2nd thread for the space Nation rolaplay game!

We have space to accept a few new players, but mostly to take over nations of players who quit. (substantial alterations permitted obviously)

For some context on how the game is ran: it't has a supporting excel sheet and unlike most NRPs which follow a linear nation-growth curve SpaceNRP seeks to focus the unreasonable scale with space by being built around growth.

Discord link: https://discord.gg/7eJPc2dbt

Thread 1: >>6446706

I'd usually start a new thread only after the first one drops of the board, however with /sup/tg no longer allowing direct links that'd basically make thread 1 completely inaccessible if players of QMs needed to double check anything.

Exploration Fleet Action: Explore the rogue planet “near” the Grace system.

>Action 1 [Construct a 40,8 Pop, 163,2 Production input Volatile Industry (investing 408 pops and 1632 production) around the Human Habitat System’s Gas Giant. Expected Output: 4080 Volatiles + 1224 (Economy of Scale)]

With the Energy, Metal, and Production sectors having experienced great growth in the past century one resource has been sorely left behind. Volatiles. Now that New Horizon has entered a new stage of interstellar growth with multiplanet expansion it has been deemed necessary to secure this resource so that more colonies can be completed and new ships can be brought online. Such as the Horizon System’s newest great project. The–

>Action 2 [Construct the Grand Armada (War Fleet) Investing 2500 Production, 2500 Volatiles, 2500 Metals for a Fleet Power of 250]

While the caretakers can rest assured that planet-bound biodomes are safely secured behind planetary defenses there is still the issue that much of New Horizon’s industries are interstellar– from asteroid mines to supercomputers, gas giant extraction to solar panel arrays, without a way to defend these sights our nation can be starved and obliterated. And that's not even to mention we are now spread over two systems and have ambitions for many more. So with this situation the Horizon System has authorized the construction of a mass fleet of warships to defend our territory. While it is expected most of these ships will wait in standby, unable to be fully staffed or deployed, it is hoped that should the worst come, the number of ships, a showcase of our industrial capabilities, will scare off potential enemies. And should our ships meet annihilation, we will always have more in reserve.

>Exploration Fleet Action: Further Analysis of that system Required

The report from the closest Red-Star System mentioned much in the way of Minerals, Volatiles and Projected energy extractables; but it failed to mention anything much further about the system's rocky worlds. The exploration fleet is commanded to give these two planets closer and more detailed scans to produce details of their orbital zone; average light, temperature and atmospheric readings, and to check for any more interesting factors that these worlds may or may not possess.

>Action 1: Cybernetic Implant: Supplementary Bionic Respirators
Gas exchange through Mantle-Siphon Pumping across an internal gill may have functioned well enough to satisfy the crudities of Evolution of an Octopoid form, but with technology we can move beyond this limiting factor that has kept us bound to the waters of our home Biosphere. As such, we develop Supplementary Bionic Respirators to allow ourselves to survive in a far greater range of environs of altered or limited oxygen availability, and also to protect against the risk of Atmospheric toxins or biological contaminant.

>Action 2: Cybernetic Implant: Mechadendrites
Though the Tentacle-Arms of a Sulub individual are fairly adequate at many tasks when used in coordination, the arrival of the population of 'Booster' Humans has demonstrated to us many of the grasping and manipulating advantages that the fingered ends of their own limbs possess. Accordingly, our cybernetic researchers work to replicate, adapt and make suitable Cybernetic tendril systems the Booster arrivals bought with them named 'Mechadendrites', in order to allow any individual Sulub's tentacle to be further specialised toward that Sulub's job function through cybernetic enhancement and implantation.

Scouting report - Unlikely coincidence

WIth quarantine finally broken, the exploration fleet has uncovered something that aligns well with their processors but not their experiences up to this point.
4 worlds, one close to the sun, small and rocky. Another two theoretically capable of supporting life but have moons in unstable orbits above which accounts for their lack of ecosystems and atmosphere. Scans reveal that the final gas giant sized planet does indeed have a mostly gas atmosphere but there are also four moons in orbit.Analysis indicates that there is exactly one moon per planet in this system. The amount of hypotheses attempting to explain this have overloaded all computational processes within our exploration fleet. Thus we have referred to this system as the “Unstable” system.
(Gained 20 discovery! There is no trace here of any life nor any wormholes. That gas giant is somehow familiar to our databanks, a more focused expedition might reveal more)

Lurking Report - Someone’s House

Our fleet arrived in the indicated blue star system, immediately engaging stealth fields upon approach. This proved to be the correct decision: the system is inhabited by an automated resource/defense system. Ships are observed via FTL to another star on a multi-per cycle basis, it is possible that they have colonized other worlds OR that they have contact with ANOTHER ALIEN RACE. This is highly probable, as we ourselves know the GORMINION.

We have also observed a small amount of bio-organic signatures located within the heart of this system. The planet in question is HEAVILY defended with 90% of the surface being covered with a massive defensive network, we are unable to gain detailed scans of it as traffic to/from the surface is too high. It is our hypothesis that these must be the leaders/organizers of this expansive network. Within we can likely find the command/control nodes that enable us to bend the automated network.

However, we can find no evidence that the bio-organisms are ever without escort by automated defenses. This must be a truly paranoid race to have their guardians/servants so close to them at all times.
(News of the new civilization at the head of a massive automated network has unnerved the people, lose 5 spirit. Gained 20 discovery. We have gained signals intelligence that will make infiltration easier, though we can find no opportunities to do so…yet)

Capitalizing on the recent discovery of Organics, the Dvalinn commission construction of a bio-waste recycling facility to convert some of the waste of their massive population into organic material, to fuel continued cloning. Now that antimatter is being employed to store energy, scientists begin researching practical military applications for the technology. Computation bottlenecks delay the inauguration of the Department of Diplomacy, and therefore negotiations with the neighboring avian empire are yet to be finalized.

The brightest days in history has come to the Hiirlai, figuratively and literally. We have made contact with other civilisations, and they are accepting, open to us, meanwhile our economy never ceases to boom. It is also literal with the Golden Program showing brightly lit landscapes, ones that make Hiiso's days look dim in comparison. But that also drives a pang of sadness, that we thought our home warm and bright, only to learn we were stuck in a dark and dingy corner. But living in Hiiso is still the gentlest, thanks to all the infrastructure.

>Work Allocation: Move 5 from Entertainer to Order.

>Action 1: Vitae Jacket. Cybernetics tech, 1k Computation. An advanced undersuit controlled through the MMI to keep you alive.
While Kultai 1 is a safer planet, that doesn't mean it's free of danger, it just comes from the darndest things. While early astronauts were highly trained, now even regular people can go to space. These people get lazy, they miss details, a small bit of damage eventually leads to a suit breach, or they set the temperature wrong and get heatstroke in the middle of a mission. All of these accidents eventually leads to the development of a new undersuit, that gives full feedback to the wearer and can even regulate things previous suits couldn't. The amount of data and control is too much for a regular interface, but the new Mind-Machine-Interface proves perfect, with people coming to know this undersuit like a second skin. This undersuit proves its worth when one pioneer got shot 37 times by criminals, yet managed to survive, thanks to the suit not only sealing its breaches, but plugging the bulletholes as well. This earned it the nickname Vitae Jacket. This device can be sure to prevent death from anything but catastrophic damage (a bullet to the head will still do you in).

>Action 2: Valkoihaara Solar. Solar Industry around Pronta (home star), 1 280 Metal and 320 (/4 = 80) Pop input for 3.2k (+30% = 4.16k) Energy output.
With the manpower demand of Suomu Offshore satisfied, Valkoihaara Solar can resume their work. Amassing vast quantities of material in orbit, they set about building their solar collectors, as well as habitats for workers. Though they are surprised at the projections on the amount of work needed, the manpower requirement will be satisfied immediately. The Valkoihaaralai thus upsize the build, to take advantage of the work surplus yet still enough for the demand to be immediately satisfied. This will surely dethrone Kupu Atomics' dominance in the energy sector.

>Exploration: Survey the black hole system south of Pronta.
With contact made with our two neighbours to the east, the Heartlanders are happy, but the Beyonders want to know more of the cosmos. Thus their next stop is not a solar system, but a black hole one. They are curious regarding the way this black hole works, perhaps they will gleam some secret from it.

-------------------------------

While tensions start to cool a bit, the Mirmarians have chosen to focus inward a bit so they could extend further outward than ever before with a great expedition in the works, just needing to be set up. Though, the news of mechanical augmentations by the socialists is cause for concern, even if it's proof that they desire cold, unthinking robots to a real Harunko with a real soul. It is only a matter of time before they all become brains trapped in metal cages at this rate isn't it? Still, the Mirmarian empire would have it's shot at getting it's own major edge over the Yulis soon...Though it was a shock how effective the communists have been since space started to be properly colonized...

>Action One. First Expeditionary Fleet.
With the military base that Yulis set up, and various tensions starting to cool down, combined with the encounter and first contact with aliens not too long ago, the desire for deterrence is greater than ever before. And the best deterrence is a big enough stick to ward anyone off. As such, extensive shipbuilding programs see the Mirmarian Stellar Navy surge in size as ship after ship is built. As such, with so many forces, a new fleet is created, called the First Expeditionary Fleet. Mostly made up of lighter vessels, the fleet is mainly designed for discovery, partially in the hopes of finding and engaging in trade and diplomacy with other aliens. Besides, it would be quite important to engage in these expeditions before the reds manage to deliver their poisoned words to those who are unaware, especially given these aliens might think we are all part of the same government.

>Action Two. Decryption.
A while back an alien artifact was discovered on one of our worlds. Unfortunately, it is encrypted, which means there is probably something important hidden away just waiting for us to crack open and make use of. If nothing else it'll at least help E.V.I.E in dealing with D.Y.N.E by getting us better decryption software, but ideally this will allow us to get quite the treasure-trove of military designs, weapons, engines, or something that could help aid our military forces for any skirmishes or potential spats with the communist's...Or aliens, for that matter.

>ACTION1: Research Hypermemetics warfare(Find a way to physically kill the dreamplague by entering the human noosphere)

A practice that was forgotten, yet used very often during the war out of necessity. The danger of weaponized memes is their ability to simply impose themselves in a man's Id with him being none the wiser. For that reason the best way to fight back against them is one of two things

The first is propaganda, to push back against the meme. However, psionically enhanced or engineered memes are so absolute that they can be very hard to counter in this way unless using very specific mnemonics and mental constructs.

The second, and the one the Order of Techne's researchers in a joint exercise with Wise Men were looking into is to physically enter the human noosphere and blast whatever anomaly is there to bits. The problem is less doing that and more doing this while minimizing collateral damage and accidentally making vegetables out of random people.

The best training so far is something akin to an AI sandbox, where a portion of the noosphere is isolated inside of a compound and soldiers with high willpower and sent to train inside for the eventual operation.

>ACTION2: Hephastus HyperConstruct(1900 computation building taking most of the space inside and outside one of Hephaestus' moon. 380 energy, 190 metals and 38 psi)

With the appearance of aliens at the edge of the Solar System, the Order of Techne is once more scrambling as they realize that the efforts to scale Terra's industry were simply not enough. One notable problem lies in the area of research. It is slow and tedious, the current tools wholly insufficient for the ambitions of Mankind should it truly ascend beyond barely surviving as a space civilization. To that end, one of Hephaestus' moons is sacrificed to make a gigantic Construct, a laboratory and research center of proportions not seen since before the War. Entire lavatunnels and valleys turned into space for datacenters and particle colliders, with every single rare and sophisticated tool one could dream up. Working here is an engineer's wet dream, and thankfully for the modern man living in Techne territory, jobs are gonna be open for a long time

>Action 1: Webshale Planetary Hypercortex: 1600 energy and 400 metal on the rogue planet for 15000 computing

Every surface across Webshalle is scoured and flattened down, perhaps as revenge for the stonecurse, moulded into a smooth and featureless orb. Foundations are laid, concrete and metal laid over, and circuitry and wires and banks of computational nodes come to dominate the surface. Save for the few utopian bubble dome colony cities that dot its surface, the entire world is consumed, swallowed up by thrumming computers and lightspeed data cables and heat interchange fans that blast thermal energy out into the darkness of this atmosphere-less rock.

A great ring is built miles high, across the equator of the world, and then another intercepting it, and six more, a hyperway for the scattered thoughts of the great machine to unify and coalesce into usable output, and for maintenance droids to skitter and maintain at least 93% functionality at any one time. This is perhaps the mightiest computation apparatus ever devised, able to simulate and solve near any question that could be asked of it.

The Starstorms look upon their horrifying work and really hope it won’t turn evil and try to kill everyone. Luckily it has no production facilities to make use of if it did choose to do that.

>Action 2: Torquetoo Solar Harvesters: 260 pop and 1040 metals to make 3250 energy

An endless array of solar collection satellites, they soak up solar power and beam it across the system to wherever it might be needed at any one time. Specially designed craft can operate entirely without reactors within Torquetoo, so long as a fitting receiver is attached, able to travel under ion impulse as their batteries are kept permanently topped up.

Action 1. Stellar Grade Tractor Arrays- Tractor arrays are something that is of great use to Gorm society. However, there's a problem with them. How short ranged they are. While Tractors on personal and even some few vehicular scaled have a use, they ability to scale them up to be useful in space has been extremly costly. The expansion of the array to affect stellar distances effectively made them too bulky, fragile and costly to be of actual use to the Hegemony. This has changed, with the novel configurations of Dark matter allowing a heterodynamic graviton field to expand vastly further in scope for comparatively little cost and room. While this is too large for personal scale tractor arrays, it still allows ship and even some stations to have tractors equipped now, vastly expanding a slew of options for Gorm Society.
Asteroids, and their varying pitch and yaw can now be held in place, or moved to a less fraught area to exploit. Deposits buried under the earth can now be moved more cleanly, quickly and easily, in layers, not disturbing thing by use of physical force, and thus reducing chance of accidents. Dark Matter can be taken from it's orbit around exoplanets of multi-star systems with ease. Even the harvest of stellar plasma is within reach, should a ship or structure be hardy even to withstand the heat, and with Gravitically Compressed Crystalline Alloys being ever more widespread, that is not too far off, surely.

Even the Military is looking at implementation of the devices. There are numerous ways a catching an object in a Graviton field and then altering it's matter distribution could be useful for combat, limited only to the imagination of the wielder, and how proofed the array is against both harm and stress.
(1 Eureka)

Action 2. Colonization - There exists a habitable world that is densely jungled in the system to our west. It and it's myriad moons and other planetary bodies will be of great aid to Hegemony and Gorminon people. While settling it does put our people in easy reach of the Sol system as well as the mysterious machines that run the trinary, it has been determined that there is nowhere in the hyperlanes that is not near a star faring race or polity to be found. Thus an already livable biosphere is the best bet for Gorminon first steps to truly be a extra sytem polity.
(300 Volatiles, 240 Metals (20% discount due to my first Eureka, on both cost and upkeep), 1 Population)

Exploration Fleet- Skirt the Sol system and explore the hyperlane past them, Break contact and avoid any interceptors back to freindly or neutral space if the Order Anthropic, the Martian Ecumenopolis or Slinkies move to intercept.

>Free Action (Military):
I was told on the Discord that attacking with my military is a free action. If that was incorrect, then this should replace my Action 2. Mobilize the navy and send the 20 power fleet combined with the 10 power fleet to attack everything in the Solar System south of the Conduit System. If all enemy spaceships are destroyed and any orbital defense stations are obliterated, begin a siege blockade of their colony world. Hold them hostage and threaten to bomb their civilians if their navy retaliates.

For this I'd like to make some improvements to the slave obedience methods I use. Whether it's bomb collars or brain chips, I want to make them more effective. Gameplay-wise I hope this would look like a decrease to the percent chance that my worlds will rebel, and that if they do, their strength won't be as much.
After that little uprising of Cyn-1-RP2 on turn 3, I am a little apprehensive of seeing that sort of situation repeat.

Those rebels, those lagging birds, those EGG SNATCHERS had decided to pick this moment to revolt. In hindsight he really should have seen this coming. New emperor was bad enough for their control over the countless machinations of state enterprises. Now there was someone they had to answer to, someone who could dismiss them and worst of all: someone who tried to take their money away.

Facing the end of their industries, the end of their authority and perhaps the end of their lives large numbers of nobility had risen up in revolt. This was absolutely not a good look for the empire, not with their newest subjects on hand. What was he going to do...
"Why not buy them off?"
His charge had spoken out of turn. A first to be sure. But he wasnt avoiding the Castellean's gaze nor was he pecking at his wings like he usually did when unsure of a course of action.
"Go on"
"Theyre scared because were taking too much from them. Theyre cowards, all of them and none of them would have done this alone. We know who is after the money, who is after the throne, and who just wants to mess things up before they slam into the soil with finality. All we have to do is delegate state enterprises as hereditary grants to those who can be bought. Those who want the throne dont want it, not really. They are after recognition, status, both of which new titles can provide."
"And what of those who simply want to mess things up?"

His charge turned outside to where is newly acquired solar beasts frolicked in warm orange light. "My pets look quite hungry dont they..."

COLLAPSE ACTION - PARTIAL PAYOFF- DECREASE RESOURCE PRODUCTION BY 10%
With 2/3rds of the rebels put down, the remaining portion will be easy work

Action 1 - Create the 19th Lead Flock - A war armada under the command of the Grand Castellean
1000 volatiles, 1000 metal, 1000 production
(Reassign 4% production managers and 1% researchers into military for the new armada)

Action 2 - Organize a sweep of the nobility that oversee critical systems/positions
It should never have gotten this far. Our nest watchers have been slacking. Now they will abandon subtlety to begin breaking down roosts, examining entire clutches to the last eggshell and questioning those who work around the nobles in question. Signs of betrayal will be dealt with swiftly via choice tribunal or exile. Those who choose exile will be escorted to a world of their choosing within the Davalin system (once we work out the details via diplomacy)

Nobody warned me how slow the Forest is. I speak, and then I wait. And wait. The tree-minds consider every word as if it might take root. My staff swear the delay is just thoroughness, and my processors swear otherwise. A thousand of my cycles for a single answer, and yet when it arrives it's never wrong. Back home they call it stalling. I'm starting to call it care. Strange thing for me to say, I know. Either way, the real negotiations have begun, and for once I'm not the most nervous one in the room. Technically there is no room. Just a lot of bees.

Free Action: Pop reassignment
Raise military allocation to 15% to properly crew the new fleet.

Action 2: Eureka - Psi-reactive materials
The metallophyte lineages that mineralized the first logic gates are reacting to the psi traces in the colony's metal. The Naturalist grove-keepers, long used to coaxing quiet value out of their ancient microbes, are given the resources to learn how far it goes. If their oldest craft can pull a trickle of psi from raw ore, it can probably pull much more.

Action 2: Survey the colony's Living Architecture
Something in the new colony is growing faster than anyone planned. A self-propagating structure is eating into the planet's crust, and the extraction models say the world won't last long at this rate. The Naturalists take the lead, sending survey teams to understand it before it consumes the place. Unlike the Purists, they know the difference between harvesting a living thing and being harvested by one.

>1. "Shaping the Golem" - Research Alien Servitorization Tech - Dedication: Eureka Point, All Computation Not Already Dedicated To The Cloak Project

After seeing the sheer width of the "mining" operations of the Slinkies, there has been some great interest in the Veche of Kuroyan to put such abilities to work - to our work, to be more exact. And so, our next, greatest project will be to create the technological advances necessary to turn aliens under our control into SERVITORS, Cyberized servants modified for loyalty and service - with such a system, not only may we expect full loyalty from such servants, but we may also further increase their efficiency in the future with work-related cybernetics.

>2. "The Lifeblood of Civilization" - Energy Complex on Ahara System - Dedicate: 2000 Metals, Available Pop (To be finished as more workers become available)

The acquisition of the metal mines has given us a budget tenfold what we previously held - and we shall put it to good use! Although it may not be finished until our new "workers" are brought back, we can begin it now.

>FLEET ACTION. "Today's Subject..." - 1st & 2nd Fleet to Sol, to Capture As Many Slinkies as Physically Possible

We shall not let down - we must press our attack, onto the source of the menace, onto Sol! Yet to merely eliminate these slinkies would be...wasteful. Our fleets shall thus have a new mission paremeter - to, through whatever method necessary, drive the slinkies into our control, that their entire race, in their endless swarms, to be put under our control.
