It's March 1945, you hear about a job in a kind of ‘secret city.’ You don't know what the hell these people are talking about, but it looks promising, even too good to be true. Still, you don't have much to lose after the Great War, so you take the opportunity. After going through a lot of paperwork and a few other things, in less than a week you're put on a ship with no name and no clear destination. They just told you, ‘It's in the middle of the sea.’Less than two weeks ago, you were a poor idiot living on the bare minimum, and now you're still a poor idiot, but now you're on a ship heading for ‘the city of the future’. You'd heard of its founder, Andrew Ryan, a rather unique man who was quite crazy about his ideals, which is nothing new in this world.A couple of shitty days go by. You weren't used to such long boat trips, but you forced yourself to get used to it. The food on the boat is shit, but at least it's better than whatever you could scavenge from the rubbish. One cold morning, you've lost track of time, sleeping in rooms the size of mouse holes, crammed in with a few other poor idiots like you, seeking a future in an uncertain city. A bell begins to ring, and the ship's crew start shouting announcements: "We've arrived!’ You look out the window and all you can see is sea as far as the eye can see. You run with the crowd to the upper deck. The crew continue to shout ‘we have arrived’. This is when you see it: an enormous lighthouse, a huge tower, an effigy in the middle of the gigantic and infinite ocean, a shining golden tower rising above the waves. A submarine appears out of nowhere from the darkness of the ocean, and the ship's officers make preparations to board the submarine.
Who will be the first to board the submarine? >Christine Kirsh - 23 years old - opera singer, you were quite well known in your country, but your career was cut short by the war and your growing fame quickly disappeared faster than you could have imagined. Now you are looking for a new place to start over. You lived protected by your parents, who were also opera singers. You are quite innocent and harmless in the face of the cruel world that afflicts you every day, but you still try to find your place in the world. You have a decent amount of money to your name. You could easily live on this for a few weeks, but it will burn through quickly for the lifestyle you are accustomed to. >Sullivan J. After your wife died during the birth of your second daughter, you now have an 8-year-old son and a baby girl barely a year old to take care of. Somehow you manage to get by day to day, and you have a great deal of street smarts from your years as a petty thief in your youth, so you can always go back to that life if something goes wrong. You have a small amount of money to your name, enough to feed yourself and your children for a few days, but you will have to stay within your means as much as possible. >Joshep Thomas Jhonson - 19 years old - a smart guy, you don't have a degree but you're very good with machines. You still have a bright and happy outlook on life despite what you went through in the war, losing your parents and living on the streets for most of your adolescence, but you still have that hopeful smile on your dirty face. You have nowhere to go and not a penny to your name.

one more vote , and ill choose . This is my first time doing this and the votes are pretty even, so one more and it's decided.

--------------Christine wins with 5 votes-------------Gently pushing the people around you, you reach the front and see the submarine in all its splendour, polished metal with a golden colour and full of delicately crafted details. As soon as the doors open, you enter, expecting something similar to the conditions on the ship, but reality hits you. The interior is beautiful, reminding you of the theatres where you used to perform. Soft music plays in the background and the smell of cinnamon rolls fills your nose. You quickly fix your travelling dress and your hair as best you can. For a woman like you, being in these conditions and in such a refined place would be a total crime, but you make an exception to your social convictions this time, carrying your suitcase where you have several dresses, some haute couture, make-up and some of your old sheet music, you enter the submarine. Followed by several more of the same unfortunate souls who have been with you on the ship, you walk in a refined manner, exploring the place with your eyes and taking a seat at one of the tables. When everyone is settled inside the ostentatious submarine, the hatches close with a loud metallic sound, signalling that there is no turning back. You can see through the window as you slowly submerge into the sea, as everything slowly becomes dark and fish swim around you. Several employees and managers of the submarine appear among the people, dressed in very refined suits and shiny black bow ties. The men give a presentation talking about ‘the city under the sea’ and here you finally learn the name of this prodigious place: ‘Rapture’. Several minutes pass as the managers talk about the city while waiters dressed in the finest suits and with the best manners serve the diners. Hot cinnamon rolls, luxurious dishes and expensive wines are served throughout the venue. ‘To conclude this presentation, a few words from the founder of Rapture!’ announces one of the managers. Slowly, a curtain is lowered , the lights go off and a film begins to play. I am Andrew Ryan and I'm here to ask you a question: "is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?" "no!" says the man in Washington it belongs to the poor "no!" says the man in the Vatican it belongs to God "no!" says the man in Moscow it belongs to everyone I rejected those answers instead I chose something different I chose the impossible I chose Rapture the curtain is raised, revealing the city of Rapture through the window. sitting where the artist would not be incense where a scientist would not be bound by Petty morality where great would not be constrained by the small and with the sweat of your brow Rapture , can become your city as well
The city is seen in all its splendour, lights and buildings shine all around you, a whole city under the sea, neon signs and advertisements of all kinds can be seen everywhere. It reminds you of your heyday, inviting you to lavish parties, stroll through high-class places, and spend a fortune in a single night. After the film ends, one of the managers says that they have four stops. Some have been given a place to go, while others can decide where to get off. You are one of those who can decide where to get off, so they give you a pamphlet with the four stops on the underground. > Station 1 - ‘Euterpes Theatre’ The description talks about one of the finest theatres in the city where only the most important people in the city perform. Tonight, Sander Cohen is presenting one of his new plays, and a buffet is open for new arrivals. > Station 2 - ‘Kilimanjaro Apartments’ The description talks about a mid-range apartment tower. They are not luxurious, but they are not that bad either. A good place to start in this city with basic comforts and amenities, the perfect place to start a brilliant career in business or the arts, just a few hours from downtown Rapture where everything is easily accessible.> Station 3 - ‘Fountaine Corporations’ The description refers to one of the fastest-growing companies in Rapture, where new research and future technologies are born. It is a perfect place to find work quickly, as they are always in need of men and women for all kinds of jobs. > Station 4 - ‘City Engine and Service Station’ There is no direct description of the place, but from the name you can imagine that it is where maintenance, physical labour and construction of the city are carried out.

------------Sorry for the delay, I went out to dinner with my grandmother.------------You get the attention of a waiter and tell him you want to get off at the first stop, the theatre.‘Of course, miss! I can see you like the arts and culture, good choice.’ The waiter takes your pamphlet and brings you your last meal on board the submarine. For a couple more minutes, you are entertained by the show put on by the staff, who announce the arrival at the first station. You and others are guided to the door, disembarking at Persephone station. The beauty of the place dazzles you: enormous golden columns, gigantic stained-glass windows that allow you to see the seabed, small, beautiful and delicate fountains, perfectly placed advertising that blends in with the surroundings, beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and a floor that looks like it is made of the finest marble money can buy. After you wake up from the dream created by this beautiful station, you hear music, an opera voice. You recognise it as a singer you used to imitate and are a big fan of her music. Will she be here in Rapture too? You let yourself be guided by the music, walking through corridors of beautiful construction and avant-garde architecture alongside people dressed in formal attire, designer dresses and shiny silk suits. You arrive at an enormous glass dome, lit by lights and decorated like a dream. You find yourself in front of the Euterpe Theatre. Its brilliance and pomp are something you have never seen before. Even the most high-end theatres you have performed in look like nickelodeons in comparison. On the billboard at the entrance, you see ‘The Beauty of Sleep’ by Sander Cohen, the premiere of his new play. The entrance to the theatre is full of distinguished people, all looking elegant. Your dirty travelling clothes look like rags compared to the clothes these people are wearing. The performance is about to begin in a few minutes. You still have time to get in, but it wouldn't be enough to change your clothes and do your make-up properly to fit in with this distinguished group.>Miss the beginning of the play - you don't really care about the play and would rather make a good impression on these people, looking like them and standing out so that they might talk to you more and better. >Watch the entire play - you don't care about your image or what the rest of them think of you, you want to see the play. It's very likely that these people will judge you and talk about you based on the way you're dressed. Maybe no one will even speak to you because you look so scruffy.> Get yourself halfway ready - you want to see the play but you don't want to look like a tramp either. You'll miss the preliminaries and a small part of the beginning, you'll look much better than you do now but not that much better. If you go in like this, they may talk to you but don't expect too much kindness.

You decide to miss the beginning, the play doesn't really interest you as much as your appearance. You run to the theatre door where the employee looks at you with a confident smile and perfect teeth. You talk to him for a few seconds and pay for a ticket (-50 dollars), trying to hide your image. You slip into the ladies' room where there are others getting ready, powdering their noses and generally looking beautiful in front of the mirror. You enter one of the stalls and begin to change. After a complete makeover, you now fit in here, looking beautiful with perfect make-up and hairstyle, along with a stunning dress. The theatre reception is practically empty, and you can hear the play in full swing in the main hall, so you quicken your pace a little. Even though you missed the beginning, the play touches your soul. This is pure art, demonstrating the skill of the actors and their creator, who, at the end of the play, takes a bow before the audience as the hall erupts in applause. ‘Damn, what talent!’ you say to yourself in your head. As you leave the hall, you follow the crowd walking towards another adjoining room, the buffet room. Upon entering, you notice that the place is quite segregated and divided by different classes of the city. Which tables should I approach? > Business tables - people with refined manners and haughty appearances are seated, consuming food that you recognise as being of very high quality. They talk and show off. You manage to hear some of their conversations where they talk about companies, shares, profits, etc.> Artistic tables - a group of tables are specially created with works of art, extravagant decorations and a unique style, even having works of art on display for sale in this small corner of the buffet. These people seem more relaxed, talkative and conversational, and you can hear them talking about paintings, some costs of living, artistic styles, inspirations, music, etc. > Brainiac tables - this group of tables near the windows is occupied by less refined people with a simpler and more casual style, but still maintaining the minimum standards for this place. They seem less adapted to social situations but talk a lot among themselves. You can hear some of their conversation and barely understand what they are talking about: science, numbers, chemistry, etc. > Workers' table - at the back of the buffet, you can see a group of somewhat simpler tables next to the door where countless waiters come out to serve all the diners in the room. You can see that they still meet the standards required to be present in this place. Most of the people at this table are middle-aged men, laughing and enjoying themselves as if they were in a bar drinking high-quality wine. They have robust, thick bodies with tired faces and hands that show signs of calluses.

>>6350075>>6350044>>6350030You approach the artists' table. As you get closer, you try to stand up straight and act cool, but inside you're quite nervous. You recognise some faces: singers, artists, actors, fashion designers and painters, all sharing champagne and eating as equals. Some people glance at you out of the corner of their eyes. You feel some men looking at you with curiosity, as you are a new face in this city. You keep trying to hold your chin up and maintain your posture, but no longer being the most brilliant person in the room leaves you feeling quite vulnerable. You approach one of the tables to relax and breathe. It seems like you are having a panic attack. You spot some chocolate toffees, your favourite, and slowly start eating one after another. You wash them down with a little sparkling champagne and concentrate, breathing and looking out of the window, accepting your reality. Hundreds of metres below sea level, in this miraculous city that seems like a dream, you are a new face, a small fly in the ointment, so you must pluck up your courage and face everything. You turn around with your confidence restored but still quite fragile, and you see people who seem to be the centre of attention. Who do you talk to first? >Ilona Várady, a veteran opera singer of Hungarian origin. You recognise her immediately by her bright smile and golden blonde hair. Despite being almost 60 years old, she is still as vibrant as a young girl. You know her because your parents know her personally, and it is likely that if you speak to her, she will recognise you, but it has been more than a decade since you last saw her in person.> Rafael Montoya Álvarez - Spanish painter, you have only seen him at presentations where your parents took you. His art style is quite unique and avant-garde with social themes. He is a fairly young man, barely 25 years old, with a rapid and somewhat scandalous career. >Étienne Moreau - French writer, you have never met him in person but you have corresponded with him by letter. He has written several plays for you and your parents as commissioned works. He is a very cultured and wise man. At 45, he is still in fairly good shape, but you can see the effects of surviving the war on him. > Sander Cohen - Sander Cohen himself, a man with a pompous and refined air but with a particular and humble style. You know about him and his plays but have never seen him in person or any of his works. It is clear that he is at the pinnacle of the arts in Rapture, as almost everyone revolves around him, his tastes and opinions, as if he were the sun of this solar system.

>>6350155>>6350173>>6350216>>6350288>>6350290You bravely approach Ilona's circle, but your courage slowly deflates, leaving you feeling more natural. The woman talks and smiles with another guest. ‘Good morning, Miss Ilona,’ you say, as if you were a little girl. A woman of her calibre deserves enormous respect. The woman turns quickly when she hears a familiar voice. She looks at you for a few moments and adjusts her glasses. ‘Christine Kirsh?’ she asks, her blue eyes widening as she realises who you are. ‘What are you doing down here?!’ she asks, quite astonished, with her characteristic accent. ‘I thought you were still with your parents,’ she says in a tone of surprise and honest concern. She saw you grow up and start your singing career, so you feel a small connection, as if she were your grandmother. ‘Uuhh... ehhh,’ your courage falters, but you swallow it down with pain. ‘Yes... I distanced myself from my parents after the war. I had some problems maintaining my career, and well, I tried to find my place elsewhere, exploring here and there, which didn't end so well,’ you say with complete honesty, revealing your vulnerability. Ilona notices it instantly. ‘Oh, my dear,’ she says in that maternal tone with a calm smile. ‘You'll be better off with me.’ She gives you a hug, and you feel her warmth against your body, a genuine affection you haven't felt in a long time. You just hug her back, and all your worries slowly fade away in this embrace. You have a wonderful time, chatting, discussing and enjoying the food together. She introduces you to some acquaintances and you meet Thomas K. Grishtell, a theatre director who is looking for people for his next play. He's not Cohen, but it's something. After the buffet, she takes you to her flat, using the Vatisphere transport to take you to Olympus Heights where she has her penthouse, a beautiful, perfectly furnished flat with delicate décor, sea salt crystal chandeliers, unique paintings hanging on the walls, but the place feels... empty. Even though everything is perfectly furnished, the tables, chairs, and decorations seem to have never been touched. There is a bar with a wall full of luxury liquors covered in a thin layer of dust. The seats look as if no one has ever sat in them. There are enormous bookshelves covered in dust.
‘Forgive the mess, my dear, I haven't had visitors in a long time.’ You can feel the sadness and regret in her words. ‘This way,’ she guides you through a door to another room, another apartment within the penthouse. this one clearly shows that she lives here, an open-plan concept with a fully equipped kitchen, a small dining-living room and next to it her bedroom with another door. The amenities of this small apartment are minimal, a record player, a television, a shelf with some well-used books of all kinds, a small table next to the central sofa with sheet music and song lyrics, but not much else. ‘Make yourself comfortable, my dear,’ she says, pointing to the extra door with a golden knob. When you open it, you see a guest room, a single bed and a small wardrobe. The room smells of storage combined with old perfume, showing that no one has been here in a long time. ‘Well, my dear, I'm going to rest. These social events exhaust me, you know? I'm not at an age for all this running around,’ she says, smiling and laughing a little, trying to deny the passing of the years on her body. ‘The fridge is full. You can cook something if you want. Make yourself comfortable. Make yourself at home,’ she says, retiring to her bedroom. What to do?>Rest for the day - End your first day in Rapture. >>6350324>Go out and explore the other apartments - you are in the richest area of Rapture. You know that only the wealthiest and most powerful live here, so why not go out for a walk and see who you meet?QM what are the themes or mood you're hoping to touch on with this quest? Will it become a survival horror, or have action elements, like the games? Or will this all take place well before things spin out of control, and instead be more like a slice of life in an exotic environment? Will we uncover some mystery, or conspiracy? Or is this about political intrigue and advancing our profile until we're at the upper echelons of power down here?
>>6350339I want to create a story set in the three stages of Rapture before the civil war, during it, and long after it, so it would be a fusion of slice of life (since I have the idea of having human drama and serious decisions that could end the quest prematurely) with survival horror, and if I can figure out how to add some action (I had the idea of doing something inspired by a mini-game from a mobile gacha game where you have a certain number of turns and/or resources to investigate a level or perform certain actions, but I still have to plan it well so that it is entertaining for everyone).
>>6350391Well at least we don't have to worry about getting turned into a Big Daddy. Adam addiction is gonna be a real bitch tho.

>>6350403yeah the idea of sullivan its he gonna become a Big Daddy and must track his daughter who was converted in a little sister and his son who become paranoid after taking too much adam .
>>6350406Damn I wish that had won admittedly becoming a Big Daddy would be horrorifying but being a Boss monster in Rapture would do absolute wonders for survival.
>>6350391I think because our character lacks a capacity for violence (for now anyways, there is Adam to consider and other technical wonders we are yet to discover), a good action sequence might revolve around a 'Poseidon' scenario where one of the structures is compromised and she has to work with a group of survivors to navigate the complex as it's buckling around them? More obstacle course than cage match but could be hype!
>>6350416Alas, as a grown woman, we lost the best powerups and aren't a man so no partial big daddy conversion either. Realistically Adam while powerful and a great equalizer will drive us insane and cause us to mutate losing our humanity over time. There are some very high tech toys in Rapture we could use and befriending one of the prototype Big Daddy's and helping him keep his little sister alive would work wonders. Turrets will be our friend big time if we can access them. Splicers are insane and losing their humanity. There aren't many normal humans left early on thanks to the chaos and dangers. Many people who previously avoided splicing were forced to do so for their own survival and thereby also became Splicers.Early on our best bet is becoming a spokesman for some company to help with sales and gain access to VIP privileges for protection. It is possible to survive in Rapture later on as a normal human but you need really kickass defenses around you to do so or be persuasive/influential enough that even Splicers leave you alone.Really the best plasmids we could use would be some of those mind control plasmids. No need to fully splice up when we can force the enemy to fight and die for us. That would minimize the impact of Adam and hopefully ensure we stay sane/human.
