interesting. we only had one course in physical chemistry. I think our faculty is moar focused on organic chemistry

that's true. I wish i was moar focused tho sometimes

My project was synthesizing parts of a synthetic antibody used in clinical research.

To a certain point it can be enjoyable but doing the same thing for years on end sounds miserable to me.

I assume it just works differently here. 2-3 lectures plus a month long lab is standard for analytical, inorganic, organic, physical chem. Lectures last a whole semester with one exam at the end.
>how did it go? did u do any experiments on it? how long was ur paper?
Went okay,m desu. Did not do any experiments on it, the group sells it to a company that does (pre-)clinical trials with it. My job was just synthesizing the "Fab"-region of it. Final report I submitted was 40ish pages iirc.

I think I would enjoy it personally. But idk, i haven't had the chance 2 do proper research yet, so maybe i'd enjoy that moar
>I assume it just works differently here. 2-3 lectures plus a month long lab is standard for analytical, inorganic, organic, physical chem. Lectures last a whole semester with one exam at the end.
i see. It's different where i live. Here we have lots of lectures and some labs with midterms dotted in between finals.

Read an anthropology paper cockfighting in Indonesia today. Interesting stuff and filled with double-entendres. Written more like a travelogue than anything. https://www.jstor.org/stable/20024056 if you're interested in reading it yourself.

Commenting on the paper I read (not the cockfighting one), finding flaws in methodology/reasoning, and giving some questions for the class to think about in the next session. Nothing too bad. Very useful training, really.

Mostly just background research on principle behind synthetic antibodies, design principles, peptide chemistry etc. I did some analysis I guess, things like mass spectroscopy to check if all amino acids are present after coupling steps etc. Also some HPLC for purification.
>have u got any uni frens?
Only two people I really hang out with at uni at this point. Original friends group kinda fell apart over the years with people dropping out or not pursuing a master's degree after they got their bachelor's. It is kinda hard for me to keep relationships going if their isn't somewhat regular contact desu. Might say they were more acquaintances anyway.

My BPD girlfriend dumped me for some 30 year old guy she met a week ago. She's 21, been together for a year, everything was fine I thought. I have no female friends left in my social circle to have a relationship with in real life. Only one internet girlfriend in another country with whom it is impossible to get into a relationship in real life, I haven't met people in about 6 years probably and it's hard to find the right one for me and in general it's hard for me to meet new people. Looks like I will be alone for a long time, very sad.

taking it easy with family
was able to take two days off so i came here yesterday after work, things have been improving
ended up buying a bunch of niceties for my home, like funnels, sieves, a potato masher, and mom also gave me some stuff like a kitchen knife, soap, some deodorant, etc.

i really am thankful i still have family to run away to, i never gave them much value but now...
now i see they help me with loneliness way more than i thought.
thanks, mom and grandma.

i hope you all are having a nice time out there
give your parents a hug if you can, or someone else who helps you with loneliness, if there's anyone
if not, then reserve those hugs for whenever you find them, ok?
stay safe out there, anons

p.s. please don't mind my trip from now on, i really really gotta reduce my 4chan exposure...

Incidentally, a reading group I was in a few years ago assigned Industrial Society and Its Future without mentioning the author, so it was pretty funny seeing people talk about that without knowing the context.

A burger would be nice, been a while since I had a good one.
>what sort of projects would u like 2 do in the future?
Honestly anything involving organic synthesis would work for me. Preferably total synthesis or organometallic chem.
>r there nice places 2 hike where u live?
Nah, not really unfortunately. I live in the capital city of my country and most of the surrounding area is just flat land used for farming. The trails are also just kinda overrun with people, especially on the weekends.
Takes me about an hour to get somewhere decent. I grew up in a really mountainous part of the country so I am kinda spoiled when it comes to hiking lol

hello everyone ui anon here. i'm here to say..
I'M GOING DOWN TO SOME FUCKING GAMING!!!!

LOOK AT THIS SHIT ONLY FOR 50$ (GAME INCLUDED)

(took the picture with my 2ds just in case)

unfortunately it's missing the power supply though.. but ff7 in perfect condition is already like 40 dollars so idk

Was it a good deal?

great for collecting, but anon...
grab an emulator and a usb controller along with a rom and you got the game for free, basically (maybe the controller would cost some but not that much)
if your intention is to start a collection then yeah, good deal, but if you want to play, well... not so good
oh and good luck finding a tv or monitor that still accepts those old ass red/yellow/white cables, i think the ps1 was still from those days
forget your fancy hdmi ports

i do have the cables, and i have a crt tv.. it's not that much though right? it plays the same, anddd the games its yours forever in physical form, which makes it more fun no?

like, i could get an emulator running, but it wouldn't be as fun as buying new games and milking the fuck out of an expensive product i've paid for..

idk.. it's just less fun

also i'm all about originals~
>>

>not that much though
i wouldn't know, i'm not american, but i imagine it's a reasonable price for outdated tech

>anddd the games its yours forever in physical form, which makes it more fun no?
like i said, if you like collecting stuff, for sure
if i were you i'd be happy with my purchase as i think the same, but functionally? if i just wanted to play something, emulator time

>it wouldn't be as fun as buying new games and milking the fuck out of an expensive product i've paid for..
how about you get a cd writer and burn roms into the cds then?

>also i'm all about originals~
you do realize they're all just copies, right?
all that differs is whether the devs/publishers made the copy or you did

i know you're trying to justify it but anon, think with me here
i like collecting stuff as well and i think it's a pretty great purchase for that reason
but if your intention is to just play something, then you just wasted your money because emulators and roms exist
so it all boils down to the question, do you like collecting stuff as well?

ohhh yeah i do (schizo)

buttt i do have this itch that if i want to play something i need the console and the game, emulating is fine though

what i'm saying is.. i do this more for the gaming part than the collecting part, and i don't mind spending more money on stuff like this, cause i perceive them as more valuable

just me though, if people don't want to waste like 100 dollars on stupid games.. that's just normal lmao

yeah that's fair, but to me it feels like i can get close enough with a usb controller and a fullscreen emulator
unless i really wanted to collect something, in which case yeah i'd definitely go for it, or if i saw it for cheap like you did

but yeah i think i get you, anon
good stuff, enjoy ff7 on an authentic ps1

>where have you been for eight months?
awww eikinon, you're gonna make me cry man, you remember me!

i've been... kinda mad at the world, and specially america

i really dislike the people who live in here, everyone is just stupid, annoying and empty, always making one fucking thing their entire personalities, being dumb, aggressive and idk i just hate everyone, so i just started getting depressed cuase i didn't like the life that i was living and specially WHERE i'm living so i feel fucking trapped

but watching some nice shows like non non biyori, oreshura, oniai (these two are harems btw, but cute ones), senko san, darling in the whatever the fuck and anime in general, has gotten me into a good enough mood to start playing vidya and shite (i like the word shite)

cause in those animes girls are cute, and dress nice and people are simple and chill, you know.. like a socity with actual culture and values
i think i just like japan though (even though i actually like europe a lot as well)
but 1990-2020 japan
not current japan..

sorry for big ass text

>But that seems like a good deal.
right? i thought so too, i wanted ff9 as well, but they didn't have it, i wanna replay it in a ps1 with a crt and stuff to see how it looks like

i've actually dustted down my old family ps2 and the memory card still had my kingdom hearts save file (lvl 100 btw just saying.. not bragging.. at all)

Fair enough. I got pretty disillusioned by living in the UK for similar reasons before I moved. I think, in general, most people are fine (or have the capacity to be), but the few that aren't really ruin this whole existence thing for everyone else.
But I'm glad you were able to somewhat cheer yourself up.
I've been meaning to watch Non Non Biyori for years but I never got around to it. I've not watched anywhere near as much anime as I've wanted to this year, now that I think about it.

>I think, in general, most people are fine (or have the capacity to be)
true, i just got over my head cause i'm schizo, but you're right, most people are fine

thing is.. i think i just don't like our society, a lot of things throw me off, like for example inheritance, why do we do such a big deal about that shit? like if i'm 90% british or whatever, why does it matter

things like driving at 16 cause our cities are terribly design, also fucking stupid

hookups, college experience and.. idk a lot of shit just gets me sad to be american, cause we're like... retarded, what other country tells you that you can legally drive at 16 but you have to wait 5 more years to drink, and then once you can drink at 21 (which nobody fucking follows btw) you can go ahead and be a massive whore at college before getting a dead end job at an office where your commute time is 15 minutes to downtown but you have to drive for like an hour cause of traffic

idk america is just dumb, like everything we could've done wrong we did, it's insane

and i'm privilege enough to live in an old house in an old city, but a lot of people live in actual prisons

>but I don't really have the space or know where to get one

Americans are an odd bunch. This is probably due the circles I've found myself in but I generally find the ones I've personally interacted with to be very kind and pretty intelligent. You're a superpower for a reason, after all. That said, the burgers I've gawked at in the media and on the internet are firmly on the other extreme, but I suppose that's bound to happen in a nation of 340 million. You could definitely say the same thing for the UK, we've got a lot of dregs there, too.
But yes, you do live in car hell and other places are much less antisocial. You'd probably like it better in Hong Kong.

>brazil does have kinda of good places right?
it really depends on what you'd call a "good place"
the city i live in is pretty fucking good for me, i live in a relatively safe area, lots of good food around, some events going on around too, a great beach to cycle near, i work with what i enjoy and i get to live closer to family than i did previously
some people prefer nature and not too much of it can be found in some areas, but there are some parks with a lot of nature near me
some others like some dystopian cyberpunk cityscape, in which case... go to sao paulo, not here
so really, it all depends on the perspective

>idk i love mmos.
i both love and hate mmos
they really helped me shape myself from an edgy kid who hated everyone to a more sociable person, who still fucks around with people but values friendships and wants to build them up
but they also took me away from real life during high school and the few years after it before uni, it really stumped my social growth irl

recently i've been kinda wanting to go back to them, since it's better to play them than be lonely, i guess
but eh... reluctant, cause they're addictive

Can be pretty awe inspiring if you think about how long some remains survived in really good condition. Especially with large dinosaur bones.
> was there any one in particular that caught your eye? also, did you go on your own or with someone else?
The exhibit of rock samples from famous ancient monuments and buildings was really neat. Also the skeleton of a Megaloceros was sick, especially if you compare it to the size of modern bucks. I went alone, originally had a date set up but that didn't work out.

Mineral collection (rock samples from famous buildings, meteorites, etc.) and the dinosaur exhibit. I like to take my time when looking at things and read all the information the museum provides so it took me a while and didn't manage to check out all the other exhibits lol

i've accumulated some tiredness from these past few days. i slept well last night, like 8 hours and a half in one go and barely enough 2 nights ago (6 hours and a half with the help of melatonin). i'm certain by now that my insomnia only affects me when i've to work the day after...

i've been able to do some stuff today but not much. hopefully i'll be fully rested by tomorrow as i would like to read/draw something. i've found a sports stream so i'll watch some baseball tonight (i don't even know much about the rules, i'm just curious lol).

sucks that you are going through this but it's nice that you can focus on yourself for now!
i've seen on other posts of yours that you are struggling to sleep, so i'd recommend you to get some sleeping pills stronger than just melatonin for that. everything is worse when you've barely slept...
as for eating, ig you could get some precooked stuff or sandwiches or stuff that is easy to cook. try to eat twice a day at least for now (lunch and dinner).

obviously it's not like anything of what i said will make you feel better, but at least it'll make you not feel worse as time goes on.

Been replaying all the Mega Man games. Also been meaning to finally play through the first two Megami Tensei games, Classis WoW imo is still one of the best MMORPGS out there. Grinds feel actually worthwhile and the gameplay loop of levelling up and getting better gear little by little is really satisfying. i cry in my sleep if i kill someone who i'm not supposed to, and due to my schizo mind, i still wish them well (or to rest in peace) after i'm back here

>hopefully u would enjoy it!
you kidding me? that looks tasty as fuck, excellent for a dinner replacement

>normal version
and it's THAT expensive or do you just not have a lot saved?
if the latter then it might be worth it to wait a bit before buying, you won't know for sure if the game is as good as you think
watch gameplays first then buy if you get hooked

>any other MMOs that u enjoy?
I used to casually play several F2P MMOs that were popular here when I was younger and couldn't afford the monthly WoW subscription fee. Stuff like Metin2, Lineage and Silkroad. Also FFXIV but haven't kept up with the last two expansions. Never tried GW2 but I heard good things about it!
>that's cell stuff, isn't it?
The focus is more on bioanalytical approaches and drug design but yeah cellular function is also covered.
>i really don't wanna go home
Sucks to hear that you feel this way but I can relate. Just having people around you can be nice even if you don't interact that much throughout the day.

>>82574566
>which monuments did you know from the ones they told you?
They had some granite from the Pantheon in Rome, some marble from Versailles and limestone from the St. Stephen's cathedral. Those I remember off the top of my head.
>it's the coward's way out, and fills others with anxiety before they give up
Not my first rodeo unfortunately And yeah, it sucks how accepted it seems to ghost people nowadays. At this point I just expect people to not show up. Can't get your hopes crushed if you never had any to begin with.

Oh I'm sure he'll be fine, it's for his own good, otherwise the health issues he's been causing to himself would've put him in a much worse situation.
How are you coping?

>you feel a weird calm between 2-4 weeks its hard to explain
that's what i was asking mostly, like if you force yourself or you do it naturally

you basically have the sexual behavior of a white woman lmao

still very impressive

>>82571614
>y can't u daydream anymore?
I think cause i'm not as bored anymore? I remember that i used to go to bed earlier (when i was younger) just so i could daydream

But now i have a bunch of stuff i'm constantly doing (vidya, anime, manga, puzzles, etc) you know? Having some fun irl

and i think i might have a bit of an emotional drawback because of it (daydreaming i mean), i feel that others have already learn how to cope "correctly" with the world around them, but i'm relearning that, which makes me feel a bit tired sometimes

Have you ever daydreamed baka?

>what's it like?
Real fun, the voice actors and actresses are peak, specially Etna, there is something special about seeing a cute tiny anime girl talk like a grown woman, and idk why, but her voice fits so well lmao

They changed it in the psp and pc versions though which is a shame

>awesome! I would love 2 chat w u moar!
Me 2 two too

>then i can go back 2 doing what i truly love!
I hope you achieve it baka, just remember though, never over do it with work, or you'll loose yourself

>I very much enjoyed it!
Happy to hear

>Was it japanese curry as well
I didn't know that japanese curry was a thing, I'll try to make it next time, i think the one i cooked was Indian

I saw you made yourself a budgir though was it good? Have you ever smashed avocado sprinkled some salt on it and then have it with a burguer? Cause it's really good i can assure you

I hope your friend will be okay. Calling the hospital to talk to never got any easier for me, but I'm sure your friend would appreciate it if you did.
>How are you coping?
A little better than yesterday, although I was dealt another harsh blow a few hours ago. I just feel exhausted.

i wish i had moar stuff 2 do

i am 2 scatterbrained 4 it methinks

yeah that's true!

>What do you think of it so far?
30 hours in, chapter 8 level 45

I think this is such a unique game, when i bought it i didn't expect it to be this original gameplay wise, i love how simple but charming the story is, it reminds me a little of earthbound, 80% silly 20% is kinda heavy

there is really no game like it, i love rpgs i love cute anime characters, i love stupid humor. Idk fucking peak also favorite character hands down has to be Etna, but i also like flone a bunch and lahar is not laking behind, all such lovely screen creatures

>Also, what's making you feel so guilty?
You mean the dreams? Idk desu, i'm schizo i guess, because there is literally no reason as to why i should be dreaming this shit thankfully as soon a i wake up i forget the details of the dream but it still stresses me out

But yee i.. Don't think i have anything extremely big to feel guilty about

>>82572828
>Disgaea is pretty peak.
good to know everyone agrees

also hi eiki, hopping you're taking it easier than yesterday wish you a happy day and afternoon

also, idk if i'm in any position to say this, and in fact, i know i'm not but keep yourself distracted if you can, cause thoughts are a bitch and they attack in quick succession, don't do anything dumb
>>
>>82576971
>i wish i could remember my dreams
as the local oneironaut, i can tell you that you won't always be able to remember everything, nor will you always be able to remember your dreams
but take note of them as soon as you wake up and you can always refresh your memory, keep your phone close by and write them down to the best of your ability

>>82575046
>granite from the Pantheon
that's fucking epic, if i ever visit rome i want to take some of it home with me, lol
>marble from Versailles
>limestone from the St. Stephen's cathedral.
i haven't really seen that one, but sounds epic
very very nice, i'm glad you had a nice time

>At this point I just expect people to not show up.
aye, sad but i do the same, i just call people to come along
sad that it's come to this, but yeah
here's hoping you find better company, anon

>>82574926

to me that's a lot, damn
>i gotta save it 4 tuition
yeah, that's troublesome
you got a source of income?

Just a reminder, I don't want to be negative in those threads, I'm just being real and honest with my situation right now, I still really like those threads, I just haven't been taking it easy lately
>>
>>82577054
Thank you. I'm no longer bedridden so I think things will start getting easier now.
>keep yourself distracted if you can
That's what I'm trying to do. It's hard to stay focused on anything right now but it'll get easier.
>don't do anything dumb
I won't. Don't worry.

>>82577183
We're all moping here, don't worry about it.
