Physically and financially yes, emotionally no. Less to do with the economy and more with realizing how shit and worthless my entire family is. Like it'll never matter how much I work and climb up, they'll find a new way to kick me off the ladder. If I stop supporting my mother, she loses the house. I complain to her and try to have a heart to heart, she drunkenly bitches over me about a divorce from 14 years ago. She works at walmart in her senior years. My dad's a drunken coke addict that doesn't care his friend is moving his shit in and clearly poised to squat in his house when he dies. My siblings have no initiative and my sister has said she'd kill herself I something happened to my mom's house and I don't let her live with me. Cutting off my family would leave me with an immeasurable amount if guilt I don't think I could overcome, would probably do what my sister threatens. So I stopped caring about non family matters, including politics, because nothing will unfuck my life. I already anticipate inheriting nothing because my dad favors my younger brother anyway since he drives to see him twice a month where as my car died 3 years ago and I work weekends to not see my bank account dwindle. He already gave him a followup car after crashing his last one (from him) 3 weeks ago just to solidify that favoritism. I didn't get my one car from him. My mother has a girl favoritism mindset so will pass me over for my younger sister as well, to "give her a leg up" because she will "need it being a woman in this country". I know they don't give a shit about me but I still can't tell them all to fuck off. I also have bad luck with women and my hair is thinning the last few months. I think I'll break before Christmas.

"More and more, at Brown, I came into basic conflict with the prevailing super-liberalism - still without ever realizing what it was all about. My companions, my courses, my professors, and the latest erudite books - everything seemed to me to be touched with madness. I fought it fiercely and, for my ignorance, powerfully, but mostly by instinct. I simply had never heard of Communism as anything but a doctrine held by a few fanatics someplace overseas. That the campus, dorms, fraternity houses and class rooms of Brown University were crawling with the filthy thing, I would never have believed. I would have laughed to scorn anybody who had tried to tell me such a "Fantastic" thing - then!" A literal verbatim quote from White Power, written in 1967. It's still true as well. They brainwash these kids like you wouldn't believe. Do you know any young people? They'll straight up tell you to not be introspective and spout commie propaganda.

As far as my daily life goes, yes. I have more money, I started making an effort to spend more time with family and it had a positive impact on me. I also started spending a lot more time playing vidya and reading without worrying about "wasting" my free time doing something productive, this is the important part really, I do 10 hour work shifts from Monday to Saturday and on a lot of holidays, I don't need to obsess over the rat race. However when I go to bed and can't fall asleep, I remember this is the year I turn 30, I am stuck in a profession I hate, my body is rotting from overworking, I have no one to explore the things in life I care about because none of my friends even pretend to care about what I care about, even though I always entertain their interests. I think I will kill myself once I feel like I can't extract any pleasure out of my free time anymore, which will be when I have to take up the family's business. Doing better though.

I'm significantly better off emotionally, physically, and socially than I was a year ago. I was going through a breakup that blew a dinnerplate-sized hole in my chest and I was doing a really bad job coping, mostly by getting into a messy entanglement with an ex who was passively trying to baby trap me. Friends and working out more helped.

My job security is the worst it has ever been, though. Layoff risks are pretty high and I've had trouble finding another position to hop to.
>>
>>82605082
I was homeless at 8. Parents were drug addicts. Parents regularly chose to keep the lights on and cold meals because no gas or warm meal and in the dark (fuck top up meters.)

Had a front row seat of what NOT to do in life with your time and money, learned from it, found a wife with the same mindset, both lived like monks in a basement even though we could easily afford more. Made what money we had work for us, snowballed into what we have today.

So no, I did not benefit from shit. I learned from my fucking terrible family.

>>
>>82605131
>How do you live below your means if you're not rich already?
For two years after I got promoted, I lived in rent-controlled apartment with my brother splitting the already low rent I could easily cover myself, saving my money and shopping at Wal-Mart
Bought my home in the nicer part of town like 6 years ago with a fixed rate mortgage, so my monthly payments are lower than the rent-controlled apartments are now.
Now I'm just coasting until early retirement. I'm on track to retire in about 10-12 years, but if I can speed it up, I will.
>>
>>82605131
I make 125k and my wife makes 100k. Started out in retail $12/h, used that to go retail pharmacy, gained experience and kept jumping company to company for higher salary. Eventually positioned myself to be irreplaceable in a company.

I would save money every opportunity and had a rule that any luxury I got I would have to put double the value into a saving account. I would buy rotisserie chicken and bulk cook with that so my groceries were $20-25 a week etc. etc.

I still bulk cook so me and the wife eat the same meal every day but treat ourselves at weekend. That is how I built things up.
>>
>>82603423
Slightly better, decided to learn programming a bit more and have slightly more money. Housing market seems to be in slight decline but still there is feeling that the financial system is about to crack. I think more before I speak and don't interrupt people as much, I'm using more self reflection instead of doing things because err I dunno.

I never thought that I would think back to 2017 as being a pretty good year. Now we are on the way to having AI cameras monitor you every second when you are out in public, one slip up and you are done, what a nightmare this is way worse than I would have expected. AI has to be one of the worst things ever invented. This effects blue pilled normies more though.

>>82604075
I've started to realized that parents and older people are pretty highly a product of their surroundings and some of the things we judge them on may legitimately not be their fault. I'm a bit more forgiving now then I used to be. Yeah sure they had cheaper housing but they didn't know it at the time, it was just normal.

All of this is going to Mumbai. Warehouse guys don't become engineers of any kind without higher-education at the very least in the past several years, and even with a Master's/PhD the job market for STEM is abysmal.
>>
>>82605243
I mean sure, if that is how you want to look at it.

That is what I learned from watching my parents and the people they surrounded themselves with. You have people like them who look at the shit and squalor and say this is the best I can do. I guess I am stuck here. Must be nice and easy for the rich.

Then you have people like me who think this shit is terrible and not enough and they do everything they can to escape.

I am guessing you are the former, unhappy with your life so you blame everything else, shrug your shoulders and think it is everyone elses fault I am stuck here.

I am 34. I lived like shit for 31 of those years and have only just recently got my house. But sure I have secretly been incredibly rich the whole time. I must not have noticed.

Mass layoffs, my company pretty much got rid of every developer who wasnt senior level lol. Tbf I was lucky to get that job in the first place and software development isnt really my passion, but its the only real work experience I have so I feel kind of locked into these kinds of positions. It doesnt help that I suck at leetcode and have crippling social anxiety so I dont really have any connections that can help me land another job

>just go to college for 16 years
Not exactly accessible. Obviously, you know most businesses flop pretty quickly. It's probably worse now and is obviously not recession-proof lol.
I'm not trying to say you're guaranteed to be poor in 2025, but upward social mobility is increasingly difficult, and putting your extra few thousand bucks a year into the S&P 500 won't let you ever be able to afford kids if you're not somewhat gifted or lucky.
>>
>>82605432
Except that is exactly what I work in. Started retail moved retail pharmacy I am now in healthcare education. My wife is in education. We saw everyone moving online during Covid and started online education to take advantage of all the Chinese new money. We now work our jobs and have that business.

There are a bunch of people giving tips but you just keep shooting it down and saying lol that would never work.

I was just saying that there are jobs in those fields that WILL in fact make you rich
But you don't even have to go into business for yourself to make bank as a tradie
Just join the union and you're making 6 figures in a few years
>>
>>82605513
>that WILL in fact make you rich
If you're lucky, or you're extremely dedicated (to become a doctor). The trades won't make you rich in most of the US.
>join the union
Unfortunately, I wasn't born in state where that was legal. Union membership is at like 10% in the US because they're so raped to shit.
>>
>>82605523
I live around a bunch of tradies and I see the opposite

My best friend is a woman whose husband owns his own HVAC business (he actually fixed my AC a year ago, lol)
He bought land and had his house built on it.
My sister is an electrician who recently had a baby. She's just about to end her apprenticeship and get that sweet journeyman pay
>>
>>82605571
You're from a state with strong unions, it's not really comparable to other states. Obviously owning a business isn't recession proof, and this is under the pretense that you're not already a boomer who's had an amazing economy for most of you're life

Nope. Private company. Started as a teacher, made a bunch of changes in my class, had people asking specifically to be taught by me when they signed up because of previous students. move up to head of department for it and so on.

The trick is seeing where the wind is blowing. Me and the wife saw the online shit with Covid so we took the opportunity and it is still paying dividends. I was chummy with everyone, knew all the secrets, knew admin/HR had beef with the other 2 teachers and the head of department was leaving the branch. Even though I was the newest I got the job. Rinse and repeat up the company to the position I am in now.

You do know private schools and private teaching companies exist right? All those companies you see teaching kids how to pass SAT or all the ESL companies etc. they exist for healthcare too.

Yes, because pattern recognition is only for the rich. You could not possibly look and see automation coming and avoid a production line job. I just looked around and saw everyone getting pissed off at the Chinese instead of realizing new money does not know what to do with it and taking the opportunity. Call it luck, call it the times, look around and see what is going on around you and take advantage of something. If you are not in a position to take advantage, do what you can so that you are. Again, it took me 31 years to get to the point I can enjoy the last 3 years. It sucks. Some people will do it faster, some people slower. The point is it is doable.

>17/h warehouse position with magical upward mobility
lol
>>
>>82606466
While I was in the company, I constantly put in resumes for other internal positions, anything that paid more.
I was in luck, as they prefer hiring from inside and training their own people, than getting outsiders with bad habits

t. seen them hire like 4 more people from other departments

>internal upward mobility, with training
You do realize how much of a lucky exception that is, right?
Even the normies constantly peddle the wisdom of switching jobs for a pay bump. Seriously, people regularly mock boomers over that "I started in the mail room and worked my way up!" shit. You're delusional if you think that is a standard experience that any person has the opportunity to do, when 9 times out of 10, they'll be kept in the same position for several years until they're worked to the bone. Then they repeat it with some other schmuck because it's been an employer's market for several years now.

I'm not saying it's impossible that you had this happen, I'm saying that you're a colossal faggot for acting like every anon has a path like that available, even if they're hard-working or have certifications/degrees. That, or you're LARPing as anons tend to do in threads like this.

Whenever I see this I cannot help but laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Why was he so confident? How did they all fall for it?
>>

>You do realize how much of a lucky exception that is, right?
Like I said, I've seen it happen to MULTIPLE people at this company
And it's pretty big, so I'm sure it happens quite frequently here

>m-my direct experience at my magical company!!!
Congrats bro. Your company of a few hundred people has had four (4) people get uplifted out of serfdom, when said positions likely have hundreds if not thousands of applications per day.
You're only further proving the point, mate.
>>
>>82606575
>Your company of a few hundred people has had four (4) people
No
My company employs thousands and is multinational
I've just personally known 4 people at my one branch, there's no reason to assume it doesn't happen all over the place
Turnover is not a very big problem here, we have people working here for 10-20-30 years, I'm coming up on 10 myself

>private schools
Pay jack shit.
>they exist for healthcare
Who are you teaching? In most of America, teachers are bad shit whether you're private or public. If you mean tutoring, all of that is locked behind higher-education and is hyper-competitive.
>pattern recognition
Like I said, if you knew the future, you'd be a billionaire.

Everyone can go from warehouse worker to IT guy (even though only Indians do that now)

No. I was already in a very low place, and my physical health continues to degrade. Things are going to only get worse for me.

it's a logical path if you take exams and then move to another company.
nobody is giving you personal training with internal mobility. if you're under 40 then you aren't going to be given any loyalty.
>>
>>82606637
Take what exams?
>>
>>82606641
one of the common /r9k/ job copes people have posted here for about a decade now is to get a shitty warehouse position, study for compTIA, then get certified and move to a good job at a different company
it's probably why that other anon accused that guy of larping

If you want to keep making excuses and stay where you are, just admit it. Some people just want to stay where they are, I am trying to show it is doable, no matter the difficulty. But you do you and blame all the external factors.

they're eternally seething because communists defeated hitler. also they're stupid and have never read a book about anything so their only idea of communism is that black people are going to come steal their stuff
>>

Just answer the questions. I literally have never heard of private teacher for healthcare, unless you mean tutor, which is locked behind a degree in 2025 if you're not already experienced
>>
i'm exactly the same, which is pretty good
but i know the world is in a much worse place overall

>Yes
You must have already been rich
>No, this is how I started, this is where I am.
lol not everyone can be rich
>I jumped company to company
Hurr durr but people cannot climb the ladder anymore. You cannot get rich in education.
>I am in education
Must be a professor those prospects are shit
>Private company
That pays shit. I have never seen those jobs so they cannot exist.

Do you think you just walk into those positions? What part of decades slogging through shit was difficult for you?

Not wasting my time answering questions if every bit of information is lol nope. You keep thinking that way bud. Hope you enjoy life.

Can you just tell me what a private company teacher for healthcare is?
>>
>>82603423
Absolutely; 2025 has been the best year of my life in the 2020s since 2020. Every year in-between these two sucked. But this year, I forced myself to grow more than I ever had before. There's been a lot of challenges but I've used them to make myself a better and fuller person, and I'll be taking the momentum to finally start building the life I always wanted for 2026.
>>
>>82606872
>the world is in a much worse place overall
it absolutely isn't
2025 is the most hopeful the world has ever looked all decade
>>
>>82606156
It's almost certainly because you're still unconsciously holding yourself back.
