Did I fall asleep?
She opens her eyes and turns her head. Is this a themed room? Her eyes go wide.Did someone at the con give me a date-rape drug and bring me to a room for weird role-playing? Oh, God, I hope it didn't happen when I was asleep! She lurches off the mattress, almost hitting her head, and looks around the small mostly-white room. Suddenly she stops and stares at a small table. Lying on top of a metal tablet is a flashlight-sized object that she immediately recognizes. She grabs it with both hands, then turns it over a few times and fumbles for the best way to hold it.(It's a lightsaber.)"It's so realistic!"(The scene changes to an image of Mark Hamill holding a lightsaber, a determined expression on his face.)The lightsaber is the iconic weapon of the Jedi, a noble order of warrior-monks in the Star Wars setting who use an invisible power called the Force to perform seemingly magical feats. A lightsaber is essentially a laser sword that can cut through almost anything. This lightsaber hilt looks like a high-quality replica movie prop. It's definitely not made of plastic. The familiar buzzing sound of a lightsaber activating is heard. This effect is amazing! It even sounds like the noise is coming from the blade!A knock on the door surprises her. There's another loud buzzing and suddenly there's an explosion of sparks and the table is sliced in half. The metal tablet tumbles to the floor and she almost drops the lightsaber before she finally manages to turn it off. "THIS IS A REAL LIGHTSABER!"She looks at the door and says "Be right there!" but then she looks back at the lightsaber hilt in her hands. "This is a real lightsaber?"Her hands are shaking and she squats down on the ground and carefully sets it on the floor as far away from her as she can reach. The knocking on the door is louder and whoever's on the other side is making muffled concerned noises. There's no handle or anywhere to grab so she starts to poke at the blinking panel next to the doorframe. Suddenly the door slides open and she gasps in surprise and stands up straight."Princess, are you alright?"
She sticks her head past the man and looks up and down the corridor. "Guh?"(She was expecting a convention center lobby.)The man looks at her and clears his throat. When she looks down she sees her hand on the man's shoulder and stares at it for a moment, then she yelps and jumps back and the man takes a quick step back into the hallway and salutes. "I just stopped by your cabin to report on our progress."Did he just call me "princess?"Now that she's looking at the man, there's a hologram in front of his chest. The words are out before she realizes she's speaking. "Toban Tol?""Oh!" The man's face lights up. "You remembered my name!"Can he not see that nametag? The man is nodding sagely. "They say the Jedi can know everything about someone just by looking at him!"He really can't see it! Is this one of those situations where an ordinary girl wakes up in another world as a beautiful princess with an overpowered cheat ability?!Toban's starting to look worried again. "Princess?"There's only one way to find out! Yes! I'm going to do it!"Um, where are we?"Toban straightens up. "We're about to exit hyperspace. We should be landing on Amantes within the hour."There's something in the upper range of her vision that moves into view as she notices it.Stalwart Loreek? That must be the name of this spaceship! So that shows the name of my current location? Another useful cheat ability, as expected of my first isekai experience!"If there's anything else I can..." Toban sees something and stops and she follows his gaze downward and behind her to the still-smoking chunk of tabletop lying on the floor.I should say something responsible!"Lightsaber practice!" She's giving him her best smile and standing with her arm out of view behind the doorframe.(She's trying to find the button that closes the door.)"Let me know when we're about to land!" Toban is about to say something but then the door slides closed in front of him. As soon as she's alone she collapses on the floor but then she looks at the lightsaber lying on the floor next to her and she leaps backward to the far wall. She sniffs and her nose wrinkles at the fumes from the charred metal and plastic. When she puts her hand against the floor there's a faint constant rumbling. This isn't a dream! I'm really on a spaceship! A real spaceship! The last thing I can remember was being at the Star Wars fan convention, but then...She looks at the door and then looks at the smoldering section of table and the lightsaber....I woke up as a Jedi princess?
That guy, Toban, he was definitely calling me a Jedi! And the lightsaber, the spaceship... There's no doubt about it. I really did get isekai'd into the Star Wars setting! And that means there's one thing I need to do right away! She nods and gives herself a short fist-pump.Yes!(This is the most determined she's ever looked.)I need to figure out which canon I'm in!(The scene changes to an image from the original Star Wars movie, then the Star Wars Holiday Special, joined by the cover of a Marvel Star Wars comic book, then next to it cover of the novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye, images from the Ewoks cartoon and made-for-television Ewoks movies, the West End Games and Wizards of the Coast role-playing books, the Kevin J. Anderson collections, and finally joined by an image from the movie The Force Awakens.)After the original Star Wars movie debuted in 1977, a flood of official supplementary material was created without the direct oversight of George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, and contradictory information soon began to appear. This led to everything licensed by his company Lucasfilm to be categorized into various levels of canon. The movies themselves were assigned the highest level, and other products such as comic books and role-playing games were assigned correspondingly lower levels in order of their perceived importance. However, in 2012, the Disney corporation purchased Lucasfilm, and reassigned all the preexisting canons to the "Legends" status separate from Disney's new movies and associated products. She looks at the door and then closes her eyes and puts her fingertips on her temples, deep in concentration.Toban said we were headed for the planet Amantes. Where have I heard that name before?Suddenly her eyes spring open.Wait a second! If this is an isekai situation, that means I must have a status window that shows my class and level and all my attributes! Maybe that will give me a clue!(Nothing happened.)She leaps to her feet and takes a deep breath and then shouts as loud as she can. "I demand what's owed to me as the protagonist!"(The status window just appeared.)"I knew it!" She jabs an accusatory finger at the glowing area in front of her and looks over the text.Cady Omega? That name sounds really familiar. Three different Force powers to start with? And...(She's looking at the bottom of the status window.)Is that seriously the only skill I get?!When Cady looks at the piece of table on the floor she notices the datapad and then she carefully walks in a circle around the lightsaber hilt and picks up the dark gray slate.A datapad is essentially a computer tablet, only more durable. It's typically used in Star Wars media when characters need to read information.(The words are written in Aurebesh.)"I can't read this!"
(The scene changes to the Aurabesh characters arranged in a grid, superimposed over an image of an X-Wing cockpit.)This is Aurebesh, an alphabet created for the Star Wars setting and often seen in the movies when the actors look at computer displays.(The Aurebesh characters changed into a familiar language.)Oh? I can read this! Another convenient isekai protagonist cheat ability! 'Princess Omega would make a competent addition to any organization...' Wait, is this a letter of recommendation? They're completely phoning it in! These are the kind of back-handed compliments you give someone when you're trying to get rid of them! The text flashes one screen at a time as she holds it closer and closer to her nose.I've been admitted to a Jedi academy on planet Amantes. Oh, I'm going to a Jedi academy?Cady lowers the datapad and looks around the room.(Her eyes just got wider.)"Love and Lightsabers!"(The scene changes to a small hotel room, recognizable by its mundane fixtures and the honking of automobiles in the distance.)How could I forget about that?(The scene changes to a title screen with the 'New Game' and 'Resume Game' options.)Love and Lightsabers, known to the fanbase as "L+L", is a Star Wars-themed otome game, where the player takes on the role of a beautiful Jedi princess and interacts with other Force users. The game officially launches next week, but advance copies were being sold at the con. Even though I had to stand in line the entire first day to get a copy, I started playing it as soon as I got back to my hotel room!(She didn't want to open it because she only bought one copy.)L+L is set during the High Republic, a vaguely-defined period of time prior to the Clone Wars era of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. The High Republic era was created for two reasons: to re-canonize certain parts of Lucasfilm's Old Republic setting, and to avoid canon conflicts with the eras depicted in the theatrical films. But that means I know about things like the forest moon of Endor from Return of the Jedi, even though its existence isn't widely known at this time! Another overpowered cheat ability!Cady is grinning.L+L takes place at a Jedi academy on a remote planet. Like most otome games, the player can meet and socialize with several other characters, and has a variety of endings depending on how you interact with the non-player characters. L+L is notorious for having a lot of death flags, and it's almost impossible to clear the game without anyone being killed. Even the player character, Princess Cady Omega, can easily die in a variety of horrible ways, making it one of the most difficult otome games ever!(It looks like she's still grinning but now she's gritting her teeth.)
If I'm on a spaceship going to Amantes, that means the events of the game haven't happened yet. Cady is going to the Jedi academy to learn how to use her Force abilities. Usually, a novice Force-user would be called a "padawan," and would be the follower of an more powerful member of the Jedi Order called a "Jedi Master." According to this datapad, Cady's parents were the rulers of Sigis but they both died when she was an infant. The planet's government wanted Cady to remain on her homeworld instead of being taken in by the Jedi Order, so they hired a series of supposedly Force-sensitive tutors, but some of them were frauds and none of them were much help. That explains why I don't have a Jedi Master of my own. Wow, this is a lot of lore that wasn't in the game intro. I suppose you would learn most of this over the course of the story during gameplay. I should make a point of reading all this in case I meet someone who knows Cady. It would look suspicious if I don't know this character's history well enough. I wonder if anyone else aboard this spaceship is attending the Jedi acada-She hears a muffled explosion and the floor and wall shudder, and then a second explosion shakes the room enough to knock her against the wall. The datapad goes sailing and the lightsaber rolls across the floor away from her and bounces under a chair. She squats down to retrieve it and falls over when the floor shakes again and as she's feeling around for the lightsaber someone starts knocking on her cabin door. She finally feels the lightsaber hilt and stands up to attach it to her belt.(She can't figure out how to attach it to her belt.)She pokes at the blinking panel of lights with the lightsaber hilt held in her other hand. "Yes?"The cabin door slides open and Toban grabs the doorframe when the ship shudders. "Princess! We're being boarded by pirates!" Behind him, the other passengers are screaming and frantically shoving their way down the hall. That's definitely a death flag! I should stay as far away as possible and let Toban two deal with the pirates. Or does that mean the pirates will kill him and then kill everyone else? Am I supposed to stop them myself? That's the choice the player would be expected to make, right?"Princess?"Wait a second, I can just run away, can't I?Cady looks at Tobin confidently. "Let's get to the escape pods!""The pirates will scoop us up before planetary security can get here." Toban glances down at the lightsaber hilt in Cady's hand. "If only we could hold them off for a few more minutes..."Aaaah! He's still looking at me! Okay, this is it! Yes! Time to be a real Jedi!Cady looks down and Toban takes a step back away from the doorway and then she steps out into the hall next to him, still looking downward. "I'll hold them back."(She's still looking downward.)Aaaah! Why did I volunteer?
Cady swallows and grips the lightsaber hilt tightly. "Protect the other passengers."Toban isn't convinced. "You can't take them all on by yourself!"Now's the perfect time to say something deep and profound!"I'm not alone." Cady activates her lightsaber. The pink glowing blade lights up in front of her face and she finally looks up. "The Force is with me."Nailed it! This guy is probably...(Toban seems less convinced than before.)Cady looks back down the hallway. "Get going!" She shifts her position to a fighting pose.(It sort of looks like she's trying to hit a baseball.)"Alright, good luck!" Toban is already running the other direction. As soon as he's gone, Cady's expression shifts to panic. "This is stupid, I don't know what I'm doing, I don't know how to fight with a lightsaber! I've never even held a sword before!" She takes a step forward. "This is stupid, this is stupid!" She takes another step forward and realizes she has her eyes closed and a terrified grimace. She opens her eyes and looks behind her at the empty hallway and then takes another step forward. An astromech droid whirs around the corner, making her shriek and leap on one leg. The droid honks and beeps at her and spins its dome head around as "RT-33 (Droid) FP: 0" glides past. She steps around the corner and immediately recognizes the blast door. There's a loud bang on the other side and she makes a short squeak. "I wish I didn't have to do this by myself!""Want some help?"This time Cady makes a full scream and whips her lightsaber around behind her like a baseball bat and hits a blue lightsaber before she realizes what she's doing. The young man on the other side of their sparking lightsabers grins and takes a step backward. "You must be the princess. I'm Jax.""Sorry! Sorry, sorry, sorry!" Cady fumbles to turn off the lightsaber. The blade waves around wildly when suddenly a large hand is on top of hers and another large hand cups her palms. The glowing pink blade disappears.Aaaah! Jax Ronan is one of the capture targets in L+L! Tall and handsome, with a red design theme and blue lightsaber, he's totally the "warrior" character! And he has 40 Force Points?! Is that amazing or am I just terrible? She looks up at Jax's face but he's just looking intently at her lightsaber. "This is an uncommon design."This is the closest I've ever been to a guy before but right now he's giving off a completely innocent and helpful vibe!(She's still staring at Jax.)Golden retriever energy!Jax looks up and the eye contact makes Cady gasp, but then he lets go of her hands and looks toward the blast doors. "We should compare designs after this."Aaaah! What is this awkward silence? I need to say something!>You can watch my lightsaber while we fight!>Let's just try to keep the blast doors closed.>I'll go check on the other passengers...
>>6336116>You can watch my lightsaber while we fight!Glory! Death! Bad ends!
>>6336116>You can watch my lightsaber while we fight!we are the prettiest bad bitch in a galaxy far far away
Rolled 4 (1d4)>>6336136>>6336146(May d4s be with you!)
"You can watch my lightsaber while we fight!"That's totally something a hero character would say!Cady re-ignites her lightsaber and the pink glowing blade springs up in front of her face as she holds it horizontally, poised to strike toward the blast doors as she grits her teeth.(She's mostly nervous because it's so close to her face.)She can't help glancing at Jax to see if he's appreciating her battle pose but when she does his expression changes and he shouts "Look out!"A panel next to the doorframe explodes and Cady squeaks in surprise as the blast doors bang open and smoke roils into the room, obscuring everything, and then a hail of glowing streaks fly out of the smoke in all directions. Jax's lightsaber blade twirls back and forth in a fan-shaped blur, knocking the blaster bolts away. One flies past Cady close enough to heat the skin on her shoulder.Aaaah! They're really shooting at us with blasters!(The scene changes to an image of Harrison Ford crouched behind a corner as he aims a modified vintage pistol at an unseen enemy.)A blaster is a type of firearm that shoots superheated clouds of gas called "bolts" with enough force to destroy metal. Jedi are supposed to be able to use their lightsabers to deflect blaster bolts, but... aaah! Now isn't the time for this!Cady opens her eyes and Jax glances through the encroaching smoke and gives a silent nod as he raises his own lightsaber.(She's too nervous to speak anyway.)The second round of blaster fire cuts holes in the smoke and then three familiar shapes appear bobbing up and down in front of the haze. Are those nametags?"Over there!" Cady shouts at Jax before she realizes what she's doing and the smoke lights up with glowing points all aiming toward the sound of her voice.Panic makes her fling her lightsaber around and terror keeps her hands tightly gripped around the hilt. Every time she peeks open one eye, the sparks and flashes along her lightsaber blade make her squeeze her eyes closed again. She swings the blade back and forth wildly, too terrified to do anything else. This is definitely a death flag!
"Princess!"She can hear Jax shouting but her life depends on swinging her lightsaber as much as she can. Suddenly a gust of air knocks against her side and she swings her lightsaber around trying to steady herself."Princess!"This time she opens her eyes and the lack of blaster explosions in front of her face jolts her into halting mid-swing. The smoke is pushed up to the far corners of the room. The owners of the nametags materialize in front of them in the center. At their feet are clumps of black smoking metal. No way, are those their blasters? That's impossible! There's a metallic click and then the tall gray bipedal droid's monotone voice declares "Life signs detected, Captain. Two organics.""I can see that for myself, Enkay!" The human huddled in the middle raises his hands and pushes back further as the tip of Cady's humming lightsaber blade almost slices his chest."I thought you said there would only be one kid with a lightsaber!"That's a Devaronian! My first meeting with an alien species! One of the most well-known aspects of the Star Wars setting is its wide variety of aliens! He looks a little too young to be a pirate! I don't know if he should really be calling me a kid! Is he even older than Cady?"Princess?" She realizes Jax is talking to her and she looks up, as the three pirates take another step back away from her pink lightsaber blade. "It seems like we won." When Jax raises his own lightsaber's blue blade toward the three disarmed pirates, they cluster tighter against one another. "Now, the question is, who did we beat?""I'll never talk!" The human man's eyes dart toward the droid. "Don't tell them anything, Enkay. Not even your model name."Cady waves her lightsaber blade toward him. "That's Mako Rake. And that's a Devaronian named Beldar Fazz. The droid is Five-El-En-Kay."The droid makes a click. "I was loyal to the end, Captain."The Devaronian's eyes widen when he hears his name. "They're not really Jedi, are they?""Mako?" Jax tilts his head at Cady and looks back across his lightsaber's blade at their captives. "Are you sure?"He's never going to believe any of this isekai stuff!"Um..." Cady glances down at the pirates' nametags. "That's what the Force is telling me?"Jax gives a satisfied nod. "I knew you were strong in the Force!"The adrenaline rushing through her veins has run its course. Her lightsaber blade dips toward the floor and she takes a step backward to steady herself.
I almost died! And I used up almost all of my Force points! Will I still be able to see my status window if I run out of Force points?"Princess?" Jax is looking at her when she lifts her head. "Are you alright?"(She just noticed Jax's nametag.)How does he still have so many Force points?!She flinches as the door slides open behind them. Toban's head peeks out from behind the doorframe. When he sees the wrecked blasters on the floor he stands up and clutches the blaster pistol in one hand as he feels his way forward, eyes locked on the pirates. "Princess! Did you..."That's right! I used my Force abilities to knock their blasters out of their hands without hurting them! I'm practically a Jedi Master! This should make you change your opinion about-"...did you get in Mister Ronan's way?"What."Thank you for saving us, Mister Ronan! I was so relieved when the captain told us you were aboard!" When Jax lowers his lightsaber and deactivates the blade, Toban steps into the room, holstering his own blaster as he stands up from his crouching scuttle. "Knowing you were here to help really calmed the passengers!"He's got his back to the pirates! He's completely at ease now that he sees Jax!"Cady and I both fought our hardest. Your captain was nice enough to agree to letting me secretly come aboard at your last port. I got a tip that someone might try to board this ship." Jax grins at Mako. "Looks like I caught more than I was expecting.""We were double-crossed!" Mako closes his mouth and sulks. "Taken down by a pair of kids...""By the way, how close are we to Amantes?" A look from Jax freezes the three captive pirates and Cady realizes they've slowly crept halfway toward the open blast doors."We should be landing soon." Toban is as oblivious as before. "Your father has mobilized an escort. They're already in sensor range.""Your father?" Cady blushes at blurting out the question."I guess you're not from this system." Jax flashes an embarrassed grin at Cady. "My father is the head of planetary security, so everyone around here knows me."Is he seriously also famous? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all, the noble son of the knight who serves the king is a classic background for a "warrior hero" like Jax!Toban is nodding happily. "Mister Ronan and his father are both very popular with the people of Amantes!"The door behind them slides open again and more men wearing the same familiar uniform as Toban hesitantly enter behind, their blasters drawn. As soon as they see Jax, their attention shifts from the pirates and their blasters droop as they excitedly crowd around him."Mister Ronan! I didn't think you were really aboard!""Mister Ronan! What are you doing after we land?"Or maybe they're more like local celebrities? One of the other guards notices Cady. "Mister Ronan, are you and this girl a couple?"We are not!
Toban raises his blaster and waves it at the pirates. "We'll take it from here, Mister Ronan." The other uniformed men lift up their own blasters toward the disarmed pirates. Toban dares a look over his shoulder at Jax and Cady. "I'm sorry to bother you, but would you mind taking Princess Omega back to her cabin?"Like baggage!"Princess Omega?" Jax clips his lightsaber hilt to his side and watches the guards press the pirates out through the door. He gestures at the doorway to Cady and when it slides closed after them, his attention turns back to her and then he drops to one knee in the hallway and bows his head.Aaah! He's even kneeling like a prince!"I guess I never formally introduced myself." Jax holds out his hand. "I'm Jax Ronan."Cady reflexively holds out her own shaking hand. "I'm, um..."What is this? Did I actually get hit by a blaster bolt? All of a sudden I can't feel my legs!Jax stands up. Cady's head barely comes up to his chest. He's still holding her hand. "Princess?"Cady squeaks out "Here!" and glances around the room and then looks at Jax's hand as it completely envelops hers. This feels like he's cheating somehow! She snatches her hand away and turns her back to Jax. "Princess Cady Omega of Sigis."Was that too formal? Her head inclines on its own and she looks at Jax from over her shoulder. "You... you can call me Cady."Jax gives her his hero grin. "Princess Cady, then.""Just... just Cady."I don't think I can handle him calling me Princess all the time. Or is that a breach of social etiquette? Is that going to make hims suspicious of me?Toban clears his throat behind Jax. "Mister Ronan, your father is waiting at the spaceport.""I guess I couldn't have kept this secret from him forever..." Jax guiltily holds one arm behind his head. "He's probably really going to let me have it."Even though Jax Ronan is one of the capture targets in L+L, his father is only briefly mentioned during one scene, and definitely doesn't appear in the story! If Cady never meets him in the game, does that mean that the sequence of events is different now? Is it because of something I did?Toban gives Cady a diplomatic bow. "Princess Omega, your things are being delivered to your residence.""Guh?"(She didn't realized they already landed.)"I'll show you to the academy when we're done. Come on, let's go!" Jax folds his arm around her and steers her through the crowd of passengers and down the exit ramp with his palm against her side. "Have you traveled to many planets?"Isn't he being way too handsy?!
Cady has to squint as they step out into the bright sunlight. The sky is the expected shade of blue, but then she sees the spaceport's enormous control tower. It didn't quite seem real inside the Stalwart Loreek because I was just inside hallways and rooms, but this really is a galaxy far, far away! Amantes is described in L+L as a remote planet in the Outer Rim, a relatively unpopulated and lawless backwater, but megastructures like this are a common sight on almost every planet in the Star Wars setting!"Pretty nice, isn't it?" Jax's grin is contagious. "The rest of Amantes is even nicer!""Jax." Something in the voice makes Cady tense up like she's getting lectured by a teacher. The arm around her side disappears as they both turn in unison. The man standing in front of them is a taller, more rugged version of Jax, and Cady instantly knows who she's looking at."Dad!"His name is Jett? The game just calls him Commander Ronan! And he doesn't have any Force Points? I suppose that's not too strange. After all, Star Wars stories are full of characters with Force abilities whose parents don't know anything about the Force. It's one of the main in-setting reasons why Force-sensitive children often leave their families to be raised by the Jedi Order. "That's a fine greeting after ignoring my orders and going off on your own. If events had gone otherwise, someone could have been injured." Jett turns his attention toward Cady and her face gets hot.Jax notices the man's attention move away from him and shifts to the other foot. "Dad... Father. This is-""Princess Cady Omega." He bows his head and looks at her from under the fringe of hair in front of his steely eyes. "I am Commander Ronan. I must apologize for not having an escort ready when you arrived at the edge of the system."Cady's eyes dart back and forth between the two and she holds up both hands and waves them frantically. "No, no, I'm sorry I caused so much trouble for you!Oh God, he's a DILF!"I wasn't expecting your ship to arrive until tomorrow..." Jett lifts his head back up and looks at Jax. "...and I wasn't expecting my son to be aboard. Even if he can claim success over those pirates.""You could hardly even call them pirates!" Jax's grin is so broad he's squinting. "Well, anyway, we should really be-"Jett's gaze falls on Cady again. "I'd like you to come with me to the guard post."I mean, mentally I'm older than Cady, but are we really ready for an age-gap relationship?"I should show Cady to her dormitory before it gets dark!" Jax is undeterred.Cady can't suppress a swallow when Jett Ronan's eyes look downward at her. "Princess Omega, if you would come with me.">I really should hurry to the Jedi academy!>I suppose I can spare a few minutes.>Maybe I'll stop by later...
>>6336647>I really should hurry to the Jedi academy!Sorry mustache man, but your son carried
