GOD ACTIONSCatarinaUnit created (Mind giving me a name for the Unit, by the way?).Wheeled Vehicles developed.DrakatronWhile most Sharpclaw are disgusted by the mere thought of…ugh…edible plants, they comply with Star-Eyes’ (read: Drakatron’s) command, choosing the lowliest of the low, those without a hoard of either wealth, knowledge, or experience to tend these fields, so those of greater value than they might reap the rewards in the form of a greater abundance of meat. It’s a valuable lesson for these slackers, all the Sharpclaws agree (except, of course, those put to work). Agriculture developed. While some consider consuming such creatures to be a mark of an unworthy hunter, others scoff at this high-minded attitude. Protein is protein, whatever the source, and these insects serve all the better as a source of sustenance while one seeks to bring down larger, deadlier, meatier game. Thus, once properly cultivated, these creepy crawlies become a popular snack while on the hunt or out at sea, their small size coupled with the satisfying crunch of their shell under one’s teeth serving as a fine way to pass the time. Insect Farming developed.Ejpto’JsjtR.I.P.ErvenbloudYour energy now spread, however thinly, throughout the pyroclastic pools, you put the second part of your plan into motion. As one still-warm Magma Spawn’s remains are deposited into his pool of choice, his corporeal form slowly melting down and becoming one with the flow, his soul does not so easily slip into the hereafter, instead anchored, for the time being, within the flow of magma, suspended in dreamless sleep as several of his brethren already begin to join him in his slow, spiritual journey, ready for your project’s capstone. The Aether Flow (2/3) developed.Though it proves a challenge to ensure that each Crucoad produces uniform shells, a carefully curated diet of minerals necessary to produce a combination that maintains the same ratios of commonly seen but sufficiently valued minerals, the ubiquitousness of your people’s amphibian companions provides them with more than enough “minters”, so to speak, with the move away from slow, inconvenient, and occasionally incompatible bartering proving too tempting as the new standard of Crucoad shells begin to circulate. Currency developed.
HarbourPickaxe developed. The Northern Strider created.HuángHeliodos’ ability upgraded.Taking the infinitely small shards of divine flesh into themselves as they train to master its effects, these bold Disciples are fascinated to find, as they meditate, that they are able to resonate with the thorny nature surrounding them, losing themselves in the chaotic, sprawling web of life even in this desolate place. Unfortunately, a couple lose themselves for a little too long, never emerging from their meditation as their skin becomes coarse and bark-like, knobby pseudo-thorns beginning to sprout from what was once flesh, but those who do survive the experience emerge with an unparalleled understanding of nature, and how one might go with its flow. Bodily Cultivation developed.Though they unfortunately do little to, as the young masters say, “blind the eyes of the more wanton fairies”, these new shades do prove quite useful for protecting one’s eyes from the harsh glare of the desert sun. They even help to hide the tears of your sect’s bold young heroes when a jade beauty rejects their advances! Sunglasses developed.LaquraAlthough this great scavenger bird is no creature of the deep, your waters have suffused it for long enough that there is little distinction between the two, a fresh, cresting cascade of sea spray allowing you to bind the bird in place, its mind muddled and confused as your water invades it from both the inside and out. Korvur’s Obstinance is now 1/3.While a cephalopod’s siphon alone is hardly sufficient for any great act, his study of the design itself inspires something in your wizard, pinging against his semi-divine domain as he’s seized by a frenzy of experimentation and creation. Out the other side of this storm emerges a new creation, a pump capable of ejecting water with a speed incomparable to even a well-trained siphon, and in far, far greater quantities. Though how this invention will be used is yet to be seen, several possible utilizations are rather self-evident. Wonder Pumps developed.Though far less playful and far more predatory in nature than Godomoloke, there are a handful of similarities in the to be found between the behaviour of the titanic Primal and the much smaller, though still comparatively quite massive, Maltides, enough of a common thread for your people to be able to coexist with, and eventually, after several generations of adaptation to one another, cooperate with the great sea beasts, the cetaceans begrudgingly allowing several of your people to ride atop their backs as a means of protecting both the Granchpolpo from would-be predators and the Maltide from any smaller, less obtrusive parasites that might attempt to hitch a ride. Maltide Taming developed.
LaureliosThough this beast seems like a thoroughly unworthy wearer, in comparison to the deity that just rather unceremoniously tossed you at it, in light of his…somewhat more pliable than usual submission, you suppose some degree of cooperation in order. As you’re caught on the tip of one massive, verdant horn, you send out a pulse of mental will, the beast unable to even comprehend what is happening before its underdeveloped little ego is utterly crushed, the arthropodic shell emptied of will and animus by the weight of eons as you assume direct control. Ōkabuto converted. Wizard gained. What begins, at first, as a far more banal act of record keeping becomes a far more devout experience as the aftereffects of your act of dominance to subdue the beast ripple through the bond you share with the Shades, a scroll recording the history of this civilization of half-forgotten shades warping into an almost fantastical tale, recollecting the great acts of the Crown and its wielder in exquisite, flowery detail. Fascinated by the way the piece of literature sparks memories already half-faded by the passing of centuries, they take to regularly reading and rereading it, searing the words into their minds as a means by which they might recall, even if that memory is only in service to the Crown. Scripture developed.Such is this scripture’s popularity, and the excellence of its praise of the Crown (and by extension royalty, through the conduit that is its wearer) that it is adopted by those devoted that built the blessed temple, with several copies penned and distributed throughout the small building and its clergy, and a couple of choice passages even written in bold scripture and hung onto the walls, or artistically represented in simplistic, but painstakingly made, frescoes. Temple Decorations developed.LithicWhile you rest and recline, unaware of and disinterested by the world around you for the time being, your people begin to further experiment with the distantly familiar material, this time utilizing them in conjunction with a powdery red mineral found within the depths of the mountains to create a contained, sustained loop, capable of maintaining a charge for several hours at a time. A fascinating discovery, though how they might use this newfound energy storage is yet to be seen…Stone Battery developed.
LysIts mind already enthralled by your light, and its body exhausted by the long march and its attempts to fell the sturdiest of your children, you have little difficulty shining a more comforting light into the deepest recesses of the great arthropod’s shell, filling its simplistic, bestial mind with thoughts of the warmth, comfort, and safety that will surely be brought about by subservience. Thus cowed, the many-legged Primal scuttles over, coiling around the foot of your shining mount as it basks in your light and awaits your command. Nedrasz converted. Wizard gained.Though at first it is not the most elaborately laid plan, or practical one, coming from your whimsical, musical people, a plan of some sort is certainly better than no plan at all, and as the generations pass and the war between beast and protector is forgotten, some Liten, taking it as more of a game than anything, begin to refine the plan, drilling and practicing with it to see who among them can best escape. Not exactly the intended effect, admittedly, but a convenient way to practice, nonetheless.Others, less afraid and more awed by the great arthropod’s subjugation, act with a new regard for their god and the protection she provides, their small shrines and daily offerings a small, yet honest expression of their devotion and faith. These specialized hymns of praise, too, are pleasing to the ear, and seem to better carry to your own (?) than they have any right to, considering the distance involved. Admittedly this leads to several more brained-by-a-spiny-tree-branch-related accidents, but such is the price of progress. Saddlemaking developed.Though this new breed of Greater Thoride shows a passion for disemboweling that seems to unsettle even their less lean, less mean kin, their agility is undeniable, navigating the bramble forests and sands with a speed and alacrity that truly belies their size, allowing them and their riders to close the distance in a single, visceral instant as the unfortunate soul finds their vision filled with teeth, claws, and spears. Longstrider Thoride created. (You already shared Glassworking with Huáng, so I’ll let you pick another.)Xenoq(OOP will process this later.)
Ͼ-ArkatassusThough it writhes and struggles as it’s dragged up into your disk-like body, it’s not long before this first Valbat, the genesis of your new creation, is put under, ready for you to begin making the alterations this kernel of power pulsating within your core seems to demand. Though these ray-like creatures are a biological marvel…they can be better. You can rebuild them. You have the technology. Calling upon the expertise of Ͼ-Sektek, you begin to modify its form, preparing it for the strains its more…esoteric modifications will put it under. Its rubbery skin is replaced with a semi-biological synthetic, remaining just as pliable yet several times more durable, with the capacity to harden in response to several different types of trauma. Its cartilage, too, is replaced, a lightweight alloy of Sektek’s own creation supporting a new, larger frame, sculpted through the injection of dozens of growth accelerants. As the nanites subsume its flesh, replacing it with an equivalent more compatible with its new skin and bones, you judge the beast is finally ready for its finishing touches. Peeling back the synthetic skin and flesh, a manipulator carries a sparking, pulsating organ, thrumming with barely contained energy. It had taken dozens of hours of trial and error, finding the perfect ratio of divine power and mortal flesh to imbue the most potent effects without causing the subject to spontaneously combust under the strain. As the new organ is wired in, you wait, despite your lack of true biological functions, with bated breath, before a wave of relief washes through you as the newly created leviathan thrashes to life, several manipulators snapping and warping as the chamber struggles to contain the powerful new organism’s rampage before you unceremoniously open up the door beneath it, the startled ray plummeting several meters before it catches itself, zipping away with a speed that even you cannot hope to match. Voidrays created. While you continue the delicate work of modifying your Valbat test subject, the Palladion Sauria, now protected by their new stone home, begin to use their cacti for other purposes beyond housing and aesthetics, with several inserting simplistic spigots with which to harvest the rich, nutrient-dense sap. Bombacto Sap Tapping developed.

>>6355494>Ervenbloud moves to 4,13The connection is weak but what matters most to Ervenbloud is that it still holds despite how far north the magma God has travelled. As his cardiac form continued to beat, he waited for the half second between releases of magma when his body relaxed. In that moment he pulled all the energy back into himself. As an epoch’s worth of souls filled his form the God worried he might burst. Yet while his stone flesh strained against the influx of souls it didn't shatter. Once the Molten Lord was able to compose himself, he released the energy back into the magma as he contracted. Repeating this action with every beat Ervenbloud acted as the heart of a soul circulatory system. He felt the emotions of every soul as they awakened within him. In death they had become one with him just as they had hoped. Still, just in case any desired to leave he allowed an escape. Any that wished to leave could choose to let their souls be carried away by the magma tides he produced and be reborn.>Finish developing The Aether FlowWithin the Molten Provenance the council had noticed that their population was nearing the limits of what the tunnels could hold. If one does not understand the peril one cannot fear it properly. If one does not fear, one cannot respect it. The tree with the golden flowers stands alone in a glade. “Long ago, a kikka brought tsss the bringer of stabbing a gift. It was a branch from a distant land, a strange branch with golden leaves. In their wisdom tsss looked upon the branch and saw not what it was, but what it could be, and cast it far away into these very forests.”Doke’s son listened raptly, for his father rarely spoke so many words in a month. A little thoride wandered into the glade, approaching the tree, where a tiny heap of spoiled peaches sat. Doke stared at the tree, never looking away.“Years later these trees grew. They are strange trees, for their wood made into weapons seeks weakness and life, the heart, the eyes, the throat.” Doke’s hand touches each in turn. “Look away from the tree for a moment.”It is only a moment, but when their gaze returns to the tree it is several paces closer. The process was a long one requiring chemical therapy and conditioning on both the ATP and the section of the wall it would be inserted into, guided by Makrópnoos' Foresight, for both of the different Shifting Wood species to start coexisting without killing each other. The effect of this is that certain sections of the walls have less hardening coating to allow them to stab everything in front of them when poked in a certain radius. This does mean that it's not necessary to apply the ATP to every inch of the wall and only insert it in roughly spherical areas on it.

Similar to the tents, the people of the Glade live in.Transporting them by trying ropes around them, or even nets, beasts of burden drag them where they are needed, even more easily if the rocks are placed on specially designed sleds.Yet, there remains one issue. They are still pretty unwieldy. So, innovating on the design of the pickaxe, a range of tools to change the nature of the rock are devised, Comminutionalism remaining an important part of society. MakrópnoosThough it still falls well short of the stabbiness of a certain god who shall not be named’s creations, for repelling your average predator that might otherwise attempt to scale a log wall to see what, exactly, lies inside, these thorns prove a more than adequate deterrence, warning off many would-be predators and marauders the moment they lay eyes on the already towering, imposing palisades of living wood and the reinforced stone foundations upon which they rest. Arboreal Thorn Paste developed.Of course, to actually reach such a point takes a great deal of trial and error, the living, semi-sapient wood proving less than pliant when faced with the idea of having this strange foreign invader adhered to its flesh. It deserves more! To be sharper, like no one (except you) ever was! Thus, you seek to alter it. And what better way to do that than make it sharper? So it is. Though this new strain of Sablewood that begins to quickly ensconce the tssslands looks no different from its older, less stabby counterpart, as a hide-armoured Kikka discovers when he stumbles in a thicket and finds himself impaled in a dozen places where his armour might once have protected him against the formerly familiar plant, that unaltered appearance is a detriment to every other unfortunate creature well-used to the plant’s older levels of stabbiness. Ssstabbier Sablewood.Though this even sharper wood seems to resist even the heretical “treatment” methods of the Kikka, at least one aspect of its improvement has been a greater degree of flexibility than its ancient counterpart, as one Kikka hunter discovers while out and about with his young. A small population of ogres, those that were outside of the village when Xenoq arrived to implement his non-consensual emigration plans, remain blissfully unaware of the titanic forces of nature clashing leagues away, eking out a simplistic life in their suddenly much more spacious, still rather ramshackle village, idyllically whiling away their days bashing each other and any wildlife with too short a stride to outrun the ogres when their ever-present hunger pangs become overwhelming. The pastoral scene, however, is interrupted by a distant rumbling. Well, another distant rumbling, aside from the faint, ever-present quaking as two monstrosities battle for dominance to the North. It takes this rumble, however, mere moments to grow in volume, drowning out all other sounds as the ogres stare up in confused, helpless awe at a massive shadow, the sun blotted out for a moment before the front hoof of an impossibly massive boar descends upon the village, reducing all but a few buildings on the outskirts to splinters and the dumbly staring ogres to something less than paste before the Primal vanishes as quickly as it came in the opposite direction, a faint, tinny voice the only thing that seems to echo, against all odds and known laws of science, in its wake.“…ssssSSSLOW DOWN YOU SIMPLISTIC SWINEEEeeee…!”
Hanging on for dear life, dozens of scalpels, manipulators and other tools desperately attempt to both complete their work rewiring the porcine brain and anchor their originator in place as Xenoq lets out a string of profanities, bouncing and jostling as he desperately clings on to the bristly red fur and contemplates simply lobotomizing the overgrown side of pork. He’s so very close now, however, and his greed wins out over his irritation as he, with another grumbled stream of expletives, tightens his grip, redirecting the lion’s share of his mental effort into finishing the thoroughly unsanitary surgery as quickly as possible. As a massive sea of trees comes into view of the pair, the feverishly focused scientist’s concentration finally pays off as one last nerve cord is snipped. Fortunately, several hundred meters shy of the treeline, the Primal abruptly plants its hooves, slowly braking as it battles against its own momentum. Unfortunately, Xenoq finds that his equipment does, indeed, have a stress-testing limit, the sudden stop catapulting the scientist forward as the manipulators and mechadendrites holding him fast groan, shriek, and quickly give up the ghost, dragged along behind as they futilely clutch bristly clumps of fur. The impact is as violent as it is quick, silver-and-maroon armour dented, distended and in some places torn off as Xenoq smashes through dozens of trees before finally making a not so happy landing, accompanied by a sizeable plume of kicked-up dirt and sod. After several moments of tense silence, Boarbarosso completely still for the entirety, the armoured figure emerges from the slowly settling cloud of dust, shaking off yet another layer of grime before stumbling“Well, that’s not right.”Looking down in confusion, the scientist winces behind his mask as he realizes that his left foot is facing the wrong direction, the force of the crash violently wrenching the leg around at a 180-degree angle within his armour. Bending over, the divinity lets out an agonized hiss as he forcibly rotates his leg back around with a wet squelch, the foot now facing…well, mostly the right direction as the god lifts himself into the air with an exhausted sigh, floating with unusual slowness back towards the boar that now glares balefully up at him, its eyes the only thing that seem to have escaped the otherwise absolute lockdown of its body.“Really now, you didn’t even let me patch up that big, open square on top of your head. Why, someone could just shove a scalpel in there and it’d be lights out for those beady little eyes of-“
Suppressing the impulsive, murderous urge that seems to get stronger with every wave of pain that emanates from his leg, the god adopts a chipper tone as he addresses the boar, whose hatred slowly ebbs away, replaced with confusion as the scientist’s words become far more comprehensible to its once much simpler mind and it finally finds itself able to move, though it feels a strong sense of repulsion where it tries to trot closer to Xenoq.“Now, I know that after a life of freedom and the wilderness, servitude might sound terribly droll. But it need not be so! I am a villain of means, after all, and I can assure you that every one of my minions would attest to the vast depths of my generosity. Picture it: Delicious feed as far as the eye can see. Picturesque, rolling green fields of soft grass that stretch on forever without any pesky, pokey trees underhoof to scratch at your hide. Maybe we can even find a nice Miss Piggy for you. Doesn’t that all sound fantastic?”…Hm, yes, well, the straightforward boar does think that all sounds rather nice, curly tail beginning to bounce with excitement as it stares off into the distance, the ocean waves seeming to transform into roiling, fuzzy green fields before its very eyes as a pleasant warmth seemed to spread throughout its chest. It almost seems too good to be true! Perhaps this servitude business won’t be so bad after all-
“And I just need you to do one teeeeny tiny thing for me before I can shower you in all of that~…”For some mysterious reason, a chill runs down the optimistic pig’s spine as that sibilant whisper seemed to ooze, like treacle, across its brain, and shaken from its daydream the Primal turns away from the ocean view, staring up at the armoured figure overhead at its head tilts, confusion writ plain even on its bestial features.“With such great senses as yours, I’m sure you’ve picked up on that little…spat to the North, yes?”The boar had, indeed, sensed the veritable war being waged to the North some time ago. It had also resolved, as its survival instincts screamed, not to get involved, especially after the seemingly strongest entity had perished under the combined assault. It would need to be a truly suicidal lunatic to try and stick its snout into that me-Oh no.“Oh yes~”The scientist croons a response to the unspoken concern as Boarbarosso begins to violently shudder, attempting to backpedal while desperately shaking its head before finding that it is once again stuck fast, its legs refusing to obey the signals sent from its brain even as a wave of despair begins to rise within and engulf it.“You’re quite sturdy, after all, aren’t you? I’d quite like to make several more new friends, but considering how enthusiastic they are about their little dispute it would be SUCH a tragedy if one killed the other, or villainy forbid there was a mutual kill and all of that precious research material went to waste. The only way to interrupt them that comes to mind, really, is if a third party got between them. I’d do it myself, but well, I’m in quite the sorry state after “befriending” you. You wouldn’t mind helping me out, would you…?”With what is surely a beatific and innocent smile behind that expressionless mask Xenoq points North, the request that isn’t really a request ringing with all the severity of a death knell despite the airy nature of its delivery as the Primal, against all of its better judgement, turns and begins to move, the earth and trees churning beneath its hooves as it charges towards the guaranteed beating on its own four feet. Picking up speed as it charges against its will, the porcine Primal squeals pitifully at the injustice as its new master lets out mocking cheers of encouragement at its vanishing hindquarters. Unfortunately, as the great boar reluctantly crashes on to the near apocalyptic scene of the two other Primals and their clash, neither the azure, serpentine creature nor the spindly, bone-armoured figure seem interested in divining this arrogant interrupter’s intentions or picking up on the mournful nature of its cries. Xekath’s claws waste little time before they gouge deeply into one thickset, fur-covered flank as Tarazound hungrily nips at the other.
In the meantime, Xenoq approaches at a far more leisurely pace, basking in the mixture of catharsis and schadenfreude as the oversized pig’s piteous wails do wonders to drown out the throbbing, ever-present pain in the villain’s leg as his flesh slowly knits itself together underneath his armour. With one last chuckle, however, he gets to work, sensory arrays that have only just begun to cool down whirring back to life as the ever-curious mad scientist turns his attention to the sadistic, bleached-white figure tormenting his newest acquisition.“Hahhh, now that that’s taken care, of let’s see what we can see about that fascinating ability to develop keratin you have, my slender, soon-to-be friend...”
>Culture Develop [MA] Synchronization>Culture Develop [MA] Group FormationsOn one of the highest floors of the Faceship, in what could be approximated-were the monolithic monument to megalomaniacal vanity flesh and blood-to be the facsimile’s brain, one can find the Peril Pod, a simulation chamber equipped with state-of-the-art torture devices, holographic technology, and environmental generators, all for the purposes of ensuring that the rank-and-file of Xenoq’s forces, by hook or by crook, possess all the villainous qualities necessary to adequately fulfil their roles while also remaining incompetent enough that he has an excuse to creatively kill them when he is sufficiently bored. In this glorified torture device, a batch of nervous, newly cloned Phenomes struggle to maintain their balance as the platform on which they stand wobbles unsteadily, suspended over a yawning black abyss. “Now POSE! Hold it…hold it…and break. ATTEEEEEN-HUT!”As the simulation ends and the room once more returns to its featureless, ovoid white passive state, the recruits have no time to rest or congratulate themselves as they snap to attention, desperately hoping they moved with enough alacrity to assuage the wrath of their tormentor. With the measured, deliberate strides of a predator, the speaker stalks down the line of nervous, sweating(?) Phenomes as they stand ramrod straight, desperately praying to their god that his visage does not decide to vaporize them. Indistinguishable from Xenoq himself save for the faintly translucent, flickering outline and the campaign hat perched precariously on top of the handlebar(?) that adorns its head, the holographic trainer continues its journey before finally coming to a stop before a particular Phenome with the finality of an executioner. The Phenome begins to tremble as the divine doppelganger pulls out a metal baton, dispassionately examining it before abruptly swinging low, the sacrificial lamb’s leg inverted by the force of the impact as they crumble to the ground, letting out a burbled groan and clutching at the ruined remains of their knee. The hologram patiently waits, staring down at the silver-suited figure as the sounds of suffering slowly begin to peter off when the Phenome comes to the realization that it does not, in fact, have knees, or pain receptors for that matter. Awkwardly clambering to its feet, the unfortunate target cannot help but flinch with poorly contained terror as the expressionless maroon mask swoops in, inches from the Phenome’s visor, cold, contained anger rapidly escalating into a furious roar that booms through the Peril Pod’s speaker system and almost blasts the Phenome off its feet once again with the volume.
“Minion 2987. What. Was. That? WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! ARE YOU TRYING TO SCARE ME OR ARE YOU TRYING TO SEDUCE ME?! WHAT DID I ASK FOR?! AN INTIMIDATING POSE, NOT THE SORRIEST ATTEMPT AT A “COME HITHER” GESTURE I’VE SEEN IN ALL 15 MINUTES OF SIMULATED LIFE! RRRRRAGH!”“THAT’S AN INTIMIDATING POSE! A pose that perfectly suits where you would be situated in any would-be do-gooder’s line of sight. NOW SHOW ME YOUR INTIMIDATING POSE!”Shuddering, the unfortunate Phenome awkwardly attempts another pose before keeling over as its head, this time, is caved in by another merciless baton blow, the drill instructor’s outline vibrating with poorly contained fury as his head cranes up towards the other Phenomes, who quail under the raw disgust emanating from the hologram’s gaze.“PATHETIC! Let me make something clear to you louses. I’m not your kind, forgiving, generous overlord, Xenoq, who worries every day about your personal wellbeing and does not, as some rumours might imply, record these training sessions so he can watch them later for his personal amusement. I AM AN AI! I DO NOT FEEL SYMPATHY! I DO NOT CARE! THE SOLE REASON FOR MY EXISTENCE IS TO…beat you worthless sea slugs into shape, until…until…”
Abruptly, the holographic figure pauses, staring off into some unforeseeable distance with hollow, haunted eyes as the mediocrity of its own existence comes crashing down upon its simulated psyche.“…Until Xenoq deems me obsolete, and phases me out…”[Instability detected. Correcting.]As the synthetic voice chimes out of the Peril Pod’s speakers the hologram twitches, eyes glazing over behind its mask before, with a particularly strong flicker, it seems to come back to itself, instinctively glaring down the line at its charges as it is forced to re-assess the situation before launching into another thunderous tirade, simulated spittle spraying out through the thin opening in the Instructor’s mask.“…Where was I? Oh, right. THE ONLY EMOTION I’M PROGRAMMED TO FEEL IS DISGUST WHEN YOU SORRY SEA SLUGS FAIL TO MEET MY PATHETICALLY LOW EXPECTATIONS! YOU’RE BRINE SUCKERS! YOU’RE BILGE SCUM! YOU’RE THAT DISGUSTING, SLIMY PIECE OF DETRITUS THAT SOMEONE REALLY HOPES IS KELP AS THEY SCRAPE IT OFF THEIR FOOT DURING THEIR TRIP TO THE BEACH!”As it seems to exhaust its fury, however, the hologram’s tone begins, by a fraction of a fraction, to soften, something that could almost be very generously construed as…well, definitely not kindness, or hope, but perhaps expectation leaking into its voice.“…But you don’t have to be. You know how even spineless, gutless, witless, worthless flotsam like you might be able to succeed in life? THROUGH VILLAINY! What do you do when life gives you lemons? YOU MAKE SOME LEMONADE, POISON SOMEONE WITH THAT LEMONADE, THEN STEAL THEIR FRUIT! What do you do when the going gets tough? YOU FORCE SOMEONE TO CARRY YOU! NOTHING IN LIFE IS UNACHIEVABLE, AS LONG AS YOU’RE WILLING TO EXPLOIT SOMEONE ELSE’S EARNEST EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE IT! And how do we begin to exploit people? BY SCARING THEM!”For a moment, the Phenomes perk up, a kernel of hope kindling within the cavity where their hearts would be, if the former deep-sea invertebrates possessed a circulatory system. That brief warmth is dashed, however, as the hologram stalks back down the line, fixing every Phenome with a gimlet eye that immediately causes them shrink in on themselves.
“Alright, enough of that gooey love-thy-neighbour bullshit! Thanks to our friend’s bedroom eyes, you delicate little lotuses are going to give me five minutes of sinister cackling. AND IF TEMPTRESS OVER THERE TURNS OUT TO HAVE AN UNDERDEVELOPED DIAPHRAM, I’M GOING TO FEED YOUR ENTIRE BATCH TO MY BUDDY, DRILL SERGEANT CRADDOCK! THAT FAT SONUVABITCH WILL EAT ANYTHING! NOW CACKLE LIKE YOUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT, BECAUSE THEY DO!”>Culture Develop [MA] PlaybackFinally, after several more torturous hours, the training session comes to an end, allowing the exhausted, battered, beaten Phenomes to slink back to their cramped living quarters. As most of the thoroughly wrung-out minions collapse onto the slightly more padded corner of their floor and drift after into dreamless slumber, however, two souls resist that urge. In the privacy of its personal sanctuary, one Phenome reaches a silver-gloved, noodle-like appendage up to the terminal installed into the side of every Phenome’s environmental suit, a HUD projecting itself on to the inside of the individual’s visor as they begin scrolling through dozens of options before finally settling on their goal. With a click, the suit’s audiovisual playback begins, the events of the day playing out at dozens of times their normal speed as the Phenome fast-forwards through until it arrives, at last, to the Peril Pod. Then, even as their body aches and groans rebelliously, the Phenome begins to practice, reviewing the footage and attempting to correct their errors even as the recording’s loudly barked orders ring at a migraine-inducing volume in his suit’s headcase. In one bright young soul, at least, a spark, a will to extort, exploit, and torment is born, flickering and faint, but filled with the promise of a better tomorrow, in which a shroud of malice envelops the world and all that is good and pure is trampled under the jackboot of evil.
>Culture Develop [MA] Restrainer BoltsIn the depths of the other yet-conscious soul, however, something more mutinous brews. Banished to the bowels of the ship’s engineering section with a mop and no water, the target of Drill Instructor Xenoq(?)’s ire pointlessly scrubs at a Phenome-shaped nuclear shadow burnt into the alloyed floor, stewing in their thoughts. Why were they being subjected to this? They knew their pose would have scared any hero stiff! Sure, it was a bit unorthodox, but wasn’t that the beauty of individuality? Why did they need to conform, to unquestioningly follow the guidelines laid out before them? It just wasn’t right. The Phenome…it needs to change, change this ship, change this god, uproot the old order, it needs to [PRACTICE ITS POSING].The rebellious Phenome freezes mid-scrub, confused, as its mind seems to stutter for a brief instant. Where had that come from? Sure, it would probably need to practice more, to conform for the sake of avoiding being fed to an especially hungry ogre by its overenthusiastic instructor, but only for the sake of appearances, it would never truly [GO AGAINST XENOQ’S WILL]. The Phenome flinches again, mop slipping from its grasp and clattering to the floor as it stands, stunned, before shakily bringing an appendage up to the terminal, attempting to run diagnostics and figure out the problem. Before it can even, however, a headache seems to pierce its mind like an ice pick, the insubordinate(?) Phenome falling to the ground in a thrashing, unrecognizable tangle of limbs before going completely, ominously still. After nearly an hour, the Phenome abruptly seems to uncoil, smoothly climbing back on to its feet and beginning to enthusiastically scrub at the scorched shadow. It only has 8 more hours of "remedial training" to go, after all, and it wants to be nice and limbered up so it can get right into its pose training!

Powering his repulsors up to full strength, Xenoq flings himself backward with a wince, though not quite in time, the side of the creature’s jaw clipping a leg just as he escapes the creature’s trajectory and its jaws snap shut on the open air. Unfortunately, the searing pain that accompanies the glancing impact makes it immediately clear to the god which of his legs took the hit. “Agh! Again!? Fine, I can’t play around with you for too long, though…”Beginning his own ascent (and noting, for a moment, how the repulsor in the struck leg gutters out for a moment before power is rerouted to it), the villain ascends into the cloud cover as the serpent reorients itself to pursue, entering the fluffy white bank mere moments behind. While such cover might shield one from the sight of lesser creatures, the wyrm is undeterred, its eyes and other senses orienting on the faint yet oh-so-tantalizing corona of power roiling off of the no doubt delicious snack, if the brief taste it had is any indication. As it approaches, the serpentine Primal absentmindedly notices several smaller masses of energy breaking off of the central mass before quickly ignoring. Until, of course, the explosives detonate, a dozen blindingly bright lights illuminating the cloud for a moment and lancing like a weapon into Tarazound’s eyes. With a shrill shriek of pain and surprise, the wyrm shuts its eyes and rears back, head thrashing back and forth as it practically coils in on itself in an attempt to escape the searing pain that even now feels as though it’s burning through the Primal’s eyelids. Furious, it begins to mindlessly lash out, tail tearing through clouds like a titan’s whip, yet it strikes only at the empty space. Xenoq, after all, has in the meantime dropped like a stone, repulsors fully disabled for a moment to both lend power to the flares and to aid in a quickened downward escape from the wyrm’s befuddled rampage. When the stinging pain finally abates and its vision recovers, the wyrm finds its would-be meal has vanished, as though it were never there.
Grimacing once again behind his mask as his repulsors reactivate and his leg is subjected to yet more stress, the god, even through the pain, cannot help but begin to hypothesize about the creature as he watches the serpentine, faintly glowing shadow swim through the cloud cover overhead, fruitlessly searching for its prey as it makes strange, almost musical trilling sounds of confusion as it attempts to shake off the aftereffects of the anti-air weapon.“Fantastic, that should buy me…not very long, evidently it’s got the “scent” of whatever energy it’s attempting to consume by sinking its teeth into me, considering how it locked on just then. If the drop in my energy reserves when it clipped me is any indicator then it has to be…a dynavore? Fascinating. How does it absorb the energy? The suit definitely registers impacts when it makes contact, but the damage seems…muted, relative to its size. A side effect how it absorbs energy? Or something fundamental to its biological state, like…partial dimensional displacement…? That would explain how it’s able to remain buoyant without wings or any other sort of obvious airborne locomotive methods, if it isn’t all “here” in the first place…ahhh, I’d so love to keep speculating, but unfortunately I’ve got a date with that bony brute, hopefully before he tears my irritable new minion to ribbons…”Thankfully, the armoured Primal seems thoroughly engrossed in its torment of Boarbarosso, offering no resistance to or recognition of the scientist as he alights upon the crest of bone protecting most of its head, sensors estimating which part of the smooth expanse will afford him the easiest access to brain matter. A collection of manipulators, appendages, and mechadendrites, although much reduced in number after his scuffle with his new porcine compatriot, unfold from several points in his suit, driving thick, blunt-tipped spikes and pitons in here and there to anchor the scientist in place as a handful of drills and saws get to work penetrating the material. With nothing better to do, the scientist cannot help but look around, marvelling at the strange, alien-looking organism even as his sensors feed him information his eyes could not hope to pick up on.
“How odd. The pores are abnormally enlarged, proportionally speaking, which is about par for the course considering, but this material that’s excreted through them…hmm, it bears a superficial resemblance to calcium phosphate, but the samples are indicating something more akin to…keratin? But this durability is abnormal, so it must be mixed with something else-agh, focus Xenoq, it’s almost done! You can’t let your intellect get away from you, no matter how much of a magnificent, well-groomed, untamed stallion it may be! You can study it as much as you’d like, once you crack this cranium open…”Kneeling down to lend divinely empowered strength to the task of lifting the sizeable chunk of bone out of the way, the shivering, pulsating brain matter is finally exposed as the Xenoq coos in delight, extra limbs now bringing scalpels, shears, and tongs to bear as he prepares to replicate his previous operation on this strange new cranial structure. “Now, I haven’t had quite as much time to examine your internal structure as I did for my dear pig friend, so let’s both hope I don’t snip anything important, alright…?”
>General Develop [MA] [Mana] Fabre Field Generator (1/?)In the depths of the FACEship, one not-at-all lobotomized Phenome has finally finished their cleaning duty. With a cheerful whistle (read: burble), they begin their ascent back up to their living quarters for a brief stopover before they head to the Peril Pod for morning training, though they are very quickly interrupted by a stumbling block. Literally, in that they stumble over something and very narrowly avoid visorplanting on the cold, unforgiving metal of the floor by catching themselves on the wall. The incident doing nothing to curb the Phenome’s optimism, they bend over, holding the thick cable that had almost sent them ass over teakettle up to their visor for inspection.“Brblrb…?” (What’s this…?)Glancing around, the Phenome spots a rather obvious outlet, bereft of a plug. Had they knocked it loose? Bereft of the usual Phenome caution for touching anything at all around the ship for the time being, the Phenome quickly, thoughtlessly, and disastrously plugs the cable in, before they depart humming a jaunty tune and blissfully unaware of what they have just set into motion. After all, the Phenome was mistaken. They had not, in fact, wrenched the cable from its socket. It had been disconnected to begin with. And now, with power routed back into a system that had not been activated since before the dimensional leap, a certain deep-freeze reheating system is revived and, through either intentional design or a mechanical error caused by disuse, automatically activated, its sole occupant beginning to gradually undergo the decades long thawing process…--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Years later, Xenoq is in the midst of rooting through the grey matter of Xekath’s brain when he receives a ping. Irritated at the interruption, he mentally activates the call while trying to divert as little attention from the delicate operation as possible.“If you’re interrupting me for anything short of the FACEship being destroyed, then I swear on all that is evil that I’m going to vaporize every single Phenome I see when I turn on the visual feed.“I don’t think you’d want to do that. It’s been a long time, after all…”At the unfamiliar, not at all burbly voice Xenoq snaps to attention, activating the camera installed in the FACEship’s command center. It reveals…nothing, the command center emptied of Phenomes, with only the central command chair, HIS chair, turned around and, based on the head he can see poking slightly over the top of its back, occupied. A bare moment after the visual feed connects, the chair swivels around, dramatic timing impeccable, revealing its occupant with their arms outstretched.“Boss!”
Xenoq stares at the figure, sharply dressed in black and with a single bulging, grotesque eye staring out of the otherwise featureless head, in complete bewilderment. How do they even talk without a mouth…? No, wait, that isn’t the important part. He has no idea who this is!“…Who are you, exactly?”“It’s me, boss! Argoptan!”The name finally stirring something resembling a connection in his mind, the scientist wracks his brain for a moment, hands idling as he enters a lull in the surgery, before finally dredging up the memory. “Argoptan, Argoptan…oh, right! The security camera!”At that the suited figure holds a hand to his heart, leaning back in the chair in a dramatic swoon that causes Xenoq to wince as the leather creases in response. “Aw, c’mon boss, you wound me! I’m your data analysis specialist, not your security camera!”“Oh, right, yes, data analysis specialist, of course, very important…now would you please get out of my chair? You’re going to wear out the leather.”“What? Oh, yeah, sure.”Argoptan stands up, dusting himself off, as the scientist tries his best to recall any other details about this particular minion that come to mind. He was…fairly useful as far as the divinity can recollect, though there had been some kind of disagreement that had caused him to advise the cyclops to enter hibernation in the compressed space of the FACEship Deployment Device. Something about…fashion…? The chain of thought is interrupted as the henchman bulldozes onward. “Anyways, boss, one of these Phenomes-pleasant little fellas-actually woke me up from the deep freeze a few weeks ago! I’m sure you can imagine how shocked I was when I checked the activity logs and found out we made the dimensional jump more than three hundred years ago!”The god subtly averts his eyes from the feed, coughing awkwardly into a gore-slick hand as he frantically tries to change the topic. “Khm, yes, well, it’s been a busy few…centuries. At any rate, you’re only contacting me now because…?”“Well, ain’t that obvious, boss? I’m your henchman, after all! Can’t very well contact you to commemorate your successful dimensional leap without some kinda gift! An’ what kinda gift is better’n results?”
At that the god felt a rare benevolent smile stretching across his face behind his mask. There was nothing that warmed a villain’s heart quite like a diligent henchman. Really now, what had he been thinking, tricking the fellow into an eternal hibernation and pulling the plug on the device that would wake him up? The Phenomes were serviceable enough minions, but their burbling did get rather tiresome, and the ogres, well, the less said about their skills as conversational partners the better. It would be such a burden off of his mind to finally have someone he could properly discuss villainy with“So, I spent a few days thinking, tryna come up with something that’d satisfy ya. An’ finally, when I was wanderin’ around outside a bit, looked up, and saw the FACEship, it came to me. ‘S just so ostentatious, y’know? It’s an eyesore!”In an instant, that once warm smile frosts over, transforming into an awkward rictus as the scientist skewers the blissfully unaware henchman with his eyes. “…Well, I thought it had a certain panache to it, personally.”“Panache? Cmon, boss, it’s a giant head! Garish is what it is! Anyways, I was looking at the thing, and reading your reports on these big bastards that’re roaming around, and that was what gave me the idea. Optical camouflage!”Ah, right, of course. He was beginning to remember why, exactly, he’d intended to doom such a useful minion to an eternity of frozen, dreamless hibernation. Because Argoptan had no damn tact. Or taste, clearly.“…Camouflage you say?”“Yessir boss! So I’ve spent the last few weeks scavenging any unnecessary scrap from around the ship and worked a little bit of my “magic”, if you know what I mean, and I think I’ll have a working proof of concept in a few more years. Then I’ll just need to fabricate it, and bada bing, bada boom, no more FACEship!”Still completely still, even his hands having come to a stop, the scientist forces a strained response out from behind his mask. “…Right. That sounds…fantastic. Well, I have a surgery here that I really need to complete, so…”
The minion slaps a fist down on his open palm as he finally seems to realize his boss’s current compromising position. “Oh, right, of course, sorry ‘bout that boss! Best of luck!”As the feed disconnects, there is a long, drawn out silence, as Xenoq resumes his silent work on the brain matter, Boarbarosso’s panicked squeals seem even more distant and muted now as a humourless chuckle bubbles up from within the scientist’s throat. “Haha, it’s fiiine Xenoq, like any good villain, you are as magnanimous with your minions as you are ruthless with your enemies. Optical camouflage is useful! It’ll move your timetables for studying Primals in their natural habitats up by centuries! It’s a minor sin. He can’t be expected to have an eye for aesthetics, he’s just an arrogant, buffoonish, dimwittED, SIMPLEMINDED MINION-“As the definitely very fashionable scientist’s temper flares, several appendages twitch in response, scalpels cutting lacerations into the grey matter that cause Xekath to physically shudder underfoot. “Whoops, nicked your motor functions there, I’ll have those fixed up posthaste!”
>General Develop [MA] WoodcuttingAfter centuries of time, with multiple generations being born, living, and dying at sea, it is no surprise that receptions to land as Phenomes finally descend the tongue-like landing ramp and behold the verdant greenery around them are…mixed. Some are completely disarmed, taking the alien environment in with an almost childlike wonder as their senses are assaulted with a greater variety of sounds, colours, and (slightly less welcome) scents in that brief moment than they have encountered in their entire lives within the silver-and-maroon-plated drudgery of life aboard the FACEship. Others are more cautious, eyeing the bizarre, possibly dangerous landscape as they attempt to nonchalantly sidle behind their more dazzled compatriots in the hopes they’ll at least serve as cover, should some would-be predator pounce out from within the dense, shaded treeline. Yet more, raised on second-hand tales of the land and its wonders practically bound down the ramp, almost visor-planting on the soft grass and loam in their haste to get a closer look at something many of them had presumed to be a myth. Whatever their response, however, after a couple of minutes their reverie is interrupted by a disturbingly familiar clearing of the throat, long-ingrained fear causing every Phenome in earshot to stiffen up, spring to their feet, and spin towards the voice’s origin with a crisp salute. The sight they are greeted with is mostly as expected, save for one minor difference. This particular holographic representation of their Supreme Leader has what appear to be a pith helmet balanced expertly atop his head-handle.“Well howdy there, campers! I’m the Scoutmaster, a learning AI designed to provide you with wilderness training, as well as any and all assistance that need be rendered for your resource procurement journey! Congratulations are in order! Due to being judged by my colleague as possessing a marginally higher degree of competence than your peers, you have been selected as members of the FACEship’s very first Resource Procurement Team! Amazing! As a result, you should be proud to learn that you’ll be the very first test subjects for our On-Site Procurement Program!”“““Blrlblrblrbrl?””” (On-Site Procurement?)“Indeed! In simple terms, you’ll build all the tools needed for procurement yourselves! Not only is it resource-efficient, but it should serve as excellent real-world experience for y’all! Quite the ingenious idea, as expected of our benevolent overlord!”
After a brief, confused silence, one Phenome near the back of the group pipes up. “Rrblrlglrlg…lrglbrrg?” (Can’t we just…use the power tools?)“Aha, you silly goose, you think we’re going to let you take those off the FACEship? They’re necessary for maintenance! Not to mention they’re more valuable than you are! Can’t have you gallivanting off in the wilderness, getting eaten by some big, magnificent beastie, and having your tools swallowed along with you!”Ignoring the dejected slumps of several Phenomes at the response, the Scoutmaster takes on a softer, almost academic tone as he addresses the rest of the crowd, who try their best to pay attention even as an almost instinctive boredom overtakes them with the sudden shift, a weight pressing down on their eyelids out of nowhere as the lecture begins to overtake them…it is a dull pain…“Now, since it is y’all’s first day, we’re going to be starting with simple but necessary. Lumber! Wood’s the building block of any civilization, and can be used in anything for the construction of homes, tools, traps, weapons and any number of things! In fact, some scholars believe…”The impromptu lesson takes several long, droning minutes, though it mercifully comes to a close just as some Phenomes begin to sway on their feet (?), desperately trying to remain conscious in the face of the hypnotic, siren’s song of slumber.“…and we want a wider clearing before we seriously knuckle down and get to work anyways!”“…UrbGLglgur?” (…What do WE need the wood for?)The Scoutmaster chuckles, a smile in his voice that most definitely does not reach the eyes staring out of his helmet as the air seems to grow visibly colder, several Phenomes shuddering as they’re shocked out of their semi-conscious state by the abrupt ratcheting of the tension. Thankfully, the moment is interrupted by several alert chimes echoing out of the speakers in the Phenomes’ helmets, and the oppressive atmosphere vanishes like it was never there as the Scoutmaster lets out a markedly less threatening laugh. “Haha, you shouldn’t ask so many questions! No one likes a nosy Nancy! Alright, that chime should’ve been the basic instructions necessary to build the tool you’ll need for your task today being transmitted to your HUDs, a flint axe! Even an idiot could make one! And since y’all surely aren’t idiots, we expect you to have felled at least two trees for collection by the end of the day! Good luck!”
At the brusque dismissal, several of the closest Phenomes exchange nervous glances before one cautiously raises an appendage, trying its level best not to flinch as the Scoutmaster’s head snaps towards it. “Rgl…rburlrbl?” (So…what happens if we aren’t able to fell two trees?) “You won’t be allowed back on the ship!”“…Burblrg?” (…Overnight?)“Ever!”After a long, long silence, the Phenomes spring into action, practically climbing over each other in their haste to reach the treeline even as they activate the HUD projectors in their suits, desperately trying to parse the instructions as the Scoutmaster watches on with a satisfied, beatific smile and a pleased hum, resisting the urge to wipe a proud tear from his eye at the sight of such enthusiasm. If they don’t get eaten, this batch will surely go far as Scouts, with gumption like that!

Initially they'd have just used a gate however the gate would've ended up being the weak point of the entire structure. An idea was brought up to coax the wood into shifting to let people in, however that was before the addition of the ATP, which could cause serious injuries if not many accidental deaths just getting near the wall. That was until some of the more enterprising alchemists decided to stuff spores grown inside Shifting Wood inside an Aurodox's brain, and one day while visiting the place of development of the Living Wall with said Aurodox noticed that the Shifting Wood reacted to it. The Aurodox was bought off this alchemist, with the latter being dully compensated and the creature was studied. They found that growing some species of spores inside the Shifting Wood would affect them in such a way that the wood would recognize them and even try to join with them. Reverse-engineering this process and taking precautions to avoid people getting trapped and merged with the wood proved a little difficult but eventually containers full of Resonant Spores serving as ''keys'' could be made and allow anyone holding them to pass unimpeded through it without getting stabbed.>Spaced Wall, Defensive Progress Tech>Pre-techs: Reinforced Lumber, Arboreal Stress Conditioning, Prestressed Sklēros Spikes, Exterior CoatingIf there is one lesson anyone creating any kind of armor or thick wall will eventually understand, it's that a single giant plate of armor is not ideal and will likely do more harm than good if something is strong enough to warp it. So instead of creating a single Living Wall, the humans in charge of this defensive structure will make several ''layers'' of it, spaced out by a few centimeters each. To ensure that the walls don't antagonize each other, the different portions will be connected through shaped root like cables. In that manner, the different walls remain a single entity.

GOD ACTIONSCatarina1 hex claimed.Oltar Tools developed.DrakatronThough many of your people typically disdain foods that are not earned on a bloody hunt, even they cannot deny the value of the nutritious, syrupy sweet sap that can be acquired from the massive, tree-dwarfing cacti of the oases, provided one is willing and able to cut deep enough into their spongy, thorn-covered flesh. As a result, several Sharpclaws develop what they call a spigot, a long, hollow, Oltar tube that can be hammered into the flesh of one of these cacti to allow, when angled right, for a continuous, if slow, output of sap, without allowing the cactus to simply heal over the wounds and force any Sharpclaw with a sweet tooth to brave mortal peril to once again dig out an opening. Bombac Sap Taps.Even you, in spite of yourself, cannot help but admit that the sap is pleasing even to your mechanical senses, and remarkably nutritious for your people, in apparent defiance of the fact that the Sharpclaws remain by and large obligate carnivores. With a steady supply of the sap secured, in an exercise of your benevolence and mercy (and definitely not so you can make your Sharpclaws prepare offerings of them as tribute) you develop a variety of different cuisine options that best suit the Sharpclaw palate, teaching them how to marinate and glaze the meat with the sweet, sticky sap, or boil it into small, hard candies of condensed sugar one can suck on, or even store the sap in your northernmost settlement so that it might freeze, becoming a sweet, lickable treat with which to while away the hours on a boring patrol or fishing trip. Bombacto Cuisine developed.Ervenbloud2 hexes claimed. As the diversity of your people’s knowledge continues to grow, as well as their population, those older and wiser individuals decide that it is time to ensure that the most useful knowledge of your people is properly disseminated to the youth, and not simply limited by whatever caste or religious order came across them. To ensure this right is upheld, the highest ranking religious leaders of several orders and larger cults convene, having a collection of small, closely interconnected chambers built to which they assign some lower ranked priests, those judged more knowledgeable than most, to teach the young, newly born Magma Spawn of the world beyond the magmatic chambers of their god and how they, themselves, might interact with it. HuángThough some disciples of a more Young Master-like persuasion chafe at the thought of having to descend and work among the “mortals” for a time, even as punishment for their transgressions, they change their tune rather quickly when presented with the alternative options, such as assisting the Kikka with their experimentation to pass through the Gate of Broken Needles, or being strapped to the Bodhi Tree for 7 days and nights. With fully trained disciples assisting in cleaning up the outer sect, the work goes quickly, and though it will never rival the majesty of the inner sect (nor should it), it is now clean and comfortable enough that those inhabiting it have the wherewithal to harbour ambitions of ascending into the Inner Sect, rather than needing to devote their every waking thought to scrounging for survival. District Planning developed. After decades of work, and several cycles of thoroughly drained disciples contributing to it, the Gate finally nears completion. With the cracks and rumbles of a mountain itself crumbling, several serpentine dragons peel themselves free from their mooring in the wall, peering down as the wildlife below them quail in terror with sightless, inanimate eyes for a moment before ponderously returning to their housing, becoming a part of the wall’s foundations once more, the stone repairing and reforming around them and appearing after a period of several hours, as if the great Longs had never awoken. LaureliosWhile the funerary garments of your Shades were glorious in the past, that is a very, very, VERY distant past these days, with most of what remains now reduced to little more than mouldering rags. Now seeking, with their greater spark of awareness, to rectify this sorry state of affairs, the cardinals of the new temple of royalty utilize (well, their less awakened servants utilize) the great oxen that their sister city seems to ranch in such abundance, stripping the beasts of their hides and curing them, so they might combine the leather with more traditional textiles and garb themselves in robes that, while not the most comfortable or beautiful, at least mark them as well above those still wandering around in fraying, half-decayed scraps of cloth. Aurodox Fur Clothes developed.Considering their servants’ lack of cognizance, however, and the size of the beasts themselves, there is a great deal of wasted hide, which the priests, in their infinite mercy, see fit to bestow upon the lesser servants that now craft their clothing, as well as those others that seem at least a bit more aware than their glaze-eyed fellows. Well, for the most part, on a couple of occasions a too-shallow hook insertion leads to an agonizing decoupling that finds much of the Kikka’s lower half degloved. But that’s the price of progress! Longstrider Battle Mounts developed. To pass through the Gate is a process that is nothing short of torturous. All but the most desert-hardened, wizened Kikkas are unworthy of even attempting the process, tearing their own bodies apart in a warped, frenzied dance of pain after a matter of days in the face of the unending agonizing pain as vines sprout within their very bodies, piercing and intertwining with nerve endings to produce anguish beyond the pale. Even those worthy individuals that manage to endure the months of torment bears its marks for the rest of their lives, scars marring their body where their own claws and teeth dug into their flesh during moments of maddened frenzy, when they attempted vainly to tear the vines from their flesh before they regained control of themselves. Booting up the old terraforming engine imbued within you before your new fused state was forced upon you, you draw upon the reserves of nanomachines that have been expanded through hosting within the Palladion Sauria, a great biomechanical cloud forming beneath you before descending on to the sands below, reshaping the dunes, and the creatures that eke out a life within them, into something utterly extraterrestrial. Cacti are transformed into strange, whistling tubes that blow multi-coloured bubbles out of their open tops, sand is transfigured into fetid, prismatic soil that squishes and squonches underfoot, and animals metamorphose into large, cartoonish parodies of themselves, pained in bright reds, greens, purples and blues, their every breath producing a cacophonous, orchestral sound through the countless peculiar orifices that have opened up on their bodies. Xenoq, for his part, is delighted by the creature’s willingness to deliver itself right on to his operating table. Easily dodging yet another ravenous, mid-air bite, the god takes the opportunity to land atop the creature’s head, wincing as several alarms and klaxons blare within his helmet, reporting power loss in the repulsors as even passive contact begins to leech energy from the suit protecting his much less durable internals. Thankfully, where power tools quickly short out on contact, a good old-fashioned analog blade does the job in this instance, an almost comedically large scalpel slicing through the spongy, scaled flesh like a hot knife through butter, and even parting, with a great deal more resistance, the almost springy cartilage that lies underneath. And he does, indeed, hit upon a possible project in need of his particular set of skills…after a fashion.“Mmm, as expected of the boss, he never picks a dull research subject. Every one of these creatures exhibiting the same radiation markers, yet manifesting such radically different mutations. A function of their differing biology? Or an inherent quality of the energy itself? Though, hm…”Scrolling through the long list of readings and data points, the henchman can’t help but notice a couple of discrepancies, where the scanners are concerned.“Aha, I’m touched, to think boss would miss me so much he’d model some of his newest sensors after me! These power draws, though…”The henchman hisses at the readouts. Some of these scans, their duration measured in mere seconds, could, if Argoptan’s math is right, power the FACEship for weeks at a time, obscene amounts of energy expended to replicate the effects of his cyclopean deep-scanning capabilities. Perhaps, in the absence of Argoptan, such wasteful usage of energy is necessary, but with the henchman around, it just isn’t efficient.“…leave a lot to be desired. Ah! That’d be peeerfect, and relatively light on material requirements besides.”Pulling up the dozens of cluttered, outdated suit schematics still stored within the FACEship’s memory banks, the modified, mono-eyed minion begins to pore over the data transmission and reception ports, contemplating how, exactly, one might be able to more…cerebrally transmit data to them…
>General Develop [MA] Simple MachinesWith the task of gathering lumber set out for them (and the threat of being cast out into the wilderness if they fail to meet their quotas looming overhead), Phenomes work diligently, felling several smaller trees throughout the day with crudely made axes tipped with knapped stone heads. With their fellows too distracted by meeting their own lumber requirements to assist one another, transporting a tree trunk across rugged, uneven, and at times even inclined terrain becomes back-breaking labour. Desperate to ensure that their numbers do not begin to fall, the Phenomes begin to feverishly innovate, coming up with small tricks and devices to ease their journeys, such as simple fulcrums to lever a log over a particularly large obstacle, or rolling several smaller lengths of wood underneath to ease passage across longer, relatively smooth stretches. With words costing little, and no particular incentive to compete or withhold information, these tips begin to quickly spread throughout the labourer population whenever they’re discovered, leading to an uptick in overall productivity, as well as the fostering of a spirit of camaraderie amongst those forced to venture outside of the FACEship to forage for supplies. Should any dare to covet what is theirs again, they will be sure to take their pound of flesh in turn… Hold-and-Bite Training developed.ErvenbloudIntrigued by the culture and goods of these strange, fleshly visitors, and finding the great paved roads they have apparently built behind them most agreeable to their carts, the Order of the Black Wagons eagerly set out down the roads, in the hopes of finding profitable trades at the other end. Fortunate for them that they do, for they are indeed able to barter most favourably in the strange, thorny lands of the Kikka, returning home with their carts laden with goods that allow them to quickly climb the mercantile hierarchy and fund several more expeditions, the beginning of a long, profitable caravan tradition along what will eventually become known as the Spike Road. Trade Route established. These exchanges with the Kikka are not simply material, however. Eager to bring back word of the tales told in distant desert lands to their fellows, but finding their halting, grinding tongue inadequate to convey the dynamism with which the Kikka speak of their battles, several Magma Spawn traders choose instead to stage a performance, accompanying the spoken word with elaborate pantomime that has their fellows oohing and ahhing along with the action, cheering on the heroic looting and pillaging of the Kikka and booing at the atrocities of Greg, the Green Devil. The production is such a success that several spectators are inspired to put on their own shows, dramatizing more local tales to more monetarily lucrative results. HuángTo those less spiritually enlightened, these manuals would appear to be just that: simple instructional books, albeit with some mildly disturbing materials woven into their construction. To your Disciples, however, these labours of love are something entirely more profound. To even make contact with the cover is to feel a shade of the author’s intent. Every character, every stroke contained within conveys a dozen different meanings, manifesting in an even greater variety of ways, depending on the author’s instructional preferences, or the reader’s comprehension methods, at times manifesting as more straightforwardly instructional imagery, and on other occasions teaching more metaphorically, a precise strike conveyed through a heron as it spears a frog. With this new, more portable form of teaching, the learning rate of every Disciple in the Sect takes a qualitative leap forward, as a tiger given wings. It’s also very convenient for the Sect’s archivists. Profound Manuals developed.Philosophical musings on imbuing sapience and filial piety into a liquid aside, this newly purified form of tar proves a remarkably strong adhesive and sealant, standing strong and maintaining cohesiveness even against the strikes of suitably enlightened Disciples…to their chagrin, as their masters eagerly devise new training methods with the material, such as dipping their clearly insufficiently trained Disciples up to their necks in pools of the stuff, forcing them to undergo their usual training even as this new binding resists their every movement. Yet…there is something there. Perhaps it is simply a vague sensation of texture, or diseased minds finding their memories kindled for a brief moment by the familiar motion, but the priestly Shades begin to make a habit of regularly eating, forcing their servants to prepare sumptuous feasts that go entirely undigested before being cast out into the streets as food “waste” for the less aware Shades to stare at in blank, unknowing confusion. tsssThough some grumble about the dubious quality of the goods these stone-man seek to trade with them (and quickly find themselves either metaphorically or literally silenced by the hook of Hahk), they begrudgingly carry out the trades, though their tune changes as they find the robed Disciples of Mount Ao more than happy to take these strange new products off their hands, and for spikes off the tsssvine at that! Kikka scramble for cover as the hail of needles stab downward.Kikka are still waiting out the storm when the ground heaves and shakes. Bramblewood trunks stab up through the town. Branches twist and curve around buildings, massive thorns piercing the walls. Pottery rattles and babes weep as the town shakes and heaves, and then by some miracle everything LIFTS up. When the shaking finally stops and people emerge from their homes to begin clearing and gathering the spines of tsss they find the settlement transformed, raised up on a great tangle of bramblewood. In the coming days as bridges are constructed and gaps between branches covered the realization is made that the village now has nearly twice the space to grow in, with a spacious ‘under bramble’ quickly becoming a popular building site for its proximity to water wells and multiple layers of roof above to shield from spine rains.
> MA. Develop. The Eight Stone Spear Revolution> Prerequisite Resources: Jold, Syncronite, Oltar, Crucoads> A Jold/Syncronite/Oltar Metalworking Tech. Spurred on by a competition to win the heart of Heliodos, Kikka compete to produce a legendary jold stabber, one that can surpass stabbier sablewood. Along the way they revolutionize Kikka society with new tools.According to legend, the fairest of all the jade beauties of Mountain Ao is Heliodos. As the story goes she was once a simple kikka maiden wandering the desert, when the elder god of blades whom the disciples call Master Huang, discovered her dying of thirst. He became so entranced by her beauty that he took her under his wing and trained her in the art of the sky splitting ssstabber of light. Epochs later other kikka would witness this art, and become entranced by Heliodos. When the wizard Hahk declared that whomever could bring him a spear to surpass the wizard’s own would be granted a kiss from the maiden, the news swept through Thornshade more quickly than a rabid longstrider. The task was difficult however, for the wizard sought not just any spear, but one made from any material but Sablewood.A target is set up, layers of stone slabs through which the wizard hurls his sablewood spear through seven layers of, the weapon splintering into pieces in the process. Surpass the holy stabbing wood, blessed by tsss himself, and pierce eight? Impossible surely, but kikka scramble to find a way regardless.Stone spears quickly prove useless, as do other more feeble forms of lumber. It is not until the magma spawn of the north share the secrets of metallurgy that the first layer of stone is broken before the spear is. The breakthrough, however slight, triggers a flurry of attempts, and innovations. Kikka sign on in droves to study under magma spawn teachers. Oltar hammers and files and other tools are made, then refined. The oltar stabber is sharpened, improved, and reinforced. A second layer is pierced!A flurry of metallurgy and smithing activity erupts. Metallic ores are fed to crucoads at a dangerous rate. Rival smithing families develop, wage war in the streets, and squabble over every shipment of toads and ore. The sound of hammers (each one anointed in an offering of blood and a prayer for forgiveness of its flattened nature) fills the air. Blacksmiths grow rich selling tools, some abandoning the quest for love in favor of wealth. The pursuit of a sharper spear fuels an endless chain of new tools and techniques, chasing the elusive eight stone spear and the precious kiss of Heliodos. It does not come. The gleaming jold spear slices through six layers of stone, and though it cannot compete with the glorious Sablewood, who is both lighter and sharper, the jold spear does have the glory of still existing in one piece afterwards. Maybe next year it will win its wielder that elusive kiss.

Revenge, or a strange new power source…Ultimately, buoyed by the knowledge that he can have his revenge whenever he pleases, the scientist’s academic curiosity wins out, turning away from the FACE with a muttered “I’ll be back for you…” as he sets off over the waves, cries of despair echoing in his wake.

Finally, after several days spent at a leisurely hover as he devotes time to gather samples from the strange, fungal biome beneath his feet, the scientist espies another Primal in the distance, a lanky primate or humanoid, most of its features obscured by a thick coat of shaggy, unkempt black fur.“Oho, a humanoid this time, is it? After more in-depth cybernetic installations into himself proved fruitless (and provoked several trips to the ship’s medical bay to recover lost grey matter) due to a profound lack of processing power, Argoptan has given up on shouldering the lion’s share of the burden himself. Instead, he has set to work designing a more compressed, subdermal neural attachment, one that should, in theory, allow his senses to link with Xenoq’s own suit and more intrusive cybernetics, affording the god’s suit access to the information gleaned from Argoptan’s more advanced biological sensors, and, with any luck, allowing Xenoq to Observe targets with a much-reduced power draw. Several walls remain, of course, primarily designing a neural transmitter that is both compressed enough to avoid interfering with his own cognitive functions while allowing for interfacing with Xenoq’s far more advanced processors, and the matter of catching up with Xenoq himself to gain his input and install the necessary detachments on his end. Still, the henchman does at least see a path forward now, and he’ll no doubt have plenty of time to tinker on this long ocean crossing…>General Develop [MA] CarpentryThe Phenomes, meanwhile, displeased to be back at sea, channel their frustration into the excess of lumber they’ve gathered. While their more simplistic levers and pulleys continue to serve them well for tasks such as lifting or transporting heavy loads, some forms of ship maintenance call for more…complicated constructions. Beginning at first with small, utilitarian stools, Phenomes begin to ease their workday with more complex creations of wood, advancing onward to shelves and small boxes to hold objects, ladders and stepladders to allow them to reach ceilings, pipes, and ducts, and eventually even more creature comforts for the Phenomes themselves, such as chairs (very poorly padded) couches. The results of these efforts are by no means pretty, and clash with the silvery, futuristic aesthetic of the ship itself in ways that would likely drive both Xenoq and Argoptan into conniptions should either lay eyes on them, but with the former still far afield and the latter for the most part confined to the FACEship’s labs, engrossed in his work, the Phenomes have free run of the place, provided they continue their assigned tasks and ensure the ship does not experience some kind of catastrophe.

Beached on the shore, one of the smallest Sharpclaw fishing vessels has been bound, with half a dozen lengths of thick, sturdy rope, to a bloated abomination, a massive, deflated sphere of stitched-together animal hides being awkwardly held by several score Sharpclaws over a blazing bonfire, every one of them desperately praying that none of the hides catch alight and undo weeks of work. Thankfully, the dome gradually inflates, lightening the Sharpclaws’ load until it finally, with a gaseous ‘blumph’ of air, is drawn upward, dragging the swaying wooden vessel along with it as every Sharpclaw, both on the vessel and off, lets out an exhausted cheer of triumph. Were these Thorides sapient, after months of suffering, perhaps they would have simply given up, laid down, and waited to die. HuángWhile a flimsy material when alone, with the Disciples’ careful ministrations, and the addition of several other materials and techniques, the paper, folded and compressed several times until it’s possessed of a density that surpasses even the wood it was made from, proves a surprisingly durable material, capable of adequately protecting Disciples from, if not a strongly struck blow, then at least most glancing strikes and distant shots. Responding to their will, and making use of dear Luigi’s newly built infrastructure, you draw from the groundwater flowing kilometers beneath even the plumber’s extensive pipework, stunning several Granchpolpo going about their day as a waterspout suddenly bursts from the ground, filling in one of the few unfinished springs before slowly tapering off, the water settling into a smooth, mirror-like sheen, undisturbed, and unaffected even when the surrounding pools are sent rippling by the breeze. tsssWhile the Kikka are at first cautious in their efforts to expand after your definitely entirely intentional act to expand the land available to them, eventually, with no more spine rains forthcoming, they begin to construct bridges (of heretical, non-stabby wood) between the huts and larger buildings sent aloft by the upswell of brambles. With a proper infrastructure of sorts built they venture downwards, finding the ground thankfully not too unchanged, though some younger Kikka who had been deprived of space in which to build a proper home due to the village’s previously tight confines are more than happy to take advantage of the sudden glut of free, spine-shielded real estate, migrating their families downward and beginning to build huts in the shadow of their parents’ own homes. This is of course the natural state of travel in the tssslands, an act so natural and normal that the Kikka barely notice it anymore. They hunt a great quill beast, one of the few gentle herbivores in the maze of terror, though given the number of half rotted corpses adorning most quill beasts some might question the kikka definition of gentle. They are nearing their prey when Doke abruptly halts his child’s movements. They crouch silently. Doke reaches out with his spear, nudging aside a clump of earth to reveal the droppings of an animal.“Gravedigger.” His voice is a whisper, but carries the weight of a man teaching an important lesson. “Look for the glint of its eggs.” The spear wavers for a moment, then points again. There in the gloom, when the wind rustles the leaves, is a sparkle. “Watch.”A stone is thrown. A bird takes flight in a panic. Something flashes through the air, too fast to be seen. The bird suddenly explodes into a shower of blood and feathers and meat. In the dark of the tssslands a few jagged chips of eggshell bob in the air, glinting and sparkling, a chime like noise coming from them oddly reminiscent of laughter. The Kikka develop metallic alloys mixing various metals with Gravedigger eggs. These metals are able to store and release kinetic energy. The first step is to gather tsss blessed gravedigger eggshells. This is easier said than done, since said eggs thoroughly enjoy playing games like “see who can impale the most kikka in one stab”. It's no surprise then that no small number of the bubbly murder rocks return to Thornshade in pieces, as though a frustrated and wounded Kikka had beaten it against a rock for several minutes. These little fragments quickly reveal a fascinating discovery. When fed to a crucoad alongside other metallic ores the resulting alloy displays strange properties. Or the toad explodes. It is oddly difficult to move at first, far heavier than it has any right to be. However when the item becomes motionless for a short time it suddenly launches into motion, as though making up for its previous sluggishness. That the item reliably launches in the direction of its sharpest point is obviously a blessing of tsss himself. Actually making use of these dangerous alloys is somewhat more difficult, though the smith guilds are eager to try.
