what's your current obsession? for me it's galaxy express 999! I read most of the manga (sadly is not fully translated) I watched the movie and I loved it definitely one of my favorite films of all time now. currently watching the anime.

after seeing the film's ending I finally see the similarities with the game ICO

yeah the dragonflight talents changed things behind the scenes. it flows together really well but you can still make mistakes.
biggest thing is the bones buff container. if you get buffs outside of the container, you can optimize roll the bones buff uptime

>your current obsession?
Butane/flame driven dry herb vaporizers.
Tried weed about a week ago and now I am trying to optimize my experience in autistic fashion.

Also been a bit obsessed with world building of the story I am writing. I took a few weeks off writing just to get some of the details figured out. Now that I got them figure out I am back to writing.
>>
>>82677119
oh nice! sometimes I make a bit of world building for my drawings but nothing too substantial.
have you written stories before? I have a lot of respect for writers
>>
>>82677193
It's rare for me to complete writing projects.
I guess the issue is my ideas require writing full epic fantasy novels, even a full series of them to fully explore the idea/story, but I tend to run out of steam before the first draft is done.

That said I keep trying. Only 4 chapters into my current story, which hasn't even really got to the main premise yet and instead is still at the inciting event. Thing is even if I complete this one the subject matter is too messed up to publish and put my name on it, so even if I do finish it I will probably just dump it on Ao3 and write a different more socially acceptable story set in the same universe later.
>>
>>82677372
why is it too messed up to publish? there are lots of books with messed up things in it, well then again those were old books

man I need to play those games I've only played a bit of the first game years ago then got distracted by king's field lol
>>
>>82677419
They are very easy to emulate nowadays, that saves you from having to deal with the performance issues the original versions got, but even with that whether you decide to emulate or install it in a ps3/xbox, the games are very fun. I suggest you to play for answer first and then if you like it play 4 as some sort of prequel dlc, but for answer is more fun because of the branching paths, the faster gameplay and more importantly, you play as the bad guy
>>
>>82677382
>why is it too messed up to publish?
To make a very convoluted story short, it contains kinda sorta underage sexual content, extreme violence and gore, and technically necrophilia, among other things.
While most of the story is standard fantasy there are intentionally scenes inspired by the extreme horror genera with nothing held back.
There is a reason the few people who (self) publish in the extreme horror genera always do so under a pen name.

I got into Neopets again. It's super easy because they give you a ton of freebies (probably because the company is a bit desperate and the playerbase is mostly boomers who have no time to grind minigames)
It's gorgeous. The faerie festival gave me a free recolor so I got my dream pet
>>
>>82677458
oh I know I can emulate them I've just been busy with other games and other stuff that I just haven't gotten around to it. but I would like to start with the first one I'm very autistic about that!
>>82677480
well that's nothing new in literature really but I get it people these days are very sensitive and will have a problem with it.
>>82677485
oh shit! neopets is still a thing? I loved that as a kid!! maybe I should get back into it
>>
>>82677494
Yeah, jellyneo and r/neopets (gasp! Reddit!) are full of resources. I'm making like 120k a day from Battledome and several dailies, questlog, etc. Nobody cares about inflation apparently
>>
>>82677501
ohhh! I'm gonna check it out! I liked neopets as a kid but since the computer wasn't mine (it was a family computer) I never managed to do much
>>
>>82677494
>these days are very sensitive and will have a problem with it
It's more that such content is literally not allowed on most platforms and even if self published on a website, web host would pull the domain if they found out.
Plus if my name was on it people would feel justified in contacting my employer to get me fired. Because apparently writing offensive stuff means you don't deserve to make a honest living or feed yourself.
Oddly enough the people on Ao3 still don't give a shit about such things and posting pseudonymous is standard practice. Which is why if I finish it I will dump it there.
>>
>>82677552
that is such bullshit! it sucks that you have to do that.
>>
>>82677494
>but I would like to start with the first one
Shit you got a long way ahead of you then, thankfully some of the older titles are still really entertaining but have in mind that between generations alot of things change and the timelines are kinda messed up between them too, for example you don't need to play any of the previous games to understand ac4 and other stuff like major gameplay changes in some and all. but I guess you also know that.

Hopefully you'll get into these games someday, very fun and very unique too, some of my favorite sci-fi out there.
>>
>>82677600
I do remember really liking the little bit I played and I love mech stuff I love gundam and mech anime in general
>>
That's a nice obsession, anon. I still didn't watch it, but it seems to be a somehow important series for the anime scenario in general (or that's what it seems to be). It's really a shame that it isn't fully translated.
The thing most close to an obsession for me currently is japanese games. Lately I've been playing titles that aren't mainstream (but also not that obscure) and I'm having a lot of fun. I want to try Persona 2 next (my first in the series) and maybe Senran Kagura or Oneechanbara. I'm more interested in series that stay more inside Japan rather than those that are well blended worldwide, such as Nintendo's or Resident Evil
>>
>>82675794
My current (lifelong) obsession is digimon
however, Galaxy Express 999 is seriously great, good taste OP.
I've been slowly making my way through the untranslated chapters in moon... I'm not confident enough in my skill level yet (might misunderstand some things) but maybe I'll translate them someday.
>>
>>82675794
my current obsession is wishing i could draw, it will never happen though

I found out about galaxy express 999 because of the game ico I read that the game's director was inspired by it when he was making the game, I highly highly recommend you at least watch the movie!
also if we're talking about obscure japanese games check out doremi fantasy on super famicom(snes) it's really good and it has a really good ost.
I really don't have any interest in the persona series personally but I do enjoy jrpgs I recently beat final fantasy 1 both the nes and ps1 versions (I couldn't decide which one to play so I played both)
oh and sin and punishment is kind of obscure (not really sure) I love that game
>>82677722
nice! I used to watch the anime as a kid but don't remember anything from it.
you can actually read japanese? ohh I'm so jealous! I'm currently watching the anime since the manga wasn't fully translated so far it's pretty faithful, few changes here and there and it skipped several chapters, I don't mind since some chapters can be a bit repetitive
>tetsuro loses his pass
>he gets it back
>the end
I hate that it skipped my favorite chapter, the dark sisters I think it was called, but I get it that episode was pretty dark
>>82677730
I can only draw abstract stuff (I've posted my drawings before) maybe you should lean into that!
>>
>>82677730
Maybe I am just super ignorant but isn't progress in drawing pretty closely correlated to the amount of regular practice doing it?

If you want to see improvement super fast then you can take a formal class to dramatically boost your progress and get guidance.
>>
>>82677766
i am just lazy, i spend most of the day wishing i had it in me to practice and do once in a blue moon
people like me are meant to get a job in manual labor or something, not draw
>>
>>82677776
I blame monster hunter! I was actually getting descent at drawing then I got monster hunter 4 and stopped drawing for like a year or two lol
>>
>>82677840
i just make up excuses or do other productive things to not do it, it is miserable, i wish i could do it
>>
>>82677853
you can do it anon don't give up!
>>
>>82677759
I got into it through the anime... from an anime convention panel way back about how wild '70s and '80s shounen got. Turned it on and couldn't stop.
But even 113 episodes (and the spinoffs/movies) aren't enough so I went to the original source. And as a fan of later anime I can appreciate its influence on so many other titles...
My Japanese is at a level where I can read manga, but it involves a lot of looking words up in dictionaries (which is fine, I have furigana, but slows me down) and a few grammar points I'm not quite sure about (which is why I'm not trying to produce scanlations) though I get most of it.

doesn't matter anon! don't give up!
