Never really gave it much thought but when ever I go shopping there are aisles up aisles of goods. From plastic crep to new phone that came out. But what makes it hard to grasp that this is happening in every town in US probably and each town might 4-5 supermarkets. So each one has aisle upon aisles of consumer crap that will probably be thrown away within a year. Is this actually sustainable anons? Is this era of plentiful of consumption go on for centuries or is this the peak?
All that stuff goes to landfill until we find a better way to reuse/destroy our waste. There's a whole industry of people who think about this stuff so you don't have to. That doesn't mean there aren't problems; recycling of plastics is next to useless right now and many people don't realize that, but the world still turns. Let's hope the next wave of technologies gives the individual more autonomy over their consumption.
>>82669794>>82670112Why dont they just load it all on rockets and launch it into the sun?
>>82670177Lifting a lot of mass with rockets is not cost effective. You can try to turn it into liquid fuel or burn it in factories to generate heat, but even those methods are not cost effective yet. We're basically just procrastinating on managing plastic waste right now, and what we have done has been mostly subsidized
>>82670538This, the heavier the load the more difficult it is to lift.
i think we're at a point that things are getting more expensive but wages are not increasing so the consumption rate is shitting the bed
