finishes. Zafron's wary frown has become a happy smile. "That's 500 credits."

(She just remembered she doesn't have any credits.)

"Do you need help, Princess Cady?" Deline unclasps a pouch on her belt and takes out a fistful of coins. "I want to see what you'll make!"

"Yeah, uh..." Jax digs into his jacket seam. "To be honest, I'm looking forward to it."

Ren grins at Zafron. "How about giving us a deal since we're buying so much?"

"400 credits." The woman packs the last into the crate. "Anything else, your majesty?"

That sounded like an insult!

Cady glances at the mix of containers.

I still need some kind of meat.

She picks up a box and underneath a toothy green creature uncurls and flails around snarling and slashing inside the walls of the crate.

Jax and Deline snap their lightsabers on and ready the blades to stab it simultaneously but then they draw back and Jax's face leans forward. "Uh, Cady?"

Cady looks up from the squirming creature. "How much is that thing?"

"That siltgnash?" Zafron is frowning. "It just got into the canister somehow. You can have it if you really want it."

"They're a common pest on this planet." Jax's lightsaber is still held at the ready.

Cady grabs its tail and holds it up as it screeches and thrashes. "It's perfect!"

Deline wrinkles her nose. "You're not really going to eat that, are you?"

She's not one to talk!

Cady pokes the siltgnash's underside.

It's soft and fatty! My Food Preparation skill is telling me this will be delicious!

Zafron stuffs the siltgnash inside a container and quickly closes the lid. Cady can feel the thumping as it thrashes.

"You there, the pretty blonde girl!" A man near Zafron grins at Cady as she turns toward him. "I have just the thing for you!" He holds up a hair ornament and grins again. "It matches your outfit!"

Cady looks around at the rack of dresses surrounding the man and halts.

This is the location for the scene where Princess Cady goes on a first date with one of the capture targets! Depending on how high his affection level is, her date might buy her that hairpin. That's why it just happens to match my outfit!

She looks up at Jax and Ren.

Does this mean I'm on a date right now?

(She just noticed the stuffed bantha.)

A stuffed bantha! First seen in the original Star Wars movie and played by an actual elephant in costume, a toy-sized plushie bantha was first seen in the Star Wars Holiday Special, a 1978 made-for-television variety show. In L+L, it's a rare item that only randomly appears during the marketplace first date scene! I can't pass this up!

Cady is still looking downward when she hears Deline's voice. "Is there anything else you need, Princess Cady?"

They already scraped together enough credits to buy all these ingredients! I can't ask for this on top of everything else!

"Um..." Cady can't help glancing at the stuffed bantha one last time.

At least I got to see it on this playthrough!

"No, that's everything."

Deline has already found another stall to catch her interest. They wander through the marketplace and eventually turn down a side street and then Cady gets a chill of familiarity.

This is the alley where Jorma Gon bumped into Ren and Gonky last night!

Cady is looking at Ren when Deline skips forward a few steps and turns around to face them as they approach. "We should go swimming again sometime! That was fun!"

"Swimming, huh?" Ren grins from Deline to Cady.

Cady quickly turns her head away as her face reddens.

Deline looks up the alley and then slips her arm around Jax's sleeve. "Isn't the café nearby? We should go there before we go back to the academy!"

"Uh, you... you don't want to go to that place!" Jax hurries ahead in front of Deline. "How about we go out to the scrap fields instead? Never know what you'll find out there!"

That's right! Winda told me I should visit the café if I wanted to know about Ren!

"I love going to the scrap fields!" Deline giggles but then she stops. "But I don't have any of my blasters with me..."

She was serious about that!

Deline leans against Jax and grabs his arm with both hands. "Besides, the café is where Jax and I had our first date! My clan had been hired by planetary security to help with a warlord. That was my first time on Amantes. It was love at first sight, right, Jax?"

Jax looks away toward the alley wall. "Uh-"

Wait a second! Jax taking me to the café was what put Deline in murder mode the first time we met! Wouldn't Jax taking Deline to the café raise her affection for him?

Cady glances between Jax and Deline.

Maybe I can use this double date to my advantage and clear two flags at the same time! Plus, this means I won't have to go on a private café date with Jax!

She looks up at Jax when she hears him say her name.

"Cady?"

Isn't that exactly what I want?

Cady forces a smile. "Shouldn't we get our café assignment out of the way?"

Jax glances over his shoulder at Deline and nods. "I guess you're right." Deline claps her hands and skips ahead of the group. Jax leans toward Cady, catching her by surprise. "If we get into a battle, let me take the front."

As expected of the hero-type!

Deline stops in front of a door and beams at Cady and Jax as it slides open. Ren slinks further behind them but then Jax calls out to him. "Come on, Ren. I can't do this by myself."

Cady looks back at Ren as he follows them through the doorway. Inside Cady is treated to a view of the city from a wide open window as a white bipedal droid wearing a frilly black apron totters toward them.

"Welcome, honored guests. I am AV-3B3. Please sit wherever you desire. Miss Koe will attend to you."

It's a maid café!

A young woman with tomato-red skin looks up from the table she's scrubbing and Cady notices the nametag above her still-swaying bosom.

A Zeltron! One of the many near-human races invented for Star Wars tie-in media during the 1980s, they're typically presented as a race of hot-blooded hedonists and exhibitionists. I know L+L is rated T but isn't that neckline a bit much?

(She's just feeling inadequate.)

Cady's heart skips when Jax leans close and whispers in her ear. "That Zeltron was here when I found that datacard."

Koe smiles reflexively as she sees Cady walk in after Jax and Deline, but then the Zeltron's mouth sinks into a frown at the sight of Ren behind Cady. "Ren? I didn't know you were out of jail!" She looks from Ren to Cady and her frown deepens. "Who's this?"

"Um-" Ren clears his throat. "This is Cady. She's new in town, so I was just showing her around, and her friends wanted to come here."

She blinks at Cady and Koe's frown becomes a pained smile. "Well, you must be really special for Ren to bring you all the way over here!"

I don't think she has much to be jealous about!

Koe blinks again and turns away as one hand wipes her eyes. Her stomping across the café floor turns into a stumbling jog as she flees toward a doorway behind the bar counter. The droid blunders in front of her and Koe shouts "Out of the way, Ayvee!" as the droid bangs against the doorframe.

Ayvee turns toward Cady and her friends. "Miss Koe is also employed at the Calor Nightclub. Perhaps she left to-

"Koe, wait!" Ren sprints after Koe past the droid.

Ayvee raises its hands in protest but Ren is already through the doorway before Ayvee can turn to face him. The droid continues turning toward the doorway, but then sags and stands up straight again just as Cady pushes her way past.

I have to find out who secretly tried to have me killed! But more importantly, I have to increase my relationship with Ren to get that pet that only drops during his storyline!

Cady follows Ren through another still-open doorway and out into the late afternoon sun. She stops on the far side of the doorframe and steps back inside and peers around the edge as Ren catches up to Koe.

Didn't that droid say Koe also works at the Calor Nightclub? I just remembered there's an optional storyline involving the nightclub, but you need to have a special dress equipped in order to get past the bouncer. It's one of the presents the capture target can buy Cady during their dates, but since it's so expensive, your date needs to have a high affection. Now that I'm thinking about it, Princess Cady never actually pays for anything herself in L+L. All of her accessories and outfits are gifts from the capture targets and other NPCs. Weren't there some dresses for sale at the stall with the hairpin and stuffed bantha? I wonder how many credits it would cost to buy them myself.

"Koe!" Ren lunges toward Koe and grabs her arm. "Wait!"

She shakes him off and stomps as she sobs. "I can't believe you'd just abandon me for that human girl!"

"I didn't abandon you! I swear I'm going to get enough credits to buy out your contract."

"You'll never be able to pay it off before it's too late!"

"I'll figure something out." Ren glances back at Cady as she peeks at them from the corner of the doorway. "You know, Cady is a princess."

Caught in the act!

Cady awkwardly steps out into the alley and into line of sight of Koe's glare. "You're dumping me for a princess?"

We're not even dating!

"Um... it's not like that. We really aren't..." Cady can't help breaking eye contact with Koe to glance at Ren.

Koe tightens her grip around her crossed arms and frowns again. "Why did you follow us, anyway?"

I can't tell them I'm just doing all this because there's a chance of a rare pet drop! And Koe will get even more upset if I mention increasing Ren's affection. Was she even a character in L+L? It seems like she's filling the spot of the capture target's foil. I guess that means she's really someone Ren cares about. Normally you can't meet him until several months have passed in-game. Does that mean Koe would have already left Amantes by the time Princess Cady first meets Ren? Is that why Ren is such a standoffish character in L+L? Until now I've just been thinking of how to avoid my own death flags and maximize my comfort, but I can't just stand by while Koe and Ren get separated!

(She just realized they're still looking at her.)

"I wanted to help..."

Even if this started out as a game, these people are real and they care about each other! Yes! I know what I need to do now! I'm not just going to help Koe and Ren because of the rare pet drop! I'm going to do it because it's the right thing to do!

Cady nervously pokes the tips of her index fingers together. "I don't have any credits, though." Her smile brightens and she adds "But I have ingredients for a meal! You're invited to come with us!"

Koe turns her head and looks away, arms still crossed. "I have to go to my other job as soon as my shift is done here. But, um..." Koe looks away in the other direction. "I suppose I can get you on the guest list if I see you at the nightclub."

So tsundere!

"Princess Cady!" Deline and Jax walk into the mouth of the alley behind Cady.

The container holding the live siltgnash is shaking in Jax's arms. "That droid said the siltgnash was making too much noise."

Koe leans closer to the container and flinches back when the captive siltgnash thrashes. "Why do you have a siltgnash in a box?"

Cady beams at Koe. "We're going to eat it! Ren was a big help in getting the ingredients. Ren, you're coming with, right?"

"Of course he is!" Koe smirks at Ren. "You'll tell me how it tastes, right?"

Ren forces his grimace into a smile. "I don't really have a choice, do I?"

"Nope." Jax foists the container onto Ren. "Here, you don't need your arms free, right?"

Cady and Deline wave back at Koe as they walk down the alley. "She's cute, Ren!" Deline looks up at Ren and grins. "How long have you two been dating?"

"We're not exactly..." Ren shifts the container in his arms. "We've been friends since we were little."

"It seems like she has strong feelings for you."

Thank you, Deline!

"That's just how Zeltrons are."

He's in complete denial!

The academy comes into sight and Ren follows the others up the stone steps and into the wide hallway. Cady catches him looking up in awe and he quickly closes his mouth.

Wasn't the most common Ren route getting him enrolled at the Jedi Academy? Does he even know he has a Force point? I should definitely tell him, right? I just need to find a good time.

Ren glances at Cady as they walk down the hall. "Where are we taking this siltgnash anyway?"

(She just realized she's still looking at Ren.)

"Aaaah! Right here!" Cady jabs a finger at the commissary doorway.

Deline follows him in with the rest of the ingredients. "Princess Cady, what are you going to make with all this?"

For something like this, it's important to make a big presentation! This will be more exciting if no one sees it until the finished product is ready!

"That's a secret!" Cady shoos Deline and Ren out of the kitchen. "I'll bring it out when it's ready!"

Plus, if there are any weird effects from using my Meal Preparation skill like the ingredients instantly turning into a prepared meal, I don't want anyone else to see!

(She had to do all the work by hand.)

When Cady wipes her brow with one arm and finishes arranging everything, she hears more voices than she expected. Jax and Deline are waiting in the commissary, and Ren, as well as Triss, Fili, Harn, and the Tarkin Twins.

"Um..." Cady grins nervously at the crowd. "Thank you for coming? Please enjoy this meal from my home planet prepared with local ingredients. Siltgnash sushi!"

This is it! My isekai cooking debut!

"You eat it with these!" She holds up a pair of hand-carved chopsticks.

Oberon aims his optics at his plate. "This really is siltgnash."

Lyra pokes at a piece with one finger. "How did you cook this?"

"Um... actually, it's traditionally served raw."

Fili's voice wavers. "Raw siltgnash?"

Harn's chopsticks snap when he clenches his fist. "Poison is the weapon of cowards."

He's got the completely wrong idea again!

"I trust Princess Cady!" Deline fumbles with her chopsticks before finally giving up and using one as a skewer. She pops the entire piece into her mouth as everyone looks on.

Thank you, Deline!

Deline sits motionless for a few seconds, then slowly begins to chew and swallows it and then she looks up at everyone else and quickly begins shoveling the rest of her sushi into her mouth.

Cady looks at Harn and Fili just in time to see them simultaneously grimace and bite down, but then their eyes close and their faces relax in blissful happiness.

Harn is the first to speak. "This is..."

"So good!" Fili giggles.

"Is this really something they eat on your home planet, Princess?" Ren mumbles through a mouthful of sushi.

"I need another plate!" Lyra has already finished hers.

"These portions are quite small," Oberon agrees.

Triss has already mastered her chopsticks. "I had no idea you could make something so delicious from a siltgnash!"

"Uh, Cady?" Jax holds out his plate. Cady looks around and sees everyone else looking at her and they all beg in unison.

"IS THERE ANY MORE?"

"We should let Enja in on this." Fili takes another bite. "She'll be upset if she misses out."

"It should be fine." Harn eats another, then another. "Master Izer's padawan can bring her a portion."

"Triss, dear..." Fili scrapes the last bits off her plate. "Why don't you take some of this down to Master Izer? I'm sure she'll enjoy it as much as we did!"

Even with everyone asking for seconds, I still have just enough for one more serving!

Cady holds out the plate to Triss but then sees a flicker of unease in the other girl's expression. "It's fine if you don't like sushi! Lots of people on my home planet don't-"

"It's not that!" Triss smiles but then she glances away. "Cady, w-would you come with me down to the library?"

Is this an event?

"I'm sorry to ask, especially after you did so much work!" Triss covers her mouth with her fist. "It's just... for the past few days I've been jumping at shadows. Like there's something waiting to pounce on me."

Wasn't there something in L+L about this?

Suddenly Cady's eyes widen.

(The scene changes to an in-progress game of L+L.)

Near the beginning of the Oberon route, Princess Cady gets into a rivalry with Oberon and wants to use the Jedi Holocron to show him up, but the player finds out it's not accessible. Now that I think about it, there was a line in L+L about the librarian's padawan having been killed a day before the game's story begins. It was mentioned as part of the in-game justification for why the player can't acquire the holocron until several more flags are set. Is that why I didn't remember Triss being a character from L+L? Was she not in the game because she had already been killed? Does that mean that because I arrived a day earlier than Princess Cady would have arrived, I stopped Triss from dying when Jorma Gon was trying to steal the holocron? But someone already knew I was going to arrive a day ahead of schedule and told those pirates to attack the ship I woke up on...

"Sorry, I shouldn't bother you." Triss's voice jars Cady back to the present.

>I'll go with you!
>Why don't you let me take it to Master Izer?
>I don't think we should split up...
>>
>>6344939
>I'll go with you!
Gormet George can actually probably take Izer in a straight fight. And this party is the prime time for someone to sneak into the library to try the vaults.

He is carefully, though, so if he sees Cady and her crazy force (nametag) sense coming he might just skedaddle before she has a chance to sound the alarm. And Cady not coming back for ages if they have to fight might prompt the others to go check on her (Vs Triss not coming back in which case they might think she's caught up with Izer)

Cady looks around the commissary at everyone laughing and talking and shakes her head to clear her thoughts.

New goal: Keep Triss from being killed!

Cady grips the plate of sushi back from Triss. "I'll go with you!"

When they leave the commissary, the main hallway has grown dark now that the sun is down. The door slides shut and cuts off the voices and laughter, leaving the two girls alone in the silence as they hurry toward the stairwell.

A hiss of machinery makes Cady flinch. "I see what you mean."

I should tell everyone else about Jorma Gon, but I don't know how much I can explain by saying "The Force told me."

Triss leads Cady past the storeroom down an unlit hallway until they come to a doorway set into the rough stone wall. When the door slides open Enja looks up from the flickering blue hologram in front of the Jedi Holocron sitting on the table.

"Oh? Triss? And Princess Cady." Enja's nose crinkles as she sniffs. "Is that siltgnash?"

"Cady made it!"

"Ah! Is this one of the meals from your home planet?" Enja grips one chopstick in each hand like daggers and carefully lifts a piece of sushi up to her mouth. "Mmmm! Ish delishish!"

She didn't even hesitate to eat siltgnash!

Enja pushes the holocron across the table to the far edge and when she turns her back on the hologram of the old man he frowns and teeters from side to side trying to look over her shoulder. "Hey, what are you doing?"

"Eh." She maneuvers another piece halfway toward her mouth and leans in to bite it. "I want to enjoy this without looking at your ugly face!"

Isn't she being way too casual with that Jedi Holocron?!

(She just noticed its nametag.)

Oh? Master Millo doesn't have any Force points? I guess that's because he's a hologram recording of a Jedi Master's thoughts and not the actual Jedi Master.

"I haven't seen you before." The hologram glances at Enja and grins at Cady as his eyes roam up and down. "I wouldn't mind seeing more of you."

I'm being mentally undressed by a hologram!

"You look about as young as Triss. Maybe a little more filled in. I like girls with a little bit of-"

It's time for a redirect!

"Um... Master Millo?" Cady can't help folding her arms over her chest.

"Oh? I don't recall telling anyone here that my first name was Millo." The hologram glances up and down a few more times before Cady takes a nervous step sideways. "Very odd."

Keep steering the redirect!

"How can I increase my connection to the Force?"

The hologram looks at Triss. "I can teach you two girls something you can do to each other. I mean, do with each other."

Triss leans over the table above the holocron in front of Millo's bulging eyes. "Really?"

"Sure, it's, uh..." He glances at Cady and grins at Triss again. "It's a spiritual exercise that can only be performed by a pair of good-looking girls."

"That sounds fun!"

So innocent!

The hologram turns toward Cady. "You have a special connection to the Force."

It's so special that I can't explain it to anyone!

"Ask me again when we're alone sometime." The hologram glances at Enja as she sets the empty plate down and turns back toward them.

"Eh? What are you telling these two?" Ejna shakes her head. "Don't listen to this one." She looks back at Millo. "I don't think he's even a real Jedi Master. Probably sneaked into the holocron somehow."

Cady and Triss glance at one another and Triss says "I'll see you tomorrow, Master Izer!"

"Uh? Oh, right. Thank you for the food, Princess Cady!"

Everyone is waiting in the commissary. Fili is the first to speak. "Even though the raw siltgnash was a surprise, I think everyone is eager to try more meals from your home planet."

Lyra kneels on the table bench. "You should make breakfast tomorrow!"

(She used up all the ingredients making the sushi.)

"This meal required a lot of preparation." Oberon pokes the center of his optics with two fingers. "It would be easier for Princess Cady to prepare meals if the pantry was stocked with more ingredients."

Lyra stares at Oberon for a moment and then blinks and beams a smile. "I can do that!"

Thank you, Oberon!

(They spent another hour asking Cady about breakfast ideas.)

When Cady finally gets back to her room, she does a double-take at the small furry object standing in the center of the blanket.

It's the stuffed bantha from the marketplace! It's too adorable!

Cady snatches it up and squeezes it to her face too quickly for the nametag to fully appear.

Aaaah! I don't mind kissing this bantha! It's even better in person than in L+L! But how did it get here?

(She's still squeezing it against her face.)

Someone must have bought it for me! But doesn't that mean it's a d-d-d-

Cady lowers the stuffed bantha away from her face and swallows.

Date gift?!

"I wonder if it was Jax or Ren." She looks at the stuffed bantha and jumps when someone knocks on her door.

"Princess Cady? Are you still awake?" Deline's muffled voice follows the knocking.

Cady looks at the stuffed bantha again and then frantically looks around the room and settles for stuffing it under her blanket. "Coming!"

Lyra and Triss are waiting with her. "We're bored!" whines Lyra.

Deline nods. "We all want to do something but don't know what."

"Cady, you always have fun ideas!"

She blinks and turns away when she realizes she's starting to cry.

Having friends who want to hang out with me is something I never experienced in my past life! Is this seriously the happiest I've ever been before?

Cady wipes her eyes with the back of her arm and turns back toward the three girls smiling at her.

Yes! I'm going to use my L+L knowledge to protect everyone and destroy all the death flags! But first...

Cady steps out into the hallway and gropes at the doorframe panel with her hand behind her back until the door slides closed and then she grins at the other girls. "Who wants to go dancing?"

"Dancing?" Triss grips her vest. "You mean, in front of other people?"

Deline matches Cady's grin. "Are you talking about the nightclub?"

"They won't let you in unless you're a member." Lyra's hair bobs as she looks away. "They wouldn't even let me in."

Deline's knuckles bump against her hips as she stands triumphantly and beams at Cady. "That's where you're wrong!"

"Ren has a-" Cady glances at the floor. "A friend who works there."

Before anyone can respond, Lyra is already leaving. "Come on!"

"Wait for us!" Deline giggles.

Cady and Triss follow Deline with Lyra leading them away from the academy. As they walk toward a building Cady looks up the alley behind it.

Isn't this the place Ren was trying to break into?

As soon as the door slides open Cady hears the pulsating beat of loud music but then she realizes a tan-furred wolfman with bulging red eyes is glaring at her.

A Shistavanen! Even if he doesn't have any Force points, that's one of the "naturally dangerous" races! I guess he's the guard dog?

"This place is members only." His snout wrinkles as he looks at the other girls. "Come back when you're-"

"It's alright, Nazar." Koe bumps against his arm. "They're on the guest list."

Nazar crosses his arms and sniffs. "Alright. Now get back to work."

Koe flashes a quick smile at Cady and the other girls and disappears into the crowd. Lyra pushes her way through until they reach an empty spot.

Triss leans in and shouts "Is it always this loud?"

"Yeah!" Lyra squeals happily, but then she stops and looks at Deline. "What's wrong?"

Deline points toward a greasy-skinned slugman with two mouths at the edge of the crowd. "I think that Ithorian has a bounty on his head for smuggling!"

"No working!" Lyra looks over her shoulder as she dances by herself. "We're here to have fun!"

"What's his name?" Triss asks Deline. Cady answers before she realizes what she's doing.

"Nok Nujok."

"Are you sure?" Deline's eyes widen as Cady nods. "That's him!"

All four of them turn to where the Ithorian has already disappeared.

Lyra grabs Cady's arm. "Come on, you know how to dance, right?"

(She has no idea how to dance.)

An hour later, the four of them have found a padded booth to recuperate. Triss leans in and shouts "This is fun!" Deline and Lyra nod and grin but then Deline frowns. When Cady looks behind the back of their booth she sees Nok Nujok's nametag appear and disappear as he weaves through the crowd toward a door near the back of the room.

Deline puts her hands on the table and starts to stand up when Cady puts one hand on the other girl's arm.

"You three wait here. Um..." Cady is still watching Nok's nametag. "In case he tries to run."

Cady follows Nok's nametag through the crowd and when he glances back she quickly crouches down. The crowd fills in behind him and when Cady can finally see the Ithorian he's already walking through the doorway. She lunges between a dancing man and woman and slips through the doorway an instant before it slides closed with a loud clunk.

That door wasn't going to stop for me!

She glances up at the words in the corner of her vision.

A storeroom? It can't be that big, right? Where did Nok go?

Cady crouches down and waddles forward toward a stack of crates but then a buzzing noise behind her makes her shout and collide with the stack. As the crates tumble she looks behind her and sees a blocky green astromech droid with a single small optic staring at her.

Suddenly a shadow falls over her and Cady looks up and up at the enormous blue-green monster as his eye swivels down to meet her gaze.

"Isn't this a school night?" the monster rumbles. The nametag "SHEEGAN KLADD (Herglic) FP: 0" floats beneath his immense jaw.

Aaaah! He's enormous! Herglics are designed to resemble whales, but isn't he way too big? How did he even fit in this room?!

Cady looks down from Sheegan's glare and sees Nazar, Nok, and a tall spindly droid all gathered around a crate strewn with playing cards. She tries to back up but her legs bump against the green astromech behind her. The droid honks and buzzes and nudges her toward Sheegan and the others.

"Who let this kid in?" Sheegan's bulk completely blocks Cady's retreat. "She's interrupting my sabacc game."

Nazar's ears droop as he winces. "Sorry, boss. Koe said she was on the list. She came in with three other Human girls."

Sheegan's unblinking eye is still on Cady. "Fiver, is this kid on the list?"

The tall droid's head wobbles. "No."

Sheegan finally blinks. "Queasy, what's the penalty to Koe's contract for something like that?"

The green droid rotates its head toward Sheegan and burbles out a string of metallic tones.

"That much, huh?"

He's just pretending to understand it!

"You heard the droid." Sheegan's lower jaw unhinges into a grin as he leans over Cady. "Unless you're going to pay me the 4,000 credits instead."

Yes! That's what I've been waiting for! I'm being threatened by the crimelord!

Cady crosses her arms and looks up at them.

Fiver's head tilts and its optics settle into place. "Why does she look happy about this?"

Because...

(She really just looks smug.)

This means I made it onto the pet acquisition storyline!

Sheegan's teeth press into his lip. "What's it going to be, kid?"

Enough time to run down to jail and tattle to Jax's hot dad about where a bunch of notorious criminals are about to meet up in a week. Or just bring Deline over to the exchange and have her start blasting.

Even if she wins the sabacc game then she'll either have to fight her way out or they'll make up some other bullshit excuse to try to make her a slave too, and she's dead last in her class so provoking them without the girls as backup is a bad idea.

Now that I've gotten Sheegan mad at me, any changes to his affection shouldn't remove the pet acquisition flag. Earning that many credits seems like it would be really difficult, even if I got my friends to help me. Maybe there's a way I can get out of this altogether!

Cady glances at the sabacc cards on the crate.

Yes! If there's one thing these crime lord types love, it's a high-stakes bet!

Cady's eyes shift from the cards up to Sheegan and she grins. "How about a double-or-nothing sabacc game?"

For a few seconds the room is silent but then Sheegan starts to chuckle and a second later the others start to laugh. When Sheegan stops, the room goes silent again.

Too intense!

"Can you believe the nerves this kid has?" Sheegan's toothy grin stretches out and then Cady flinches when he looks at her again. "Take a seat." He eases his bulk down onto another crate. "Deal her in, Fiver."

The spindly droid wobbles its head and its optics rattle around in the sockets and then they focus on the cards strewn over the makeshift table. The droid's arms haltingly reach forward over the pile, but then it hunches forward and its hands become a blur. Fiver looks up at Cady as it shuffles. "This game will be played with Nar Shaddaa Changeup rules."

"Um..." Cady glances down at her cards.

I have no idea what these cards mean! In the Star Wars setting, sabacc is a card game played by characters when the plot calls for a gambling scene, but to avoid writers having to actually create a unique card game, sabacc has an infinite number of variable rules and the cards themselves are miniature display screens that change value during the game!

(She's still looking down at her cards.)

Am I even holding them the right direction?!

Fiver's head wobbles and it lays down two cards. "Dealer up."

Nazar glances at Nok. "Trade."

The Ithorian slides Nazar a card and Nazar slides him a card in exchange.

Sheegan slides a card toward Fiver and rumbles "Trade." The droid pushes a card back toward Sheegan and then all of them turn and glare at Cady.

This is definitely going to work!

She finally looks up from her cards.

Force Sense!

Cady blinks as Sheegan's cards turn red. When she looks at the others, only the droid's cards are green.

It works! My Force Sense ability is telling me to trade with Fiver!

Cady grins at the droid and slides it a card. "Trade!"

Fiver pushes a card back toward Cady and then Nok burps "Trade" at Nazar.

Fiver lays a card down and says "Keep" and then Nazar does the same. Sheegan tosses a card and then everyone is looking at Cady again. Cady glances down at her own cards and sees one of them glowing green.

This overpowered isekai cheat ability is too powerful! I'm basically just pressing A to skip through a cutscene!

Cady lays the glowing green card on the table and another card in her hand immediately turns green.

Is this really alright for a Jedi?

The two rounds repeat and then suddenly Fiver lays down all its cards and its head wobbles.

Did that droid just fold? Can you even fold in sabacc?

Sheegan rumbles "Get back to the club floor." Fiver rises up and clanks past them and then the remaining three lean inward toward Cady.

This should be making me feel tense but I can't lose because I can see if their cards are better or worse than mine!

By the fourth round, Sheegan is grinding his teeth as Cady picks him for trading again. "Sabacc always makes me hungry. I could go for somebody to eat right now. I mean, something."

I'm not into vore!

Nok and Nazar drop their cards in the same round and suddenly Cady is facing Sheegan alone.

"Come on, boss!"

"Get this kid!"

Cady smirks and glances down at her cards.

(She just realized none of their cards are glowing anymore.)

Force Sense!

Cady smiles up at Sheegan and holds her cards up to her face as she scowls.

Force Sense! Force Sense! Force Sense!

(She's still holding her cards up to her face.)

I'm dead! How am I ever going to pay off 8,000 credits?!

"Come on, kid." When she peeks over the top edge of her cards Sheegan is grinning at her. Cady swallows and looks at her cards again.

Alright! Even though I don't know what I'm doing, I'm the isekai protagonist! Yes! With this one final move I'll win the game!

Cady lays down a card and grins up at Sheegan. She glances at Nazar and Fiver and back at the cards and then up at Sheegan again.

I can't tell if I won or not!

The room is completely silent as Sheegan looms motionless over her.

His expression is impossible to read!

Sheegan finally sighs and drops his cards. "Queasy, cancel that 4,000 credit penalty."

(She's still grinning.)

Yes! I did it!

She peeks one eye open and looks up at Sheegan.

I feel like there's still a chance he might eat me anyway!

"Nazar, take this kid back to her friends."

"You got it, boss." Nazar stands up glaring at Cady. "Come on."

Cady starts to stand up but then she looks at Sheegan.

Was it really a good idea to beat a crime lord who can eat me in one bite? Maybe I should say something before I go!

"Um... Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Kladd."

"This kid knows her manners." Sheegan looks down at Nazar. "Go on."

Cady follows Nazar out of the storeroom and he sniffs once and then turns and pushes his way through the crowd.

Deline sees them and shouts "Princess Cady!"

"Cady!" Triss leans forward to be heard over the music. "Are you alright?"

Lyra pokes Cady's forehead. "You look exhausted!"

"Guh?"

(She just looked at her status window.)

Did I seriously use up all my Force points playing cards?! That explains why I couldn't use Force Sense during the last round. I'm definitely going to set a death flag if I run into Jorma Gon like this! But then again, I probably wouldn't last a second against them in a lightsaber fight anyway...

Cady makes a cheery grin and glances over her shoulder at Nazar. "We should probably leave..."

They didn't exactly kick me out, but I shouldn't press my luck!

"What happened in there?" Deline leans forward to be heard over the music. "Did you get in a fight?"

"No! It was just a sabacc game, but-"

How can I say this?

"-I learned some valuable information!"

The rare pet is almost mine!

"And anyway, we shouldn't impose on Koe, and, um... this is a school night!" Cady holds her grin as long as she can.

Once they're outside in the night air, Lyra bounces in front of the others and hops backward ahead of Cady. "Tell your friend thanks for getting us into the nightclub!"

"That was a good idea to go dancing," Deline agrees.

"Dancing in front of all those people wasn't as bad as I thought it would be." Triss is fidgeting with her vest. "It was kind of exciting..."

It's always the librarian-types!

The academy is quiet when they arrive home. Their chatter stops as they shortcut through the commissary and see Fili on the other side of the hallway door. "Oh, it's you girls. Jax, Oberon, and Ren all left together shortly after you did. I thought you might have all met up somewhere."

"Obi's not here?" Lyra's hair bobs as her head tilts and then she blushes and sprints up the hall toward the men's dormitories. "I have to go make his bed!"

She practically announced what she's going to do to his pillow! Am I the only one seeing this?

Cady waves at Triss and Deline as the door to her room slides open. When she steps inside she sees the lump under her blanket and gives a guilty glance toward the door as it closes behind her.

Eeee! I completely forgot about this!

She pulls out the stuffed bantha and nuzzles it as she rolls back and forth on her bed.

Too cute!

Exhaustion hits and her eyes half-close on their own as she climbs under the blanket. The stuffed bantha is cradled in both arms as she lies on her back.

With this, I'll be able to sleep soundly! I wonder what the boys are doing...

Suddenly her eyes open wide.

Is this the night of the group swimming scene?

(The scene changes to an in-progress game of L+L.)

It's an optional event that's easy to miss, where all the capture targets that Princess Cady has met at that point go swimming together at nighttime. There's a minigame where one of the capture targets can get a massive affection boost, but more importantly, for the entire duration of the scene, all the capture targets are shown using their rare "bath" portrait graphics!

"Well, I'm probably wrong about this being the night of the group swimming scene." Cady squeezes the stuffed bantha and closes her eyes.

(She stayed awake all night thinking about it.)

Deline isn't there to greet her when Cady steps out of her room into the empty hallway. As she hurries toward the classroom she can hear laughter inside. Deline, Triss, and Lyra are taking turns stacking sand-shapes atop one another while Oberon and Jax are huddled together on a bench as they examine Jax's dissected lightsaber.

"Princess Cady!" Deline looks up as the shapes collapse. "We were so nervous about this test that we all got up early to practice!"

Cady looks down at the sand spilling back into the pit.

I didn't practice Force Move at all!

Cady lowers herself onto the bench and Deline plops down next to her. Triss sits on Cady's other side and looks toward the closed door. "Master Izer said a new student would be arriving today."

Deline leans across Cady. "I heard he was rich!" As the two girls giggle, Cady frowns.

A new male student? Even with the series of events getting messed up like this, I don't think we could be at the point where the third capture target joins the academy. What other male students are there in L+L besides-

Cady sniffs the air and immediately regrets it, but then a shadow falls over her and she quakingly turns to look behind her and sees a greasy green roll of flab. A string of drool descends into her line of sight and she looks up at the source.

Yobbu the Hutt!

His fist-sized eyes roll down to leer at Cady and then he opens his mouth and the sigh produces a humid garbage stench.

Even though Yobbu is technically the fifth capture target, he's really the anti-capture target! Just having him in the same room with another capture targed lowers their affection rating! He's one of the recurring obstacles in L+L who's always trying to interfere!

A waifish green face peering from behind Yobbu's flab catches Cady's attention as a second nametag appears.

A Twi'lek! The classic counterpart to a Hutt! I don't remember Yobbu having a Twi'lek servant in L+L, though. He always appeared alone when he crashed Princess Cady's date scenes. Her name is Yun?

(She just realized Yobbu is still leering at her.)

"Me humpa blondee rumpa?" Yobbu licks his lips.

"Um..." Yun hurries into the open and bows. "Mighty Yobbu wishes to greet his beautiful fellow student, Princess Cady Omega of Sigis."

I'm pretty sure that's an inaccurate translation!

"Um... thank you?"

Cady glances at Yun's nametag again.

65 Force points? Is she really not a student here? If his servant has that many Force points, does Yobbu-

Cady squints.

He only has 3 Force points? Does this mean he won't be able to pass Master Cynto's test?

The door slides open and Fili claps her hands once as she glides through the doorway into the room. "Good morning, everyone! I can't wait to see how everyone does with their sand portraits!"

Lyra jumps up from the bench. "I'll go first!"

Cady watches as the other students make the sand rise up into grainy mannequin copies and then Fili bows at Yobbu. "Why don't we have our newest student go next? Yobbu?"

Yobbu bows solemnly and then slithers toward the sand pit in the center of the room. "Doona klumpa!"

Yun hurries after him and bows at his side. "Um... Mighty Yobbu will now create a sand portrait."

The sand begins to swirl and then it rises up into a perfect sculpture of Yobbu. Fili claps her hands.

"That's a wonderful sculpture, Yobbu!"

Yobbu belches. "Soopa Jedi!"

How did he do that with only 3 Force points?

(She just noticed his nametag.)

Did it seriously not cost him any Force points?! If he's that good at using the Force, what does he need Yun for?

Cady glances at Yun and does a double-take when she notices the new number on the nametag.

Yun is missing 5 Force points? Does that mean she made the sculpture of Yobbu? That's totally unfair! If I have to embarrass myself by making sand explode everywhere and failing the test, then so should Yobbu!

Fili claps her hands again. "Cady, you're the last one."

Cady looks from Yobbu and Yun to Fili and the sand pit and then looks back at the two newcomers.

"Master Cynto..." Cady smirks. "Are we allowed to have a partner?"

Yun's frightened gaze quickly darts away. Yobbu idly scratches his armpit.

Why does Yun look like she's the one who's going to get in trouble? Is Yun going to be punished if Yobbu gets busted for cheating? He's probably going to make her do something really degenerate and humiliating!

(She's still staring at Yun.)

Cady clears her throat. "I was just wondering, because-"

"They did say your tutors were incompetent." Fili crosses her arms and then uncrosses them and claps her hands as she smiles. "Right!" Fili grabs Cady's wrist and pivots to embrace her from behind with the wide V of her loose robe pressing against Cady's back. "We'll do it together!"

Did she have to phrase it like that?!

Cady cranes her neck to look behind her. "I didn't mean me!"

Fili tucks her chin at the base of her neck and whispers in her ear. "There's no shame in asking for help."

"I don't think this is helping!"

"Hmmm..." Fili lets go and crosses her arms again. "Perhaps one of the other students should help." Her eyes settle on Jax. "Jax, would you please help Cady with her sand portrait?"

How is she so bad at reading teenage social dynamics?!

Cady holds out both her palms. "I really don't think that's a good idea."

Fili claps and smiles. "On second thought, Yobbu-"

"Jax can help!"

Deline will understand when I tell her it was just to pass this test!

Fili guides Jax like a dance instructor. "Hold her here, and here." Cady squeezes her eyes tightly shut.

"Like this?" Jax asks from behind as he cups Cady's hands in his.

I can feel his muscles under his clothes! And why does he smell so good?!

Cady's eyes are still closed when Fili murmurs beside them. "That's just right. Now, both of you focus on the sand. Jax, give the sand a little stir. Cady, feel what Jax is doing."

Jax repositions himself, drawing his chest closer against Cady's back.

That's definitely not helping! Being held in his arms right now is... wait, am I actually feeling his connection to the Force? All of a sudden I feel like I can take over controlling the sand! Yes! This is just like the Duet mechanic in L+L that lets Princess Cady increase her Force abilities by fighting alonside a capture target based on their affection rating! The higher the capture target's affection rating, the more powerful Princess Cady's ability becomes. Isn't this power completely broken? I feel like I can lift everyone in the room along with the sand! It's like I have access to Jax's entire pool of Force points!

Cady opens her eyes.

Doesn't that mean his affection rating for me is really high?

Cady glances up at Jax and he grins down at her and then the sand pit explodes with a loud puff.

"Good job, everyone! No class tomorrow. Cady, please practice and you can try again in two days."

"Cady?" Triss peers through the settling grit as the door slides closed.

Outside the classroom, Cady leans against the wall and lets out the breath she was holding.

I don't think I can talk to anyone right now!

The door slides open next to her and Yobbu slithers out. Cady is already gone, sprinting through the commissary on the way to her room.

Her stomach gurgles when she sees the ration tank.

Am I seriously going to hide out while I eat my lunch?

(She took a tray of ration mush to her room.)

The midday break is almost over by the time she's finished pacing back in front of her door. She makes one more pass and then stops and takes a deep breath.

It was just a Force-training exercise! I'm sure Deline won't even remember it happened!

The other students are all outside when Cady steps through the back doorway of the academy building and into the bright afternoon sun. Deline is on the far side of the ring, her back to the others.

Oh God, is she planning on killing everyone?

Harn's rumbling voice draws everyone's attention. "Before we begin, I'd like to see something." He withdraws his lightsaber hilt from the fold of his robe and ignites the blue blade. "Yobbu, spar with me."

Yobbu nods at Harn and lazily waves one hand. Yun scurries around his bulk and unclasps a satchel and then she holds up a lightsaber hilt in front of Yobbu. He stares intently at the lightsaber hilt in Yun's hands and then it rises up into the air and the orange blade ignites as it rotates toward Harn.

"Oh? A ranged lightsaber style? Very interes-" Before Harn can finish, the orange blade whirls at him. Harn raises his own lightsaber just in time to block it but the strike drives his feet back. The orange lightsaber pivots and strikes at Harn from behind and he blocks it with a lunging overhead swing that makes him grunt. The other blade flips and swings down again at Harn's side, then his back again. This time he almost doesn't block it.

Harn shoves his heel into the ground and springs forward out from beneath the other lightsaber at Yobbu but the humming blade flies directly toward his head and Harn has to turn to block it. The next blow knocks him sideways and then the orange blade is floating in front of Yobbu again.

"I've seen enough." Harn lowers his lightsaber. "You are truly formidable."

Cady glances at Harn's nametag and her eyes widen.

He used 60 Force points and Yun only used 10? Is she some kind of lightsaber prodigy? Now that I think about it, there's a Twi'lek girl in L+L who almost always appears late in the game as an evil Force user. She's a walking death flag who always uses an insta-kill attack at the end of the fight. The game requires a party member to be sacrificed by blocking the attack in order to defeat her. Was her probability of appearing in L+L actually linked to Yobbu somehow?

Cady blinks and sees Yun is looking at her.

>I never got your name!
>Don't you think that's cheating?
>Maybe I should introduce you to Deline...
>>
>>6348381
>Don't you think that's cheating?
Cady's a princess, so maybe now we can play things off earlier as her being sheltered and out of touch with things rather than trying to out Yun's cover out of active malice.
>>
>>6348381
>”Hey can you help me out the same way you’re helping Yobbu?”

Not sure if Harn was holding back based on his expectations of a student but 6x efficiency is crazy, that’s an effective force point pool of 390. She might be on par with Jorma.
>>
>>6348518
Considering she's a sith in disguise she probably is on par with him. Maybe stronger considering she can apparently disguise her force signature well enough to pretend to be Yobbu infront of two jedi masters. (Unless one or both of them have figured out and are just keeping it to themselves Infront of the students. Think we really need to have another private session with Harn sooner rather than later)

Real question is, are her and Jorma working together or are they two separate factions both after the pervy holocron?
>>
>>6348381
>Don't you think that's cheating?

...Come on Cady her being evil would have been a bit helpful to know last update.

Number one is out because no point trying to be friends with her when she's evil and we're maybe the only one who can see through her ruse.

Number 3 is out because, if we introduce her to out friends, I can easily see Yun manipulating things so that Miss yandere or Lady brocon takes Cady out while she keeps her hands clean. Plus there's Triss and her death flag to consider.

I'm interested to see what she'll will do if we call her out, too. She'll probably pull out the submissive beaten slave girl act, but will she try to goad this righteous princess into helping her get Yobbu expelled. Assuming her that she's tagging along with Yobbu purely to get a ticket into the academy.

Also I didn't expect us to gotten that far with Jax. Guess keeping Deline from going too crazy on him counted for a lot of points?
And I guess sneaking the bantha into Cady's room would be far easier for a student that a petty criminal...

"Princess Omega?" Yun speaks before Cady can say anything. "Is there something you wish to say?"

"Um..." Cady watches Yobbu as the other students crowd around him, congratulating him on the lightsaber sparring.

I need to just come right out and tell her directly that I know what's going on! With all these death flags around, I can't afford to let anyone be scheming but me!

"I know you were the one fighting Master Harn just now. And you made that sand portrait for Yobbu earlier." Cady makes eye contact with Yun. "Don't you think that's cheating?"

Was that too direct?

Cady grins. "I mean, everyone should be working at their own pace, right?"

"Please do not think poorly of Mighty Yobbu, Princess Omega."

"You can call me Cady, Yu-Y-You... I never got your name."

"My name is Yun, Princess Cady." Yun gives a sincere-looking bow. "I have served the Lirilak Clan for some time."

"Um..." Cady glances at Yobbu and the others.

Interrogating her is more awkward than I thought it would be!

"Why did the two of you come here?"

"To find Mighty Yobbu a wife."

"A w-" Cady blinks and glances at Yobbu and then she whisper-hisses at Yun. "A wife?"

"Mighty Yobbu's father, the Great Soggo the Hutt, wishes for Mighty Yobbu to find a wife who's strong with the Force, in order to dominate the other Hutt clans." Yun's smile widens into a toothy grin. "And obviously, the wife won't want me hanging around the palace." Yun looks at Cady and smiles again. "If I can't find him a wife, I might even have to marry him!"

Is she seriously just here to play matchmaker for Yobbu? Although I guess I can't say I blame her if the alternative is marrying him! Wait, is that why she falls to the Dark Side of the Force near the end of L+L? Because she usually ends up having to marry Yobbu?

"This servant will do as Great Soggo commands and secure a suitable wife for Mighty Yobbu." Yun makes a slight bow. "Has this put you at ease, Princess Cady?"

Absolutely not!

"Don't worry about your test in Master Cynto's class." Yun gives Cady a happy smile. "I'll make sure you do it perfectly!"

Doesn't that mean she's just trying to make me look good for Yobbu?!

"I don't think there's any need to focus on me!" Cady glances at Yobbu. "And there's no way I could ever-"

"That's not true, Princess Cady. Even if you're not exactly marriage material, I'm sure there's still plenty to work with!"

Too direct!

"Wait, what if Yobbu himself became stronger with the Force?" Cady puts her hands on her hips triumphantly as the idea hits her. "Then you wouldn't need to go through with all this!"

Yun glances at Yobbu. "I think finding him a wife will be easier." She turns back to Cady and smiles again. "Now, shall we discuss your sand portrait?"

She's completely undeterred!

>I should tell Master Harn about this!
>Shouldn't you focus on helping Yobbu?
>We should probably make it a group project...
