How can I improve my social skills and voice? im kind of shy, but I know its important to be talkative for job opportunities, so I started talking to more people, and it has had good results. However, I still sound like a 14 year-old, and people often think I am one because of my voice and the way I come across.
>>82680786Post a vocaroo so we know what you need to fix

>>82680786>I still sound like a 14 year-oldand this is bad because?why do you want to sound like a masculine old hag?
>>82680903Because sounding 14 when you are not 14 is so shameful I think.>why do you want to sound like a masculine old hag?I dont want to sound like a man just more stable
>>82680883you don't sound like a 14 year old, you sound like a 30 year old that has ptsd or something
>>82680938dont think I have ptsd but probably something.>you don't sound like a 14 year old thanks was nice to hear
>>82680883https://vocaroo.com/1m3dsie5XzKyhttps://vocaroo.com/190QuatxoWEmWhere are you from? Sound almost filipine-like as my first guess.
Maybe Swedish or something ... no idea guessing on that accent it's too mild. Norway?
>>82680949your voice is shaky though, you could do some singing lessons I guess to make it more stable, have you tried? i sung in a choir for 7 years so that helped a lot
>>82680883hot you sound like a russian princess, make me want to worship you >>82680967stfu youre annoying
>>82680967im not Filipino idk where my accent is from because that happens when you use the internet to much. Im east african You have a pretty voice and dont sound like I a boy.
>>82680986Black Fembot! My favorite
>>82680971I mostly speak germanic languages so maybe that has some effect on my voice.>>82680972Yeah that sounds smart
>>82680972Ah that "female with a low voice" was a clip I'd saved, I'm the guy saying "reeee" actually. That person didn't really have a "low voice" to speak of either. There's no need to be self-conscious of your voice since that's something you can't change. What you can do is feel comfortable and relax. Maybe when you're speaking naturally this is in fact your best voice.People will always make weird accusations but you can ignore them mostly. They're not worthwhile to pay attention to. Nothing is easier than to complain or hate something which is why everyone does it so easily. Giving true advice to improve is very difficult which is why so many give weak "advice" which may not be helpful. You might try voicechat with someone online if you can't talk to them on the phone. Skype used to be extremely popular for learning languages and talking to random people.
>>82680977>stfu youre annoyingBeing annoyed is your choice not mine. I can neither force you to be annoyed nor read my posts. You have chosen to do so and chosen likewise to feel as you do which is ultimately your freedom.
>>82680996>Yeah that sounds smartIf you don't talk much during the day, you can always send voice messages on discord to people as well, talking about your day and stuff
>>82680998>Maybe when you're speaking naturally this is in fact your best voice.yeah that also could be a thing.>You might try voicechat with someone online if you can't talk to them on the phone. Skype used to be extremely popular for learning languages and talking to random people.Never thought about that. Ill maybe give it a shot sometime
>>82680996>I mostly speak germanic languages so maybe that has some effect on my voice. You may sound most true to your self if you speak in a language you're most comfortable.
>>82681031I usually talk a lot but even then I sound like that. Never really got into discord but Im open to try different thing to change this
>>82681048If you talk a lot then discord won't make a difference im afraid, maybe accept your voice? you know that your own voice will always sound worse to yourself than it does to other people, studies have been done on this
I speak English myself, native born. In cases when I've spoken to others online I've found many are embarrassed to speak their own language. This is a shame because there is nothing embarrassing about following the path you feel is most natural and comfortable for you.I'm not sure where embarrassment may come from, but, it's not required to be clearly understood in all cases. Especially not when demonstrating your natural "vocal timbre" (the sound of your voice.)
>>82681048>>82681053Yes that's actually what I was suggesting. Not that discord or chat would change your voice, but, it may help you become more comfortable with it.
>>82681063think that is the most I need working on feeling more comfortable. Like I dont want a different voice just a stable one.
>>82681057I dont know why but it feels a bit uncomfortable to speak my native language online. Also dont think I ever met anyone who spoke it maybe once
>>82681070call one of your friends on discord :D
>>82681070>>82681072I feel they could be linked together somehow.
>>82681074I think I have a account somewhere but dont really use it so its a bit strange to call people I dont speak to anymore.>>82681077How I dont see it?
>>82681090>I think I have a account somewhere but dont really useyeah thats a problem i guess... sorry
I remember seeing lots of people from Africa moving into my apartment building years ago. The building had a shared laundry so I'd run into them there. They seemed very shy and surprised when I treated them with ordinary politeness and respect. I never got the chance to have a proper conversation with any of them. For example, me waiting patiently, "queuing" and allowing them to take the next available machine since I arrived after they were already waiting. They almost seemed to feel shocked that I didn't immediately jump ahead of them to take what was rightfully theirs.
>>82681097Maybe they went through something traumatic or are just timid?
>>82681090>How I dont see it?I meant these:>think that is the most I need working on feeling more comfortable. Like I dont want a different voice just a stable one.and>I dont know why but it feels a bit uncomfortable to speak my native language online. Also dont think I ever met anyone who spoke it maybe onceThe discomfort you feel may be related. Both your natural voice (which sounds nice, and works!) and native language (which I'm sure is also nice.) You could begin by asking "why do I feel this discomfort or insecurity?"
Do you want to do some voice training on discord?
>>82681110I see I just felt something click in my brain
>>82681103>Maybe they went through something traumatic or are just timid?Possibly. That building was a run-down lower class (poor) building so they had probably run into many cases of disrespect or poor manners from others. Since I treat others as I expect to be treated and punish those who disrespect me or show lack of respect to anyone else who deserves respect severely and excessively, I'm sure I stood out as "weird". It's common in those lower-class areas to feel alienation due to many immigrants from different cultures and languages. There can be thousands of people all around but it can still feel very lonely. I'm used to upper-class society however where people start up conversations and feel very comfortable and secure with each other like family.
>>82681121>There can be thousands of people all around but it can still feel very lonely. Yes that just describes live in 1 sentence
>>82681172We're all alone in this together <3
>>82681173Yeah thats kind of funny
