can you bypass tier 3 of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and still actualize?
>>82450058Speaking from experience technically yes, but you'll suffer from executive dysfunction.
>>82450058I don't think the Buddha was a sexhaver, anon
>>82450105I don't think Buddha did anything aside from thinking and lying on his ass.
>>82450116That was his purpose, anon>inb4 to think and lie on his all day till the day he died?YeahWe've got carpenters to cut up our woodsWe've got masons to cut up our stonesWhy can't we have freeloaders and thinkers in this world too?
>>82450148The point OP is asking is wheter you can be more than that without any emotional support structure in todays world.
>>82450177>Today's worldWhen was it ever a different world, anon? The technologies changed, the rules of society changed, but human nature is still the sameDid the Buddha not look up at the same sun, the same moon, as you do now?>Emotional supportOf course you can, but it's going to be hard, as is everything worth fighting for in life
>>82450058I am autistic so tier 3 is permanently blocked off for me
>>82450058Psssst, hey...these arent descriptive laws of nature, theyre prescriptive trends among normies
>>82450058I'm sure there's some cocktail of drugs that could supply the necessary sense of well-being and simulate social accomplishment,
>>82450177 (Me)>>82450198So really what i mean is without any sense of belonging your brain (rightfully) asks itself "Why should i do anything when i live in a world that doesn't consider me a part of itself?". Without any answers you can't justify doing anything but think.
>>82450250What would you do if you were accepted? Find a cure for cancer or something?
>>82450250Maybe you've been living in the wrong world, anonMaybe this world isn't meant for you, maybe you need a change of environments, a change of surroundings, a change of people, a change of systemsHow old are you, anon? I'm assuming you left high school not too long ago huh?
>>82450271>What would you do if you were accepted?Try inventing things, i have quite a few ideas to try.>Find a cure for cancer or something? No, but i'm not afraid to be ambitious.>>82450273>Maybe this world isn't meant for you, maybe you need a change of environments, a change of surroundings, a change of people, a change of systemsI don't have that kind of control.>How old are you, anon?21
>>82450306>I don't have that kind of controlYet, but it'll take timeThe first battle will always be the battle of the mind, the battle between you and yourself
>>82450058Dont know if it blocks you but getting a bit of pussy every now and then would help a lot. Ive got friends and family, a place to live, an ok job and a dream im working towards but still want to get laid at least once every few months and i believe that desire at least partly holds me back form growing as a person.
>>82450315That lack of control is more physical than mental, i'm more opposed than ignored.
>>82450362Fight back, else you'll be stuck there foreverWhatever happens, time WILL pass, anonYou can either stay and be miserable foreveror you can fight and take what you think is rightfully yoursWhatever's your choice, time WILL pass regardless
>>82450082Pretty much this. You can ignore the need for tier 3 shit but it will eat away at you eventually.
>>82450378I think it's on a scale that's beyond what we can control. But still i suppose i might as well try.
>>82450058The shit that people will ask to avoid touching grass-_-
>>82450058I have bits and peices of 1-4. Not ideal.
>>82450058>bypassnope. if you're not ready, you're not ready
>>82450058Maslow's hierarchy is bullshit.
>>82450058I have not a single one of 3, no friends, no intimacy or gf, no family I see, no sense of connection.
>>82450058I actually reject Mazlow's higharchy a little. We need insecurity to actually be our true selves. We need cold and hot and rain and dry. We need to feel hunger and thirst and exercise. When we don't have these feelings because we're indoors, instead we're worried about love and belonging and nebulous unattainable shit we made up because now we have to invent problems to solve. I was never happier than when I was hiking the Appalachian Trail alone, unsure whether I'd get to eat. A meal out there tastes way better. Water is euphoric. The very best thing to live for is what we ourselves deprive meaning and pleasure every single day by choice in our sheltered society.
>>82451648nah, you're full of shit mah boi
>>82451733This isn't about feeling them it's about satiating them.
>>82450058I'm at that point too. I have a job that I like, and a comfy apartment, but I have no real friends, barely ever speak to my family, and simply cannot ever bring myself to trust another person in life to seek even basic friendship let alone intimacy. So if you find a way to skip 3 please share with the class.
>>82450058WHY DONT YOU TELL ME, IF YOURE SUCH A PATRIOT?
>>82452101I know, and we shouldn't always satiate them. Sometimes, we should go hungry for a while or get roughed up outside a little. They shouldn't always be secure glorified dopamine hits.
>>82450058no and the fun thing is that relationships are the single most important thing when it comes to health and overall happiness.
>>82450105he was a prince so probably he got some puss before he trooned out. besides he was a highly esteemed spiritual leader and got his happy juice from that
>>82453773you have absolutely no idea what he meant by that hierarchy and schizo projected your own value judgement on it so you can... refute yourself?
I can only do the very top, self actualization, but none of the others.
>>82450058look at the bottom of the pyramid>reproductionlol
>>82450058OP I don't even get past phase 1
>>82450082What connection is there between the two
>>82450105He certainly was. It's actually partially why Nietzsche held Buddhism in higher regard than Christianity, he wasn't a slave forming his moral system out of resentment, he was a master that voluntarily laid down what he had to form a system of philosophy that was actually in touch with reality rather than just becoming decadent.
