There's also some truth to it, more people give a fuck about what happens in the US than what happens in Norway, Denmark or Portugal. We're not the center of the world but we are highly influential. Nearly every major cultural or technological development that comes out of the US ends up becoming proliferated throughout the world. Your culture and your mind has already been infected by American culture and there's nothing you can do about it. Even if all the nations of the world consciously chose to reject all things American we would still live rent free in the heads of everyone around the globe.
