A void carved deep into dense rock. Water flowing through cracks in the ceiling, dripping down, building spikes of stone over millennia. Blind troglodytes squirm in pools, reacting to an unseen force. Something appears in the space. It reaches out and….Then comes blinding light, a cacophony of sound, an eclectic mixture of tastes and smells, burning heat, freezing cold and the feeling that your body is being torn apart. You reflexively try to flail about, but nothing happens, the overwhelming pain and sensations continue unabated, you can’t even tell where any of them are coming from, it’s as if your entire body is one giant phantom limb.As you try to scream out, a dark patch spread out from the centre of your vision, within are a pair of glowing spheres. They draw in your focus, drowning out the pain and other sensations, a strange feeling of familiarity falls on your mind.A long silence and deep calm follow. You feel as if all will be well.Something begins to gnaw at your consciousness, a wooden creak. Quiet, at first, it grinds at the back of your mind. The sound builds, drawing more of your focus, it becomes an onslaught of groaning and rending wood, until…
An echoing drip, a moment of weightlessness, and then you drop. With a splash you hit the hard stone floor of a cave, a vibrant cyan mist is around you, dissipating quickly as you sit there in shock. You sit there, staring blankly at the cave wall, your mind slowly processing. You know things; words, concepts, what things are, but no memories. You don’t know your name or if you even have one.Your attempt at introspection is broken by water splashing on you, it’s dripping down from stalactites on the ceiling, onto the stalagmites…. There’s no point in getting lost in thought, especially when you’ve been dropped into an unknown place. Maybe you should look around this cave, or find a way out. What do (You) want to do?> (Write In)> Move around the cave (Where?)> Leave the cave> Look at something in particular > Try to remember something (What?)

You been calling yourself “U” in your thoughts, maybe that’s your name? It doesn’t feel like it, but it’s the only thing you can think of.“U,” U say, it echoes throughout the cave the only sound other than the echoing drips. Language… there’s something you know, at least.Digging further into the back of your mind, you find the same issue you had earlier, knowledge but no memories, at least nothing beyond the short time since you arrived. However, there is something, a feeling. Safety? Familiarity?... Dread? You try pushing deeper into it, it’s the only thing in your head. The feeling builds until…Two amber spheres, looming out of the darkness, a stale smell, a sound like a forest being ripped apart by a hurricane, immense pain. You snap back to reality, wrenching your arms upwards, the pain is still there, pulsing in your head. That was awful, but what were those spheres and that noise? Trying to remember brings that feeling back, faintly. Best to avoid thinking about it, you don’t want to experience that again.Well, if your mind is no help, you might as well do something else about your situationWhat do (You) want to do?> Move/look around the cave (Where?)> Look at something in particular (What?)> Leave the cave> ….try to remember something, again.> Do something else (Write In)There’s a second dripping noise now; your nose is bleeding…

>>6367169>>6367257The dripping of blood from your nose seems to have stopped now, most of it having fallen into the puddles and rivulets of water on the cave floor.Taking your mind off whatever just happened, you suppose you should look for some sign of an exit. Your first instinct is to look for a light; it’s the most obvious thing you can think of. That glowing cyan mist did light up a lot of the dark areas, but it’s gone now and it’s not like it was coming from anywhere in particular. Moving on, you've noticed the spot you’re standing at does seem to be lit from above by a faint light, but the way the passage bends blocks you from seeing where it’s coming from. It’s not like you could climb up anyway, the walls of the cave are at too harsh an angle and are covered in water.
>>6367338That makes you notice, the opening does seem to be where all the water in the cave is coming from, a lot of is dripping down onto the stalagmites next to you. Maybe following that will lead somewhere.Following the rivulets with your eyes, you see a pool of murky grey water in a dark corner. Walking over to it you have a closer look, it’s nearly opaque with silt but you can make out long, pale creatures swimming in it. They’re of varying size but none are bigger than your hand.Looking further to the back of the pool you see the cave wall intersects with the back of it, a couple arms lengths away. You can’t see how deep it is or if it goes back further underwater, but you can infer that it goes somewhere, since the water level isn’t getting higher. You might be able to swim through it, but it’ll be risky. (STAT DISCOVERED: Stamina – F)
>>6367339Before you try anything, you realise there’s one sign of an exit that you forgot to check. Wind. Unlike the other things, there’s nothing immediately obvious, the air is mostly still, aside from the regular disturbances from falling water. You do a quick circuit around the lit area; there’s no breeze and the air is consistently cool and humid. Nothing. You go back to the central lit area, having one last look around you do notice a couple important things. With your back to the pool, you notice ahead of you what looks like a tight passage, it hooks to the left, blocking your view through and is fairly dim, you’d go over and look, but you seem to be strangely afraid of the dark.To your right there’s a prominent overhang of rock, it goes down at quite a shallow angle and there seems to be an odd formation hang off it about halfway. The thing that caught your eye, however, is a wide gap at the base of it, leading into pitch blackness. You’ll have to push yourself to go anywhere dark enough. (STAT DISCOVERED: Will - G)Your investigation seems to have yielded some result; you have some actual choices now. What do (U) do?> You might be able to swim through that pool, but there’s no way of knowing how far it goes (Stamina DC???)> The first passage seemed promising, but maybe that’s because it’s brighter (Will DC 40)> The short and wide passage is easier to get into even if you must crawl, but the darkness, you’re not sure if you can handle it (Will DC 70)> Pick up an object, there’s pebbles near the stalagmites, and those pale things in the water (You can do this alongside another option)> Look at something specific (What?)> Try to remember again.> Do something else (Write In)(D100 for rolls)Current Stats:> Stamina - F (+7)Your attempt at recalling memories earlier has filled you with a strange courage (+5 to Will rolls) But you’re not sure how long it’ll last.> Will - G (+5) "Memories" (+5)

>>6367358>39(29+5+5) v 70 – FailThe passage under the overhang does seem more promising, with it being wider, but the pitch blackness scares you, in a way you can’t quite understand. You try to dig deeper into it, but it brings up the dangerous feeling again. Safety. Familiarity. Dre-You shake your head, it goes away. There’s something more to that but based on the headache and nosebleed earlier it’s not safe to probe into.Anyway, you need to see if you can get through that gap, it has to lead somewhere.Edging closer, right to the end of the light, you notice how dark the passageway is. It’s almost a void, the cave disappears into nothingness, the boundary between the lit and unlit area is so harsh it seems to cut into the stone. There’s something deeply wrong with this.Your arms are shaking and you feel sick. You try taking a step forward, but your foot won’t move, you’ve lost sensation in it, as if it’s become of the stone floor.Gathering yourself up you try push forward with your other leg, it seems to be working. You lift it up, move it forward slowly. It manages to get past your right leg, giving you a bit hope. Stopping for a moment, you balance on one foot. You think you might be able to do it.You lower your foot, glacially, it gets harder the closer it is to the ground, to the point of feeling like it’s stopped. It takes minutes but you manage to get one toe on the ground, then one more, then all five, then your hee-Dread.You jump back, hitting the floor with a wet smack.....That wasn’t normal, even if you can’t remember anything you still know what fear feels like. That was something more.Getting back up, you realise how close to the stalagmites you fell, almost right on top of them, you could’ve been impaled. Was it trying to kill you? The thought scares U…. hopefully you’re just being paranoid.(Some Will checks get easier with repetition, this one won’t)Wanted to get half a post done before the end of the day, I'll do the other half tomorrow
>>6367370Best to put your mind off it, picking something up should help. It’d be nice to feel like you owned something.Since you landed next to the stalagmites, you decide to pick up some of the pebbles you saw earlier.Going around collecting them, you find that they’re more jagged fragments, rather than round pebbles, but maybe that’ll make them more useful. You manage to find a few large pieces, with one having a sharp point, looks like it broke off the largest stalagmite. It’s hard to carry all of them in one hand, you can just manage it, but you’ll probably need to drop some later. You need your other hand free anyway, there’s something else you want to grab.Wandering over to the pool, you crouch down, watching those pale creatures. They lazily swim through the water, occasionally dropping out of sight as they dive down. It’s too murky to make out any details, but they seem to passive, they don’t react to each other when they touch. You ready your right hand above the water, waiting. One larger creature swims under your hand. With a splash you dive your hand into the water, your fingers closing around a thin body.Quickly pulling your hand out, you get a good look at the worm. It’s about as long as your forearm, from base to of palm to end of finger. It’s pale, off-white, with a faint reddishness inside it. There’s been no reaction to you removing the worm from its the pool so far. It hangs there limply in your grip, only squirming slightly. Seems safe enough to carry around. You move it closer to your face for a closer look, not that you think you’ll see much. No legs, no fins, slimy. Very wormlike, aside from the mouth. You turn the creature, so it faces U, looking into its mouth. Four large black fangs, surrounding a hole lined with smaller teeth. With a crack, the worm suddenly whips its neck at you. The mouth heading straight for your right eye.Without a moment to spare you close your eyes. The creature’s head smacks into your eye with considerable force.Throwing the creature to the floor, you open your eyes again. Your vision in the right one is still ok, but it hurts, there’ll be bruising.Looking down, you see the worm has gone flaccid again. It didn’t like your eyes it seems.Maybe it’s jealous.Picking the creature back up, you hold it at arm’s length, best to keep it away from your face. You can’t really think of any use for this troglodyte right now, but you might be able to eat it. If you get hungry enough. Now that you’re the owner of some rocks and a worm, you find yourself at another moment of choice.

>>6367646>>6367700>>6367724Since you can’t bring yourself to go down the pitch-black tunnel, you suppose that means your only choice is the smaller one in the cave wall. Before brave your way through, there’s something you want to try.Heading over to a dry area of the floor, you place the worm and rocks down. You sort through the stones, throwing the irregular ones aways. With some disappointment you find only the large, rock tip has a practical shape. Though, now that you’ve had a closer look, you see it’s not actually the top of a stalagmite like you thought. It’s been shaped, into a hand-length blade. Someone else was here before you.Having a sharp edge is convenient for your next idea. Holding down the troglodyte with one hand, you begin to cut into its neck. The outer skin is easy to cut into, and the worm isn’t reacting at all. Your blade starts to have trouble slicing through, you reach a rubbery internal tube, of an orange-red colour. Putting your weight into one final chop, you manage to get through.A spurt of orange fluid comes out, covering the edge of the blade. You pull the knife back, the liquid seeping out of the worm’s body, flowing into crevices and cracks on the cave floor. It begins to darken and become thicker, the flow slowing, taking on a mottled colour as it hardens. The resin has covered most of the dry are, creating a dark orange and brown patch, it’s much smoother than the surrounding floor. Fortunately, the worm’s body and head didn’t get stuck in it, both resting on top. The same has happened on the rock-knife, forming a sharp edge. [ITEM ACQUIRED: Worm-resin knife]Now that it’s dead, you pick up the head to have a closer look. The fangs flex as you bring it closer to your face, and the body squirms on the resin patch. It’s somehow still alive, with a connection remaining between the severed parts. You’ve rendered it harmless, however. You pick up the head, and look into its mouth, there’s something black blocking it. Turning it around to the cut side you can see…. a clear view?Flipping it back and forth, the discrepancy remains unchanged. You’re not sure what’s causing it. You’ll have to investigate later. The body is still squirming on the floor; you move the head away from your eye and it stops. The resin has plugged the hole, blocking any more liquid from coming out. You pick it up and squeeze, another spurt of fluid comes out, not as much as before but still a considerable amount. The creature seems to be capable of producing more of this substance, somehow. It’s becoming clearer to U how unnatural this place is.
>>6368091Best to get out of this cave then, you grab the worm parts and go over to the second passage. It’s dark, but nothing like whatever was in the overhang tunnel, you’re certain you can handle it. Steeling yourself, you step forward through the threshold, the strange fear of darkness strikes you again. You take a deep breath, calming yourself, U can do this.Continuing forward you find the tunnel hooks right, followed by a hook left, with this pattern repeating many times. Each time it turns the tunnel gets darker, filling you with more and more fear. For some reason your mind drifts back to when you tried to recall your memories. You’re worried at first, of bringing back that strange, dangerous feeling, but instead it brings something else. A new feeling, equally as strange, one of courage or…. Certainty. You stride forward confidently, the tunnel gets dark enough for you to have to move by touch, holding your collected items in one hand. The cave walls are much rougher here, with a grainy quality and completely dry. The cave floor is also getting gradually sandier. After a few more back-and-forth turns the tunnel begins to brighten, with one last right turn you find yourself in a straight corridor with wall of light at the end. It’s blinding, but you can’t seem to take your eyes of it, despite how much it hurts. It’s a blank-white glare, with glowing blue particles drifting off to the side. It makes you feel safe. It seems to be moving towards U, gradually getting closer.Something brushes your hand. You can only manage the briefest glance down. Your leg is moving on its own. You can’t feel either of them, it’s like they’re not there. The brightness draws closer now, filling your vision, there’s nothing else. Despite the pain in your eyes and lack of control over your legs, you begin to feel afraid, but something invades your mind, quelling it.You feel as if all will be well and all manner of things will be well. The light is all you can see now, it’s been so enough that you begin to think you’ve stopped, tears are streaming out of your eyes. You can hear something, a faint, slow thump. Each pulse brings a momentary clearing of the light-walls influence. You manage a brief turn of your head and shift of your legs with each one, but snap back into place as each pulse fades. The thumping grows faster and louder, your moments of lucidity getting longer. You manage to draw your arm back, flexing your fingers, curling them into a fist. The thump reaches a crescendo, your teeth grind together, you’re certain this will work….You thrust your fist forward.
>>6368092>>6368092With a thwoomp and rush of air the light shifts into a wall of darkness, the same darkness that was in the tunnel. You stumble backwards, falling to the ground.Filled with dread, you begin to scramble away, but the wall begins to rapidly dissipate from where you punched it.You sit there, panting, there’s a new light coming through the passageway now, a normal, natural light. It seems dim compared to what you just saw, but you’re grateful for that. You stand up, walking cautiously, the tunnel widens abruptly, right where the light was.Moving forward you find it leads into a wide cave, there are statues of people all around you, all interlocking with each other, most appear melded together. Some are skeletal and many have worm-resin covering their eyes. You stop to look at one, it’s of a man, intersecting through the body of a kneeling woman, he's running from something. Only his right eye is covered with worm resin and his expression is one of immense fear. These statues are incredibly lifelike, aside from the skeletons, to the point they disturb U.You continue through a clear path, towards the light. It’s blue-white and pale, worrying for a moment as you think it’s another supernatural barrier.Your worries are assuaged as you move forward and the statues begin to clear. This is the cave exit.THE SURFACEYou grin, this is the happiest you've felt in your life, however short it's been. You walk over to the cave edge. It leads out onto a slope of grey sand, that blank blue-whiteness you saw was from a thick fog that stand like a wall, the bottom of the slope dissipating into it. Wrapping above you, it blocks your view of cliff top and the sky, you can’t tell where the sun is.Looking back, you see the cave emerges out of a sheer cliff face, with the grey sand slope running along the base. The fog isn’t as thick along the cliff, allowing you to see further down both ways.To the left of the cave, the cliff curves outwards, leading into the fog. For a moment, you think there’s several people walking along the cliffside, but you soon realise they’re only more statues. They’re at regular intervals, seemingly all part of a solemn march. To the right, the cliff curves, out of view, you notice several large chunks of shattered rock. What looks like a much longer slope, looms out of the fog.

>>6369513Standing atop the slop, you mull over your choicesThe fog is too risky, and U can always come back to the left path or the tunnel.Getting to high ground should be your priority, you’ll be able to figure out where you are if you get above the fog. Once you’ve done that you can start exploring the rest of this place. You trudge over to the right side of the cave exit, your feet sinking into the dark-grey sand. You look up from your feet as you reach the cave-wall. There are a few statues sunken into the sand there, stragglers from the larger mass further in. You stop to look at a young girl, buried up to her shoulders, her arms cast upwards. She’s smiling. Neither of her eyes are covered, unlike many of the others. There’s something unnerving about these statues, you’ll have to give them a closer look if you come back later.Hugging the cave-wall as you exit, you begin to make your way around the cliff. The fallen rocks have begun to appear, smaller than the ones you saw further along, but flat enough to be used as stepping stones.Your pace is sped up by this, and you get into a rhythm of hopping from stone to stone."SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee…eeeeeee…eeeeee…eee……...*You freeze.A pained, high-pitched cry is ringing out from the fog.You whip your head around, looking for the source of it.There's no sign of where it's coming from, just the wall of pale-blue. The sound fades, echoing. You couldn’t tell if it was a human or some kind of animal. There was an odd operatic quality to it, as if someone was holding a note. If U had hair, it would be standing on end.Whatever it is was, it's gone now, and it hasn’t come towards you. You suppose it’s a good sign that least there’s something else alive out here, but…… it sounded like it was in pain. The thought worries you. Another living creature would be a nice thing to see, but there’s no guarantee it’d be friendly. Pushing your fears away, you take one last look around, the coast appears to be clear. You begin walking, slowly, trying to be quiet. No more hopping. This pace allows you to take a closer look at the rocks, most are rough and worn, some have smooth, cleaved surfaces, presumably where they broke off the cliff. They’re beginning to get larger as you go around. Something about one of the cloven rocks makes you pause. There’s a human skeleton fused inside it, curled up. A fossil? That makes U think, humans have been here a long time, it'd be good to meet one.You don’t like being out in the open, not with something in the fog, you move on.The rocks are bigger now, big enough for you to hide between them as you creep forward, relieving some of your fear. You’re beginning to see glimpses of the slope, slowly appearing out of the fog, and something much larger beyond it.
>>6370539Taking a few more strides, you find yourself slope-side, between two large rocks. You steady yourself with your knife-hand as you gaze around. The slope is a grey-black flow of sand, emerging out of the fog between a gap in the cliff. Promising for your hopes of high ground, but the sand is much finer than the stuff you’ve been walking on, it’ll be difficult to walk up, and you’re not very graceful. (STAT DISCOVERED: Finesse – Z)That looming shape was the other cliff-side, from where you’re standing it’s mostly obscured by fog but you can just make out the basic shape. It’s lower than the one you’re standing next to, allowing to just make out the top, a straight line leading to a rounded off point. Would’ve been a good vantage point if it wasn’t so enshrouded. For a second you see something moving there, putting you at alert.…..A longer look dismisses your fear, this fog ripples and curls in strange ways, playing tricks on your eyes.Glancing downwards you see the slope leads out into the fog, gradually flattening out of view. Part of it curves around the far cliff, dropping significantly. Looking round your cliffside, you can see the slope reaches far up into the fog, giving U some hope it’ll get you to higher ground. It does also lead onto the lower cliff edge, and even if there’s no chance of a view there could be something up there.Up or down or some other direction, you need to head somewhere. What do (U) do?> Go up, but only until you reach the lower cliff-top, you’ll have to cross the slope, without anything to hold onto it’ll be somewhat tricky (Finesse DC 40)> Go up, but all the way, hugging the cliff face should give you enough support, but with how loose the sand is, it’ll be tiring (Stamina DC 70)> Go across the slope, to the cliff-base, the slope is flat enough to not be an issue, and that harsh downward curve makes you curious> Go down, into the fog, it has a certain draw to it, even with what you’ve heard (3D100, preferably 3 anons, but not required)> Head back to the cave> Pick up/drop an object, you'll be able to hold something else, as long as it's small (What?)> Look at something specific (What?)> Try to remember something again.> Do something else, your world is opening up after all (Write In)Ur Current (Known) Stats:> Stamina - F (+7)> Will - G (+5) "Fading Memories" (+3)That strange courage is beginning to fade, but at least your head is starting to feel better> *NEW STAT* Finesse – Z (+3)Ur Current Property:x1 Worm-Resin Edged Stoneknifex1 Troglodyte Worm Headx1 Troglodyte Worm Body

You are being pulled back to yourselves. The pull grows stronger, skin tears, bones break, organs pop, the march continues. You are at your limit, U can go no further, his body rent. Our fate is sealed.Despite this, you continue forward, the light draws you, is it a friend? That’s what you’re here for. Your only hope. You push, not with flesh, but something else, pulled out by this fog.The push launches you across the sand, leaving your other selves behind, the shreds of your body being forced back into place. With one last jolt of pain, you are complete. You are U.……. Your mind is in such a daze that it takes you several minutes to realise you’re lying face-first in the sand with your eyes shut. You exhale, a numbness leaving your body. The fog appears to be coalescing into a solid stream, flowing into some kind of glowing patch mid-air.It’s constantly writhing with cyan and white ripples, surrounding some kind of purple opening which is much more solid than the rest of the structure. You catch a green glow coming out of it, but only for a moment. No people, disappointing. You’ll have to looks for friends later. You stand up, dust yourself off and review your options regarding this thing. What do (U) do?> Have a look in that hole, it’s solidly defined unlike the blurry glow of the rest of the structure, maybe there’s something in it.> Touch the glowing edge, what’s the worst that can happen?> Walk into the fog stream, after what happened to U in the fog, you don’t think walking into a solid mass of it is a good idea.> Go back into the fog, this thing might be a risk, and it’s certainly not a friend, there are more opportunities in the fog (Roll 3D100)> Try to find your way out of the fog, you don’t want to be here anymore (Roll 2D100, 1 for WILL DC 30, 1 for something else)

(+4 to Write-In Will rolls)You stride across the sand, to the front of the glowing thing. You then stop, your moment of confidence interrupted by sheer confusion; you have no idea what you’re looking at.The purple hole leads into some kind of…… tube. It’s hard to tell, the concentric walls of it keep shifting and turning, leading out of sight. At least that what you think is happening. The way it turns doesn’t line up with the fog stream behind it, the hole leads somewhere else. You stand there bewildered, for a few minutes, mesmerized by the twists and turns. You’re starting to get the right perspective. But then something changes, the ringed walls line up, forming a long passage. You can see green at the end.The walls contract, rushing towards you.You jump back far, surprising yourself, but the contraction slows, the green thing has stopped right at the entrance. (STAT DISCOVERED: Agility – Z Minus (+2))It’s so blurry, that it takes you a second to realise what you’re seeing. It’s a jungle. There are trees and bushes, and brown soil. You move, the perspective shifts, it’s not a painting or picture. You can smell earth and moisture, and feel hot, humid air.You stand there in disbelief, is this really a doorway to somewhere else?Stepping as close as U can, you reach out, you hand meets a tough membrane, but you see nothing. With some frustration, you push harder, the blurriness around your hand distorts. (STAT DISCOVERED: Strength – Z (+3))You drop your hand, another shift is happening in the hole, the walls extend outwards again, turning downwards. As you stare, the turn rotates around the edge, reaching the top. It straightens out and retracts towards you.Another place is before you, a city, grey and cloudy. Boxy, short buildings surround enormous sky scrapers, which look like seashells. There’s a disgusting smell; blood and rot, sweat and mucus. You gag and are glad when another turn starts.A sunny beach, blue ocean stretching off into a horizon. You only get a faint smell of saltwater before it turns again, faster.Too fast, you get a glimpse of white, then blue, then green again. After that black, orange, and grey. You can barely see them. It’s building to something, U can tell. You don’t have much time; you’ll need to decide quickly.

>>6372005>>6372053>>6372400The worldhole’s shifting has stabilised at a slower pace now, giving you a good look at the locations you missed. You consider your options, the orange and white locations seem too abstract, and there’s no way you’re going to the pitch black one. The beach would’ve been your first choice, with how sunny it is, but you can’t really see anything beyond a small bit of sand. That leaves the city and jungle, both promising, it’s hard for you to choose.A grumble in your stomach chooses for you. A city means people, and where there’s people, there’s food.U had wondered if U needed to eat. It’s strange how much knowledge you have without knowing anything about yourself, even something as basic as requiring food.It doesn’t matter, now is the time for action, the worldhole is speeding up.You walk back a short distance and get yourself into a crouch-start, as best you can on the soft sand, watching the portal shift from world-world.Green, blue, grey. Black, orange, white. Repeating. You’ve got the pattern; you just need to get the timing right AND hit with enough force to break the membrane.Tensing your body, you stare. Blue, Grey. Blue, Grey. Blue.Gre-You stumble, barely catching yourself, there’s something shifting in the sand behind you. You try to turn to look, but a paralysing fear shoots through your body.A wooden creak, the same one you heard in the cave. It’s brought that strange dread with it as well this time, but you can feel none of the safety it came alongside. The same happened when you tried to enter that dark tunnel. What is behind U?With immense effort you manage to turn your head to the left. On the very edge of your peripheral vision, you see a thin, leafless branch stretch out and twist. A faint amber light dances on it. Those spheres……Impotent rage bubbles inside you.Why are you following me? What the hell are you? Did you bring me here? For what purpose? Do you know who I am?Endless question flow through your mind, but no words leave your mouth. The creaking comes to a stop, whatever this thing is, it doesn’t want to speak with you.It seems content leaving you crouching there, watching U. The portal has begun to shift faster; you’re going to miss your chance.Suddenly, another sound starts, a rapid thumping on the sand, to your right, quickly getting closer. It stops a few meters away, scraping to a halt. Sand flies over you. There’s a deep, resonant, breathing….. an animal? It sounds oddly human. Is it here to help? The creature begins one long shuddering breath, there’s a moment of silence as it peaks, then….“SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghghglg….”A deafening scream, you jolt to forward a few inches, losing sight of the branch. It transforms into a horrible choking sound, before petering out entirely. This thing is not friendly.
>>6373446You begin to feel real fear; not the unnatural kind that’s been forced on you. That stupid tree thing has got U stuck here, with a monster that’s probably going to eat U. You start to sweat. The creature begins a series of short, aggressive pants. Before erupting into a cacophony of snarls and gibbering noise, punctuated by a sharp snap and deep pop. It sounds like it’s speaking, but you can’t discern anything understandable. It’s getting closer and closer, kicking more sand on you as it rages. You hear the noise of wood bending; the creature’s focus seems to be on the tree-thing, and the tree-thing’s focus seems to be on it. A small boon for U. The paralysis is lightening. You managed to inch your foot forward.A powerful snap causes you to jolt again. The creature’s jabbering abruptly stops, you hear the shifting of sand, it sniffs twice. Then the hissing starts. You’re trembling now, willing your body to step forward, your head still stuck to the left, the paralysis is nearly gone but you can’t bring yourself to look at that thing. It’s getting nearer, and louder, you can feel it’s breath on your shoulder, stinking of dried blood. Your heart thumps in your chest. Is this where you die?The world hole shimmers, lighting up the fog, a distinct grey glow. This is your chance.*THWOOMP* You launch yourself across the dark sand.*THWOOMP* The monster jumps too.A snap and pop right behind your head.Your feet meet the ground; A swipe of air runs across your calves. You dash forward, something big hits the ground to your left, you feel the impact.Your eyes are locked on the hole, the blurry skyline drawing you forward.A few more strides and you jump into the membrane, headfirst. It stretches, farther than you thought, extending the ringed walls of the hole, suspending you between worlds. It tears, the ringed walls contract, shooting you through into……THE CITYYour stomach turns, you’re falling, a red glow surrounds you.The ground rushes towards you.
>>6373452…..……….……………….…….*drip*……*drip*….You’re in the cave again. Water falling onto stone. A small girl with black hair runs towards you, arms outstretched.Another arm reaches out of the darkness, shoving you through the cave mouth, into a blinding light….*drip*Your eyes snap open, a corrugated metal wall stares back at you, your head hurts and your vision is blurry. It takes U a moment to orientate yourself, you’re lying flat on the ground, on rough, gravelly asphalt.Trying to push yourself up, pain shoots through your arms and you collapse.Groaning, you take a moment to collect yourself. With great effort, you roll over, revealing you to be in a dim alley, two walls of corrugated steel enclose you. Ahead it leads to a well-lit open area you can’t quite make out. The back end is easier to make out, a shadowy wall, made of large stone blocks, grimy and cracked. The alley turns at right angle, out of sight.*drip*That noise? U thought U dreamt it. A boxy object hangs of the left wall, your vision is still too blurry to see what it is, but you can see water dripping from it, down to a puddle. You strain your head round to look, watching the water flow along the wall, when you notice something, the alleyway has gotten brighter. Something is lighting it from above. You look up and see….. The sun. Shining between clouds. A welcome sight.Lying there, staring, your head begins to clear, and your vision with it. A sky-scraping spire comes into focus. It must be one of the seashell-towers you saw through the wordhole, there’s another one peaking above the back-wall.The thought of the worldhole causes a pang of fear, if it’s still open the creature could’ve followed you.Snapping your head back and forth, you look for any sign of the portal. Nothing. You breathe a sigh of relief.By this point you’ve mostly recovered from the fall, allowing you to stand up. Brushing yourself down, you inspect the damage, bruises and grazes on your arm, and a lump your head that might’ve already been there. Not that bad, considering you were about to be eaten not too long ago. There is one oddity, an inexplicable mark on your back. You’re not flexible enough to get a clear view of.It doesn’t hurt, so you suppose it’s probably nothing to worry about. Now that you’re done checking yourself over, you figure you should get a closer look at what’s around you.
>>6373453The water you looked at before is dripping from a boxy vent; a fan buzzes away inside. On the other wall, right next to you, is a white flexible tube. It pumps away continuously, a green goo dripping out of a tear. It’s congealed along the base of the steel wall, resembling mould or algae. It grosses U out. Backing away you feel something brush your foot. It’s your knife and worm parts. U forgot about those, they’re your only property, U should try to keep them safe.As you lean down to pick them up, you see a small furry creature drop down the back-wall and scurry off around the corner. You wonder where it’s going. That draws your attention to the left wall, it’s emitting faint noises. Putting your ear against it, you hear pumps and machinery, backed by animalistic squeals.Interesting.Turning towards the alley-exit, you look out into the open area, it looks like a town square of some sort, leading out towards the base of the seashell spire. Speaking of, now that you’ve got a better view of it, you can see how truly enormous it is. It dwarfs all the smaller box-shaped buildings around it, reaching almost to the clouds. There’s what looks like veins running up, all the way to the top. What a strange place, hopefully there are some people here, that’s why you wanted to come here in the first place. Your stomach grumbles. Or maybe finding food was. It doesn’t matter; they’ll probably be in the same location.Time to review your options. What do (U) do?> Head out into the open, square area> Go back into the alley, around the right-angle turn> Look at something in particular> Drop something> Do something else (Write-In)

>>6373598>>6373453The spire dominates your thoughts; it’s the biggest object you’ve seen so far. There’s really no other choice than heading towards it.Anyway, a desire for food is driving U out of the alleyway, you’d doubt you’d find any wherever it leads. Unless you wanted to eat rats…..…….…... Actually, you’re completely willing to eat them, it appears you don’t have any real scruples about food. Except bugs, you don’t like bugs, hopefully there aren’t any here. You’re getting distracted, the hunger is getting to you.\Time to move. You amble out of the alley; the asphalt drops onto an enormous slab of pale stone beneath your feet. There’s more of them ahead, and to the sides, they surround the spire, creating a completely flat area.Looking back, you see the alleyway connects to a path, leading out past a row of boxy metal buildings. They’re of varying sizes and shapes but they still look strangely uniform, all being made of corrugated steel, with few defining features, some not even having doors. Does any even live here? The thought disquiets you.Turning your gaze to the far ends, you can see streets on either side, leading off between rows of box-buildings, heading out of sight. You turn back towards the spire, the wind picks up from your left, bringing with it the same awful smell of rot and blood you smelt through the worldhole.Covering your nose, you manage to stop yourself from gagging this time, if this city hadn’t had the promise of people being here you wouldn't have picked it. So far that promise doesn’t look like it’s going to be met.The foul wind drops, you continue towards the spire. You feel as if you’re being careless, walking in a wide-open area like this. Even if you see someone, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be friendly. There could be monsters here too.A sudden darkness interrupts your worrying, you're in the shadow of the spire now, almost at the base. Standing here makes you feel like a speck of dust. You compared it to a seashell before, but now that you’re this close you can tell that the spire is a giant spike of bone. Thick veins wrap around it, pulsing slowly, forming a webbed network, they’re big enough that you could fit inside them. You wonder if they’re edible. You’ve been so focused on the spire that you failed to notice the two spikes sticking straight up, out metal patches, on other side of you. Both have a spire-vein wrapping around them, connected to a grey tank near the tip, of which smaller tubes are hanging off. U can just make out a metal hatch at the base of each one, the spire has no visible entrance, perhaps they lead into it.You stay in the spire’s shadow for a short while. It’s majestic, in a slightly horrific way......……You’ve stood here long enough; you got a bevy of options for where to go.What do (U-

A big one, nearly as big as you. It’s hovering there, several meters away from you. Staring at you with blank red eyes.Just looking at it makes you nervous. It seems, in addition to being afraid of the dark, that you’re afraid of bugs as well.Standing there, knife-ready, you begin to step backwards, hoping to get away from this disgusting creature. You manage a few paces, before the dragonfly forward. Blindly, you swing your blade, for a good mintue. It takes you a while to realise it’s gone.Anxiously, you look around for the insect. You find it atop the right-hand spike, sucking on a tube, has it impaled itself? You can see greenish goop dripping down the spike-tip, it’s still moving though.Of course, the world U ended up in would have giant bugs, just your luck. You suppose you’ll just have to deal with it. >>6374502>>6374783>>6374796The eery silence is getting to U.You’d expect there to be people here, even in a city as strange as this one. But your only company is the bug, perched atop the bonespike. You look at it, it stares back. You grimace and turn away. That's set your mind, you’ve got to find someone, hopefully they’ll be able to explain what the hell this place is. Your best bet is the buildings edging this area. There has been one that keeps catching your eye. Or rather, the ruins of oneEven from here U can tell it's nothing like the others, much older and made of something other than corrugated steel. It also happens to be in the opposite direction of the bug, which is a positive. With some haste you begin walking, towards the left side of the spire, taking brief glances behind you, to monitor the dragonfly. As you get closer, you start to see the area behind the spire.Another square, but with no buildings. The edge is exposed dirt, instead of asphalt, with it starting right where the old ruin you’re heading to is.There’s another wall in the distance; beyond it you can see more spires.U hear a faint thrumming, somewhere behind U, the dragonfly. You snap your head around. It’s not on the spike anymore.Following the sound, you see it zip through the air, towards the left street, before disappearing over the buildings. You’re glad it’s gone. Still, you wonder what it was doing, and where it was going. Perhaps to another spire.Something to investigate later, if you have the chance. You proceed onwards, reaching the out-of-place ruin.A thin wood wall, surrounded by a rim of thick packed earth with a pile rubble of in the centre. It marks the beginning of a patch of dry soil that extends along the rest of the perimeter wall. Whatever this thing was, it must’ve been built a long time ago.You were going to head straight to it but you did want to find people, and there are a couple regular buildings right next to you. They’re not any different from the others, they do, however, have relatively easy access points. The larger one having a simple pull door, whereas the smaller building has a vertical sliding one.Neither are as immediately interesting as the ruin, but they’ll have higher of having people inside, or food, you are still hungry after all. They’ll also be safer if any threats come along.Time to choose. What do (U) do?> Investigate the ruin, it might have answer to this place’s past> Go into the larger building, with the pull door, it’s separated into two parts, with one having windows> Go into the smaller building, with the sliding door, it’ll be mildly difficult to open, but more secure (Strength DC 30)> Head off to somewhere else (Refer to previous choices)> Do something else (Write In, you can modify other options if you want).....Somethings been nagging at U, a pinching feeling in your back. >>6375465>>6375244U take a step towards the ruin, but a sharp pain in your back makes you pause, something is definitely coming.Turning, you gaze across the square, looking a sign of anything heading towards you. Nothing.Perhaps it’d be a better idea to go for somewhere more secure. The smaller building seems like your best bet.Walking up to the sliding door, you crouch down and grab the handle. This’ll require some force; you should be able to handle it. You begin to pull, straining your arms as the door screeches and grinds. Managing to get it about a quarter of the way up, you can just see a wheel attached to some kind of vehicle. That’s as high as U can get, your arms are shaking, and you can feel your grip loosening. It’s too much for you to handle, you let go and the door slams back into the asphalt. You’re disappointed and slightly embarrassed. That vehicle has gotten you curious.Oh well. You can always try again, and even if you can’t manage to pull it up all the way, you’re pretty sure you could slip under while it’s partially open, you might get stuck inside though. And there’s always the other buildings as backup options, after all. Before you decide what to do, you notice the pinching feeling has gotten worse, your attempt at opening the door distracted you. It’s not really a pinch anymore, it's more like the feeling of someone grabbing at U.Reaching around your hand touches a hard, rough surface. It shifts beneath your fingers.Fear shoots through you, was that mark more than a bruise? Desperately you flail around, trying to throw it off.You start to scratching at it when a rumbling starts. It's coming from over the wall, far way, causing a loud rattling in the metal buildings and you can see the veins around the bonespikes flailing around.Standing up, you steady yourself against the door. The rumble is getting stronger; it must be an earthquake. You can barely able to keep yourself upright. Fingers digging into your back, a darkness looms in your mind. You close your eyes.Suddenly, a gigantic thumping sound begins, It's coming from the spire. The others join it in an asynchronous chorus. The tremor comes to an abrupt stop and with it the sensation on your back.Opening your eyes, you flick them around. The buildings near you are still intact, but U can see some further down have collapsed.More importantly the spire is still standing with its veins pulsing away, you wouldn’t want to be near it when it falls. You’re not sure what just happened, but at least your safe, and that unpleasant feeling has stopped. Despite that, you feel as if you should act with haste, this place may not be stable, and it’s almost as if the mark was warning you of that. What do (U) do?> (Refer to previous post)

You can’t eat a car.Shoulders slouched, you look around, figuring out where you should go instead. The only real option is the wide building you passed over. The door’ll be easier to open, anyway. You stroll over, pausing as you grab the handle. Have you done this before? It feels like you have…But you ‘re certain you haven’t……...…..U know the name for this, Déjà vu….......An inexplicable feeling of familiarity….You sigh, this building has something strange in it, doesn’t it? It better be edible. With some trepidation, you tug the door open.A waft of stale air blows in your face, carrying the smell of fresh blood. You stand there, stiff as a board, waiting for a monster to jump out at you.Nothing comes.Guess it’s time to start your inspection. The room’s dark, not dark enough to inhibit U, but that’s with the door open, it’ll be a different story if it’s shut.Your eyes haven’t adjusted to it yet, so all you can make out are two light sources. The first is, a malformed lightbulb lying on the floor, with a.… bug attached to it…. You can’t seem to escape them in this world.Never mind, the other one comes from a flat, angled counter. It glows dully, and you can see blurry shapes flicker and shift across it.You wait for your eyes to adjust, giving you some time to think. U wonder if you truly have a past, if maybe U simply appeared in that cave, and that your entire life consists of the last few hours and nothing more. No, you choose not to believe that. There will be a way for U to figure out who U are.Your eyes are done adjusting now, and you can see how messy the room is. A huge vein lies draped across a table and onto the floor, bleeding into a corner.Plates and cutlery litter the ground, still filled with…. Food! You stop yourself from jumping straight in, you need to check the entire room out first, you still have that questionable feeling about this place. To the left there’s another counter, a cabinet, blood is splattered on the floor next to it and you can see an odd, sectioned tray filled with more food.A row of plants grows from above, hanging down. At the back is a third counter, a bizarre device atop it, alongside two trays filled with things you can’t quite make out.And finally, a door, on the back wall. It must lead to the windowed section, as well as an upstairs room based on the height of the building. You’re not sure what kind of building this is, but there are clear signs of recent inhabitation. Could someone still be here? You doubt it, but you’re getting a gut-feeling there is.You’ll have to weigh the risks, you suppose.
