There are times I wish I were Australian. There's something magic about that country, with kangaroos and koalas, with their red deserts and tropical coasts. I want to visit it at least once.

It's a place most visitors see once in their life and never come back to. It's a bucket list destination for most people. They visit once, they think it's nice but very expensive and they never feel compelled to return. Most empty space outside of cities in Australia are national parks or farmland. It's hot all year round, sunburn the second you leave your house, doesn't get dark until 9pm in summer, shallow and vapid culture with even more of an emphasis on appearance and conformity than the US, and literally nothing interesting going on. Not to mention our increasingly authoritarian government that no one has a problem with because of the constant fearmongering in the mainstream news. You also cannot use public transport without being harassed by aboriginals, especially if you're female, yet they get a free pass for behaving like subhumans because muh stolen land. None of the things that made Australia an aspirational place to live 50 years ago still exist.

This country had so much potential and beauty, but now it's just a colony of India with unlivable conditions worse than the great depression. A lot of people here are unpleasant to be around, and there's nothing to do anywhere.
