Any older anon's over the age of 25 still talk to their families? I only talk to my grandfather because he's a blacksheep and so am i but lately he's been telling me i need to maintain a relationship with the family after he's gone.

I understand why he's saying it but how/why would i have a relationship with people that only bring me negative emotions????
He knows this.

Any personal stories or wisdom welcome.

27, I talk to my direct family almost everyday, same for my grandfather. Havent really spoken to one of my siblings since last year. Did the same to another one before that because both of them were acting like assholes, but only one of them began acting normally again.
Outside of direct family its weird. Dont talk to my cousins or aunts, they know we exist but they dont care.
I understand tho, if people are bad for you you shouldnt bother. I still do talk to my sibling for really important stuff but I keep it short.
Does your family want anything to do with you?

Why did 70s/80s ghettos have so much soul? I look at photos of 2025 Philadelphia/Detroit and it just looks like a depressing hellhole that I never want to go near. But 70s Harlem, there's something edgy and exciting about it. I wish I was there.

He said it not for your sake, but for theirs.
